This is my go-to mod pizza in my area. I would say the customer service is pretty good. Pizza is also really good and freshly made. This location is also not typically packed, so i would recommend overall.
After that incredulously egregious interaction with an employee whom I'm certain is no longer affiliated with MOD Pizza*, amends were made, and I no longer have to fear getting ridiculed by any of their employees for any reason. Following such a debacle in customer service, my visits to this MOD Pizza were much less frequent, and I started patronizing Rubio's Coastal Grill in Lakewood. The recent, sudden, and certainly unfortunate demise of the Mexican fast casual chain caused that location to permanently shutter sans proper farewell. In spite of the rather high staff turnover rate where it seems an employee working one year wouldn't be working the next, the newer employees here have been holding down the fort quite well to stave off closure, a fate that was recently met by MOD's other Long Beach location in Bixby Knolls. I came three times during the month of June, ordering a pizza each time. One was online and two were in person. The first pizza I ordered online was pretty flavorful, but the crust missed the mark in two aspects. The first was that some of the edges were burnt, and the second was that the underside had a pretty grainy texture akin to sandpaper. I suspect there were residues of other customers' pizzas that got stuck onto my pizza while they were being baked in the oven. Either that, or their equipment could have used a deep cleaning. On my second visit, I asked for the crust to be well done, which makes the crust nice and crispy, but also close to burnt, though not necessarily dangerously. My grievances about the crust dissipated, but unfortunately, so did the flavor on this second pizza. Looking back, I don't recall being asked if I wanted some extra seasoning, but I would not chalk it up to that reasoning (yes, the rhyme was intended lol). However, it was enough for me to forgo the well done part on the third pizza. Luckily, third time was a charm! This time, I added some extra seasoning and also some leafy greens, which were offered by the crew member who built my pizza. Well, if there isn't a rule against it, why not?! That pizza was really what I needed, especially since later that evening, I worked a 5-hour volunteer shift nearby. Not to mention the crew member in charge of the finishing touches even offered a second cup of sri-rancha on the side. My previous pizzas used drizzles on top, but I think having the sauce on the side is a better idea. They won't charge you for extra sauce, even ranch, so if you really need that extra sauce, ask for more! :) I came once more earlier this month, but a couple things missed the mark. I ordered online, and the employee initially forgot to hand me my drink, which easily could have happened were I in a rush. Also, they kind of skimped on the toppings, so I didn't get as much compared to before. However, they more than made up for with sri-rancha. I had checked sri-rancha on my online order and said in the special instructions two cups of sri-rancha on the side. I was expecting sri-rancha to be on the side only, but they also included it as a drizzle. Not what I intended, but more for me I guess! lol There's definitely more than enough to bump my rating from a 2 to a 3. In fact, I'd say it's closer to a 4 right now, but on review updates, I only upgrade by one star unless the original rating was a 1, which then I could upgrade by two stars. Also, the new general manager, Amanda, is pretty cool and does whatever she can to provide a great meal to the customer with a side of hospitality. With progress being progressive over the past two years, this is now my go to for BYO pizza. And that's even with Pieology being closer to me, but I have recently developed a grudge against Pieology that may never go away. Don't ask me why. * The way I put it made it sound like she got fired. I can't confirm that was the case. What I can confirm is that she was a really good employee back then, but simply had a brain fart during my visit and didn't hesitate to admit fault to such a heinous act. I know her name, but out of respect, would not want to name drop, especially since it happened over 2 years ago. Extensive training was done to ensure that something like that wouldn't ever happen to another customer.
Glad they open late because walking arpund LBX, everything was about to close. Friendly staff and brought the pizza to the table. Refillable drink. Decent price. Cheesy!
Woooooww!!! This was the most lovely experience. The workers were the sweetest angels on planet earth and I couldn't have asked for a better end to my night. The food was spectacular and I felt so welcomed. Juan and Brett are the GOATS of pizza and they made my horrible day much better.

Came back and tried to replicate my last visit. Omg! These guys have done it again. My build your own pizza with a generous coverage of delicious meats and fresh veggies was just as delicious as before if not more. This time I tried Mike's Hot Honey sauce with my concoction. As I was drizzling that sauce over my pizza I thought about that old lady that blurted out how she "puts that sh*t on everything!" They should sell that here.... read more

Day 1 here at Mod, many new employees milling about. lots of better toppings to choose from, tasty crust, helpful employees, what's not to like?. Crust made in house. A welcome addition to the LB community. Better than most of the "chipotle" style pizzas out there, I like it. read more

They just opened up this place in Lakewood and so I decided to check them out I actually like them way better than Pieology they have a lot more variety when it comes to the toppings and you can actually get different sizes in the pizza you can get a personal pan or you can get what it's an 11 inch pizza so that was a good thing to know they do have different varieties of Teas which are really good and their lemonade is also good as well just if you're the type who likes thin crispy crust make sure you tell them to keep it in there an additional 7 minutes to get that crispness. They do have a lot of different varieties of pizzas if you're not into adding your own toppings if you're into getting like a supreme pizzas they have a different name for it or a barbecue Pizza I would definitely go back read more

Just ordered two pies online for pickup from MOD location at LBX (near E. Carson St. and N. Lakewood Blvd). When ordering online, I was immediately taken in by the Cauliflower Crust! Before arriving at their website, I had already shopped Fat Tomato Pizza, LW Pizza, Thai Curry Pizza for VEGAN options -- MOD came out on top, offering the most, and INCLUDING VEGAN CHEESE in their options! SMART! I am eating the pizza as I type this, and I am literally rolling my eyes in pure ecstasy as the flavors make theiir way so over my 'test palette', also known as my tongue. If I didn't know better, I would not know this pizza was vegan, and gluten-free. Here is how I built my pizza, try to out for yourself, you won't believe how incredible it is: Cauliflower Crust Pesto Garlic Rub Dairy Free Cheese Red Onion Black Olives Roasted Garlic Tomato (diced) Balsalmic Fig Glaze Dollops of Red Sauce The price is perfect, too! I paid $19.12 for two 11 inch pizzas exactly the same, as detailed above! HUGE KUDOS to MOD PIZZA! I cannot wait to order from this place again! I am loving my newly acquired vegan lifestyle! Thank you MOD PIZZA for being a true blessing today to my "pizza craving - be good to your goals" journey for tummy satisfaction! Also great to recognize was the very pleasant young lady, who greeted me upon coming in the door and was truly and genuinely kind to me! Her voice really did make me smile! I really love it when this happens. read more

Walked in to a modern/warehouse type decor. Clean. A little loud since it's very open - high beam ceilings. Fresh clean lots of choices. Fast and they have mini pizza even for the people who eat child size. They also have the Gluten free pizza crust. Nice. Salads too! I ordered the mini with tomato sauce, mozzarella cheese, Parmesan cheese, pepperoni, mild sausage, mushrooms, and red onions. Baked to perfection. Had a no name cake. It's a ding dong- Like the old hostess ding dongs! Delicious! We will be returning! read more

Hubby and I checked out this place since it's close to home and we love pizza. We went in on a Sunday afternoon and it wasn't too busy. What brought us in was a mailer we received in the mail for BOGO. Score. The concept is the same as the other custom build how you like it pizza place. They have just slightly more variety of topping available (I love all the roasted veggie options), different size pizzas for different appetites, and alcohol (beer only I think?). It is slightly more expensive, but the mailed made it super affordable. Overall, hubby and I both enjoyed our meal. Pizza was good, staff was super nice, and the place was clean. Maybe if we get another coupon mailer.. :D read more

Because of strict diet limitations for the 1st time I tried the cauliflower crust. It Was very good even though it was overcooked. Blocked around the edges and dry. Was disappointed in that. There was a very good amount of black olives on it but very little ground beef. I will order again read more

Came in to have a late lunch with my mom, sister and niece after a "girl's afternoon" of pedicures. By the time we arrived (around 3:00pm) we were all in varying stages of "hangry" from our outing. Ordering is cafeteria style, and their menu is relatively simple. My sister had a vegetarian pizza, my niece had a plain cheese, my mom had their garlic rolls, and I had cheese and pepperoni. Everything was fresh and tasted great. It was our first time having MOD pizza, and we were all impressed. Love their crust which is on the thin side. If you like thicker crust, there's an option to order that, but we all like our crust thin and relatively crispy. My mom's garlic rolls were thicker and weren't very garlicky (which ironically is a good thing for my mom's taste buds). It also had fresh rosemary which added a good earthiness. The place wasn't busy, given the hour so the service was fast, friendly and helpful. Great experience and we'll be back, as well as recommending to friends/family in the area. read more

YAY, They are OPEN and it was worth the wait. The pizza at Mod is excellent, service outstanding 10+++ It's a nice crispy thin crust (not soggy). A nice variety of toppings and sauces and the friendly staff will gladly give you want you want (with a smile and thank you). Kudos to the General manager Peter Paredes, his staff is just as friendly as he is. I work in the area and can't wait to go back read more

In my opinion: MOD Pizza greater than Pieology, Toppings, Blaze Pizza! Many options on how you'd like to customize your pie and if you love spicy food do not forget to ask for the sriracha creamy dressing when your order is ready! What also makes this particular store awesome is the friendly staff! May I highlight one from last night; Jeweliet! She is the friendliest, petite woman in the store and her smile will turn your bad day into a good one! Oh, and one more thing - you must try my two favorites; the Marion Berry Lemonade and No Name Cake. read more
First time here and we love it! Jay took both of our orders and was very professional. He was patient and even let my girlfriend try the "non dairy cheese" before putting it on her pizza. We both ordered the 11" "Mod" size. I got the regular tomato sauce while the gf got pesto. We also got the Mod strips with chocolate. I have a huge sweet tooth so I had to. The place is pretty spacious inside and clean. Anyways, this man Jay can cook! Jay, are you also an artist ? When he was making our pizzas it looked as if he was painting a masterpiece! Anyways, the pizza here is delicious! Very crunchy, not too saucy and toppings are the perfect portion. Today's our cheat day and we're both happy we picked this joint (: read more

I asked for extra cheese when she put the mozzarella on, she said only when I'm done at the end. The pizzas sat there before putting in the oven for a good 5 minutes. She was very shy with the toppings. I asked the guy at the end of I could get the fig sauce. After about 3 to five minutes looking in the fridge, he pulled out the plastic salad dressing container full of it, and just poured the whole thing on top. The tables were dirty as heck. It's a shame seeing as this just opened. I'll just stick to the one next to Trader Joes. read more
