I hate to have to come back and update my review for lower stars, but the last few visits haven't been the most pleasant. My most recent visit takes the cake for worst experience at a nail salon getting a pedicure. The nail tech was VERY aggressive clipping the corners of my toe nails that she made every single toe bleed. She was cutting too deep and just ripping my toenail and skin it's attached to. It was a freaking nightmare and so painful. She was pretty aggressive when cutting the cuticle too. You'd think she was in a rush to finish up with how she was just clipping and pulling at them. Edward Scissorhands would be more gentle than her. I'm not one to complain or make a scene, but I honestly think I should've. I was still nice (or stupid, idk what it is at this point) and paid and tipped her even though she basically mutilated my toes. The paint job was very halfassed and she left them so bad, maybe because my toe wouldn't stop bleeding. I'm just sad this experience will make me not want to come back again. read more

I made an appointment February 11th to get Valentines themed nails and when I walked in, my experience felt rushed which also impacted the quality of my nails. The ombré was a bit streaky and my cuticles don't look as polished as other people's cuticles looked on their instagram page. But this place is 10x's better than UwU Nails in chinatown that's for sure. Wasn't bad but wasn't good either. I was serviced by Jasmine. She was kind and gave the best foot massages in which I did enjoy the pedicure. I went no-chip clear polish and had the Lavender treatment. Moved to the no-chip mani and that was pretty basic nothing to ride home about. What was surprising was cash is preferred. There is an up charge for using your card which in my option eats into providing a decent tip. But this place is rarely new and they're location is impressionable. Easy to find but impossible to park. Basically each man to himself, people are rhude the lot is always full and their is too much of a variety of individuals to really catch the vibe or make sense of any of it. My polish job was pretty trash as it relates to lasting. The polish bubbled up, my cuticles are now peeling. Just a really basic back in high school job all around. I went back for a polish change. They offered to change it but I had to come back the next day...welll needless to say, after the day past I forgot and I didn't want to have Jasmine mess me up like this again. I've been going to Pink Mi Up for around two years during that time there had been a steady decline. To begin with, the level technicians are subpar - today I asked for a three color design and it was too difficult for the technician. Additionally, they have a shrinking selection of colors. Let me start by saying that the manager of this location is very sweet and kind. I've been to this location maybe a dozen times. My experience has been mixed for the most part. I called in and booked a last minute pedi/soak off and full set that I ended up changing for a simple no-chip mani and pedi. The young lady that serviced me for the pedi was absolutely horrible from start to finish. Her attitude was complete trash. I asked her to buff out my toe nail beds and she legit said no. I had to insist. She did so begrudgingly. The young woman that completed my manicure redeemed the total experience. I will never go back. To top it off, , the technician preforming my pedi was talking shit about me to her coworker next to her. Note: Google translate works very well. Don't talk trash about paying customers that have literally not treated you poorly. My tech did an ok job but took only 20 minutes start to finish on my pedicure. I got the Pink Me Up pedicure for $55. I kept saying "You can slow down and take your time. Don't Don't rush." I felt like she was racing someone and I couldn't relax. I didn't get to soak my feet as I requested AND I had to switch chairs because the massage function of the one I was in didn't work. I have been here several times but WILL NOT GO BACK. Perhaps I'm cheap or behind the times but $55 dollars for a 22 minute pedicure is ridiculous and that included the parrafin and hot oil wax candle massage! ***update on my review - my nails are all chipping after only 3 days. Literally the worst manicure I've ever had in my life. My first and last time here! I have never paid so much money to do a no chip manicure. $72 because the girl decided to add the dip powder and then tells me after the fact how much it will be. On top of that, she literally cut every single one of my cuticles to the point I was bleeding, kept filing my nails down, and kept saying how short my nails are. I went into this salon thinking it would be a normal nail bar. My friend asked if they could do a fill on her acrylic nails which the front desk said she could, when she sat down they topped off her nails with gel X tips making her set so chunky. I asked for a fresh set which I was also given the gel x with French tip. I asked for short nails with a square shape and the technician kept pushing for coffin or almond which I did not ask for. I ended up with very rounded tips and uneven shapes. We finished our services with a no chip pedicure which took all of 10 minutes. They did not do a good job on the pedicure caring for my cuticles or callus. I felt anxious and uncomfortable the entire time getting the services done, they rush the process for sure. The cherry on top of the cake was paying $175 for the gel x French tip and no chip pedicure that I didn't enjoy. I will never come back here. None of the prices were communicated prior to, I was left to be shocked at the time of payment. Avoid this place at all costs. read more

I went here on my day off as it's like 10 mins away from where I live. I called and the owner told me to come on in & didn't have to make an appointment which I was really happy about! When I got there it was about 6 people there getting serviced but by the time I sat down for my pedicure a small group of 3 were finishing up with their manicures. I did get the spa mani/pedi and it was a pretty reasonable price. Loved the decor inside the salon and the location spot - is perfect location as it right on the corner of Clark/archer and right next to a few restaurants. I also love that it's a few blocks west to the busiest part of Chinatown. The young lady that serviced me was really good! Very attentive and nice. She knew exactly what to do as I had no-chip Polish on my nails and knew what to do which I loved. I only came here because my normal salon was booked. Big mistake. I've been getting clear dip manicures with gel overlays for six months now so I know how they're supposed to go. The first problem was that they assigned me to a woman who refused to fix a nail that had broken on one side. Instead she tried to convince me that nail glue and doing a dip manicure won't help. Which I know isn't true because I've done so before at my usual salon and it held my nail together long enough to grow out so I could slowly clip off the damaged bit. She wouldn't listen and I was tired of arguing so I just agreed to cut the nail and get a tip put on. Then she unilaterally decided to cut my other nails with the DRILL mind you, not the clippers, to the length of one nail that was shorter than the others. She didn't ask if I was okay with one being somewhat shorter than the others (which I was since it was growing out after breaking two months ago). She also almost burned me with a hot towel when she was trying to get the old gel and dip off. Apparently heat makes it come off faster. My normal salon never tries to rush the process with heat. And now I know why. She was in such a rush to get done with me that when I told her the drill hurt (which it normally shouldn't) she told me it was on the lowest setting and continued on. She wasn't completely done by the time new customers came in and instead of finishing with me I was shuffled off to another technician. This technician had somewhat of an idea of what I wanted but I still had to explain everything again. This technician was nicer than the first but it soon became obvious that she was new. The whole time she was doing my nails the technician beside her was giving advice. I wanted pink ombre nails. Instead of letting me choose which color pink, the technician just chose one for me. When she showed me the first ombré nail, I hated it. It wasn't ombré at all. Just milky white polish with a pink dot in the middle. She asked me if I liked it. I just stared at her, like this isn't what I asked for. I said I'm not sure. She cleaned off the polish and tried again. This time she put pink polish at the tip of my nail and dragged it down. It thankfully looked somewhat like ombré at this point. After completing several coats she asked me again if I liked it. Truthfully, not really. The shade chosen (by the tech not me) wasn't a good choice and honestly at this point my chipped nail polish I came in with looked better. She seemed to agree that the ombré didn't look very good so she suggested we put gold flakes on it (to hide the defects I guess). She put that on and while it did help somewhat I still wasn't thrilled by the overall look. The gold flakes, mind you, cost an additional $10. So eventually she finished, I paid, and left the salon. In the car, not three minutes after leaving, I touched my nails to make sure they're smooth and discovered one rough spot at the bottom of a nail and a few rough edges on several other nails. At this point, I can't wait to go back to my usual salon in a few weeks and get my nails done right. I'll never go back to this place again. read more

I went to Pink Mi Up for my bday weekend. I would normally go nearby to OMG, but their customer service at the front desk is seriously lacking. Anyway, I received a pedicure (one of the spa ones - I can't remember the name), and a PMU mani. My nail tech left something to be desired with the foot massage, but she did a nice job painting my nails. As for the mani, my biggest issue is the fact that she didn't polish to the edge. Maybe it's not how they're taught, but I'm not a fan. I didn't think anything of it at the time, but I probably should've known when she made a comment about the polish I had on when I came in extending to the edge. (She wasn't mean about it, just making an observation.) Overall, I would consider returning for a pedicure, but I won't be returning often. read more

The first two times I did my lashes BInbin was amazing! I went back two weeks ago and unfortunately she is no longer there. :( Tina did my lashes this time and sadly I won't be coming back. First was the language barrier. I understand how hard English is since I also come from a different country but for work at least learn the basic terms to understand what the customer wants. Second was the glue she used. I don't know if it's a bad formula or she just placed it wrong but OMG my eyes BURNED! I keep tearing while getting my lashes done and that made problems worse! My lashes sticked together, so when she's trying to separate them they hurt from her pulling and tugging! Third the lashes she used are cheap.. they feel so fake and rough to the point they poke and cause pain. This is my last time here. :( read more
