LW combo pizza - small size
    Glenn L.

After considering a few higher end pizza places, I went with LW Pizza for small LW combo to go. It was exactly what I was looking for - a relatively thin crust traditional pizza. I ordered the pizza in the store and it was ready in about 10 minutes. The crust was a bit crunchy and toppings all tasted fresh.

Dined in on 02/21/25 I don't know how many times I can review one establishment but I will keep doing so for LW pizza! I ordered a calzone for the first time ever. Ordered pepperoni and Italian sausage. There are two sizes to choose from; small which is 10" and medium which is 12". It came in a pizza box with a side of marinara sauce. Not surprising, it was delicious. The dough was baked perfectly and the temperature of the food was perfect. Hot but not too hot that I couldn't immediately enjoy my pie. Their marinara sauce. I don't know what to say about it. It's just too good. I honestly don't know if they make their own or not but whatever the case may be, I need them to sell jars of it. Like, immediately. LW, you did it again. Please don't get tired of seeing me. lol

    As of 7/15/25: Latest lunch special price of $9 ($10 w/tax) from 11am-3pm @ojbaylen

This is a great spot for lunch! For $9 ($10 w/tax) you get a sub sandwich (I believe you can choose from 4 kinds) and choice of salad or a drink. I ordered the Italian sub and chose the salad. So worth it! I live less than 10 minutes away so next time I'll call my order in so it's ready for pick-up!

Hands down my favorite pizza! I've been coming here for years. I keep coming back. The crust is crispy the toppings are always fresh. And the lady there is always amazing. I highly recommend trying it .

My new favorite local pizza shop. Everyone there is so nice, and the pizza is absolutely amazing. With a lot of local places I'm glad I found you guys

This was just another pizza spot to try since moving to Long Beach. Theyre not that far from us, but on this particular try, we chose to have it delivered. I went through the SLICE app and got a deal on a two topping pizza. We got pepperoni and mushroom XL which was thin crust and perfect crunch at the end. I decided to try their BBQ wings and they were a bit small for my taste but they were good. The cheese bread was good and we scored by having pizza sauce in stock at our place. This spot is a perfect edition to our lineup of pizza joints to choose from.

Plastic wrapping of some kind found while biting into the pizza
    Patrick V.

Me and my family have gone to this pizza place plenty of times before, and usually the food is pretty good for the price. The service is pretty good, nice people. The place is a bit dirty but I wasn't ever one to care for that sort of thing. The BBQ chicken pizza is my favorite, and recently I purchased said pizza and was eating it at home until I found this plastic wrapping of some kind mid-bite into my pizza. It's quite a hard piece of plastic, and it disgusts me that I found this in the inside of the pizza. Instantly ruined my appetite, and although this was a one time occurrence (to my knowledge), it's still incredibly shocking to me that this happened at all. All I say is be wary of this place, the quality is questionable.

Yum yum ! LW pizza is a bit out my way but whenever I'm craving a pepperoni pizza I come here ! This is one of the only locations in Long Beach that carries BEEF pepperoni ! The pizza is always super fresh & crisp when I get there ! The ladies in here are always super nice & always hook me up ! This pizza spot is located in a very small plaza along side businesses like ups & a donut shop , in the same plaza there's a bar & it can get pretty packed but I always find parking ! A must to check out for pizza lovers !

13 different kinds of specialty pizzas with 6 different sizes of pizza ...wow!

That was very much appreciated. This is a fun casual spot in 2nd and PCH shopping center, so you get 90 minutes of parking free here. You order at the counter, and they bring you the food pretty quickly after. You can eat inside or outside, both are lovely options. You basically pick your pasta type and sauce, so it's kind of a create-your-own-dish. They also have weekly specials and a few other specialty dishes on the menu. I will say, the lasagna looks to be the dish to get. The person next to me ordered it and the dish was massive. Looked delicious! I got the pappardelle bolognese. Pappardelle is my favorite type of noodle, and they make a great pappardelle here! Perfectly toothy. The noodles themselves were 9/10. The bolognese didn't have the deepest flavor I've ever tried, but it was solid. I loved the beautiful plate that my pasta was served in. I would definitely come back here. The most disappointing and inedible dish of all was the trenette with pesto. While the pasta tasted home made the pesto was the too-often-seen-in-American-restaurants pesto cream soup and pretty flavorless (we all agreed that it wasn't even salted properly). My friend who had the ravioli bolognese was satisfied and reported that the ravioli were homemade. The eggplant parmigiano was ok in that the eggplant was properly cooked but not particularly tasty. It came with a side of overcooked rehydrated penne that was like mush. The service was not horrible. Our server was polite but unwilling to split two entrees. She did bring us a couple of little plates. Given that one of the entrees was the pesto, there ended up being no need because that dish was so awful that we each tried one bite and wanted nothing to do with it. This is when a suburb server would notice that it hadn't hardly been touched and apologize and comp it. No such offer or apology. I would never go back!

One thing I noticed immediately was how deceptive the space is from the outside. You walk in thinking you're stepping into a small Italian bistro, and then it just keeps unfolding room after room until you realize you're actually in a large, incredibly lively space. Each room we passed through seemed to gain even more energy. There seemed to be birthday dinners, family gatherings, and just large groups of friends celebrating everywhere, and the whole restaurant had a genuinely festive feel without feeling overly loud or chaotic. Service was fantastic. Our waitress felt less like restaurant service and more like a friend helping the whole table have a good night. Everything flowed really naturally. Timing was great. Drinks stayed full. Plates never piled up, and even little moments that could have felt imperfect somehow just added to the warmth of the experience. We ordered family style for the table and honestly every single thing disappeared. The Burrina pizza and Romana pizza were both excellent. The Caesar salad was fresh and balanced. The lasagna was a hit, and we also ordered a white pasta with fennel sausage that nobody could stop eating. We even had family visiting from Ecuador with us, and everyone cleaned their plates and had a great time. We skipped dessert because we had cake waiting at home, but judging by the number of tiramisus passing by our table, we may have made a tactical error there. The only real challenge is parking. Broadway parking is Broadway parking, and locals already know the situation near the beach can get rough quickly. If you live nearby, I'd honestly recommend Ubering or walking if possible. This immediately went onto my shortlist for large group dinners in Long Beach.

While it was never my personal favorite, I continued going because my wife enjoyed it. Unfortunately, our experience on Sunday, May 3, 2026 definitively closed that chapter. We arrived around 5:45 pm, at a time when the restaurant was clearly not busy. A young gentleman at reception greeted us warmly and was about to seat us, but was abruptly interrupted by a woman who directed us--without explanation--to sit along the wall. We waited there for about 10 minutes, despite a clearly prepared table sitting ready just a few feet away. When we were finally seated, it was at that very table next to the reception desk. Throughout the interaction, the woman showed no courtesy--no smile, no "please," no acknowledgment, and no "thank you for waiting." After years of patronage, this level of indifference was disappointing enough to ensure we won't be returning.

We didn't have reservations, so we expected a wait. The restaurant was packed, and we ended up waiting about 30 minutes to be seated. We ordered the truffle garlic bread, spicy rigatoni vodka, squid ink tonnarreli and a pizza with half The Pig and half hot honey prosciutto. Spicy Rigatoni Vodka - 4/5 The dish was delicious, and you could definitely tell the pasta was handmade. It wasn't spicy at all to me, but I also have a pretty high spice tolerance. I do wish it had more meat, and the portion size felt a little small. I was shocked to find out it was nearly 2,000 calories for the amount served. Squid Ink Tonnarreli - 5/5 This was probably my favorite dish of the night. It was rich, savory, and really flavorful. I'd never had squid ink pasta before, although I've had Filipino squid cooked in squid ink many times. The dish came with squid, shrimp, and a spicy tomato-based sauce. We asked for it mild, but I honestly think it would've been even better spicy. The portion size was good too. Pizza - 3/5 Since they make handmade pasta, I assumed the pizza dough would be amazing, but it was just average. Parts of the crust were a little burnt. The Pig (their all-meat pizza) was okay but slightly too salty for me. The hot honey prosciutto side was better, although they were pretty light on the toppings. I probably wouldn't order pizza here again. Truffle Garlic Bread - 4/5 Really good, but overpriced at $18.50 for 9 small square pieces. The bread was crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and very buttery. Customer Service - 5/5 Our waitress was friendly, attentive, and explained the menu really well. I appreciated that she mentioned the spice levels could be adjusted on certain dishes. She also refilled my iced tea without me having to ask and even brought me a to-go cup for it. Overall, we had a good experience. The food was solid, and the service was great. However, the portions felt a bit small for the price, especially compared to similar restaurants, and I was surprised they didn't offer complimentary bread. I'm glad I tried it, but I'm not sure if I'd go back regularly.

The bread sticks were a bit bland, I wish the dough had had more flavor and was cooked a bit longer. The cheese on top was good, but could maybe benefit from some garlic Parmesan oil or something. I like that you could choose marinara or ranch. I tried both and the marinara was just alright. No complaints about the ranch. The Alfredo sauce was so bland, I ended up dousing it with pepper and Parmesan but it still wasn't enough. I wish the broccoli had been roasted instead of steamed as well for better flavor and texture. Chunks of my fettuccine came stuck together as well. The ambiance was probably the worst part. They have overhead recessed bright white lights and ceiling fans beneath them. The entire restaurant is mostly grey as well ao it's like you're sitting in a haunted house with a strobe light because the fans are below the lights constantly making the light flicker. Lights are usually under fans for this reason. it's kind of amazing the restaurant has them set up like that. Thunderbolt Pizza in Long Beach has become my go-to pizzeria. After trying a wide range of their…read moremenu, two dishes stand out above the rest: the Pizza Margherita and the Garlic Knots. Pizza Margherita - 5/5. This is a perfect example of the care and craft that go into their food. The crust strikes a rare balance - it has that signature leopard-spotted char and slight floppiness you'd expect from a Neapolitan-style pizza, but also delivers the chewiness and airy structure of a great New York-style slice. It never tips too far into being overly crispy or dry. What really sets it apart, though, is the sauce. While many pizzerias treat sauce as an afterthought, Thunderbolt clearly does not. Their tomato sauce is rich, vibrant, and juicy, with a depth of flavor that avoids being overly acidic, salty, or tannic. It enhances the pizza beautifully without overshadowing the dough, which is exactly how it should be. Garlic Knots - 5/5. - Easily some of the best I've had anywhere in LA. These are essentially bread rolls with a super chewy interior and a thin, lightly crusty exterior, served alongside their excellent marinara sauce. They're incredibly satisfying and consistently a crowd favorite. I've brought visitors from Japan, Germany, and New York, and every single one of them couldn't stop talking about these knots. My only small critique is that I wish they had used fresh garlic instead of canned, which would have taken them to an even higher level. Still, even as they are, they're outstanding. Overall, Thunderbolt Pizza delivers thoughtful, high-quality food that stands out in a crowded pizza scene. It's the kind of place you keep coming back to--not just because it's good, but because it's consistently memorable.
