Very typical bubble tea joint. The atmosphere here is quiet unless they're using the blender to make drinks. Their snack foods are pretty good. I especially liked the popcorn chicken made spicy - it was flavorful enough that I didn't need extra side sauces for dipping. The Cajun fries were perfectly crunchy. The pork rice bowl was a lil sweeter than I wanted but delicious. Drinks were good - it was exactly what I wanted and expected. I recommend the honey jasmine green tea with sea salt cream. Hot toast served with cold ice cream and delicious toppings. I tried Mo Cha on a hot summers day and the ice cream started melting almost immediately after we set the plate of toast on the table. I LOVE the mochi bits: they are incredibly chewy and complement the warm, crunchy toast and cold, cold ice cream very well. I'm an avid boba adventurer, lover, and explorer. I'm also from the Bay Area where there's a boba spot around every corner. When I first discovered Mo Cha, I knew I was going to be coming back frequently. And if I honestly didn't live 30 minutes away, I'd come everyday. First of all, their boba is bomb! It's always super sweet, not too hard and not too soft. My all-time-favorite-go-to boba drink is definitely the Peach Mango Green Tea with regular boba and rainbow jelly. I don't know why, but this combination just always seem to hit the spot! I've tried other things on their menu, but nothing seems to beat this one. If you prefer fruity drinks over milk tea, this is a good one to try. If you want a snack to pair up your drink with, I've always liked their Popcorn Chicken. The portions are rather large so it's definitely enough for to share (or more for yourself!), and they give you the option of making it mild, medium, or spicy. I've tried spicy and OOOH! it definitely has a kick! Unless you're up for it, medium might be your best bet. It still has a little hint of spice, but not too much. If you love spicy, go for the spicy! I enjoy the atmosphere. It's a cute place that's usually packed on the weekends, but now that the weather is starting to get colder, people seem to be jamming in the place a lot less. There are plenty of tables and chairs for groups, and some high table/chairs on the side for smaller parties Aside from the fantastic boba and food, another thing that keeps me coming back is the fact that they have a loyalty card program. Waited literally 30 minutes for their large coconut pudding that actually comes in the shell itself. Instead we get approached by one of the cashiers after half an hour of our time, and she lets us know they only have the small kind. It is then taken out of the fridge and incredibly unimpressive. It took a literal minute for them to take it out of the fridge and serve it to us. It was not even all that busy, why should we come back here after an entire half hour of our time was wasted? Mo Cha has solid bubble tea and there's never been much of a line when I've been here, which is a huge plus. The tapioca is always perfectly cooked too. My only qualm is that the normal level of sweetness is way to sweet, especially since the drinks are so big. I definitely recommend going down to 25% or 50% sweetness. I like getting matcha milk tea unsweetened, or a honeydew milk tea at 25%. I haven't had a chance to try the food but the toast thing looks amazing. The Wifi here is pretty consistent - decent for browsing while sipping on your boba. read more

Update 7/1/17- I've been here many more times (10+, I just don't bother checking in). They are very consistent with the flavor of their tea (I usually get their original milk tea or jasmine milk tea). And the boba always has a good chewy textures. The stamp card is a good way to save 10%, making their drinks a good value (especially now compared to Bubble Bubble, which increased their prices on June 1). Lastly, I am changing my review from 2 to 4 stars mainly because of the chicken wings. Sooo goood. Crispy with a good, subtle spice flavor. Best Chinese/Taiwanese style chicken wings I've had. If they would open at 11am instead of 12pm and actually have boba ready when they open, I'd give them 5 stars. Original review: Very poorly managed. Twice now I've come at 1200-1210 (they "open" at 12) and have been told it'd be 1230 until the boba is ready. Why not just come earlier and prepare before opening? Anyways... the milk tea is actually pretty good for Portland. I like it that they have milk, sweetness and ice options. The original milk tea has a clean and smooth taste and isn't too sweet (I wish I could get 75% sweetness level but they only have 0/50/100%). The honey toast is decent but is way overpriced. I wanted to love this place but after finally get a full punch card I was shocked that I was not allowed to use it towards the normal drink I bought every time to fill it. I was limited to drinks under $4.00 which was literally 3 drinks on the menu and I was also not allowed to pay the difference to get what I normally get or even add boba to it. At that point why would you even offer your customers a punch card at all? How disrespectful to your loyal customers!! This is probably one of my favorite traditional bubble tea place in Portland. You get the option of customizing the amount of sweetness and staff will always notify you that their hot drinks will typically be sweeter. However, like every place in pdx, the price for bubble tea is overpriced. I've never tried the typical fruit flavors but the rose and jasmine tea taste legit - none of that powdery stuff most places like to use. You can also get a punch card to accumulate for a free drink. On the other hand, it's cheap to get a meal here. They serve huge portions for their chicken and rice - it can easily be shared amongst 2 people. Taste wise, it's savory and juicy; however, probably not something I will get again just because I rather spend my money on something else. read more

Well yesterday I went in asked for a smooth tea because it was finally hot enough to enjoy one. I asked strawberry and he didn't ask if I preferred real ones or syrup. So while he did my transaction I had to interrupt and let him know. He said it was $1.50 extra... so $6.25 for a smooth tea... which is outrageous but I really desired it. I love boba tea so was excited to come in today with some friends and give this place a go! I ordered a hazelnut Thai milk tea with boba and waited for my order. A hazelnut Thai milk tea was called about five minutes after I paid and no one else appeared to be waiting so I grabbed it thinking it was mine. I took a drink and first noticed that it tasted like hazelnut coffeemate and not tea at all but figured I'd deal with it. Then I noticed there was no boba. My friend was finishing up placing his order and I politely told the cashier I had ordered my drink with boba. She told me boba cost extra and I said I had paid for it. The drink was $4.50 and the boba was an additional $0.50 and I had handed her $5 cash. She told me she must have handed me $.50 back and I said no, she did not. She then took my drink and asked someone to put boba into it. This happened right away and I was handed back my complete drink. The cashier went back to helping customers so I sat down with my friends at a table near the counter. As I was sitting there I noticed some other guests having issues with what they ordered, such as items not being heated up as requested. About ten minutes after I sat down I heard another hazelnut Thai tea with boba be called and heard a child go up to the counter to grab it and say she didn't want boba. Now I see I grabbed the wrong one on accident. I was about to turn around and apologize for the mistake and before I could the cashier told the girl "A lady stole your drink so I guess we will make the right one for you." Okay, I didn't steal it, I accidentally took the wrong one. There's no order numbers or names associated with orders so it's an easy mistake to make. During the rest of my time there, I heard the cashier talk to her coworkers about me on three different occasions. Saying I "walked out before resolving the issue", "can you believe that lady that was here that didn't get the right drink?", among other things that weren't nice or professional. I was pretty angry sitting there and the rest of the restaurant could hear this employee and were exchanging glances at this point. On top of that, all the other tables had small children that could hear the hostility coming from this employee's mouth. After all of this, I tried to forget about it and enjoy my time. Not long after hearing hostile words about me being spewed around the kitchen, another employee called out two smoothies that no one claimed (we think they duplicated my friend's order) and after a few minutes of no one claiming it he grabbed the drinks and harshly exclaimed "well I guess no one wants these then!" and threw the drinks with anger and force into the trashcan. I will not be returning to an establishment with such hostile employees that demonstrated numerous counts of disorganization, unprofessionalism and horrendous customer service. On top of everything I previously listed, my friends waited 25 minutes for their smoothie and toast. With one family and one couple ahead of us and at least four employees working, it shouldn't have taken this long to produce people's orders. read more

Unfortunately, the last few times I've been in they've been out of a drink flavor or topping such at the lychee jellies.
