Went there for the last time! The Pizza is so-so and the drinks are way over priced. My main complaint is the service, or lack of! I counted a 5 person crew and only one person making pizzas, who kept talking and taking breaks. I only wish I was the owner, I would have fired them all. I waited (only three people ahead of me) for at least 15 minutes before I was even talked to. This crew was the laziest bunch of loafers I have ever come across. It's so great the Auburn area is building up the number of GF and vegan-friendly eateries. (Note: If you have celiac, read their disclaimer on MOD's website; while we were there, they asked if they needed to change gloves but the crust and other procedures may not be suitable for celiac people.) Daiya cheese is an option here, so no more having to head to Vacaville for pizza! Each pizza size is one price, no matter how many toppings. Which is a nice change from the old school ways that "other" pizzarias do it. A GF crust is an extra $2, however. Salads are offered, but really, who comes here for salad? They also offer small Ding Dong-like cakes for dessert. Plenty of seating, booths around the back toward the bathrooms. As for the taste of the pizza, MAGNÍFICO! Ok so this was my first visit to this particular MOD pizza... I was not impressed. I ordered online and went to pickup. I stood directly under the "online order pickup" sign and was completely ignored by 2 employees working in that area. Finally I went over to the register and told her I was picking up online order. She told me to go back to the place that I was standing... so awhile later I got half of my order. "Here is half of it" I was told. I waited a sufficient amount of time and finally I had to ask someone about the rest of my order. Well it was there in the refrigerator. I got it and left. This is my first review I have ever done and I'm writing because the pizza was FANTASTIC. For what it is, it is worth every single penny. They don't charge extra for the tasty toppings, of which, they have quite the selection. As a vegetarian, I struggle to find a great pizza. A lot of times, raw veggies are thrown on a pizza with no consideration to how they actually taste and these were actually roasted beforehand. The crust was thin and perfect. I ordered online so I don't know what service is like in house, but they had my pizza ready and cut it in front of me when I was there, showing me how it looked before they closed the lid. Worst Mod experience to date. I have been frequenting this Mod about once a week for 4 years and was elated when Emily became the manager. The place was run like a well oiled machine. Since she has left, however, this location has been a disaster. Today was the last straw. No arugula, no spinach, no pineapple, all following a long wait just to order. This never happened, even during the worst of the pandemic, when Emily was running this location. To top it off the food prep area looks like a food tornado blew through. The pizza is great, but unfortunately after not eating pizza at MOD Pizza for over a year due to Covid-19 I dropped by last night for a pizza and my favorite root beer float only to find that they had removed it from the menu. Truly disappointing. A float with a refill was half the reason I liked Mod Pizza, and now that's gone. I asked one of the employees and they said that the ice cream machine had been removed, and that they didn't anticipate getting it back. 1 week ago i came back hungry and sl. tired from my Reno trip.Lots of hiking,visiting etc. Anyways ordered a bunch of good stuff and paid by CC. While eating my delicious food the cashier came out and questioned the amt I had signed for on my bill.I had overpaid by more than 3x the amount owed.Like i said I was tired and hungry.He had me sign corrected bill which saved me a lot. Pleasant surprise! I was interested in this concept of fast pizza but didn't have very high expectations being as it's a chain and figured it would be a crispy cracker thin crust, the likes of which don't float my boat. I ordered the double crust in order to mitigate a too thin crust but seeing other pizzas come out the crusts looked fine! They have a ton of toppings to choose from and I'm looking forward to trying more. As someone else mentioned the music was great (I won't patronize a business that plays rap) and the staff friendly. I jus stopped in with my girl cuz it was new. We first were surprised at how its any toppings for the same price and it worked like subway. We saw the preset options and decided to go with that. Mine was especially memorable. It was the Olivia, with pesto, tomatoes, basil, and i added onions and it was topped with a fig reduction drizzle. Absolutely delicious. When I heard MOD pizza was coming to Auburn, I pictured a scene that looked something like out of a Michelangelo painting. After a wet and rainy winter season, there was this shining moment when the dark clouds opened up and light descended from the sky. No, it was not the scorching summer heat--it was the sound of Angels giggling while they dropped their harps and took human form just so they could stand in line and order a bunch of Tylers. Of course, it's not actually Angels you hear doing all the giggling. In fact, it's not even the kids in spite of it being a popular spot for families since they've opened a month ago. It's the adults who seem to have the biggest smiles while they get to create their own little works of art-for-the-oven. This place has a fun vibe from the moment you walk-in the door and are greeted to the moment you sit at the "big kids" table in the middle of the room where you dive in with your buddies whole-heartedly. The service is prompt and friendly and you can tell they love working there just as much as you love eating there. The ingredients are plentiful and as diverse as you can allow yourself to imagine. And the taste. Ho ho hooooo the taste! Let's just say...the much more expensive other pizza joint in the vicinity needs an entire "Clubhouse" just to compete with it. ;) After all, you order a pizza at the MOD because you like that oven-burnt kissed-by-the-flames taste on the crust and goods for the same reason you like that charcoal flavor when you go and get BBQ. It's more interesting. And it's more authentic. ;) Yes, the MOD has a lot going for it. BTW, I made that up--that bit earlier about the Angels--I have no idea if Angels actually order food there or not. Was so excited to have a Mod in Auburn after moving from San Jose. The first time I got pizza was good until I bit into a chunk of hard plastic. So they reimbursed me and when I returned. The pizza was great! Then I went in again and because of the rain it was not busy. So not thinking to look at my pizza I took it home and guess what it was so burnt, it all I could do to eat around it. The Auburn location on Highway 49 stands out above most restaurants due to the superior level of customer service. Jared, the GM, has created an amazing culture amongst the staff there and goes out of his way to make sure all customers are taken care of (I see him regularly walking around to pick up trash as people finish eating).
