Want the best hot pot in the Portland area? Willing to drive out to Beaverton? Then you're in luck--Happy Lamb Hot Pot is hands down the best hot pot in PDX. Located in Beaverton, Happy Lamb is the perfect place to get your hot pot fix. This was my first time, so I went with friends who knew what they were doing, and it was such a great experience. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's a fun spot to share a meal, spacious and comfortable, though it can definitely get busy.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Plenty of parking and super friendly staff made things even better. The food was amazing. The sauce and sides bar had tons of tasty options, with endless combinations to really build your flavors. I went with the all-you-can-eat premium, which gives you a little bit of everything--and it did not disappoint. This is ideal for a cold, rainy day. Give yourself plenty of time to eat, relax, and enjoy the experience. And honestly, the pictures don't do it justice. Pro tip: Go on a weekday for lunch or happy hour if you can. Highly recommend--enjoy!

Sad to see the prices go up again. $2 increase plus the new $2 broth fee per person. That's a $4 increase for the regular menu this year. $5 increase for the premium menu. The menu changes from time to time, and their happy hour seems to come and go as well. For birthdays, the free meal only applies to the regular menu. If you choose the premium menu, they only offer a discount. If you haven't tried, their chicken wings under the starters are actually pretty good when they come out fresh and hot, even better than some dedicated wing spots. However, they are not always fresh and hot, and starters often come out pretty late. From my experience, if I come right when they open around 11:30 AM-12 PM, the meat quality doesn't look as good compared to later in the day. They recently added a reward program based on wait time, similar to other places like Haidilao. I hope they eventually introduce a points-based membership program like other places too. I usually come here once a month and it would be nice to earn points. Service is still a hit or miss, but the food tastes good as usual.

This is my go-to spot for hotpot. I love their broth selections, there's always something flavorful whether you want something light or more bold. The quality of the meat is consistently great, and they offer a wide variety of veggies, meat, and add-ons, so you can customize your pot however you like. The restaurant can get busy, so I recommend reserving a table ahead of time through Yelp or walking in a bit early. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Dinner rush, especially on weekends, can get packed.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Despite the crowds, the staff are always friendly, attentive, and quick to refill broths or bring out extra item The ordering process is super easy. They hand you an iPad where you can select whatever you want, and the food usually comes out pretty fast. I also came in for my free birthday meal, which was a nice bonus. The only requirement is dining with a total of four people, which makes it a fun spot to celebrate with friends or family. Overall, highly recommend if you're craving hotpot!

My bf loves hotpot, and was craving it, so came here for lunch. I'm more if a dry pot person, but I do like AYCE, and like that you can try a variety of things. My bf and I chose our own broths. My bf enjoyed everything, and so did I. I just feel like they should include sauces, instead of charging an additional cost for it. Service was quick and friendly.

OK you really can't beat the weekday AYCE deal for $29 and it sounds like now they have set menus for lunch as well. This is for sure our go-to spot to get our hot pot fix and they have added more things to their sauce bar each time we go ($3.99/person). The service is always fast and efficient, though I wouldn't say too friendly. They get you food and they get it done. Lots of seating for all group sizes and the booths are always clean, nice, and comfy. To be honest we don't always make it to Round 2 but that's also because we front load the meat in the first round. Fatty Beef is a MUST and of course pro tip don't fill up on fried rice, wings, and the sauce bar things (spring rolls, sesame balls, etc) but the fried buns with the condensed milk is a must-get for us every time and the fermented cabbage, woodear mushroom, and peanuts provide the acidity and spiciness that pairs well with the rich and decadent broth. Something new that happened I did not expect was the $10 charge for my toddler (she's 3 and ate maybe 3 slices of spam and some sauce bar things) apparently they charge kids 3-5 years old a flat rate of $10 now and they also did charge her for the sauce bar - our whole group opted into the sauce bar. I'm still not sure how to feel about this charge yet...might reconsider bringing her here since I definitely don't think she eats that much to warrant a charge. Anyway, the food quality and taste choices are always solid here. I personally love the tomato broth but all their broths are rich and flavorful and worth a try whether you're a new or seasoned hot-pot consumer.

Oh dear. I've been to HLHP a handful of times before but can't say I'll ever go again. There was definitely a language barrier with the menu, and I'm not sure if they got a new server or menu since my last visit, but I've never had a harder or more confusing time communicating what I'd like to order. The AYCE menu vs the a la carte menu, using Groupon vs using the free birthday meal, and having to have 4 adults in order to use the free birthday meal was all too much. The food was decent, but not worth the trouble it took to order.

Despite the name, they have a good variety of vegetarian/vegan options! Their broths can be made vegan so we got 2 hot pots, one as is and one Vegan You can do a half and half, so we got a curry and a spicy one for the vegan pot. The curry was by far my favorite You can get up to 3 rounds of proteins, veggies and rice/noodles The fried rice and noodles were delicious. For protein I got 3 types of tofu, bean curds and a whole assortment of veggies You get a paper menu and you check off all the things you want in the first round, then you give it to them at the end of each round when you are ready for the next servings There is also an AYCE sauce bar for a surcharge which comes with different sauces and oils that you can mix around, plus spring rolls and whatnot Both times we've came, we never could make it to the 3rd round Service was okay, even with no rush it felt like we weren't being checked in on as often as we'd like. At $32 a person before tip, it's not cheap but still worth the experience. Do go hungry for sure!

Happy lamb is always booming every time I come in. It's one of my favorite hot pot places. There is a little waiting area across the register. They greet you as soon as you walk in. My family and I always order the half & half broth(original/spicy). The spicy marrow broth is not that spicy in my opinion but it is really flavorful. We order majority of the menu the first round and our favorites the 2nd round. Chicken wings are amazing and crunchy. The sauce bar has so much options, from desserts to little appetizer fit a few extra bucks.

Happy Lamb has changed a bit over the years and since my last review but I still feel like they are the best option for AYCE hotpot in the Portland area. When they first opened under Little Sheep the broths were so packed with flavor that you didn't need dipping sauces and your clothes would smell of hot pot and herbs long after leaving. These days the broth is still fantastic but it's no where near as strong as it used to be however they have a $3 sauce bar where you can make your own sauces now which is a nice touch. There's sauces, a few fried finger food options like wonton skins or egg rolls, black fungus, fruits, and other desserts, but unfortunately the old soft serve machine from years ago is no longer present. There's a new premium option now for like $12-15 more but we typically stick with the base option and are plenty satisfied with that.

    Kadin H.

Great options, I think there's value in both the ala carte and AYCE options, it just depends on your appetite. Portions are plenty big, we ordered ala carte two meats and four sides plus two orders of noodles and it was just right for four people. The quality of all of the food was excellent! Half spicy and half original broth is the way to go. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Could be great for a larger party or just a couple.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

We continue to go to hot pot here, time after time. It always hits the spot. And prices cannot be beat for the unlimited buffet options. Service has gotten much better the last couple of times. They have paid attention to the rounds we are on and get in our next order quickly. They have also been very attentive to our water and tea needs. It has definitely been a wonderful culinary experience!

We came early on a Wednesday night and were the only ones here. What was good and bad? First let me say, we asked for help with ordering. The server couldn't understand why I was confused. I said I wanted the braised pork wide flat noodle and showed him the photo on Yelp. He told me to select stir-fry, then spicy pork flat noodle. I explained I didn't want spicy, he said it's not spicy then pushed the "less spicy" option. When the dish arrived, you could see the red peppers and it definitely was spicy! It was tasty but very spicy! My husband got the Mongolian beef which he said was good - he selected "no spicy". The only downside was it does not come with rice. Just Mongolian beef and lots of onions. We also ordered the bbq bao - do not order this - the dough was really "off" in both texture and flavor. I literally spit it out as did my husband. We'd come back but we'd be better prepared to order and we'd be way more cautious with what we order.

We stopped in for lunch and were impressed by how quickly everything arrived. The portions were generous, the ingredients tasted fresh, and every dish was full of flavor. The walnut shrimp was outstanding. The shrimp were perfectly cooked with a light, crispy coating and covered in a creamy sauce that wasn't overly sweet. The candied walnuts added the perfect crunch, making every bite rich and satisfying without being overwhelming. I also ordered the lamb, and it was the highlight of the meal. The lamb was tender, juicy, and beautifully seasoned, cooked with red onions that added sweetness and complemented the savory flavors perfectly. It's not every day you find a restaurant serving lamb this well, and I would happily order it again. We started with the hot and sour soup, which was comforting and packed with flavor. It had just the right balance of tanginess and spice, with plenty of ingredients in every spoonful. The steamed rice was cooked perfectly and paired well with both entrées. Everything arrived hot and fresh, and the meal never felt rushed despite how quickly it came out of the kitchen. One of the best parts of our visit was the value. The prices are very reasonable for the quality and portion sizes, making this a fantastic place for lunch or dinner without spending a fortune. Here is how the dishes fared: - Mapo Tofu: The sauce had a decent kick and nice chili oil sheen, but it was leaning a bit too heavy on starch and salt without much of that authentic, mouth-numbing Sichuan peppercorn depth (ma). The tofu texture was nice and soft, but overall the flavor profile felt a little flattened. - Crispy Spicy Chicken / Chongqing Chicken: Visually great and seasoned well with chili flakes and sesame seeds, but the chicken pieces were fried a bit too long, leaving them somewhat dry on the inside. A lighter batter and a punchier garlic/chili aromatic oil would make a world of difference here. Overall, it's an okay neighborhood option if you're craving a quick, filling meal, but it lacks the bold, vibrant spices you'd hope for from this style of cuisine.
