Steamed lobsters are delicious ! Fried belly clam platter was always a favorite too but I can no longer order it here. Moby's used to serve the greatest tartar sauce which accompanied the fried platters. Much to my disappointment, this year they are serving prepackaged Ken's tartar sauce which ruins the taste of the fried fish. Even the raw oysters were served with Ken's cocktail sauce. Not your usual "clam shack". The chef clearly knows how to cook the freshest of fish. The menu has something for everyone and it's BYOB for beer and wine! Without a doubt one of the most immaculate restaurants I've ever been to as everything is completely cleaned (including the floors) between guests so there's never leftover food on the floors or sticky tables and chairs. We have been coming to Moby Dicks for 25 years now. It is a pleasure to review Moby Dicks. Its the best place to eat on the cape. Bring your own beer, wine, mixed drinks and sit down to the freshest fish, great chowder, lobster roll etc. The waitstaff is excellent, they are well trained, they know the menu, and are always pleasant. Todd and Migs the owners are always on hand greeting customers and pitching in to help their staff. Moby's should be a business model for other restaurants on the cape. We have been eating at Moby's for over 15 years, several times per season. Our meal this trip was disappointing. The food wasn't as good as usual. My scallops were just okay and came with a little tub of Kens tartar sauce rather than house made. (My grandmother wouldn't recognize half of the ingredients. Propylene glycol alignate?) One of my daughters had her usual kids meal, grilled cheese, and they used the bread end. I wanted some plain water with dinner and had to wait in line behind wait staff to use the service sink in the dining room. Perhaps they're working out some kinks early in the peak season? read more

Stopped here after a day of touring lighthouses on the cape and heading up to Provincetown for a little too. The lobster roll platter is fantastic, claw and tail meat overflows from a nicely toasted new england bun lined with a single lettuce leaf. Fries and coleslaw were average but overall I left very satisfied. Highly recommend! read more

Just Average, definitely a place to scam tourists into paying too much for seafood. The lobsters were over cooked, the clams and oysters doesn't even seem fresh, the lobster bisque was disappointing, lobster roll was okay, the dungeness crab was blah. Did I mention the clam chowder was LUKE WARM to say the best? They seem to be charging Hotel prices for below average food served on their "picnic style" tables and paper plates with plastic ware. For the 4 of us we've spent about 220, not including drinks. it's BYOB which deserves a star and the staff are very friendly which deserves another star. As far as the view? non-existent. If you're going to the cape, might as well pick a place where you can actually enjoy the ocean view. I'd recommend others to stop by, take a few pics of their building, and decor, order one thing to share just to say that you've been there and move along. I wouldn't go all out. read more

Amazing for roadside seafood! I had the clams - a favorite of mine so I've had them many times - and they were some of the best I've had. The staff is so friendly and helpful; they have drawing and trivia to pass the time, though it's pretty quick to get served. You order at the front and they bring it to you. Incredible experience from start to finish. The owner of the restaurant was thoughtful and provided excellent service along with the rest of the staff (taught us how to clean steamers and provided us with a few containers of their delicious horseradish sauce). Used to be good...not so much now. Had an upset stomach for 2 days, I think the cooking oil was old. I was looking forward to having the fried onion, which used to be good. Now it was awful, slimy and greasy. The fried clams were soggy. The fish sandwich was skimpy. The cole slaw was o.k., so if you just want cole slaw, I recommend Moby Dick's. On Cape Cod, the traditional seafood shacks are a dime a dozen...and then there's Moby Dick's. Owned and operated by Todd and Mignon Barry, this is the standard by which all others are judged. The food is fresh, well-prepared and what you would expect from a beach town restaurant. We have been eating there a few times each year for the last 20 years and the food and service are always consistently top notch. The service is always courteous and accommodating and for the volume served, speedy and accurate. The owners Todd and Mignon are on site every day and it shows in their efficiently operated restaurant. Don't be daunted by the lines outside, it moves quickly and once you get inside you get served promptly. Another bonus is it's a BYO, so the overall dinner price remains reasonable. A wonderful restaurant in every way. The food is beautifully but simply prepared. Service was excellent. We had one cod and one scallop dish and they were as good as we've ever had. Even the background music was great (Billie Holiday, Sinatra, Chet Baker!) We spoke to the owners after our meal and they were extremely gracious. Was driving past Moby Dick's and decided to stop in.. My girlfriend and I were absolutely blown away by the absurdly nice and accommodating staff right away. The owner immediately got us settled by opening our bottle of wine, and getting us a bucket with ice. The girl behind the counter gave us wonderful suggestions about what to order and was extremely nice to us. We got a dozen oysters & a pound of mussels for appetizers - they were both incredible. Then we ordered the grilled seafood kebob platter and the fried whole clams platter to split for our entree - both were absolutely delicious. I was particularly mindblown by the fried whole clams, they were quite possibly the best I have ever had. When we were finished eating, the owner checked back in with us to make sure everything was to our liking, and the girl behind the counter was equally concerned with how we enjoyed our meal. Overall, the service was great, the people were extremely friendly and welcoming, and the food was on point. Would definitely go back here in a heartbeat! read more

We ate here before going to the nearby Wellfleet drive-in movie. Not crowded on a weeknight, but had the usual wait outside before entering to order and pay. We understand that process when busy, but seems cumbersome when not crowded. Good iced tea, crab cake on the salad and calamari. Highlight was the key lime pie for dessert. read more

Came here while on vacation in North Truro and decided to try this place with my family. Love that its BYOB and the prices are reasonable. They are organized and have a very good system for getting people in quickly even when there is a line, and they serve watermelon slices while you wait outside. The staff was very professional and attentive and made the experience very enjoyable. I got the steamed mussels and I would have to say they are the best Ive ever had, cooked perfectly and very big! The calamari app was also very good as was the other fried seafood dishes others in my group got. This will definitely be a place I would go back to next time I am in the area. read more

Fantastic service and great food. Depending on how busy they are you will wait in line outside chatting it up with others around you while reading the menu and talking with the staff. Once you enter, you select whether you want to eat in the dining room or in the open air dining area then you order your food and be seated. Ok, we decided to come here for lunch because we always saw this placed packed with cars so we though it must be good. What a disappointment!! The lobster roll was so bad, so bad that I could not eat it. Thanks to my hungry husband, he ate it but wasn't happy at all. For the price we expected a better food. Maybe it was a bad choice or a bad day, but it's so pricey that we won't be taking a chance again at this place. Also, we saw a nice couple having the same lobster roll with a very unhappy face, so I guess they didn't like it either! However I have to say that the restaurant has a nice atmosphere and great staff, but that is not that important when we are having a really bad food. read more

The freshest seafood, simply prepared. This is hands-down my favorite place for fried whole-belly clams, chowder and grilled swordfish. The salads are fresh and delicious. No liquor license, but if you want to bring your own they will supply ice buckets, openers and glasses (ok, they're plastic, but nice plastic). The staff is always friendly and helpful. You order at a counter then find a seat and everything is brought to your table. Don't let the long lines in August dissuade you, they operate like a well-oiled machine and there's always a table for you when you've placed your order and are ready to sit down. read more

went with my wife, parents, and sisters a couple days ago. There was a long line but since we'd been there before we knew to bring a cooler with us (its BYOB). I got some sort of fried fisherman's platter which was all very good. I think everyone else liked what they got. Prices are high but its quality food in the cape so what do you expect? Also you can save on beer / wine expense since its BYOB. We'll be back next summer I'm sure. read more

Great place. Has a vegan veggie burger with a gluten free bun and vegan lemon sorbet for desert along with a lot of other seafood options. It was nice having a clearly marked vegan option at a restaurant that the rest of my family could enjoy, too. We stopped in on our way back from p town and I was excited to have something other than just sides or a salad that I had to take out half of the ingredients to make it vegan. The ordering process here is a little different. From a normal restaurant. While waiting in line to enter the restaurant, you are given a menu so that you can order your food and pay at the front counter before being seated. This makes the process of waiting go faster. My family enjoyed the fish and chips, swordfish steak, blu bacon salad, crab cakes, blueberry crisp, and key lime pie. They said everything was excellent. If I ever visit this area again, I would definitely stop at moby dicks again! The staff was kind and attentive. So happy to have a vegan option in a normal restaurant. Delightful local place with fresh seafood cooked well and served quickly (by a wonderful international staff of well-trained, polite and cheerful young people). Very clean, always delicious, a menu to please everyone and the owner always out among the customers thanking them for their business and making sure all is perfect with their dining experience. Hard to pick a favorite dish - all the seafood dishes are excellent. The soups are very good and the lobster bisque is outstanding, but the seafood gumbo and clam chowder are wonderful too. The "Cape Cod Salad" is always great! The hamburgers are tasty and perfectly cooked. The ice tea is wonderful. The staff may be the best one on the Cape with every face smiling at you and caring about serving you. An added bonus: this is an eco-friendly restaurant that takes care to recycle everything possible. We live in Wellfleet and come here twice a week and dine here with friends frequently. read more

The place is very good. I got a lobster salad, my husband got broiled scallops and we split the crab cakes which were delicious. The place is not big on salads. Mine was tiny sized and my husband returned his. It was a salad of cut of vegetables but when the salad arrived it was more like the vegetables were almost whole. But this is a place to order seafood and they do that very well. I saw a bunch of customers eating lobsters which looked beautiful. Next time I will order the fish and chips. I have a hard time with removing lobsters from their shell. I read some people complaining about the wait staff. The wait staff were these very nice high school kids. The person at the register patiently explained to my husband his ordering options and when he complained about his salad they replaced it with no questions asked. The only thing I did not love is the price. I think the crab cakes were $20 for 2 and my salad was $24 and there was virtually no salad. Giving it four stars because of the price. read more

as always, food was delicious, service was top notch. the wait was very reasonable as we only waited about 5 to 10 minutes. they have some of the best clam chowder on cape cod. the whole belly clams were a definite hit. the servers are from all over the world and are very helpful. the owners also are there and help out. this is great to see. looking ford to going there again either this year or on our next visit. read more
