We were really disappointed with our meal, especially for the price. In total, we spent $77 for the fried clams, a Caesar salad, and two stuffed quahogs. The $35 fried clam plate came with fries and about 7-8 full-belly clams. At that price, it comes out to roughly $4.40 to $5.00 per clam. For comparison, a dozen oysters at many places would be cheaper per piece, which makes this feel really hard to justify, especially because the clams were soggy and not crisp. The stuffed quahogs were also disappointing. They weren't baked in shells and were served on pieces of lettuce, which felt odd. They were very greasy and soggy. The Caesar salad was basically bagged romaine with a few croutons and barely any dressing, and even the coleslaw had very little flavor. To be fair, we did call and mention that the fried clams were unacceptable, and the staff was accommodating and refunded the clam plate, which we appreciated. But they only refunded the clams, and overall, for a $77 meal, the quality just wasn't there. We rarely complain, but this meal was really disappointing. read more

i think any time a place has merchandise the second you walk up it should be a little bit of a red flag that it is a tourist trap and it made me want to turn around, but it was late and we needed some grub. great outdoor seating area. this seems more of a local spot and less of a show stopping seafood spot. fishermans platter offered more than expected but i wasn't as impressed as i thought i would be - still, chowed this down within 30 minutes. service was quick and kind and happy to seat us. good spot - maybe need fryer oil changed? read more

Was driving back down the cape and wanted a lobster roll and that was what Captain's Choice was advertising, so we stopped and ate our lobster roll. It was definitely worth the stop. The service was really friendly and unlike a lot of east coast restaraunts, they continued to fill up our soda and water. The lobster roll was fresh and had great flavor. Also, I really liked the coleslaw, which isn't too surprising, give that I am a big slaw fan. The chowda was good too. Just overall everything that we got on the menu was great. Food was fine, however the chefs could tone down on the sourness of the calamari salad. What really led me to write this review was the extreme rudeness of our server. From the beginning when she was taking our orders, she was very curt and seemed annoyed at our questions. No "Hi, how are you, what can I get for you guys?" Nothing like that. Just plain "what do you want for drinks?" with a dead stare. I realized afterwards that she really did not want to serve us in the first place. We ordered a fish taco, a lobster taco, and a salad. When the food arrived, we saw that she only brought the fish taco and the salad, so we asked if the lobster taco was on the way. She responded in a very condescending way, saying that we never ordered that in the beginning (we did). We were all thinking wtf, but whatever, I guess she had a long day... After the meal, my mother wanted to finish the beer that we ordered outside, since customers were beginning to wait in line. As we were walking out, the same server saw me and snatched the plastic cup from my hand, saying "you can't take that outside" and briskly walked back in the restaurant. It wasn't a "hi, I'm sorry, but the beer isn't allowed outside the premise." I was left there standing and thinking wtf. We recently ate here and got the captains platter and it was not good. The scallops stunk real bad and were way to salty they didn't have that light sweet taste fresh scallops are supposed to have the clams where the same they were smelly and to salty. Everything else on the platter was fine not good the fish was dry. The best item was definitely the grilled cheese and chili. If a seafood restaurants best food isn't seafood that says something. My friends and I just had dinner here and it was DELISH! I had a really yummy burger, one friend had scallop tacos, and the other had fish and chips. We all really enjoyed the food as well as the eclectic atmosphere. Plus, OMG, homemade potato chips!!! We took one of each kind of cookie back to our rental for later. Straight-forward dishes to fit any mood from hot dogs, burgers, tacos and lobster rolls to tuna sashimi and oysters and stuffed qyahog and entrees and nightly specials (which aren't as satisfying as the more basic fare). Your fancy friends might further be put off by plastic baskets and water glasses but there are enough fussier places in Ptown to fit that bill. Been going here since it opened-3 weeks a year. Called ahead this year (we're a party of 6) and told they don't take reservations but to arrive before 6:00. Arrived 5:30 and hostess said "oh party of 6, are you Jenny's friend?" We said no and she said about 15 minute wait. We waited with our 4 children, and a party of 6 and got seated right away in the center of the seating area. They must have been Jenny's friends. We asked if they could put two tables together and they said no. Then the hostess told us it would be more like 30 minutes and maybe we should just do takeout instead. To add insult to injury while our four children are incredibly disappointed and hungry, a man in Jenny's party sat there laughing at our predicament.
