Had dinner with some friends and we liked our experience. Our waiter Leandro was very nice and friendly. After getting our drink order, he came back placing all the drinks next to my husband, instead of placing the drink next to the person who ordered the drink. We had to move the drinks around. The food itself was not bad, the crab and avocado salad was tasty and light......my grilled octopus app was tough and overcooked, but my Coconut Cod entree was nicely done and well prepared. I asked for black pepper right after getting my entree and I never got it. My husband's short rib mac n cheese was good but way overly salty. The experience was not bad but not excellent.

I don't often write restaurant reviews, but I've been to Helltown Kitchen several times and feel like they've earned one. They've been consistently excellent--great food, warm service, and a lively, comfortable atmosphere. The dishes are always flavorful and satisfying, and the lobster risotto, in particular, is outstanding. It's rare to find a place that delivers this well, every time.

Tonight's dinner was one of the best I have eaten in Provincetown. The appetizer spring rolls were superb, the short ribs over Mac and Cheese were the best Mac and Cheese I have ever eaten. The lobster risotto is without equal. Lastly, the tres leches was sinfully wonderful. The service was prompt and gracious and the ambiance was equal to the food.

I came to Helltown Kitchen with my family already knowing what I was going to order. I ordered the shrimp vindaloo and it came with rice and naan. The food was amazing. I order the vindaloo every time I stop by. We also really enjoy the outdoor seating, and the service is really quick. If you stop by Helltown Kitchen be sure to check out the interior because their wall decorations are beautiful and the wallpaper stands out. There are a lot of great options, even though I usually stick to the same thing. I've also gotten a taste of the Elote Corn. I haven't visited the restaurant a lot during my visits but every time I stop by, I love the experience.

We went twice in three days this year. Favorite restaurant in Provincetown; small and eclectic menu, excellent service, relaxing and elegant atmosphere and dog-friendly. A win-win-win. Look at the photos: we loved the avocado crab salad as an appetizer (I would have that one for lunch!). I tried both the lobster risotto on one night and the black rice scallop risotto on another instance - can't decide on which one I love more. My dinner partner had the steak (in a coconut sauce - superhealthy) and the seafood medley. All cooked to perfection and very recommended. Bottom line: this is our very favorite restaurant in P-town. 5 stars for food, atmosphere, service, comfort, privacy and elegance. And superb staff and owner. I suspect one of the reasons we'll be back to Ptown next year, will be to dine at Helltown.

    Beautiful back patio

Helltown is the place to be! The food was FANTASTIC and wonderfully prepared. There is great outdoor seating in a lovely back patio as well as indoor dining too! The staff are incredibly friendly and hardworking. What a beautiful place!

The green goddess dressing on the spring vegetable salad really stood out! It balanced out the sweetness of the fresh peas. I ordered the scallop and shrimp entree ($43) which came with coconut basmati rice, grilled asparagus, and a bright mango salad. I'm still thinking about the flavor on the seafood--I was practically licking the plate! My dining partner got the lamb skewer ($28) and particularly liked the side sauce it came with. We finished with the lemon tart ($13), which was like a deconstructed lemon bar. It came with a sugar cookie on the side and fresh mint. It was so good that we were scraping the bowl! The service was swift and professional. Overall, Joon's vibe is stylish, upscale, and perfect for a special night out!

The ambience is lovely...it feels high-end without being pretentious. Food choices provide something for everyone, including those with any kind of gluten sensitivity and other dietary restrictions. Our server was excellent and all of the food was outstanding. Personally, I thought that my salmon was one of the best pieces of cooked salmon I've ever had. (I prefer my salmon raw and tend to shy away from cooked salmon because it's usually overcooked and dry.) Others at the table had the duck sliders, the special oxtail soup, the burger and a different fish dish. Rave reviews all around. Cocktails were also well done! Dessert was decadent and was plenty for sharing. I will definitely visit Joon again when I'm in town.

While some loved the moody, dark basement vibe of the old space and others hated it, the new spot is a complete flip--bright, airy, with huge windows and great patio seating. They even saved a few old decorations as a nice nod to the past. We celebrated a friend's birthday here, and having the amazing Holly as our server made it even better. She's taken care of us tons of times at the original location and always goes above and beyond for us. Thanks, Holly! The food was flawless. Huge, piping-hot portions of the Shrimp Fra Diavolo, Donini Pasta, Chicken Francese, Chicken Parm, and rack of lamb. Somehow, we still found room to scarf down the flourless chocolate cake and bread pudding for dessert. They are going to be slammed during the busy season, especially being located at the ferry dock. EXTREMELY DISTURBING EXPERIENCE WITH THE WAITER!…read more This took place around 9:00 PM on Thursday, June 4. Our group consisted of three couples dining together. At the end of the meal, we asked if the bill could be split into thirds. Our waiter, Martin P., told us that he would not split the check and instead instructed us to write down exactly what each person ordered so that he could charge us separately. Although no other restaurant we visited in Provincetown required us to do this, we followed his instructions and listed our individual items. When Martin returned, he was visibly upset and stated that our payments were approximately $70 short. There was confusion because our group was trying to determine who had already paid, who had not, and whether something had been missed in the calculations. I even asked whether we were expected to calculate individual tax amounts ourselves, as no one knew what tax would be for each separate charge. Rather than calmly helping us resolve the discrepancy, Martin began yelling at our group. At one point he stated, "If I don't get $70, I am going to charge one of the credit cards that I have." This immediately concerned us. We were not refusing to pay. We were actively trying to understand where the discrepancy occurred and make sure the restaurant received the full amount owed. To resolve the issue, one of my friends and I went with Martin into a back room to review the charges. After reviewing everything, my friend agreed to pay the remaining balance immediately. The payment was processed and the bill was fully paid. At that point I was trying to calm the situation and bring it to a close. Instead, Martin became even more agitated and began yelling profanities at us. He shouted, "Get the f*** out of my restaurant! It's people like you why we don't split checks! You all need to get the f*** out now!" Other people started noticing this go down. We were stunned. The bill had been paid. Nobody was attempting to leave without paying. We were simply trying to resolve a billing issue after following the waiter's instructions. As we were leaving, my wife later told me that Martin placed his HAND ON HER BACK and guided her toward the exit. While it was not forceful, it felt unnecessary and added to an already hostile and intimidating experience. What happened next is why I ultimately decided to write this review. A few days later, while walking through Provincetown looking for a place to have lunch, our group passed The Mayflower Food & Drink and noticed Martin working there. When he saw us, he deliberately tapped on the glass to get our attention. After making eye contact, he made a hand gesture across his neck and pointed for us to leave and keep walking. The original incident had already ended. The bill had been paid. Yet days later he still felt the need to single out our group and signal that we were unwelcome. Had this simply been confusion over a split check, I would not be writing this review. Billing mistakes happen. What I cannot overlook is being threatened with unauthorized credit card charges, being screamed at with profanity while attempting to resolve the issue, being ordered out after the bill had been paid, Martin touching my wife, and then encountering the same employee days later making a gesture directed at our group from another restaurant. This experience was troubling enough that I believe others should be aware of it.
