I've recently been in to 45 Degrees twice, and both times have been fortunate to have had Jash as my server. I loved the vibe of the place. Good variety of background music playing. Was excited to return and try something different. I thoroughly enjoyed both dishes. As much as I enjoyed the atmostphere, eating in a nice place on Mass Ave., the main thing was the pleasant demeanor of my server. Jash really took time to connect and was so attentive to my table. He always checked in, and made eye contact when passing by. It's obvious he takes pride in how he presents himself, is very kind, with a big smile. He made recommendations with no pressure. Made a little small-talk and made me feel comfortable. Kept glass filled. I look forward to returning to try a different dish. Maybe Jash will be my server again. read more

I had 45 Degrees for the first time! I tried a few things. For an appetizer I had the crab rangoon - they were stellar and filled with actual crab! Most places (e.g., chains) go overboard with the cream cheese but these had more meat and I was delighted. To drink I had the Strawberry Cooler - I have no shame in liking fruity drinks haha but this one was good! I didn't taste the tequila but it was still refreshing. Next time, I'm going to try the Cherry Bourbon Smash! For my main course, I had the Dynamite Roll and Godzilla Roll. I'm really big on my sushi cooked and these were perfection, the right level of spicy for me and I was able to go home with leftovers! Out of everything, the Dynamite roll was my favorite and will likely be my go-to in the near future! The service is amazing here! Waitresses were attentive and managed the room well. It was around midday when I arrived and the crowd was light but soon picked up as it got later. Staff continued to take care of customers and everyone looked to be having a good time at their tables with family and friends, so a happy dining room means a great staff! The ambiance here is chill! It's perfect for a date night, solo outing, family dinner or celebration! During my visit, I believe there was a table of ladies having a bachelorette-type dinner/outing and they were having a good time! You can come dressed up or casual. Sadly I have to give a zero stars. We were excited to try this place and we knew it would be busy but had no problem. Well put our name in with the hostess, she stated the wait was thirty minutes. I specifically asked her do we check back in do we wait, she said check back in and I asked specifically with her again to be sure, she said yes. Not once did she mention anything that we had to literally stay out front or anything. So 25 min went by we went back in and noticed our name was crossed off, she looked at us and said she went to look for us and I reminded her that she specifically said to check back with her in thirty minutes, she seemed confused and then said she'd come get us again in another 20 min ... when I asked her name she paused and I asked again then she gave it. Then I asked for her managers name and she paused longer this time. Aubrey seemed to be a bit overwhelmed and obviously didn't communicate especially when asked specifically about the wait. As the front of the house who see the customers first before being seated I feel that a hostess needs to be a little more comfortable with talking to patrons and being a little more descriptive and direct when asked specific questions about the wait. Lack of communication on her part definitely made the experience very disappointing. Please do better to ASSIST in your duties as a front of house hostess. First time at Forty Five Degrees. I really liked the dining area with lots of seating. There are some big round table perfect for groups. This place is unique in the way that their menu offers variety, from sushi and bento box to burgers. Whatever you are hungry for I think they got it. I tried the new item which is Bangkok shrimp wrap which I saw on the chalk board at the entrance. It had a lot of shrimp and the sauce was so good. Had the chance to finally try out this sushi spot on mass ave downtown and it was the best sushi i had had. I got to try three different rolls. Each one different than the last but just as delicious. The place was well lit and decorated beautifully. They had quick service and they were all very nice and polite. 1/2 price sushi on Sunday evenings - count me in! We were able to walk right in around 4:30pm after a Colts game- our waiter was ndw, but got everything right and was friendly! We ordered the crab ragoons which were OK, but they needed a lot more stuffing. We also ordered a variety of sushi rolls. The Hawaiian roll was the standout with the mango habanero glaze! The music was all over the place but cool. So as far as the service, I'd say it was probably below standard for me. The place wasn't even that busy when I got there. Still the gaps between checking on me were way to long. I'm a bourbon drinker I looked at the cocktail menu and all I saw was bulleit as far as bourbon. I asked is that the only bourbon selection you have. I was told yes. So I said ok I'll take one. After getting up to go to the restroom I noticed the pour had a pretty decent selection of bourbon. I told my waiter I never would've order this if I knew. He did apologize and changed it out. As for the food. You are doing your self wrong if u don't try their "Mt fuji" my favorite and the "Playboy" after the waiter finally got it lit. Would i go back probably idk. The sushi really was good to me. We came here for my cousin's birthday the Saturday before Mother's Day! It was not busy and we were grateful. Our service in the server was amazing. She was super sweet. I was a little disappointed in the lettuce wraps... I feel like I could've made it at home! It was lettuce and chicken only... No pineapples, no carrots, or no other added vegetable to make it more of a wrap feel. The environment, however, was nicer, it looks like some remodeling has been done. The atmosphere of the restaurant is super modern but comfortable. The hostess greeted us with a smile and got us seated right away, even though it was 5:30 PM on a Friday. Our server was super attentive and polite. We had a few questions about allergies and recommendations and he came prepared with thoughtful answers. We each got one of their fall seasonal drinks. The sleepy hollow was exceptional! Then, got some appetizers. For a group of three, the crab rangoon was not enough. They gave three pieces that were extremely flavorful, but not filled with much. We each got the ginger salad which was also delicious. While the dressing isn't physically noticeable, you definitely taste the bold flavors. The portion was perfect as well. Two of us got sushi (Hawaiian roll and spider roll). No complaints! Incredible flavor and you can definitely tell they've mastered their sushi rolls. The third person in our group got a BBQ pork tenderloin. It was a little tough to cut through and a bit dry, but the extra dressing on the side made up for it. The Brussel sprouts were perfectly salted and the wasabi potatoes were just the right amount of spicy. While Forty Five Degrees is a bit pricey if you go during the week, 1/2 price sushi on Sundays is definitely worth it. I want to start off by saying this was a large group (8 top) on a week night. That being said, the service was sub par. I ordered a beer and didn't receive until after everyone else had been served. We came here on a Thursday night because I have had sushi on my tastebuds and we also wanted to enjoy some cocktails too. The plus side of Thursday's is they have $5 off of their drinks on Thursdays which roughly makes them about half price. I was pleasantly surprised to find out that I could substitute out the meats I wanted in the sushi which worked great for me since I don't eat crab or shrimp. The place was not busy at all and pretty quiet which I'm not sure if that is a typical Thursday or if it was because it's Halloween; either way you might want to try a Thursday night to have the place to yourself. Because it was empty it was quiet and our waitress was on top of it! For my first drink I ordered something off of the seasonal menu, it was a peach mule. It as disgusting. I can't even give a good description of the flavor because it was so bad, and I was very disappointed. Mi Amor ordered a bourbon cherry drink of some sort and while it was terrible he was not thrilled about it either. I can tell the food is made to order because when it came out, it was fresh. Service was amazing. The staff is so friendly and very attentive. Was able to walk in and take a seat. We got 5 rolls (black widow, fire dragon, Godzilla, zen, corona) as well as yellow tail sashimi, scallop nigiri, and eel nigiri. My stand outs were the black widow #1 then the Godzilla roll. My spouse really enjoyed the corona roll as well as their yellow tail sashimi and scallop nigiri. They said it was really fresh raw fish. They also said it was the best scallop they've ever had. The yellow tail pieces were a good size too. All and all good and we will be coming back next time we're in Indy. Bonus: it was my birthday so they offered a free dessert. Finally day of Devour Winter fest had to come here. They had 2 for $45 -3 course meals. This is an outstanding sushi restaurant. Not only is the food remarkable but the presentation is stellar. It's in a great location on Mass Ave. we came on Sunday and meter parking is free, a nice bonus. They have a stuffed pepper appetizer I'll definitely be back for. It's filled with rice scallops and shrimp. The egg-rolls were really good along with the ginger salad. The specialty sushi was my favorite. They have an Indy roll and Mass Ave and others. This was our first visit and we decided to come during Devour Indy. All I can say is WOW! We loved this place. We came for lunch and it wasn't overly crowded but it also wasn't a ghost town (which is always the best IMO). We were greeted immediately and offered our choice of tables. Our server, Autumn, was really friendly and very knowledgeable about the menu and their offerings. Her excellent service continued throughout the meal, well paced check ins and brought the check expeditiously when appropriate. The food!!! It was soooo good. We started with the edamame and added the Tequila Blast. I am really glad we upgraded, it made the flavor unique. Edamame should always be warm, IMO, and this was. Lots of salt too (could be a negative for some but it was great for us). I also tried the Tomato Jalapeño soup and the tortilla croutons with the cheese garish was fantastic. My partner had the 45 Salad, and he ate every bite so it must have been pretty good. As for the main/rolls, I love that they offer soy paper. I love sushi but am not really a fan of nori. I got the 45 Roll and my partner got the amount Fuji roll. I loved mine and he loved his as well. Everything about our experience was great. We loved the music and that it wasn't too loud. My family and I met up at Forty Five Degrees to enjoy the Devour Winter Menu for lunch. There were 5 of us in our party and we were seated at one of the nice, round booths in front of the window facing Mass Ave. We really enjoyed the bright, open dining room and the raised seating. Audrey was our server and she was attentive while not being too eager or smothering. She was very approachable and made some good suggestions. I wanted to order a cocktail and wanted to decide between two options. She suggested the Strawberry Cooler and it was a nice detour from the types of drinks I usually order. I admit that I couldn't taste the alcohol, but I was able to sip it with my meal, which was nice! From the Devour Menu, my aunt and I ordered Potstickers as our first course (even though it was served 2nd, following our 2nd courses) and those were served hot & fresh! 10/10! My aunt didn't know what a potsticker was, but she is now a fan. For our second courses, I ordered Miso Soup (a favorite of mine) and my aunt ordered the Forty Five Degrees Salad. The Miso Soup was bland and tasted like water with seaweed and tofu floating in it. I was thoroughly disappointed. 0/10. My aunt really enjoyed her salad and I wished I'd ordered that instead. The majority of our food began arriving all at once, meaning that they were all fired at the same time and that was bad timing, in my opinion. I was also disappointed that our server didn't inquire about my full cup of soup. Aside from the taste, it was also cold when it came out. I would have liked if they offered to allow me to order something else in its place. I also order the Bangkok Shrimp which turned out to be the best item of the meal. It's not on the Devour Menu, but it is delicious. I deducted a point for the excessive amount of shredded cabbage/lettuce at the bottom of the cup. It presents as much more shrimp in the cup than there actually is. 9/10. Our main dishes were Chicken Teriyaki for me and Chicken Alfredo for my aunt. Both were suggestions from the server. I was told that the Chicken Teriyaki was the most popular item on the Devour Menu and it was underwhelming in flavor. It was very saucy, but somehow the chicken was still dry. My aunt was deciding between chicken and shrimp for her alfredo and was advised that you only get 4 shrimp, but with the chicken, you get a full breast. My aunt's chicken was also dry and she said the alfredo sauce needed more cheese. She took hers home to "doctor it up." In summary, everything that we had wasn't the best ever, but the service was good and the food came out fast. I also really enjoyed the atmosphere and presentation of the dishes. This place is okay. The service is friendly, but the sushi is subpar unless you order one of the more expensive rolls. For instance, with the spicy tuna, spicy salmon, and california rolls, the filling is lacking and the rolls are always wrapped quite sloppy. If I had to choose, the best rolls on the menu are the Mount Fuji and Thai Kiss. The Thai Kiss is pretty unique with red snapper tempura, asparagus, scallions, avocado, cheesy spicy crab mix, seared ahi tuna, pineapple mango salsa, and thai chili sauce. Despite passing 45 degrees every time I go to Mass Ave, it had been years since I'd visited. As I looked for parking, I noticed how busy they were. A great evening and busy restaurant. Always good to see in Indy now days. We opted for an inside seat and ended up just outside the kitchen. It felt odd at first, but was totally fine! Thursday is half price cocktails and martinis and I was immediately glad my partner picked here. I'm a sucker for someone who likes a good deal.
