i think any time a place has merchandise the second you walk up it should be a little bit of a red flag that it is a tourist trap and it made me want to turn around, but it was late and we needed some grub. great outdoor seating area. this seems more of a local spot and less of a show stopping seafood spot. fishermans platter offered more than expected but i wasn't as impressed as i thought i would be - still, chowed this down within 30 minutes. service was quick and kind and happy to seat us. good spot - maybe need fryer oil changed? read more

Ambiance is nice. Can be seated outdoor and there is a turtle name Sal inside. Food : tasted good! I am not very used to chips. I thought they would be served hot lol but the shrimp was good along with the sauce Service was good and waitress was very nice So yes, i would go for a second time :) read more

Love the location, particularly the outside dining space. Great menu, choices for the whole family. We are Repeat customers, sometimes there is inconsistent quality in the fried food, but otherwise a reliable good, relaxing meal in a great location. read more

Great food. A bit pricey for the offerings but we still go. Usually we get take out. Definitely recommend. One recommendation is they invest in some better chairs for their table. The folding chairs just don't allow one to sit properly at the table and the plastic ones are just uncomfortable. read more

One of the best bowls of clam chowda I have ever had. I don't know what spices they put in their broth, but it was so delicious and lots of clams and potatoes, just a great bowl of deliciousness. My only concern was I thought they could have been a little more generous on the clams with bellies for the prices they charge. read more

As ubiquitous as the beaches, lobster rolls define Cape Cod. The toasted buns, the heaping mound of lobster meat, the tang of the cole slaw. Staying in North Truro, having Captain's Choice nearby meant I didn't have to battle summer traffic on Rt.6. My order was placed and ready for pick-up in 5 minutes. The lobster roll hit the spot --- pure comfort and all was right in the world once more. Their homemade chips offer something unique and tasty,though unfortunately I found them a little overdone. Lots of indoor and outdoor seating, friendly and efficient service, easy parking, and a sure bet for your seafood hankerings. read more

First time here. Extensive menu with fried and grilled seafood and fish options, some fun appetizers like tuna sashimi and stuffed quahog. Several types of fish tacos and salads a bonus. And for the landlubbers, fried chicken and ribs. Super casual and dog friendly (they even have a few items in the menu just for your pup) makes this another gem in Truro. read more

Before I get going, a strong 4. I will have to admit, somewhere within the period when I first pulled up and had my water served to me in a plastic cup I was like uh oh. however their ceasar salad, stuffed shrimp and lobster roll are pretty good. Was driving back down the cape and wanted a lobster roll and that was what Captain's Choice was advertising, so we stopped and ate our lobster roll. It was definitely worth the stop. The service was really friendly and unlike a lot of east coast restaraunts, they continued to fill up our soda and water. The lobster roll was fresh and had great flavor. Also, I really liked the coleslaw, which isn't too surprising, give that I am a big slaw fan. The chowda was good too. Just overall everything that we got on the menu was great. So it is worth the time to go. read more

We recently ate here and got the captains platter and it was not good. The scallops stunk real bad and were way to salty they didn't have that light sweet taste fresh scallops are supposed to have the clams where the same they were smelly and to salty. Everything else on the platter was fine not good the fish was dry. The best item was definitely the grilled cheese and chili. If a seafood restaurants best food isn't seafood that says something. Don't eat here spend your hard earned dollar somewhere else. read more

Food was fine, however the chefs could tone down on the sourness of the calamari salad. What really led me to write this review was the extreme rudeness of our server. From the beginning when she was taking our orders, she was very curt and seemed annoyed at our questions. No "Hi, how are you, what can I get for you guys?" Nothing like that. Just plain "what do you want for drinks?" with a dead stare. I realized afterwards that she really did not want to serve us in the first place. We ordered a fish taco, a lobster taco, and a salad. When the food arrived, we saw that she only brought the fish taco and the salad, so we asked if the lobster taco was on the way. She responded in a very condescending way, saying that we never ordered that in the beginning (we did). We were all thinking wtf, but whatever, I guess she had a long day... After the meal, my mother wanted to finish the beer that we ordered outside, since customers were beginning to wait in line. As we were walking out, the same server saw me and snatched the plastic cup from my hand, saying "you can't take that outside" and briskly walked back in the restaurant. It wasn't a "hi, I'm sorry, but the beer isn't allowed outside the premise." I was left there standing and thinking wtf. I understand we should have known better about taking our drink out, but that is NO WAY to treat a customer. We didn't get her name, but she was tall, blond, old, and wrinkly. And very bitchy. read more

My friends and I just had dinner here and it was DELISH! I had a really yummy burger, one friend had scallop tacos, and the other had fish and chips. We all really enjoyed the food as well as the eclectic atmosphere. Plus, OMG, homemade potato chips!!! We took one of each kind of cookie back to our rental for later. They will make a terrific accompaniment to drinks and a game of "Cards Against Humanity." read more

Unpretentious environment. Mostly outdoor seating. Dog friendly. Excellent staff and a regular crowd. Straight-forward dishes to fit any mood from hot dogs, burgers, tacos and lobster rolls to tuna sashimi and oysters and stuffed qyahog and entrees and nightly specials (which aren't as satisfying as the more basic fare). Your fancy friends might further be put off by plastic baskets and water glasses but there are enough fussier places in Ptown to fit that bill. Not terribly less expensive than other eateries but won't break the bank either. read more

Food is alright. We had a very unfriendly server who seemed downright angry the whole time she was serving us. We are absolutely disgusted with the way she behaved, and she has ruined the whole experience for us. For reference, she was a tall white lady who looked to be in her forties or fifties. Either fire her or train her better. read more

Well the food tastes good but be aware, I paid $35 dollars for scallops and clams. I got 4 scallops and maybe 10 clams. Seems a bit expensive. I don't think I'll be back even tho I'm here every summer. read more

Stumbled in here and so happy that we did. Great COVID safety measures. Heads up that they do ask customers to wear a mask when talking to servers, which seems totally reasonable to me, but I could see someone getting upset about it... We ordered wings and oysters, plus a few beers. The food was a great. Service was a little iffy, we had a friendly person and then a not-so-friendly. It was really busy though, so we understood. Been going here since it opened-3 weeks a year. Called ahead this year (we're a party of 6) and told they don't take reservations but to arrive before 6:00. Arrived 5:30 and hostess said "oh party of 6, are you Jenny's friend?" We said no and she said about 15 minute wait. We waited with our 4 children, and a party of 6 and got seated right away in the center of the seating area. They must have been Jenny's friends. We asked if they could put two tables together and they said no. Then the hostess told us it would be more like 30 minutes and maybe we should just do takeout instead. To add insult to injury while our four children are incredibly disappointed and hungry, a man in Jenny's party sat there laughing at our predicament. All in all, we went to Moby Dicks and had a fantastic meal with impeccable service. Captains Choice is not the place to go with a party of more than two. Limited seating, limited menu, inexperienced staff, overpriced. We will never be back. read more

Which was great for us , however the dog friendly area is limited to standing area only . Note the restaurant does get pretty busy ! The beach itself is beautiful however the beach view is limited from the restaurant ( unless it on the outdoor bar area .. which can also get crowded too ) I ordered the garden salad with chicken and balsamic vinaigrette! The salad was made with fresh ingredients , chicken was cooked perfectly and I enjoyed my meal ! The salad was large and filling ! They also offer a variety of seafood options which I heard were amazing so I will be back to try more dishes.

There's plenty of bike parking by the beer yard. It was a nice day so we wanted to sit outside and have a few beers in the Hog Island beer garden. Service was great. They were getting prepared for the busy season training some folks, and everyone was very friendly and hospitable. The beer garden itself was a huge grassy area with plenty of seating, a mix of picnic tables and regular tables with chairs. Despite it being right by the woods it didn't seem too buggy which was really nice. After hanging out a bit we decided to get dinner there. We were able to order food right at the beer garden and pick it up at the take out window. The food was awesome! We got a bowl of clam chowder, loaded tater tots, and the Rt 6 bacon cheeseburger with a side of greens. First, they're not messing around when they say 'loaded' tots! Some places put a sad little drizzle of cheese sauce on top, but theirs were thoroughly covered with a delicious beer cheese sauce, fresh bacon, and scallions. The clam chowder was great! Not too thick, lots of clams and clam flavor. And the burger was amazing! A nice, thick, juicy patty that was perfectly cooked, a really fresh brioche style bun with lots of flavorful toppings. We walked through the restaurant itself to use the bathroom and it seemed like they had a lot of seating, a nice bar, and a patio area. The only bathrooms being inside the restaurant was a little annoying, but I'm going to give them the benefit of the doubt that they'll have some port-o-potties by the beer yard come the full fledged busy season. Overall a really nice time and we look forward to returning!
