Late post but we dined in sometime in November and didn't really think we would be returning as the interior is really aged and smelly and dimmed in lighting, kind of dark. It is very large dinning area for large parties. linen is used for table cloth had some stains and seems aged...their bathroom is right when you walk in and with the doors open it smells like bleach and just gross before you walk to dinning area. Service is quick to order and they do come by to check on you once food arrives. We dinned ij for some mainstay dimsum and ordered one clay pot eggplant dish. I noticed food was hot and clay pot wasn't and didn't have any food stuck to it as if it was cooked in there. The price charged for it however having eaten many clay pot dishes I think it was cooked in a wok on stove then transferred over..perhaps it's just a gimmick that it sounds fancy and at the same time you'll only ever know if you actually were a staff in kitchen. In addition to the clay pot eggplant dish, we ordered chicken feet, bean curd roll with pork and siu mai. Bean curd rolls were so disappointing, lack of the gravy sauce that goes over it to keep it moist and the pork meat was smelly, so pungent that I was not able to finish my bite. Never ordering it again. Some of the siu mai and chicken feet were not hot like right out of steamer. Chicken feet was soaked in a very sweet syrup like sauce, a bit too sweet for our preference, not savory. We did take out for dimsum today. Ordered online and it was a very simple process. 4 orders of their siu mai and an order of glutinous fried dumpling. Siu mai was moderately hot as they steam it and then pack it so it is up to you to heat it up to eat at home. Glutinous fried dumplings were crispy but taste was a bit lackluster with no flavor and very little filling. I've had better ones else where and it's packed with filing and more flavor even in the glutinous dough wrap. Overall, would recommend to do online order and take out only. They look inside the bag to determine if you are allowed to get more soy sauce and chili oil, we asked because we were given very small amounts for 16 pieces of siu mai.

We came here for their 50% off June deal and it exceeded my expectations. My SO and I ordered several things and we were amazed by the portion sizes. It's a little hard to tell from photos, but they were HUGE compared to HK and Excellent Cuisine on east side. The Ha Gao, pretty small though, but still, all our other dishes were large portions, leaving us EXTREMELY full. I was a little disappointed because a food influencer mentioned that they were walking around with carts. We personally like the carts better because it's easier to visualize, but having it come out "fresh" is better. I will admit, it was a little disappointing because a table behind up turned away one of their dishes because it was really frozen. When I heard the couple talking, they said half their food was frozen, but the Chicken feet was kind of their "tipping point" for complaining. As for service, it was okay. I'm assuming the establishment is family owned. One of the servers was a bit rude to other customers, but she's young so it's understandable. When I was her age, I used to be a server at a busy restaurant that was short staffed so I can understand the stress sometimes. Overall, a solid place if I was lazy to drive to east side. Compared to HK, excellent cuisine, and Jin Wah (rest in peace), I think I'll have to rank this at the bottom.

Hair full length ended up inside a "steamed pork bun". My mother unfortunately had the experience of eating the bun with the hair.

This was our 3rd time to visit this restaurant, except this time it was a busy Easter Sunday brunch. My mom unfortunately had the unfortunate experience of biting into a steamed bun and ended with a mouthful of a full length hair cooked in the pork bun. She was so disgusted we almost walked out without paying. Due to the day being Easter I decide to have the manager adjust the bill minus the steamed buns and went home. Just a heads up seems like they can be in violation of numerous health department rules. The people in the kitchen we noted was seen not wearing hair bonnets causing for the loose hair to fall into the food being prepared. Nonetheless, I left without leaving a tip. Customer beware.

The restaurant is in a very old building, interior is dark and has that old smelling. We went there for dim sum, I had the worst shrimp dumplings there. Dumpling wraps were too thick and I couldn't find any shrimp in the dumplings. The crispy noodle we ordered was ok. This is not the place for authentic Chinese dim sum.

Yeah, we ate a ton! Wanted leftovers and boy did we.

Very good dim-sum, service was slow. They are obviously short staffed. Seems to be a problem at many places. Attitude was, well, typical of a dim-sum/Chinese restaurant. While I can get around an attitude I know many people take offense. I would say don't let that sway you and try their dim-sum. Their other dishes like beef chow fun are really good.

Ask the Community - East Harbor

Does this location do dim sum in the carts or just ordered? Is dimsum just on weekends?

We do dimsum everyday from 11am-3pm by order (except on Tuesdays since we’re closed)!

What are we looking at vegetarian food wise? Is it like special vegetarian dishes, or did they just take meat off/out of something?

They have a number of dishes where the protein is tofu. They also have dishes based on vegetables but I wouldn't say that they have a great vegetarian selection. This isn't a negative for East Harbor only a comment on American Chinese restaurants in… Read more

During that time I had wondered if they'd take the opportunity to update anything, but no, the menu, food, and even the interior are almost exactly the same! Everything I've tried has always been at least decent and usually excellent, but the lemon chicken, hand-shaved noodles, and various spicy fish dishes are particular favorites. Ideal for large groups to eat family style at the revolving tables, though the lunch specials are also great value. Even during the first few months of reopening, when the restaurant was packed and lines were out the door, somehow the service was timely, and it continues to be. Here's to many more years!

We've only been since the reopening in 2025, so I have no idea what the place felt like before. But somehow this place is homey feeling, almost COZY? This feeling is very, very, very foreign to me as the vibes are usually THE LAST thing that draw me in to an authentic Chinese restaurant. It's great! Secondly, the menu is awesome. They've got the crowd pleaser dishes like honey walnut shrimp, but I most appreciate their Wild Side menu which has all the authentic stuff! They've got some bangers like the dry cooked pork intestines and the chilled bean jelly. Our go-to dishes are the Dry Fried String Beans (slaps every time) and Seafood Tofu in Hot Pot (my daughter's FAVORITE). The quality is consistent and food always comes out fast. Taste of Sichuan, thank you for existing. We will continue to be your loyal patrons!

We came early on a Wednesday night and were the only ones here. What was good and bad? First let me say, we asked for help with ordering. The server couldn't understand why I was confused. I said I wanted the braised pork wide flat noodle and showed him the photo on Yelp. He told me to select stir-fry, then spicy pork flat noodle. I explained I didn't want spicy, he said it's not spicy then pushed the "less spicy" option. When the dish arrived, you could see the red peppers and it definitely was spicy! It was tasty but very spicy! My husband got the Mongolian beef which he said was good - he selected "no spicy". The only downside was it does not come with rice. Just Mongolian beef and lots of onions. We also ordered the bbq bao - do not order this - the dough was really "off" in both texture and flavor. I literally spit it out as did my husband. We'd come back but we'd be better prepared to order and we'd be way more cautious with what we order.

It's a nice cozy restaurant. Server were quick and friendly. She recommended some other dish on the Mei that was new. But I know what I was going to get. My friend ordered the Kung Pao chicken lunch special but it also run through dinner time as well. Yes, you do have to add $3 extra for rice but where I live in Seattle. Add on rice is normal for $3. If ordering from here, I would recommend the kung pao chicken, beef pancake roll, wonton chili oil, and the typhoon tofu. For $50 you get a good spread of food and even enough for leftovers the next day! Kung pao chicken is pretty tasty, probably the best we've had in Oregon. The sauce was slightly spicy, tangy, and had depth- while the chicken and peanuts had the perfect light sear. The beef in the pancake roll was nicely tenderized and had a good amount of veggies and savory sauce to tie it all together. Wonton chili oil was solid with no complaints. Lastly the typhoon tofu was a surprisingly delightful dish as it was crispy, lightly seasoned, and paired well with rice- looks heavy but light and so tasty! A solid 3.5 stars with room to earn more. We had a couple other non- worthy mention dishes such as the popular pork pancake roll and chow fun, hence the 3.5 stars.
