Cute little ramen shop tucked into a corner. Look out for the sign on the door as there's not a light up "Yuzu" sign above the shop. I have come once before and tried the curry ramen, which was amazing. I came with my brother and we decided to sample a few apps. We got the shishito peppers, kimchi mozzarella rolls, sake onigiri, pork belly, and chicken karaage. Everything was fantastic, but specifically the karaage was stand out, perfectly tender and juicy chicken with a great crunch! I think I was too hyped up for this place with all the reviews I read and I even asked some locals about their experience here and everyone I asked said this was the best ramen they had ever eaten. While it was tasty, it definitely isn't the best ramen I have ever had. I would give the ramen a 6/10. The broth was ok but I didn't really enjoy the noodles. The other food was delicious as well. I really enjoyed the shishito peppers and the salad. The almond slices in the salad were a nice bit of texture and it wasn't overly saucy. The gyoza was fine. The mentaiko was nice and probably the closest to "feeling like Japan" I got from this experience. The service was great though and they were very nice with answering our many questions while we were ordering. Best ramen and best service. I have tried many ramen dishes in Portland, Tigard and Beaverton but nothing can beat Yuzu.

I love this place. It's a fairly small but cozy japanese restaurant. The ower is always so friendly. I'm pretty sure she knows us. She sees me and knows we'll need a space for our stroller. They welcome kids. My toddler loves coming here. My baby now has started to eat some ramen too. My favorite is the grilled squid and friend squid eggs. I also get the agedashin tofu. I love how you can adjust the salt level on these ramen. My favorite main dish was the curry ramen. Though everything was pretty good. I would say I come here at least a few times a month. read more

Visiting from Vancouver, BC we have a lot of exceptional Japanese ramen restaurants and if Yuzu opened in Vancouver, they would do amazing! You might walk past Yuzu as there is no large sign on the exterior. Once you enter, the interior is so cozy and inviting. We shared Agedashi Tofu and we all ordered ramen. Hubby likes his spicy (Kokuni Ramen) and rest of us ordered mild Miso Ramen. I did ask for soba noodles (buckwheat) instead of egg noodles as it is good for my dietary restriction. Delicious and satisfying. We came the day before to make a reservation for next day (dinner). I believe it was the owner we talked to and we weren't sure if she remember us as as it didn't write it down. We were pleasant to see our table had a 'reserve' sign when were seated. Yuzu is one of beaverton institutions, a hidden gem. In fact, it could be challenging to find their shop as it simply marked "YUZU" on their entrance. It's been a while since I was there, so I was pleasantly surprised nothing really has changed. Knowing there were limited seatings , we called ahead to make a reservation and we were glad we did. Many drop in customers had to wait for 30 minutes or turned away, which could be a bummer. The food here is Japanese beer house style. You'll find some rice balls, grilled meat, and other common Japanese dishes such as Katsu and ramen here. We ordered some sake, grilled shishito peppers, the house ramen and katsu curry rice, and liked all of what we ordered. The ramen was rich and savory, with fall apart pork belly chunks. My boyfriend really enjoyed the smooth curry and crunchy pork katsu as well. It was fun to see what the chef was doing thru the open kitchen, and our servers were very friendly and attentive, which made our dining experience very enjoyable. I loved their vegetarian ramen! There was a generous amount of noodles with enough veggies and tofu to make it filling without overpowering. The broth tasted well too. They also have 2 optional levels of spice (medium-spicy and spicy) and I went with Spicy. The broth was more red and hotter but it enhanced the experience without sacrificing the taste - if you love your spice definitely go for it. I switched the egg noodles for rice noodles, which was fresh and went really well with the ramen. Service was great, we unknowingly stayed past closing but they didn't rush us out and were kind with us from start to finish. The place itself was clean and felt homely and a had a small family-vibe to it. It is hard to find the place though, it's in the same parking lot to the UPS store but their sign is not lit up outside so if you park in that lot and walk to the right of UPS you should be able to find it. read more

I came here to dine alone the other night having heard great things from some friends / acquaintances. It was a cold night and I was ready for some soul-warming Japanese food. Upon entry, you're greeted by an incredibly kind staff and relaxed atmosphere. This is clearly a great place to relax, order sake / beer, and food while hanging out with friends. I ordered some hot sake (waitress / owners rec), pork Katsu (single order), and the curry ramen. The sake was great and both food items hit the spot although may have been a little underwhelming (curry ramen was good but not great and the Katsu was deliciously tender but the crust got soggy quickly). Portland and Beaverton have few izakaya. For Beaverton, after Afuri stopped serving skewers, I had no place to go for Japanese grilled foods. Yuzu perhaps is the only place to go, and its grill selections are amazing. From squid to chicken to mackerel, it offers pretty good options. Ramen is disappointing, so recommend non-ramen options. Draft is also great. Some local breweries disappoint customers with poor glass management and quality of draft beer itself, so even this place outcompetes them easily. read more

This is the best hidden gem I have possibly ever had. I'm half Japanese and my family made authentic ramen almost every night when I was a kid. Unfortunately they have passed. When my dish came out, I put my nose to it and it brought me back to their kitchen. my tonkatsu ramen had amazing flavor. It had chili flakes, green onions, garlic, seaweed and a lot of other ingredients that I can't identify. The heat was perfect and the flavor was truly out of this world. My daughter loved her curry ramen and boyfriend loved his mackerel and miso ramen. We also had the karaage appetizer which was crispy, flavorful and mouth watering. The restaurant is super cute and decorated well. You can see the staff cooking. The bathroom is enormous! The ambiance was perfect. It was packed when we got there at 7:30pm on a Thursday but we only had to wait 20 minutes. It's definitely a little difficult to find. It's in a strip mall, has dark windows and a tiny sign that you can barely see. Trust me, it's worth it. If you read my review and don't come here, you will regret it. 3.5 Got myself the signature Kakuni- ramen and it came within 10 minutes and while it hit the spot for the fall, rainy weather- it wasn't all too memorable. The pork belly was very fatty, and the sliced bbq pork plus bamboo shoots was given sparingly (I didn't even have a whole piece but small fragments). It seemed that the toppings were placed in the bowl first then the broth as some were at the very bottom. I did enjoy the sesame seeds and ginger it came with for extra flavor in the broth. For the price it didn't seem as worth it as much as the other ramen options. On the weekend it gets crowded very quickly and with a wait too. I barely managed to grab a seat at bar an hour after they opened. Also, no hooks for belongings under the table for bar seating. 2 card limit per table if that is your method of payment. The service is good in terms of the staff, two servers didn't seem overwhelmed with everyone waiting and though it took a minute for my order to get placed after that it was fine. Yuzu and I had a very rough start when it first opened over a decade ago. No seating available at 5:30pm opening because you are booked solid at 6pm. Hmm... didn't think about saving seats for walk-ins long ago. That's in the past, with multiple ownership changes (I'm guessing) and ramen choices in the area, seating isn't as crazy as before. Now it's a consistent, high quality ramen joint with friendly service and a clean atmosphere. I'll always get the kakuni and nothing else, I just feel it's the best value as it's a more complex broth and yummy soft chunks of pork always hits the spot. I get it with curly noodles rather than traditional straight noodles. I just wish their extra additions weren't so high priced relative to other ramen establishments in the city. Extra noodles and a soft boiled egg will add 50% more cost to your bowl. That's kinda high, soft boiled eggs take time to prepare, but noodles are relatively inexpensive. But make no mistake they make a mean soft boiled egg that is sure to please, just gotta be willing to pay for it. read more

The Ramen has not arrived yet and I am already feeling the magic. Yuzu has an open kitchen so we are able to watch these lovely ladies work on getting the food out. They have skills. They dance around each other, making it all look so easy but there is no lack of work ethic here. Yuzu is tiny. Prepare for a wait. Open for both lunch and dinner, they close for a couple hours in between. They have no sign above the restaurant, but they are here! We ordered the Kukuni (their "signature" ramen). Tonkotsu broth with BBQ pork, stewed pork belly and all the fixings. If you want tamago you will need to order it on the side. We did. Along side the ramen is a small plate of delicious garlic paste and sesame seeds. Yuzu's Ramen is a bit different but in some great ways. While I thought certain things could be better I was extremely impressed with other things. Uncommon in the U.S., they serve fine, thin egg noodles in their Ramen. While my companion wasn't a fan of them, I liked them. What really got me was the broth and it impressed my guest too. When you think Tonkotsu you think rich, creamy and salty right? Well at Yuzu their broth is very light, almost like chicken but they managed to achive that deep rich flavor in such a light broth. It was quite unique for Tonkotsu. The Tamago was not soy marinated but it was cooked easy (yay). The stewed pork belly was sweet, yes, sweet. It was unlike any I have encountered before and stewed to melt-in-your-mouth perfection. One of the best hidden gems in Beaverton. A friend recommended that I visit this place to try great japanese food. I was blown away. The servers are super nice and service is very fast. I tried their onigiri, soba and mackerel and all were very tasty. They had a wide selection of sake as well and they recommended a cloudy one for me since I enjoyed drinks on the sweet side.
