I do wish the vegan and vegetarian options were better labeled / noted on the menu, though I was very glad to find some excellent options that our server also helped point out. The fries made me feel like I was on vacation & the braised beet poke bowl was new-to-me and I'm so glad I ordered it. So beautifully plated as well, I might add. Came here for lunch and it seemed to be a popular choice! Even with the poor weather this place has an impressive set up on the back of the building with a weather proof enclosed tent, that had heating, fans, the works! The chowder and Brussels sprouts were both a delicious appetizer! Followed by our entrees which we had a difficult time choosing for the amazing selection! I had the Harissa Salmon dish and it was divine and my friend had the Halibut with the Lobster mashed potatoes, both wonderful meals! Our server was friendly and attentive! We go here frequently and really enjoy the cocktails. They have great bartenders. My husband always order the oysters and they are so fresh and briney. He also really enjoys the hamburger. It's one of his top five places for a burger. I usually get the fish and chip which is cooked well and fresh. They have such a nice outdoor space. This is a fun spot! read more

This is one of our local friends favorite places. No reservations so if you show up late, prepare for a wait. They have a new covered area out back which is perfect (in lieu of the prior tent). Service was tremendous, Nicholas was the best. Super attentive, helpful with menu items, and very experienced. Ambiance was fun, casual, and vibrant. The food was amazing. We started out with the cod cheeks and grilled octopus which were divine. We also had the shrimp and scallop dumplings which were the least favorite thing that we ordered - just ok. We had to wait for around an hour for a table of five but we were seated in the pergola area and it was so lovely! There were some bugs but it was ok. What I liked: Attentive and welcoming staff. Atmosphere is beachy nice. What I'm 50/50 on: The clam chowder had a great flavor but it's not the hearty sort of chowder most people expect (thick, more clam bits, potatoes). If you know Capt. Parker's, this is the opposite in texture. I need to sample it again. What I did not like: The fried chicken sandwich with barbeque sauce. It was a disaster, lol. The sauce was too spicy, even for someone like me who likes spicy food, and it just didn't taste all that great. The bun soaked up the sauce and basically turned to mush and the sandwich falls apart in your hands, so I used a knife/fork. What I loved: The waiter asked me how I liked the sandwich, and I said matter-of-factly that it was too spicy. I wasn't complaining -- after all, I ate the damn thing, lol. Before I knew it, the cook came out, apologized, the waiter apologized and said it was her fault for not telling me it was spicy etc. etc. The cook offered to cook something else (I declined) and took the meal off the bill. I didn't ask for anything and they fell over themselves to make it right anyway. That's how you get customers coming back, like my wife and I certainly will. read more

Oh this was a treat! Two California girls on a New England Road trip. We wanted a taste of seafood and we got the best of the best here. We got a table outside. Jole, our server, helped narrow down the choices. She was awesome! We ordered oysters, calamari, bellied fried clams and fish tacos. The calamari was not fried instead it was served in a rich tomato and garlicky sauce. It was delicious. The bellied fried clams were like fried calamari. The French fries were not the best. We ended with the fish tacos, the fish and the garnishes were amazing! I would definitely come back. Oh and all that for under $100. Make sure to arrived before 5pm to get quick service. Went here when they opened, 430. Waited about 20ish minutes with my family of 11! While waiting we got some drinks at the bar which was nice. The outdoor area was fun and comfortable, I really enjoyed the vibe. The music was great. The service was great. This was kind of a surprise because it seemed like literally the entire population of the cape was at this place when we walked up. Or maybe that should have been a warning. The place is nice, it has kind of chill outdoor seating with a low-key vibe and bathrooms that are basically portopotties. The only thing off theme were the prices, sheesh. We're talking $3.50 oysters (dude, you can just pick them up down the street) and $34 small-size lobster rolls (them's city prices). The oysters were very tasty. The lobster roll, being $34 and served basically everywhere in New England, has to be held to a high standard. A standard it does not meet - the meat was overcooked and chewy. The butter, rather than being drizzled atop the roll was in a giant blob at the bottom. The result was a mushy mess wrapped around rubbery meat. I make it sound worse than it was - it was not BAD, but again, if you're gonna make the same thing everyone else makes in the area, you gotta do better. I wouldn't come back here there's a ton of places in Wellfleet. Not bad, but not good either. read more

My family and I have eaten at Mac's Shack in Wellfleet every summer for quite a few years and generally they have been decent every time, about a 4/5 at best. This visit on 10/12/25 went against that experience, unfortunately. Someone in my party has a severe dairy and tree nut allergy and they were extremely curt about having to deal with those allergies, clearly showing a lack of empathy and overall care despite being..in the...service industry????They also didn't supply condiments and when we went back to ask for them they deflected, not taking accountability for a simple mistake. On top of this, we found a hair in one of the sushi combo meals and there were clearly some bits of something that didn't belong in the California Rolls that were ordered, of all things. I assume it was crab shell, but I can't be sure. How does one mess up a California roll, it's literally 7 ingredients. Anyway, I'm sad to say this place seems to not be up to the caliber of the previous visits we've had and we will not be going back any time soon. Overpriced mediocre food. What a cute little place to eat in Wellfleet right near the water. Most of the restaurants was in a heated tent with string lights in the center. This place has all of the general New England seafood. We started with local oysters which were delicious and honestly some of the best I've had. Then I had the fish and chips which were perfect for dinner. The fish was perfectly cooked and only lightly breaded. I'll for sure come back the next time I'm in wellfleet! read more

When I say I cannot express how amazing our experience was, I really mean it. Firstly, Mac's is a celiac safe establishment. Not just celiac "friendly", but seriously built around safety for people with gluten issues. The owner (Mac) has celiacs and so all the staff are knowledgeable and the menu is about 90% gf. Our waitress, Jolee, was a gem! She was so excited with how excited we were She took time explaining the menu, answering questions, and made sure to check on us often. Not what I expected, the service was just ok the server only came by once. The shared 2 bathrooms is problematic when there is a line. The food looked better taste. The biggest issue was food temp. I had the clam chowder but it had no roux which made it more of a soup than chowder. The eel dynamite roll was good but the spicy tuna was just ok. The lazy lobster was not warm at all the corn risotto had elements of sweetness from the corn but the rice was slightly underdone so it was not as creamy as I would have liked. Their sushi is really great, but there are plenty of other things on the menu too. Despite being a local "chain" this oyster shells underfoot bayside shack in Cape Cod's historic and foggy town of Wellfleet felt unique & was enjoyable. We waited about 20 minutes for a seat, but waited in the bar, so it went quickly. From fresh local oysters, tasty grilled hamachi collar with unagi sauce, to a flavored wasabi & sesame oil flavored ahi noodle dish to a picnic-tables-under-a-tarp setting, this location & seafood (seasonally local, but also flown in from outside the area, so ask) is excellent and not to be missed. Because my friends and I came as a group of eight without a reservation during the summer (but we came really early for dinner at 5pm), we were told to wait at least 45 minutes for a table. Mac's, a local seafood chain's Wellfleet location, has all the typical New England seafood items you expect (and the oysters, of course) but also sushi made with local fish and lots of other specialties. Effectively, the raw stuff is what they specialize in. We got a dozen local oysters, which were clean tasting and delicious, excellent specimens but very salty compared to our warm water oysters and not as funky. I liked them, but I'm not sure as much as I do others from, say, the Pacific Northwest or even our Gulf ones, which are bigger and juicer -- they are the best raw. Rachel got an oyster Bao; the oysters fry up smaller, saltier, and not as juicy as the warm water ones -- I prefer the clams up here. We tried the scallop spicy hand rolls, which were delicious, but it was made of chopped-up local bay scallops and thus were a bit runny, I think they would have been better presented as gunkan-maki (oval), but that's nitpicky. I also got a "big kahuna" sushi presentation which had local tuna prepared 3 ways (poke, roll, filled with spicy tuna, chopped onion and granny smith apple), Rachel also got a Bahamian-style fish stew that was very peppery. This was outstanding. First visit, we got a dozen oysters, a cup of clam chowder, the Big Mac, the Stop Light, and the Lazy Lobster. The oysters are what they're known for, and they were great, but it was everything else that I really loved the most, especially the Big Mac (a tune poke salad on top of an incredible spicy tuna roll) and the Lazy Lobster, which was one of the best lobster dishes I've ever eaten -- so fresh, so much lobster, and so much goodness underneath. We loved it so much that we ended up going back for a second trip on the last night of our vacation, and did a few repeats (chowder, oysters, Lazy Lobster, Big Mac), but also tried the Hand Grenades and the Big Kahuna, which were excellent as well. All in all, our favorite restaurant in our first trip to Cape Cod. read more

Great spot!! We were told a table for 2 would be 20-25min but was only 10min- yay. We sat inside as it was a little chilly and we loved our server, Jodi- she was so nice and checked on us a lot.
