I was craving for some comfort Hong Kong style brunch food. I was told about this new place in Beaverton, so I had to check it out. Upon arrival at opening around 10:30 am, I was quickly seated in a very sterile clean dining area. I ordered a few items to try out. The shui Mai, the won't ton in chili oil, some chinese donuts to go with my congee. Everything was delicious, but the shui mai was a bit bland. I was surprise by some other reviews about the congee being bland. I was actually pleasantly surprised on how much pork and eggs was in it and it was the perfect in taste and texture was silky smooth. The won ton in chili oil was good, but wouldn't travel to eat again. Next time I'm in the area, I would try some of the other options if it becomes available. I was so excited that a Cantonese cuisine was opening on this side of town! I came in on a Sunday immediately after they opened and it wasn't busy at all. I was sad to find that a lot of their menu items were out so we were only limited to a few dishes to choose from. I really enjoyed the century egg and pork congee. It had good consistency and a nostalgic flavor. I also tried the beef brisket and wonton noodle soup. I loved the texture of the noodles and the wontons weren't bad. But the beef brisket was a little dry and came with very few pieces of meat for the price. The broth for both were unfortunately underwhelming. I also tried their shu mai, which I appreciate them making it fresh but it can take some time to come out. I think the piece I had was undercooked. The owner came out to tell us the color is like that because the meat is marinated. The piece she had seemed better cooked than the one I had. She offered to make another batch for us but at that point we were done. She graciously let us try their bbq pork which was good in flavor and fatty. Sadly, I was pretty disappointed. Even though their menu had a lot of different flavors to choose from, it was all the same things. The flavors were all on the bland side and it was expensive for what you get. new Chinese restaurant in town and it's right up in my neighborhood! very exciting! i dropped in one evening last week and ordered some spicy chili wontons, some wonton soup, and a cucumber salad to-go. for both wonton dishes, i opted for the lamb & leek. overall, the flavor of the wontons was pretty good. i enjoyed the use of the leek and its pairing with the lamb. i found the flavor of the lamb itself to be a little game-y, and i say that as someone who is accustomed to eating lamb. the spicy chili sauce was really tasty, and the broth of the soup was just OK. i think the broth flavor could use a touch more salt to bring out the flavors and maybe something else layered in for more complexity. i can't say how the cucumber salad was at that time, as i did not receive it in my bag. i've been sick for a week, so i stopped in again today at lunch to order some soup. i'm not a huge fan of pork, but i wanted something different this time, so i ordered the wonton soup with the pork, shrimp, and scallop wontons. i also ordered a hand beaten coffee and tried ordering the cucumber salad again. when i went to pick up my order, it was clear the restaurant was packed and the staff were completely overwhelmed. i left and came back almost 20 minutes later, but my order still wasn't ready when i returned, and they were still looking overwhelmed. they almost forgot my cucumber salad again, which prompted me to tell the lady (who was running the front of house all by herself) that last time i didn't receive my cucumber salad at all. she apologized for the mistake, but she didn't offer to waive the charge for today. once i finally got my food home, i liked the flavor of the pork, shrimp, and scallop wontons a bit more than the lamb, but i still felt like the broth flavor was a little flat. it just needs a little more development and fine tuning. the salad was refreshing and had a nice little spice to it. it was everything a Chinese cucumber salad should be. the hand beaten coffee was tasty and definitely a unique item i don't think i've seen anywhere else. i think Feng Sheng has a lot of potential, they just need to fine tune their flavors more and they need more staff to keep up with the flow on the busy days. i also hope to see them add more flavor combinations for their wontons. a lot of people don't eat pork or seafood for various reasons, and while it's cool that they offer lamb, it would be nice to see some chicken wontons as well! read more

Environment: It was a small area but they used the space well. It didn't feel crowded. Great lighting and I loved the colors of the chairs! Staff: very friendly! Since they opened not too long ago, they wanted feedback and were very receptive and kind. They told us that they've been perfecting these dishes for numerous years before deciding to open up a restaurant. They're still perfecting it but I think it's good! They said that they buy high quality ingredients so the dishes can be as authentic as possible. Instead of taking short cuts, they simmer, make, and rather spend a bit more time in preparing the food for their customers. So heads up: most of the food is made to order in order to keep the quality and freshness of their dishes. Please be patient and you'll enjoy some amazing foods! 1. Hand beaten coffee: the coffee was rich and beating it by hand made it very smooth and creamy! It was delicious and I loved the flavor. They made it very nice and frothy and you want to encore it! 2. Milk tea: this is by far the best milk tea ever! It tastes closest to Hong Kong milk tea in Hong Kong! Fragrant, strong, rich, creamy, the tea flavor was amazing! It had a Cantonese saying "golden flavor!" Other places who say they make HK milk tea, sorry, this place wins :) 3. Roselle & Hawthorn and smoked plum tea: I didn't expect to like it as hawthorn and plum tea were new to me. However, it worked really well! It was a tad sour but it was super refreshing! Drinking this with the savory dishes paired really well! 4. BBQ Pork (Char siu): this was FIRE! I've had BBQ pork at many Asian places but this was incredibly tender! They use pork neck meat. It was fragrant, tender, and it had a nice bite and texture, too. The sauce was amazing and it created that nice 'stickiness' like good BBQ pork should! Usually pork neck meat costs more but they're willing to use this type of cut so everyone can enjoy some amazing BBQ pork. 5. Fish filet congee. The texture of the congee was lovely. It wasn't too watery nor too thick. The fish was not the typical white fish you have in Asian restaurants. It had a nice snap and it was fun to eat. It was delicious and had some dried shredded scallops in there too which added more flavors. 6. Pan fried shrimp and pork dumpling (siu gao 生煎水餃): They make the dumplings after you order. I've never had pan fried siu gao before. You rarely get to order this type of dumpling, anywhere! It was crispy on the outside and bouncy on the inside. There was wood ear inside which had a lovely texture, a little snap which was great. It wasn't mushy like some other places. It also came with cucumber salad which had a kick but the sauce was delicious if you can handle the heat! 7. Tangerine peel beef meatballs (陳皮牛肉球): This is made to order and it needs to be steamed so please be patient. Tangerine peel is a delicacy, the 'older' it is the better it gets (and more expensive). The owner used 7yr old tangerine peels so it is more fragrant and distinct. The meatball was tender, too, very different than frozen Chinese meatballs at other dim sum places. 8. Siu mai: these are also made to order and made from scratch! They have five in each order and the texture of it was really nice. It had a nice pieces of shrimp mixed with the meat. 9. Chili hand shredded chicken: this dish is usually over $20 at other places and very little portion. This place felt like you had an entire chicken (haha). There was a lot and though it was spicy for me, the flavor was good. It's not just heat and salt but it had other flavors in it, too! The purple onion added a nice crunchy texture and the sweetness of the purple onion complimented the chicken and the spiciness, too. 10. Wonton noodle soup: another great dish with great portions. They simmer the soup for 4 hours or so and it was very flavorful, even without msg. The wonton was a good size, almost like the ones you can eat in Hong Kong- authentic! The noodles were good, too, and most importantly, the soup base! The soup base had chicken, pork bones, dried scallops, etc. 11. Braised beef brisket and tendon noodle soup: same type of noodles but instead of wonton, you get braised beef brisket and tendons. SUPER TENDER! They had generous amount of meat and it had a good balance of the brisket and the tendons. Each piece was tender and good chunks, too. I'm glad I went with my parents so we could try all these foods! We of course couldn't finish it all so we can enjoy it again as leftovers! It was all delicious and I appreciated how authentic the dishes were and the quality! Sure, this place may cost a bit more but you can really taste the difference because of the authentic and high quality ingredients. I think it's worth it! I hope they keep it up with the consistency! The food was good, but the selections for the menu were limited. We were told they were redoing the menu so there were items listed that were no longer available. Condiments weren't readily available (salt, pepper, sauces), so you have to ask for them. The restaurant was very basic which was OK. People show up for the food, not the decor. I thought the service here is serviceable . This restaurant is unique such that it's the only place in Beaverton that serves Wonton noodle soup. This is a fairly new restaurant so they're still going about taking out food at a slower pace as theirs only 2 people in the kitchen but the food is worth waiting to enjoy. I personally love the wontons here specifically as they are succulent and filled to the brim with either pork and corn or dried scallops that oozes with excitement and the broth balances out the flavors as it's very rich in a unique taste I can't describe. The owners are very friendly, have good management skills ,and respectable manners . The only critique I have for this resturant is the wait time as I had mentioned before could be improved as when they get busy it's harder for their staff to keep up with orders but I promise you it's worth waiting for as you won't regret eating it.The congee here is packed with flavors that are out of this world and would highly recommend. The beef meatballs are also a recommend if you like a citrus acid taste. I know it sounds unique and peculiar but it's worth a taste.
