a sign for lobster chowder house
    Gerrie S.

We had just left Nauset Beach and was hungry for lunch. Sure enough tge Lobster & Chowder house popped up right as we were leaving the area. We placed our order at the bar and sat down at one of the picnic tables inside. We ordered a clam chowder and lobster tacos. They came in a timely manner , the soup was pretty good needs more clams and potatoes and could be a little thicker. The lobster tacos were quite large looking (2 of them) and appeared to be overflowing with lobster but underneath was their coleslaw that was dripping all over. I would prefer it on the side. I would go back but maybe get something else.

Cheapest lobster roll we could find in the area - a BLT lobster roll. IT WAS THE BEST SANDWICH IVE EVER HAD. After a day on the cape it's the perfect, chill spot to come with your family or alone to get some good eats and vibes. Everybody there was nice too. 10/10

***This review is for my experience with the hot lobster roll (warm + butter, NOT the cold lobster salad roll)*** The Lobster and Chowder House is a roadside seafood shack with a enclosed bar/patio area if you want to sit down and enjoy your food and drink vs. a "grab-n-go" experience. It's not fancy and it's not intended to be that sort of an experience, it's a no-frills place to get some really fresh food along the main drive to Provincetown. The chowder was a little thicker than I usually like, but the clams and ingredients were fresh and treated with respect that come together in an above average package. The hot lobster roll was everything that my wife hoped it would be: a buttered and griddled brown, split-top bun, with just slightly warmed lobster meat (primarily claw and knuckle meat, large chunks of vs. the shredded sorts you can find) and a side of clarified butter. No frills again, just really high quality ingredients that are treated with respect, served with the finesse of someone who has done this a few thousand times before. Was it the best meal, seafood, or lobster roll I ever had? No. Were we disappointed with what we got for the price point? No. Did it 100% satisfy us and give us what we were looking for? Yes. I would definitely go back on a drive to PTown again or as I was passing through, but I already had my expectations set before I stepped up to the ordering window. It's great for what it is, but doesn't pretend to be what it's not - and I appreciate and applaud them for that.

Perfect stop for a lobster roll and chowder! Service was great, fun roadside atmosphere, clean and upbeat! The food was delicious! Absolutely recommend!

My family visits Cape Cod every year and this was our first time trying the Lobster & Chowder house. The clam chowder had great flavor, although it could have used some more clams. We all ordered different variations of lobster rolls which were all delicious! The service was great as well. We will certainly come again.

Rainy Spring day on Cape Cod went for a ride down to p-town saw the sign driving by, we both wanted lobster and chowder stopped in. Friendly bartender tasty but expensive drinks for sitting in a very casual Gravel floor "patio" . my honey ordered large bowl "served in decent size paper cup" of clam chowder, consisted of a few quarter inch cubes of potato the hint of lobster and some evaporated milk maybe.. Then the scary part, before she served, the. Styrofoam to go container of fish and chips, I was sitting at the bar, the smell up very old fish became nauseating obvious. I said wow how old is that fish? As smell continue to increase, I refused it, before she even opened the styrofoam container. the bartender then took it to another guest in the restaurant and requested their opinion apparently in a effort to embarrass me.. or a second opinion ???? Two stars one for being an old-fashioned Cape Cod roadside clam shack and one star for a untrained server was trying to do her best.

Feast your eyes on my $30 lobster salad roll. Doesn't look much at all like the glamorous pictures posted by the biz owner, eh? Creamy, luscious, overflowing? Yea no. They literally fried the roll, stuck a piece of romaine in there rib-side down and lined the top with claw meat. It looks like it's chock full o' meat, but the whole roll is taken up by the lettuce and the lobster itself--all 3 oz or so of it--is basically laid on like mayo on a sandwhich. Two of these lobster rolls, a calamari app, and a bottle of water and Lipton ice tea came to almost $80. I get that restaurants were having a hard time this year, but screwing me in the wallet is not the answer, unless the answer desired was this review. Two stars because the waitstaff was a-okay, the seating was clean, and we didn't get food poisoning (hard to get it I suppose if you don't have a critical mass of food). I see the owner seems to be replying to negative reviews with "gosh food is expensive." Yea...but over the last couple months, my main lobster connection was a place on the North Shore where I got 8 1.25# lobsters for slightly less than the cost of my lunch here today. Things got expensive, but this is just outright ridiculous.

Apparently, the owner wanted to re-focus on that part of the business. *shrug* I used to come here around opening and see a lengthy line. The croissants are some of the best in the area. The plain croissant is flaky and light. The ham & cheese croissant is more of a croque monsieur and it's a pretty substantial offering, full of cheese, ham, and béchamel sauce. The individual tarts (lemon, raspberry, etc.) and cakes are beautifully designed and are appropriately sweet. The tart crusts were legit. I'll miss coming here for pastries/desserts. The place is set up like a casual restaurant where you order at the counter and they bring the food to you. When we walked in they had their radio set on a Christian station praising all kind of Christian ideology for all to hear. When we walked in, the lady behind the counter just looked at us with no welcoming smile nor attitude. I said Good morning and I got a slight smile from her. I then asked if they had any diabetes friendly items on the menu....She said...I don't know what that means ????!???!?! How can you work in a restaurant and not know what diabetes is ??? I then said, items with low sugar content. She still said, I don't know. So I decided to order a salad. Their Basco Salad was described as a bed of fresh greens and a nice Lomo on top. The salad came up fairly quickly and it was delicious. The boneless pork loin was well seasoned and warm. The greens were fresh and well balanced. I liked the food, but the stern long face of the lady as well as her inability (or un-willingness) to help made me drop one star out of my experience.

After graduating from high school, he realized the difficulties of finding success on the Cape so he decided to enroll at Hartwick College in upstate New York. Gallant soon became homesick and decided to move right back to the Cape after graduating. He had worked in the restaurant business since he was 14: starting out as a dishwater and eventually moving into management positions. He soon realized that the only way that he would be successful in this industry was if he was his own boss. He found a restaurant space in North Eastham that was previously home to Rick's Outer Bar and completely remodeled it. All of the dishes on Local Break's menu are crafted with fresh, local ingredients. The bar also has an impressive list of local craft beers on tap. Unlike many Cape Cod restaurants that close down during the colder months, Local Break is open year-round. My extended family and I visited Local Break this past August during our week-long trip to the Cape. The restaurant was right down the street from our Airbnb and we had heard good things. We enjoyed the nautical decor and the staff were friendly and helpful. For cocktails, my wife had the "Strawberry Peach Lemonade" (Deep Eddy peach vodka, strawberry purée, lemonade, fresh lemon) and I had the "Woodford Reserve Maple Old Fashion" (muddled cherry, orange, maple simple syrup, Angostura bitters, Woodford Reserve Bourbon, splash of water, ice). Both were very flavorful! Among our whole party, the entrees we ordered were the "Pulled BBQ Chicken Sandwich" (pulled baked BBQ chicken served on a Kaiser roll, topped with fried onion rings and coleslaw), the "Romesco Fish Sandwich" (fried cod with house made Romesco sauce, lettuce, pickles), the "Hot Chicken Sandwich" (crispy fried chicken thigh, sweet pickles, house made coleslaw, brown sugar-hot sauce, Kaiser bun), the "Po' Boy" (beer battered fried shrimp, baby greens, tomato, chili garlic mayo, baguettini) and the "Kid's Tenders". Everyone really liked their food! I really liked my Po' Boy which went great with some sweet potato fries and Cajun maple dipping sauce!
