Squid and Karaage
Nicholas O.

Back at Yuzu and it did not disappoint. Just a heads up: you'll want to get there right when they open because they fill up fast. It's also kind of hidden in the corner. I actually missed it the first time and thought I had the wrong location haha. The squid was really good with a nice chewy texture, and they fry it so well here, crispy on the outside without feeling greasy. The karaage might honestly be one of the best. Super crispy and fresh on the outside, while staying juicy and tender inside. I got the Kakuni Ramen and really enjoyed it. I love the type of noodles they use, nice and bouncy with great texture. The tonkotsu broth was rich, flavorful, and well seasoned without being overwhelming. I appreciated the greens that helped cut through the richness and balance the bowl. The pork was a highlight: both the thin slices and the thick kakuni pork belly on top were delicious. The pork belly was incredibly tender and well marinated! My only small complaint is that I wish it came with an egg!

I'm not sure why I never knew this place existed but I'm glad I do now! It's a hidden gem that is quaint when it comes to the ambience and decor, but what truly stands out, is the comforting food! Seating is limited so depending on the time you visit, there could be a wait for a table or you'll have to be comfortable sitting at the counter. My husband and I came here for dinner and we ended up ordering a few some small plates like the salad, cold tofu with bonito flakes, agedashi tofu, grilled eggplant and sake ikura don. Although they are simple, they were delicious and did not disappoint. It felt like I was being served a home cooked meal. Next time, I'd like to try their Ramen as other Yelpers have raved about. There isn't anything else to mention except that they also had excellent customer service that made the overall experience very pleasant.

We came for the breakfast!! Super yummy and great atmosphere here! I don't normally like fish (cooked or raw) but I ate everything!!

Tldr it was ok??? Yummy but not the best I have had. I think I was too hyped up for this place with all the reviews I read and I even asked some locals about their experience here and everyone I asked said this was the best ramen they had ever eaten. While it was tasty, it definitely isn't the best ramen I have ever had. I would give the ramen a 6/10. The broth was ok but I didn't really enjoy the noodles. The other food was delicious as well. I really enjoyed the shishito peppers and the salad. The almond slices in the salad were a nice bit of texture and it wasn't overly saucy. The gyoza was fine. The mentaiko was nice and probably the closest to "feeling like Japan" I got from this experience. The service was great though and they were very nice with answering our many questions while we were ordering. Overall I was a bit disappointed by the food but it was still a solid eating experience.

Yuzu is one of the best ramen in Beaverton! I love how unassuming the outside is which makes you feel like you've stumbled across gatekept gem. The chicken karaage is incredibly delicious with a crispy coating and tender inside. Their ramen broths are also very rich and smooth, but not heavy which I greatly enjoy.

You gotta come to Yuzu, in Beaverton, OR, for authentic Japanese classic food! Visiting from Vancouver, BC we have a lot of exceptional Japanese ramen restaurants and if Yuzu opened in Vancouver, they would do amazing! You might walk past Yuzu as there is no large sign on the exterior. Once you enter, the interior is so cozy and inviting. We shared Agedashi Tofu and we all ordered ramen. Hubby likes his spicy (Kokuni Ramen) and rest of us ordered mild Miso Ramen. I did ask for soba noodles (buckwheat) instead of egg noodles as it is good for my dietary restriction. Delicious and satisfying. We came the day before to make a reservation for next day (dinner). I believe it was the owner we talked to and we weren't sure if she remember us as as it didn't write it down. We were pleasant to see our table had a 'reserve' sign when were seated. Wonderful service!

Yuzu is one of beaverton institutions, a hidden gem. In fact, it could be challenging to find their shop as it simply marked "YUZU" on their entrance. It's been a while since I was there, so I was pleasantly surprised nothing really has changed. Knowing there were limited seatings , we called ahead to make a reservation and we were glad we did. Many drop in customers had to wait for 30 minutes or turned away, which could be a bummer. The food here is Japanese beer house style. You'll find some rice balls, grilled meat, and other common Japanese dishes such as Katsu and ramen here. We ordered some sake, grilled shishito peppers, the house ramen and katsu curry rice, and liked all of what we ordered. The ramen was rich and savory, with fall apart pork belly chunks. My boyfriend really enjoyed the smooth curry and crunchy pork katsu as well. It was fun to see what the chef was doing thru the open kitchen, and our servers were very friendly and attentive, which made our dining experience very enjoyable. Overall, we like this little gem in beaverton and will come back again.

Back then, I felt their prices for everything was a bit higher than most other similar places around, well that's not the case anymore. We recently dined here twice, both during lunch hours. Service is attentive, and the place felt comfortable. My kiddos had the Pho ga but felt the chicken was a bit dry and lack flavor, but otherwise delicious. I enjoyed my beef Pho, it wasn't the most flavorful but a very solid 8/10. The crispy pork rolls were excellent, fried perfectly, and both the Vietnamese coffee as well as the pineapple smoothie for the kiddos were well made.

Taking one glance at the menu, I gotta say this is totally my jam. Ramen, of course. But also tons of the little izakaya-style small plates and appetizers. My buddy went with the Shiro Ramen, and loved it quite a bit. Whereas I took a bunch of these smaller bites so as to try a bunch of things. The Karrage fried chicken is just superb! If you order only one of the small plates, it should be this. I also tried the Prawn Cutlet, a sort of deep fried patty made of prawn and drizzled with sauce. This was pretty ok. And went with the Onigiri, too. Though these, though stuffed with tuna, were a little on the bland side, though admittedly I maybe needed to get some dipping sauce. NOTE TO SELF: Try the actual ramen next time. For the prices we paid, I think the portion sizes were pretty decent. And the service was pretty prompt, though had a couple slow downs. Though i think this was because, at least on the night we visited, the staff here were pulling double duty with staffing the food hall bar, too. Anyway, this spot was still pretty cool, and rescued us from the Hangry feeling after a day of exploring the city. If you need a good bowl of noodles or have a hankering to try the small plates, then this is a good choice.

The restaurant is very accessible with plenty of parking around the building and a wheelchair-friendly entrance. Upon entering, I was immediately greeted by the friendly staff. The interior is lovely--very clean and has a great vibe that makes you feel comfortable right away. The Meal I ordered the Oyster Soft Tofu Stew, which came with a side of rice, a fresh egg, and a variety of banchan (side dishes). The Stew: It had a nice spicy kick, but cracking the raw egg into the boiling pot mellowed the heat perfectly. It was delicious and paired wonderfully with the rice. The Banchan: While the variety was nice, I found most of the side dishes to be a bit too salty for my personal taste, so I didn't finish them all. To-Go: I also ordered a Seafood Scallion Pancake to take home, and the staff was happy to package it up for me. Overall, it was a very pleasant solo dining experience with great service. I'd definitely return for the stew!

Our waitress was exceptionally thoughtful--noticing we had our young daughter with us, she proactively let us know they could prepare dishes non-spicy. The larb had a slightly stronger fish sauce profile, which I personally enjoyed, though it was a bit strong for my daughter. The accompanying lettuce was nice and crisp, and the mint was super refreshing. We also ordered the value set, which came with three different noodle dishes and ended up being a lot more food than expected. The server's recommendation to get egg noodles for the guey tiew was spot on, as they absorbed all the flavor perfectly. Across all three dishes, the meat was high quality and tasted very fresh. We'll definitely be back in person, as a dish like the hot pot is not something that can be enjoyed the same way as a takeout.
