I've passed The Wicked Oyster countless times on my annual trips to the Cape as a lifelong devotee, but this was my first venture inside and it did not disappoint! Service was excellent - the host accommodated our last-minute request for outdoor seating and our waiter was super friendly and knowledgeable. My fiancé and I ordered the Wellfleet oysters with mignonette and the house focaccia (both a must try!) to start, and the scallops and daily catch (yellowfin tuna) as our mains. Patio was lively, with fun music and cute lighting, without being overcrowded or too loud. Overall we had a perfect night and will definitely be back! read more

For those considering The Wicked Oyster for dinner, I highly caution you to consider otherwise. My husband and I (age 40) visited The Wicked Oyster Provisions shop the day before our dining experience and had a wonderful time. The woman working in the shop was hosting a wine tasting, and we left with some delicious provisions as a result. Because of our great experience, we booked a dinner reservation for the restaurant the next evening. Upon arriving for our reservation, we were promptly seated at a 4-top table in the front room. It was a cloudy day, but even so the room was quite dark. One guest dining was using a phone flashlight in an attempt to read the menu at 6pm. A tea light candle would have done worlds for not only the lighting, but the overall ambiance. While the interior paint color was lovely, the 90's hotel art and Home Depot lighting left a lot to be desired. We ordered the fingerling potatoes, Wellfleet oysters, scallops, and lobster cavatelli. The fingerling potatoes (our snack) came out at the same time as our appetizer (the oysters). We were disappointed that the potatoes were quite dry and overcooked atop what tasted equivalent to a jarred romesco sauce. We quickly ran out of sauce in an attempt to resuscitate the potatoes. The oysters were fine, but not notably different than the Wellfleet oysters we purchase from Whole Foods at home, in Colorado. My husband ordered the scallops, which were served in a seasonal corn sauce with zucchini and peaches. The scallop portion was generous, but the sauce left a lot to be desired. He described it as more of an unseasoned creamed corn than a sauce and there wasn't a pine nut (as advertised) in sight. My pasta was equally disappointing. At this price point, I expected a fresh rolled pasta, which was not the case. The pasta was quite flavorless and the "sauce" was runny and unseasoned. It was also served with a fork, which was quite comical for both my husband and the two tables around us with his watery the sauce was. I might also note that I received a quarter-sized chunk of parm on top, rather than a grated garnish. Thinking it was a chunk of lobster, I bit into it and was quite surprised. The service was attentive, but felt a lot more casual than we expected. We were surprised to see what many of the service staff were dressed in athleisure attire. At this price point, I would expect otherwise. We were glad that our water glasses stayed full, but wish that had been with the sparkling water we ordered, rather than the still water poured. Our sparkling water bottle remained largely full as a result. Overall, we are unable to recommend this restaurant. This is only our third year traveling to the Cape, but would far recommend restaurants like The Pheasant, Baliene, or Chatham Fish Pier over this experience. We left thankful that this wasn't our last night in town and had one more chance to enjoy a nice dinner on the Cape. read more

Sometimes I struggle with the limitations of star-rating when writing Yelp reviews. I teeter-totter between 3 and 4...4 and 5...and wish that I could award half stars; that I could hedge my bets and half commit. That was not the case with The Wicked Oyster. On a chilled November evening, my family tucked ourselves into the warmth of The Wicked Oyster for a meal we're already reminiscing about only 24-hours later. Chosen for their namesake, we ordered six raw oysters upon arrival. This was my mom and brother's first raw oyster, and they became converts upon first slurp. Though I know they're spoiled to have such exceptional oysters as their first, I don't begrudge them the experience. That initial serving of oysters went down with such rave reviews, we were left with no other choice but to expedite a repeat order. To start, I crunched on the Little Gem Salad and dreamt of slathering every meal in it's sherry mustard vinaigrette. It was just the thing to occupy my mind and palate in anticipation of the main course. Diagnosed with a "Hankering For Red Meat," I chose the 8oz Hanger Streak (pictured.) If I could pen this entry in drool, I would. The meal was sublime on every count. I wanted to linger, to draw out the night as long as possible. But all good things must come to and end, and so must our night at The Wicked Oyster. Played out by a live cellist (!), we floated to the car with leftovers in hand, dreaming of a restaurant like this at home, while thankful for the preservation of memory. Where do I begin with this place. As my wife said it "this was exactly what I was hoping for to start our vacation in Cape Cod" The oysters were delicious the focaccia with butter and prosciutto added refreshed the pallet and the star of the show the clam stew. I was a bit hesitant about ordering the stew but I'm so glad I did. The consistency of the broth and the heartiness of the beans and bacon pairs well with the clams. If you are ever in Wellfleet or passing by I suggest stopping here for some good food. Our server was friendly and informative about the menu. If you like food with 5 more ingredients than necessary....this is the place for you. A good looking plate of "marinated " to a mush beets with walnut "butter" aka flavorless tan paste and golden raisins....all a sweet disappointment. Fortunately the foccacia was salty and the burrata always a treat . The mushroom dish was drowned in a very tasty sauce. The waitress couldn't have been nicer. We'll stick with the basics. read more

We had dinner at 8:00 PM on 9/19/2025, My wife and I come to the Outer Cape every two or three years for the last decade and half or so. The Wicked Oyster is one our mainstays and it did not disappoint this time either. Regretfully I have not completed reviews in the past. Our 8:00 PM reservation was ready when we got there. The restaurant is an old but refurbished building. It has low ceilings and lot of hard wood surfaces. I remember at one time it was quite loud but it appears that several (i.e. many) sound panels have been installed which made for a pleasant experience. You could actually converse with people at your table . The music was distinctly background. A+ for this Wicked Oyster. Our waitress was knowledgeable about the menu ,friendly and took care of us well . Our courses were served in a prompt but not rushed and orderly progression. More pluses The food was creative and delicious. The Little Gem salad was plenty for two to share and the lighly dressed lettuce, nuts and radishes was a great blend of flavors. I want that sherry mustard vinaigrette. For entrees I had the New England Clam stew. This dish was certainly an invention and a very tasty one at that. The stew with a thinner broth reminiscent of a Rhode Island clam chowder but much more intensely flavored and thickened by the white beans was outstanding. The flavors of the chopped quahogs, the herbs, celery, the beans and the smoked bacon were delightful and the large sourdough crouton soaked up the broth nicely. Wonderful. It made a satisfying dinner without being heavy . My wife had the Steamed Mussels Spanish style. This starter was enough for one as an entree. The mussels were nicely cooked but that pimento, chorizo , saffron broth was out of this world yummy. I would take a bowl of that on its own. One of the many excellent meals we have had over the years. The house wine was pretty good too! read more

C'est excellent! Our large group enjoyed happy hour several times over the Dec/Jan holiday break. On our first visit, 5 of us wandered in looking for a few drinks and appetizers. For our second visit, our group expanded to 10; mostly drinks and appys, our proto-adult kids ordered dinner. (They're no fools, Dad was paying). As we were leaving, that second time, we reserved a table for the next night. Our group expanded to over15 for our third visit. Here's where I have to tell you - the staff were amazing! Friendly, calm, fast, and flexible with our expanding group. The food and drinks were all excellent. The raw oysters could only have been fresher if we'd been on the boat. A must stop every year, though we missed 2024. First time with the new ownership and, as with all previous visits, The Wicked Oyster delivers. Wellfleet Oysters are probably our Worldwide favorites, the Day Boat Scallop dish and the Pan Seared Sole were excellent!!! The only thing I could say was not our taste was the music playlist. We came by on a Sunday night without any reservations and with our pup, and snagged a seat on the patio, which was relaxed and casual while still being nice. Service was good and attentive. We started with the oysters, which were yummy and briny. I absolutely loved the mignonette sauce, which did not skimp on the shallots. For the main course, I got the scallops with carrot-ginger puree, cooked snap peas, and nuts - they were absolutely out of this world! Even my partner, who was initially skeptical, asked for second and third bites of the dish. I'm not a huge ginger fan but I could barely taste the ginger. Very impressed by how the inclusion of nuts pulled the whole dish together: each bite was crunchy and delicious. My partner got the clam stew, which wasn't my favorite - the scallops definitely outshone it. I will say the clam stew probably would've been better on a cold day, as it was very hearty. My best friend and I celebrated our birthdays there last night. We split the beet salad , each ordered seared scallops on a cauliflower creamy pate, then split the cheesecake with poached pears. It was the best meal I have had all summer! Living on the Outer Cape, we have our choice of excellent restaurants. Last night's meal was inventive without being pretentious. The flavors were unique, and simply enhanced each dish. Get a res because the place was packed! read more

New owners - new menu. The Wicked Oyster was sold earlier this year. It looks like the restaurant got a new coat of paint and a new menu. The cocktails are ambitious and tasty. The menu is smaller, but most plates feature local seafood with a creative presentation. The Lobster Gnocchi is delicious. I would have given the meal 5 stars but the service was understaffed. Overall not a bad experience, I came up from DC and must say the food was good for coming in after 9 am with a party of 9. The lazy lobster was good although the gnocchi was a bit doughy and dense. The clam chowder was a bit loose and clams were not large, I was looking for a bit more flavor but the consistency was on point. The crab cake was good and full of crab meat but the shrimp egg rolls were a bit thick. The star if the show was the lemon risotto and shrimp. Really good! I'd come back to see if an earlier meal is better. read more

They ran out of oysters, so we couldn't get any. The steak was 80% fat, there were 4 small scallops in sauce, my wine was full of sediment and the food was completely subpar. Ive been coming to this place for 10 years now. I understand from the host, new owners bought the place about a year ago which happens often in the business. However, after dining about 3x since the new ownership took over I have some observations. 1. Vibe is totally different. It used to be laidback with a certain humm in the dining room on busy nights. Now the entire staff can be seen running at full bore from dining room to dining room like you would see at a TGIF. Seating is much tighter and both servers and busers knocked into my chair several times while darting through the room. 2. Server was younger and very pleasant. She kept apologizing for the poor pace of meal and food delays from the kitchen. 3. I ordered the corn sauce Pasta with crab. There was no crab in the dish at all. There was a slight fish flavor of the creamed corn sauce. Absolutely no detectable taste of crab whatsoever. At $45, you would expect chunks of crab with an intense flavor profile. Not cream corn sauce. Short male Bartender was initially excited when he approached my wife and I With dinner menus. However, when we mentioned we were having a drink while we wait for our table to be called. The look we got was like we were trying to sell him aluminum siding. Short and abrupt, while we watched him fawn over other couples who were dining at the bar. I usually buy a Wicked Oyster sweatshirt as well Almost every time we visit. However, the host said they will not be ordering anymore for the foreseeable future. Here is my feeling: If you buy a very successful restaurant, you obviously pay an insane Amount of money. So that comes with a huge nut at the end of the month. That is the vibe I get the past few times visiting. It's all about stuffing the dining rooms , designing the menu for profit not value ( cheese burger now featured as an entree) , a high focus on table turn over with servers jumping into different dining rooms to jump on the next table. While table touches are remote. Quite inefficient use of server time. End result is, guest experience suffers. If I were the chef of this place, I would replace the cheese burger with an amazing and unique oyster bisque soup or oyster ravioli. Some thing worthy of a place called the Wicked Oyster. A local here, tried the place again. Scallops were fine, but $36 for a few scallops in a lot of sauce with a couple veggies. To the chef--what about some rice or risotto or something else with that? the focac cio. Would be a lot better if not $7. the burger. ok. we would love some fries with our burger. please think about how to get people to keep coming back. We would like to be regulars again. How about a less precious feel to it all? A few more reasonably priced options. And why the small portions? We don't need huge, but at these prices, we want to not leave hungry. read more

For years this has been an amazing restaurant. last night, not so much. The menu was unappealing, Though I did find the sole to be yummy. Our other diners were unfortunately less than thrilled. A pasta sausage meal was under cooked. There's al dente and then there is undercooked pasta. Don't need to be a "top chef" to perceive the difference. And as the meal wrapped up, we ordered decaf coffee and one of the only two desserts offered. They were out of decaf and the strawberry shortcake was inedible. Never had salty strawberries before. Not a flavor I hope to encounter ever again. And who runs out of decaf? Granted they did take the shortcake off the bill, but the attitude received from the wait person when they asked if we liked the dessert was surprising. We didn't and politely asked what we were tasting...BTW poached and salted strawberries are awful. Maybe they had an off night. Giving them a higher rating than the food deserved as the service was attentive and positive up until the dessert. I'll be keeping an eye on other reviews before heading back. read more

I ordered a cheeseburger on a gluten-free bun with french fries and a glass of Pinot Grigio. It was a great burger that was cooked rare just the way I like it and the juiciness of the burger combined with the thick and gooey mozzarella was really good. The restaurant was beautiful and it was wonderful seeing my friends. They had beautiful artwork up on the walls and I enjoyed the service. I would really come here again for the burger. I was really impressed with the mozzarella cheese and how delicious everything was. read more

Middle of March, pretty busy for the off season. Note that they take reservations so, even in high season you can be assured of a table and not wait for hours in a queue. The ambiance is warm and cozy, the service is at the top of their game. We had a little pink champagne and oysters to start. And then the gem salad and the "picnic" of focaccia, pickles and charcuterie. It was delectable. The "house wine" is not some off label blend, it is the wine of the evening chosen by the sommelier. Tonight's red was a Bordeaux, super soft and smooth. The owner stopped by our table to ask how our meal was and we were happy to report everything was sumptuous. read more

Under new management, we had heard that the food was not as it had been, and we were pleasantly surprised with an absolutely delightfully experience with excellent tastes and thoughtful consideration to balance the adult meal with the desires and expectations of the two children with us. We had an early reservation and by 6:45 pm when we left, the bar and restaurant were nicely filled. We started with a lovely soft, salted focaccia with whipped butter. Cooked to perfection! The wait staff gave us detailed information on each dish, patiently explaining the prep of scallops crudo and then selling us on the seared scallops. We also shared the roast chicken with fennel and tomato salad with an incredibly rich butter jus and a little gems (new leaf to me!) salad with hazelnuts and shredded Parmesan (just enough to add a flavor and texture). The children enjoyed dine-in worthy chicken tenders and chips with white bean dip. Dessert was chocolate cake from which the chef removed for child-presentation purposes the delicious topping of pickled cherries and hazelnuts. The cake itself was moist but of no impressive quality. The cherries were delicious. The atmosphere is inviting and busy with each wait staff person ready to help. We will emphatically let others know that under new management means a delightful meal and experience for all. read more

We went one time last summer but ended up going 2x this summer. I feel like it was far better than we remembered it being hence the double visit in one week. It was great. Great service super kid friendly..FOH super kind and servers were great (Daniel:). Also the acoustic treatments on the ceiling are excellent at making it easy to hear the conversation at the table while not blocking out the overall chatter and ambience. Nice spacious dining room. Efficient staff who were really nice too getting out the door quickly as we were hustling to catch the sun set. Oysters both visits of course. Solid dirty martinis. First night got fried clam strips and lobster gnocchi. Wife had seared scallops w corn pudding and heirloom tomatoes (she raved about the tomato). 2nd visit I got Jonah crab salad which was very refreshing and loaded w crab meat. I thought maybe it had a little too much basil but still was fantastic. The cod croquettes were so good too. A generous amount with an amazing honey sauce. It was very heavy and sweet and a nice offset to the crab salad. Also had the homemade focaccia which was great too. Literally the only suuuuper super minor gripe we had is that this is the only place we've ever been to where the garnish sauces for the oysters was a choice between horseradish, cocktail sauce, or mignonette and it's an up charge if you want more than one. I'm sure they make a lot off that minor .50-$1 add on and I get they want to not be wasteful and/or also the purist will say, "good oysters don't really require those let alone 3."Just kind of weird considering how much we were spending there but literally epic spot otherwise. We felt like the restaurants in Wellfleet stepped up their game in general this summer. read more

By far the best food I've ever had on the Cape. Everything is super interesting and not just your standard boring seafood. Incredible scallop ceviche with a sort of Thai coconut sauce, beautiful tomato salad crusted in sesame, the sole was rich and amazing. For mains - 2 x fish n chips (traditional cape fare maybe but wow) and a cheese burger (melt in your mouth). Shared a (poached) strawberry shortcake - delicious. I stopped in for the Saturday lunch and found the atmosphere to be the perfect backdrop for lunch or dinner. The staff worked together as a team being helpful and attentive providing impeccable service. The food was spectacular. The Brussels were cooked to perfection with a crispy exterior. The garlic miso vinaigrette is exquisite and the subtle taste of pine nut make this dish exceptional. The Crab Salad Sandwich was a mix of lightness and complexity. Skate and Lobster gnocchi were both excellent. COD croquettes had a honeyed sauce best described as "off the mark" that was too sweet and drowned out the fish flavor. Steamed mussels' broth was too much heavy cream. Chocolate cake drowned in too many sauces that didn't taste very good. Sometimes simpler is better. Service was excellent. read more
