A cheap go to dinner full of Asian flavors. We shared 4 dishes between the 2 of us. (NOT PICTURED SOUP DUMPLINGS)

Loved the ambience here. We went on a weekday and it was still pretty busy, but the wait was only about 25 minutes, which wasn't bad at all. We ordered the special egg fried rice and enjoyed it, simple and flavorful, though the portion is on the smaller side. The chicken soup dumplings were my favorite; they had a great bite with a delicious burst of soup inside. The Chinese crepe was also very tasty with great texture and flavor. My sister ordered the beef sandwich and Dan Dan noodles, but those weren't her favorites as both were quite salty, and the Dan Dan noodles had a very unique taste. Overall, it was a great experience and I would definitely come back to try more items on the menu, especially the soup dumplings!

It was my first time dining in. I went to get take out before but this time since I dined in, I was able try their dumplings as fresh as possible. Environment: spacious and lots of seats. Staff: attentive and checked in with us many times. Food: 1. pork XLB for $9.95. Thought it was nice and piping hot and the wrap was thin enough. There was a lot of juice and soup inside but the texture of the meat itself was on the mushy side. 2. Chicken and vegetable wonton in chicken soup for $7.90. This was lighter in flavor but again, the meat inside had a mushy texture. 3. I forgot the actual name but I got pan fried wonton. I learned that wonton shouldn't be pan fried because the top parts were so hard, not crispy but chewy and hard to eat. Same thing, the meat inside was mushy. Maybe they're just mushy in general but the other kinds of dumplings I've had at other places had a more bouncy consistency, a texture that I like a lot more. At least I tried this place!

The best soup dumplings in Portland! Good food, prices and service! The dumplings were not dry and the filling was flavorful

dough zone is a family favorite of ours!!!!!! i loveeeeee coming to dough zone! it's just as good as din tai fung if not better!!! the dishes are a great price for what you get here! some of our favorite dishes are the chicken xiao long bao, dan dan noodles, and the chicken and vegetables wontons in chili sauce! they are all soooo delicious. we ordered the yi bin noodles, a normal staple whenever we come here, but this time around the flavor was missing from them. unusual as we've been here 20+ times before and never had this issue, but just disappointing. we went around 11:30 am and were seated immediately as the restaurant was pretty empty. overall i highlyyyyy recommend dough zone to anyone who hasn't tried!

11/19/2024 - I tried the green onion pancake, pan fried pork buns and the chicken potstickers.

I love letting friends pick restaurants! I get led to their favorite spots which have delicious food and, in this case, are practically crawling distance from my house! It was a Tuesday but still, dinnertime and this was busy enough showing that they are popular but not crowded to where you feel like you are eating with the other tables. I love the space itself where the tables are not up against each other. I have a tissue disorder so dining in places which cram in their customers can be an issue for me. This was so nice and wow on customer service where they were there when you needed a thing yet not hounding you. I tried the green onion pancake, pan fried pork buns and the chicken potstickers which were all delicious. Even better - they were great next day too so anything you to go will do you right.

I took the first two pics but then just got distracted by the food!

Ok, so we are HUGE fans of Din Tai Fung but it's not necessarily budget friendly or time friendly due to the long waits so we don't go that often. We found Dough Zone and hello flavor and service! The xiaolongbao and buns did not disappoint and the cucumber salad was like a work of art in its serpentine configuration. For the money and honestly the relaxed environment, the value was top notch but the service was next level. Joe greeted us like we were old friends and curated our experience like we were his relatives. He exemplified the standard of customer service that is sorely needed in every restaurant. Can you please bring Dough Zone to Sherwood?!!!!!

Do NOT pick from the top; it is a loose lid.

Fabulous service! Greeted and seated when I walked in at opening time. Unfortunately, the bathroom was filthy. The soup dumplings continue to be a favorite. Watch out for the soy sauce bottle, pick it up from the base not the top. It spilled all over me; the waiter commented it happens often.

    Wontons in chili oil

The waitstaff were friendly but clearly overwhelmed by lunch rush at 11am on a Friday. After 25min, my vegetable dumplings came out - the veg inside was mushy, bland, and watery. It took 50minutes for me to get my other order of wontons in chili oil and when they did come out, they were lukewarm, the dough was not fully cooked (still hard in spots) and I wasn't totally sure the chicken inside was fully cooked. No apology for seemingly forgetting half my order until I reminded them after 40minutes of waiting. Overall, disappointing experience. The best part was my jasmine tea - they give you a whole pitcher - that was great.

Good casual lunch spot I've been meaning to try this place out for awhile, but my pregnancy hormones were crazy in first trimester so I had to wait until now. I came here for the soup dumplings. This place seems similar to Din Tai Fung. We came here for lunch on a Saturday and it seemed like a good flow of people coming in. We signed in on their waitlist kiosk (they use Yelp) and waited about the given estimated time of 12-ish minutes to be seated. They have indoor and outdoor seating. The interior is nice, bright and casual. Service is very efficient and friendly. We ordered: Pan fried ground beef cakes Chicken soup dumplings (2 orders) Pork buns Chicken pot stickers Side of kale Here are my opinions and observations based on my pregnancy hormones: Beef cakes-- 4 on a plate, it's somewhere between a dumpling and a pot sticker and a bit heavier than both as a dish. Chicken soup dumplings-- 8 on a plate, tasted good with the vinegar and soy sauce dip. You can easily eat many of these. Order 2 orders for 2-3 adults if you order other dishes. This doesn't have a whole lot of onions/herbs like other places, which is fine, but it still tastes good and satisfies my craving. Pork buns-- 4 on a plate, less dough and smaller in size compared to Din Tai Fung, which is fine with me! We ordered other dishes, so I felt like I had more room to eat other things instead of committing to eating a big bun. Other places will have more dough and a small ball of meat, which fills you up quickly. I personally prefer having 4 buns instead of 2 too. Chicken pot stickers-- presentation was interesting because it looked like it was upside down, but it wasn't! My kid loved the pot stickers the most. They're crispy and taste good to me. I think this is a popular dish here. Kale side-- I was all about this. It is soaked in this delicious sesame sauce that kept me wanting more. My husband liked it, but he didn't like it as much as me. I'm thankful they offer this on their vegetable portion of the menu. I would have liked to see a little bit more for their vegetable menu, like bok choy or green beans. I saw them advertising vegetarian options coming soon (or maybe it's available already by now). They also have noodles and teas! We didn't order any items from those portions of the menu because they would fill us up quickly when we wanted to enjoy some dumplings. Overall, I think the food is good and the prices are great! Service was quick and minimal interaction between the waiter. This place is casual and a good alternative to Din Tai Fung. We plan to come back and try other dishes with my mom. Good location, plenty of parking.

I was surprised how big their menu is, and that it spans from Cantonese dim sum to Sichuan spicy dishes. I don't know if that's a good or bad thing. The dim sum is your typical standard fare. They make a good pan fried noodle dish and congee. Of the dim sum items, I think I liked the har gow the best. The rest of the items I think they could use some better seasoning. Service wise they do need a few more carts going when it gets busy. The last time we went, my mom just up and walked over to the cart that was on the other side of the room to get some items. Or just switch to the "pencil and order on demand" method. Saves some of the service hassle. There are some nice banquet sized tables towards the back of the dining room, with lazy susans and such. If you're not looking to go east side for dim sum, this is a suitable place.

It felt very traditional, especially with the lazy Susan's and being able to eat family style Chinese dinner. Every dish we ordered was large and perfect for a large family. Very flavourful, too! This Saturday morning, we went for dim sum with a few friends. I loved that they had carts going around. We arrived right at opening with many other guests, but were promptly serviced. We're all from more Asian areas so it's so nostalgic to sit and speak Cantonese. I was impressed with all of the food. They don't have as many options as other restaurants, but they do have all the basics (har gow, siu mai, cheung fun) that you need. And they were incredibly tasty!! The egg tarts especially were so perfect and flaky. I'm excited for them to become more popular.

The place was full of hungry locals and tourists but was uncustomarily quiet and calm. From the hostess that seated us, to the waitress and servers, all staff and management were extremely polite, positive and helpful. We were starving. So we ordered 3 entrees and side of Dry-fried String beans. The Green Beans were cooked perfectly and the serving size was generous! One of our new favorites is the Mongolian Chicken. Is not a spicy Chinese food dish but the moist chicken and seasonings produced a yummy & comfort food level dish! As usual, the lightly battered & deveined Butterfly prepared Salt & Pepper Shrimp was mouthwatering, with every bite. As the last entree to be served. The ten Chicken & Vegetable Dumplings were fresh and flavorful. The service was kind of weird/awkward about IDing us for drinks. I assured her I was happy to grab my ID and she was kind of rude, alluding to the fact I look old and she doesn't need it haha. As our food started to come, our friend noticed a long black hair in the chicken dumplings. We notified our server and she investigated the dish on our table. This rubbed us all the wrong way because you should believe your customer and take the plate from the table and maybe exam it in the back/kitchen? We didn't like the hair deter us and everything was truly delicious. We had pork soup buns (good, but not very soup-y), pork wontons in chili oil (yum!), chicken potstickers (probably my favorite), spicy chow mein (delicious), the dry fried green beans (so good)! We were stuffed. I ended up telling the server that we wouldn't need the new chicken dumplings and she was very rude and taken back by that. I feel bad to inconvenience them, but none of it would've happened if there wasn't a hair in the food? There were other small, rude things our server did but ultimately, it didn't ruin our night or take away from the delicious food! I would recommend the restaurant with the warning that the service is lackluster.

Only complaint is that, like Franks, they close for a couple of hours after lunch so you have to check your watch if you are hungry to make sure they will be open. But I can certainly understand why they do this. They open at around 11:00 and close up at 21:00 so that's a lot of hours unless they are running more than one shift. Ordering can be a tad obnoxious and they are clearly targeting a hipster clientele. For those of us who are hearing disabled and do not have a cell phone the QR code ordering scheme can be a total turn off.
