I've always wanted to try this place, we drive by it all the time on our way to Provincetown. We are locals but live a few towns over so it's not always at the top of our minds. We were recently invited by friends to join them for dinner at Moby Dicks and we accepted, excited to try it. I have to say it has been the single most impressive visit I have ever had on Cape Cod. All these years, who knew! I've eaten at Lobster Pot, CBI, the Wequassett, the Wayside, Pelham House and several other top restaurants on this peninsula and none of them have left me feeling like Moby Dicks. From the moment I pulled into the parking lot that was chock full of cars and was assisted with parking my car by a very nice young man to standing in line and being offered fresh tasty watermelon while I waited to the young woman who came around and collected our watermelon rinds to the unbelievably nice staff who kept checking on us during out meal. Who does all this these days? Speaking to the staff, I became aware of their accents. They are from all over the world...Croatia, North Africa and so many more far away places. They spoke very highly of the restaurant's owners and actually said they loved working there. This is a win win situation folks. The staff is happy which encourages them to show up for work - unlike so many places these days. This makes the bosses happy which trickles down to the customer who ends up with the best part of the deal...great food at reasonable prices and a hell of a staff to serve you! I don't do reviews but felt propelled to leave this one. Kudos to you Moby Dicks for making families, friends, couples, etc have one of the best nights of their Summer! Oh BTW, I had the blackened swordfish, my boyfriend had the whole belly clams and our friends had the captain's plate and the kabobs - all of it was fabulous and cooked perfectly. This place never disappoints and is my go-to place for a whole big lobster (1.5-2lbs). You can get it with a New England clambake but I don't recommend it - the clams are very sandy! The steamers here were clean, fresh, tender, and reasonably priced. They alone are worth a visit. The kabobs are on the pricier side, but they're served in decent portions, well-seasoned, and a great option if you're looking for something lighter yet still satisfying. We tried the fish, shrimp, and the steak kabobs, and everything was cooked well and great flavor. The jumbo lobster roll, however, felt a bit overpriced for what it delivered. While it was generous in size, it lacked a bit of flavor compared to expectations at that price point. Overall, a good experience but I'd say skip the lobster roll. read more

I had the seafood Skewer which came Out burnt and cold. We told the waiter and he said that's how it is made. Then another waitress took it away and asked what I would like while waiting. I like the vibe here. It has a touristy feel, but it was nice and clean and decor was good. Servers were friendly. ordering was a little awkward as your order at the front, and then get seated. We got there early, so there wasn't anyone there, but i can imagine it getting difficult if the place gets busy. The seafood special platter, fish and chips and fish sandwich all were delicious and well fried. The seafood is not fishy tasting at all and was light and delicate. Tartar sauce was good and complemented the seafood well (i think this tartar sauce was a little more tart/sour, which I liked). The Chowder did not have much clam in it though .... mostly potato. I would probably avoid that next time. Price seemed fair to me too. my family enjoyed our visit here. read more

Moby Dick's was the surprise delight of our trip to the Cape! So good we ate there two nights in a row. It seems to have a generally long line to wait to get in around dinner time, but since it's BYOB, the line is part of the experience! The restaurant itself is decked out like a cozy clam shack, and on a side note, is extremely clean. Once you order at the front counter, you are shown to a table by genuinely friendly staff. They'll provide a bucket of ice for your bottle of wine, that you enjoy while having some of the freshest seafood on the Cape. It's extremely dog and kid friendly (they even have a full dog menu), and you can't go wrong with your order - whether it's a "Nantucket bucket or a lobster roll or a Moby burger. Strawberry shortcake for dessert (on a biscuit - the only way to do it) is *chef's kiss*. Bring your fam and a nice bottle of wine and have a lovely night. read more

We decided to try Moby's again after a four year hiatus. The last time we went there was sand in the clams, not an enjoyable experience. We went with our family a couple weeks ago, the burger, fish and chips, scallop sandwich and bloomin' onion were great. We decided to go back last week. The bloomin' onion had uncooked batter in the center and onion skins in the outer part. It was inedible. The clams in my clam roll were crunchy and overcooked. In my message to the owner there was no apology. He simply said to send the food back in the future. He's not wrong in that regard. However, what I really wanted to hear was that he'd speak to the kitchen and at least would try to rectify it. Nope. My complaint isn't the only one. Food prep and ensuring all is well starts at the top. We won't be returning. read more

We both ordered the Cape Cod salad - a fresh and delicious mix of mesclun greens, candied pecans, sweet dried cranberries, bleu cheese, pear slices, with raspberry vinaigrette on the side. We added scallops as a protein( grilled to perfection, sweet and delicious) and a side of corn on the cob. We sat inside and enjoyed, as ever, the historic Cape Cod maritime decor. Moby Dick's is a great spot for family seafood dinners with ample seating both inside and out. Sometimes, there can be a long wait, but that reflects their popularity. Their lobster dinners are always decent, and they offer a nice option to include clams and corn as a boil. One of our lobster dinners included a tail full of eggs, which the waitress was quick to bring back to the kitchen to be cleaned. The lobster roll is just okay here, if comparing to other restaurants on the Cape. We did also have someone in our group order the fish sandwich, which was a relatively small portion. Our favorite dish was the mussels in white wine, which is outstanding. The broth it comes in is absolutely delicious, and needs extra bread to soak it all up! read more

I had the broiled codfish sandwich. The fish was really good but the bun could not hold up to the juice from the fish. I ended up eating the fish and the bread separately. The fish was really juicy and tender. I liked it a lot. The French fries were good but needed some salt. After I added salt they were really good. The service was good. They kept my water glass full. Was passing by and decided to grab something to eat and came across this restaurant. Host greeted me, gave menus and quickly ushered me through the ordering process (ahead of a large group that was about to order...which I appreciated). Seating area was noisy with a lot of larger groups/families so I opted to sit outside which was peaceful and largely unseated due to overcast weather. Drink and food quickly arrived. Lobster Roll was good...all meat with little dressing/mayo...and was quite a bit of lobster meat. Every staff member was friendly, helpful and very pleasant. I've been coming to the cape my whole life and had never experienced Moby Dicks, but was pleasantly surprised! Just like most seafood shacks down the cape you wait in line to outside to order at the counter, then chose where you want to sit. This is a BYOB establishment also which I found to be really cool. The menu had some really great items, but I opted for the 1.5lb lobster at MKT price. So good and had lots of meat! My friends enjoyed their picks as well! My expectations were exceeded! The hype around Moby Dick's is real. The greeter and our server were very friendly, and our food was brought out incredibly quickly (~5-10 min after ordering). I'm so impressed with the food- we all got codfish, all broiled/ fried beautifully. The fry on the fish and chips is the most delicate/light I've ever seen, not crispy though if that's your thing. The bacon blue salad was SO good, a perfect appetizer for 3 people. Portions are huge but light. My one critique is that the fries were slightly understated and a bit inconsistent (crunchy vs soggy) but that's not an issue for me, and that the bun on my sandwich got soggy quickly (probably because of my lemon and the fish juices). 100% will return the next time I'm on the cape! read more

An older couple asked us to take a picture of them at a lighthouse on Cape Cod. Then when we had a brief conversation with them, they told us about this place and said it is the best restaurant on Cape Cod. That is debatable, but we thought we'd give it a try after exploring the coastal area around Princeville. The process is unique. You go inside to peruse the menu, order, pay and then select a seating area. We chose to sit inside in a quiet area of the restaurant. Fairly quickly a server brought out the oysters we had ordered. They were quite good. Shortly after that our main course was brought out. We both ordered the jumbo lobster rolls with coke slaw and fries. We also ordered a side of broccoli to get some vegetables into our meal. The food was quite good. The lobster in the roll was very plentiful. We met the owner Todd, who appreciated our compliments about his restaurant. It is obvious that he keeps a close eye on everything going on in his place.
