Modita - Dessert platter aka what happens when you order all the desserts. - Sushi Bars Near Me - Indianapolis, Indiana

Always have a great time at CRG restaurants, they're some of the best food and service in Indy and Modita certainly doesn't disappoint! We loved the cocktails as well as the dim sum offerings. Our waiter was helpful in accommodating our shellfish allergy and made awesome recommendations. We especially loved the bao and the short rib dumplings! read more

Made a Friday night reservation here since it has been on my food bucket list for 2023. I absolutely loved the vibe of this place!! It was dark and romantic for sure but also a great girls night out spot. We ordered the edamame and tuna app to start, both were very flavorful. We knew we wanted to get some sushi rolls and all of them delivered on quality, uniqueness and taste. We ordered gyoza and the shrimp shumai, both of those we okay, good but probably wouldn't go back for just that. I also ordered the wagyu nigiri, I thought this was a splurge but melted in my mouth like butter with a subtle smokey flavor. Our server was helpful and we will definitely be back to try the cocktails and unique foods! read more

This place really impressed me with the build out and the cocktails. The food left a lot to be desired. The pai Thai / tamarind noodles were ok. The tofu was quite squishy. The Brussels sprouts were amazing! Don't miss them. I was sad about the broccoli as it is my favorite veggie. Theirs was pretty flavorless. The miso salad was crazy good and the edamame was good. Super spicy. And call me cheap but I don't think edamame should ever cost $9!! read more

If I could give Modita more than 5 stars, I would. The restaurant itself is beautiful and located in the bottle works hotel. The service was great and I cannot say enough good things about the food. Celebrating a friends birthday dinner, we chose to order many dishes to share. I would recommend this approach because there are too many amazing options to choose just one! You cannot go go to Modita and not order the Bao buns. They were by far a group favorite! The umami noodles and brussel sprouts were absolutely amazing! The kimchi fried rice was also very good but spicy. We were given a free dessert for the birthday and the yuzu bar was delicious! Our new favorite restaurant in Indy and only a bonus that it is part of the Cunningham group!! read more

Such an amazing Asian fusion restaurant!!! You have to try the soup dumplings and bao buns if you never have been! They're the best things to share as an appetizer! My husband loves the tangerine chicken and I love their sushi rolls! read more

Great space, the service is definitely improved. I'm not crazy about the food unfortunately. I'd previously gotten the sushi and while expensive, thought it tasted great. Went recently and it really didn't have much flavor. I have tried many of the rice dishes and similarly underwhelmed. Edamame appetizer is delicious. read more

Food and services is amazing but definitely a special occasion place as food is pricey. I have to recommend the soup dumplings absolutely worth it read more

*Nearly* five stars. Since this restaurant is much higher end I do feel like I am inclined to be a little more critical than your typical local restaurant . First off, the Marble Staircase drink. Perfectly lightly sweet with a lovely coconut milk flavor that hits at the end. Delicious. If I wasn't an absolute lightweight I would have ordered another. We ordered the soup dumplings and Bahn Mi terrine as appetizers. The soup dumplings were to die for. When I return (definitely not an "if," but a "when") I will be ordering these again. My friend and I liked them so much we ordered one more order. The terrine was so rich but so delicious. Here is where the one star is lost. My entree was the Tamarind Noodles. Shrimp was cooked perfectly and the flavor was fantastic. My only complaint was the amount of sauce on the noodles. I felt as if they were drowning in the sauce towards the end and it just didn't need it. For a nearly $20 dish of noodles I would just like a tiny bit more finesse, but over dressing aside it was a delicious entree. The other part of the lost star is the amount of time we spent there. Between two appetizers and an entree I did not need to be there for three hours. I appreciate a dining experience where I am meant to enjoy every aspect of the meal, but to be there that long wasn't necessary. I think just keeping the pace a little bit faster would have made a difference for me. Otherwise, the service was great. I know this restaurant is new and I am very excited to go again. I'm sure there are tiny bits here and there to work out and my review next time will probably be different than this time. Overall, great experience and even better food. read more

Bao buns were great, as was the pork, but too much mayonnaise for my taste. Soup dumplings were the highlight as was the hamachi roll. I was not impressed with the orange chicken-nothing wrong, just not anything special. The crab roll was also underwhelming. Hubby's tamarind noodles were good. Ambiance was great as was our server, but service was slow as the night went on-and it was not packed, so prepare to be there awhile even if you order soon after arrival. Will be back to try udon noodles, kimchi fried rice. read more

Excellent experience - and will definitely be going back. I wish I had taken more pictures, but I was too busy eating the food as soon as it hit the table. My husband and I ordered the egg rolls and soup dumplings as an appetizer - the sauce that came with both dishes were excellent. Husband got the kimchi fried rice with chicken and I got the Short Ribs. I also added an order of the bao buns. We both like spicy, so we wanted a little more heat with the fried rice, but it was yummy. It already comes with pork, so I don't think adding chicken/sirloin/shrimp is even necessary. The short ribs melted in my mouth and it paired so well with the Asian pear salad. We were stuffed but still decided to get dessert. I ordered the Yuzu bar and he got the mango sorbet. Both excellent and palate cleansing. We have raved about Modita to several friends and already plan to go back soon! read more

An amazing dining experience. Our waitress Lindsay was absolutely fantastic and the food and drinks were absolutely top notch. Each course was better than the last. The Wagyu beef was like nothing else I have ever experienced. The Sushi was unbelievable, and not pictured was the umami noodles that were so full of flavor. Can't go wrong with a Cunningham restaurant. Modita is a lil different than what we usually go to but it was great. Our server was very knowledgeable and helpful when deciding what to get. We ordered the spring rolls, sushi feature, noodles and short rib. The spring rolls and short rib were my fav. The short rib had great flavor. Only complaint is that the drinks took a while. We ordered spring rolls and drinks at the same time and we got and finished our spring rolls before we got our drinks. Highly recommend making a reservation if possible. read more

This was the perfect place to celebrate my birthday! We each had a cocktail, which were very unique and like nothing I'd had before. Everything here is shareable, so we got the soup dumplings, edamame, chicken yakisoba noodles, and pork kimchi fried rice and split them between the four of us. Everything was incredible, but I think the fried rice was my favorite. They brought me a dessert for my birthday, which was a nice surprise! The staff really went above and beyond and made it a great experience on top of a really great meal. read more

I unfortunately haven't dined in the restaurant; however, I have ordered take out twice. I ordered off the I had the pork bao buns. The pillow bun are so soft and moist. The pork belly is juice and crispy with a tasty coleslaw. The salmon for the second course. with Brown rice (not seasoned) and spicy cucumbers (not exciting). The third course I choose the ice cream trio. The Uber health bar is absolutely delicious. The second time I choose the Bao Buns and the pork soup dumplings. The soup dumplings were less to be desired. I do plan to visit this establishment again. It beautiful inside. I hear great reviews! read more

As part of the Cunningham restaurant group (CRG) that brought you Union 50, Livery & Vida you'd expect their Asian fusion concept (Modita) to be equally delicious- and you'd be right. When you walk in your greeted with an open concept floor plan, with dark tones and plush seating that gives this perfect intimate cozy vibe. There's also a Hydro-pod wall with lots of fresh greens ingredients that are used in the dishes. Their cocktail menu is fantastic Dash you can't really go wrong with anything you pick. They do have several sake drinks but I have not been adventurous enough to try them. However, I've never had a bad vodka, gin, or rum drink there- palate-pleasing and easy on the eyes. As an Asian fusion place there are many different dish options but their features include sushi, soup dumplings noodles, and rice dishes. Great for a night out with friends, a romantic evening, with family, or a night out solo. read more

Met friends at Modita to try out their Devour Indy menu! It did not disappoint. First, of course, we had to have a fabulous cocktail from the bar while we perused the dinner selections. I got the "gentle repose" which is a fancy twist on a margarita. So delicious I had two lol! The devour menu was a three-course meal. You got a choice of four appetizers, four entrées and two desserts. I had the nigiri appetizer and the salmon entrée which were both fantastic. One of my friends had the wagyu steak and another had the tangerine chicken. Both looked delicious as well. For dessert and we had a trio of sorbet/ice cream featuring a mango, a strawberry basil and a heath bar chocolatey sweet potato flavors. I felt the $35 Devour Indy price was reasonable for the quality and amount of food received. Modita has a great vibe and good service and is conveniently located across the street from the Bottleworks! I have always had a good time here.!! Put it on your list! read more

My first experience here was amazing! Which was a while ago. The food and service were great. Tonight however.. Was terrible. I was really excited to come back due to my past experience! We ordered the same thing as we did in the past and it tasted a bit different in a bad way while also being served cold appetizers.. which took almost FOREVER to come out (our main took almost 45 mins after to come out). Others that came after us were served while we sat there. While sitting at the bar, the service was very subpar. 1 male and 1 female bartender which were not attentive to us specifically... made the experience worst. The bar was not full, (Neither were the tables) but others were tended to while we were basically ignored. The male bartender tried his best as I could see he was picking up the slack of the woman bartender. She was extremely unpleasant and tended to others multiple times without looking at us. The male bartender asked her to grab our check (which is warranted, he was kind, and great and seem to have more experience.. On top of being busy) and she ignored him and did it on her own time because it seemed like she didn't want anything to do with us. She visited us ONCE while he visited everyone at the bar. We were there forever... He tried his best but seems to have a terrible team member behind the bar. Could say that she was having a bad day, but the other ppl she was serving behind the bar never had an empty drink like we did or the attitude. Wont be back... Ever.. read more

Delicious menu and excellent customer service. Love their frequently changing cocktail menu!

Great service. Loved our server Aaron. He was attentive but not in our faces. 10/10. Food was great. We came for the devour promo. We give the food a 9/10. I had the shrimp tempura sushi roll and he had the Salomon. Both very good. We also started with the sticky buns. Loved!! 'Little Asian pillows, sticky deliciousness.' Hahaha per my date! Cocktails were great. Dessert was delicious, the ube was our favorite. Ambiance is a 10/10. It's dark and sexy, perfect for date night. We will be back! read more

A wonderful addition to the Cunningham Restaurant Group here in Indianapolis. The service, food, and ambiance are everything you could hope for a delightful dining experience. Simply delicious food that is authentic to the recipes. Highly recommended. Can't wait to go back.

I usually LOVE this place but the one thing I can't get past is the change to the Hamachi roll!! It used to have a piece of fried garlic on it and some sort of aioli on it but now it's fried onions with an onion ponzu which completely changes the roll for me (in a negative way). I wish they would go back to the old way of making that roll but I'm loving some of the new rolls! I think I did a review when they first opened and the skins on the soup dumplings were waaaay too thick. Luckily, they listened to their customers and now have a beautifully delicate skin on the soup dumplings! Bring back the old recipe for the hamachi roll and I will be set!! read more

Wonderful!! A friend and I came to Modita last week to catch up and eat great food; and boy did they deliver! Our server was fantastic, our food came out perfectly and the recommendations were spot on. We forgot our to-go dessert, so I called once I got home (planning on running back to the restaurant) and the manager was about to leave and was going to be passing my house. He delivered our forgotten dessert, WHAT SERVICE! I was shocked and blown away by the kindness! We are now going back this evening for my Birthday dinner.
