This Lobster Pot annex is a wonderful spot where you can find most of the items from PTown. Lobster ravioli is always excellent, the lobster bisque, and the hot lobster roll. They use a proper New England roll, nice and toasted which holds up to the heft of the lobster meat. No annoying lettuce leaf either to distract or take up space. It's not a hot dog bun. That just should not happen! Quick service, order at the window and sit in the back or take away. Nice bar with music too. It's a stop every time I'm here. I'm so glad you're here. BE SURE to be perfectly clear - and don't try to be polite and wait to complain about bad or over cooked food. The management of this roadside clam shack with fine dining prices is definitely not customer oriented. I placed an order for a $40 plate - I take that back - plastic basket of Fried Clams and french fries with the special request that they be "lightly cooked" as I cannot tolerate crispy and overcooked food. When the food was dropped at the table without ANY query as to if the food seemed ok, or with any circle back to check (I somewhat get it - it got busy after we ordered) but the food was cooked exactly how I can't eat it. I tried. I ate what was reasonably edible - about 1/2 - then just had to stop - it was too unpleasant. My companion ate her entire meal. Hers was "good". At the end of my visit - I went to the bar to speak with Lala (our server) and mentioned to her that I was wanting to cash out - but that I was not able to eat about 1/2 of my meal because it was poorly cooked. I saw her glance over my shoulder - then look at me and said "the kitchen was busy". I guess a busy kitchen is license for them to deliver poorly prepared food. I would have liked at least some admission of error or possibly - a discount for the portion which was inedible. NOTHING. My part: I should have refused the food immediately (I am a professional chef and therefore I hate complaining or asking for a recook) - but I guess basic standards of hospitality don't exist in a picnic table, plastic plate serving overgrown clam shack. My suggestion is if anyone reads this and still chooses to go to this place - advocate for your own comfort immediately - don't wait - and don't settle. Your tolerance of poor food preparation and shoddy service won't get you anywhere. Ideally - just go up Rte 6 a short distance more for better fried food - or even next door for better food and service. read more

We were on a bike ride along the bike trail and decided to stop here for some lunch before our bike ride back to Main street in Orleans. We ordered at the walk up window in the front and initially planned to sit at one of the outdoor picnic benches. However, we then realized there were also indoor picnic benches inside so we headed in there to sit. The bartender was nice enough to come over and offer us some water and we informed her we had already ordered sodas in the front but didn't have them. She then proceeded to go and get our drinks. The menu offers plenty of seafood items, as well as some other items including Jamaican food. I ordered the lobster Reuben. It came on a ciabetta roll with coleslaw and swiss cheese. This was a five-star experience, not necessarily five star cuisine, but a great option for a casual meal. We were biking along the rail trail between Wellfleet and Orleans, and stopped by the Lobster and Chowder House since it was a convenient spot right off the trail. I had the whole belly fried clams plate along with an iced tea, and it was a perfect meal to hit the spot and provide a rest from a long bike ride. I have to admit, I was confused by the process so perhaps I can help others - when I arrived, I thought that this was just a quick serve/takeout spot, so I ordered at the front window, expecting to sit at the picnic tables alongside the parking lot. After I ordered, the gentleman taking the order said, "you can go around back." Around back, there were very comfortable seats, and ab engaging and enthusiastic woman (I failed to get her name, but she was great) working in their bar / covered patio area. She was kind to bring us our drinks and checked up on us after the meals were delivered to the table. The patio area had wonderful music, providing a great environment to enjoy lunch. Our bill all in averaged just under $50 per person, but you can certainly get a meal for a lot less than that. Whether you're stopping by for takeout, a casual picnic table meal outside, or an indoor experience with comfortable seating and friendly service, this is a great option. Davey & co KILLIN` it out here... we stopped in on a Saturday afternoon for clam chowder, lobster roll and "Portuguese fish." All really good stuff, but that third one was the consummate meal. Faro-orzo blend is good stuff, and a really nice piece of fish stuffed with some mix of scallop and herbs and something called linguica. (Portuguese sausage?) I love places like this! Not only was our food and drink's phenomenal, but the service and friendliness we experienced was super refreshing on our first trip to this area. We had just left Nauset Beach and was hungry for lunch. Sure enough tge Lobster & Chowder house popped up right as we were leaving the area. We placed our order at the bar and sat down at one of the picnic tables inside. We ordered a clam chowder and lobster tacos. They came in a timely manner , the soup was pretty good needs more clams and potatoes and could be a little thicker. The lobster tacos were quite large looking (2 of them) and appeared to be overflowing with lobster but underneath was their coleslaw that was dripping all over. I would prefer it on the side. This place went downhill fast. Last time we went I ordered the baked stuff shrimp which was supposed to be stuffed with scallops. The entree was stuffed with bread crumbs and breaded scalloped-shape shrimp that appeared like scallops. Not a scallop or bit of scallop in the dish. When I complained the waitress merely looked at me. No "sorry," no "we'll refund your money," no explanation. Then there was my husband's salmon: a tiny strip of salmon, nicely cooked but tiny! maybe 2 x 3.5". I doubt it was even 3 oz. We liked the place at first when it first opened--great chowder and lobster rolls. But we never liked the ordering-at-the-bar and then sit down to be served. I regret how many times I drove past this on my way to Wellfleet center without stopping and checking them out. Now it's a regular stop for my family. We haven't had anything we didn't like. A lot of the menu focuses on lobster and chowder (as you might guess) but there are plenty of other options -- even a perfectly respectable cheeseburger and a variety of chicken sandwiches and salads, for people who just can't face another plate of seafood. My family particularly favor the lobstercado and L.C.H., which are innovative and delicious variations on the traditional lobster roll (which is also available), the poke, and clam chowder, but we've never been disappointed by anything here. This is one of those restaurants where you spend a long time looking at the menu, because you know all the choices are good. Indoor and outdoor picnic table seating. Portuguese fish bake was huge and perfectly cooked with delicious sides of Julianne fresh veg and rice pilaf $27, the biggest bang for the buck. Salmon sandwich was fresh and cooked properly, $20. Cold lobster roll was sweet and tender with claws and knuckle meat, not overstuffed but ample at $29. ***This review is for my experience with the hot lobster roll (warm + butter, NOT the cold lobster salad roll)*** The Lobster and Chowder House is a roadside seafood shack with a enclosed bar/patio area if you want to sit down and enjoy your food and drink vs. a "grab-n-go" experience. It's not fancy and it's not intended to be that sort of an experience, it's a no-frills place to get some really fresh food along the main drive to Provincetown. The chowder was a little thicker than I usually like, but the clams and ingredients were fresh and treated with respect that come together in an above average package. The hot lobster roll was everything that my wife hoped it would be: a buttered and griddled brown, split-top bun, with just slightly warmed lobster meat (primarily claw and knuckle meat, large chunks of vs. the shredded sorts you can find) and a side of clarified butter. No frills again, just really high quality ingredients that are treated with respect, served with the finesse of someone who has done this a few thousand times before. Was it the best meal, seafood, or lobster roll I ever had? No. Were we disappointed with what we got for the price point? No. Did it 100% satisfy us and give us what we were looking for? Yes. I would definitely go back on a drive to PTown again or as I was passing through, but I already had my expectations set before I stepped up to the ordering window. me and my wife stopped by here for a quick lunch after hiking at the Cedar Swamp Trail... I love chowder. I love to order it when I'm on vacation both me and my wife ordered the " award-winning" clam chowder in an order of the fried pickles. While the price was right, unfortunately the flavor was not sadly what they called award-winning clam chowder seemed to be straight out of a Progresso can, flavorless and lacking any depth of flavor. Then the scary part, before she served, the. Styrofoam to go container of fish and chips, I was sitting at the bar, the smell up very old fish became nauseating obvious. I said wow how old is that fish? As smell continue to increase, I refused it, before she even opened the styrofoam container. the bartender then took it to another guest in the restaurant and requested their opinion apparently in a effort to embarrass me.. or a second opinion ???? Feast your eyes on my $30 lobster salad roll. Doesn't look much at all like the glamorous pictures posted by the biz owner, eh? Creamy, luscious, overflowing? Yea no. They literally fried the roll, stuck a piece of romaine in there rib-side down and lined the top with claw meat. It looks like it's chock full o' meat, but the whole roll is taken up by the lettuce and the lobster itself--all 3 oz or so of it--is basically laid on like mayo on a sandwhich. Two of these lobster rolls, a calamari app, and a bottle of water and Lipton ice tea came to almost $80. I get that restaurants were having a hard time this year, but screwing me in the wallet is not the answer, unless the answer desired was this review. Two stars because the waitstaff was a-okay, the seating was clean, and we didn't get food poisoning (hard to get it I suppose if you don't have a critical mass of food). I see the owner seems to be replying to negative reviews with "gosh food is expensive." Yea...but over the last couple months, my main lobster connection was a place on the North Shore where I got 8 1.25# lobsters for slightly less than the cost of my lunch here today. We have had the traditional cold ones with mayonnaise (just enough to give it a touch of richness with a great balance) and the one with the avocado and special sauce. The calamari was excellent. The clam chowder and codfish reuben were pretty good, but the reuben was underseasoned. I was thankful we got little salt packets with our order, because it made a world of difference. Overall, very good but just shy of 5 stars. We ate here a couple times on this visit down the Cape. It's super-close to the place we rent, and my mother loves it here. First visit, I took my mom here for a birthday lunch - we ate in the screened in porch. I love the chowder here - so delicious. I think it's the best chowder on the Cape, and we enjoyed the lobster egg rolls. Came here in mid October on a Saturday as choices of open restaurants are dwindling as fall is progressing. They are primarily takeout but there is a rear patio and bar for dine in. I did takeout. Apparently this is owned by the Lobster Pot in Provincetown. I had a large lobster bisque and a fishwich. The bisque ($9) was tasty and had small diced lobsters but no large pieces.
