I found Mito on Yelp when searching for sushi "near me". I was happy to learn of this new location. I think this bayside location is a good fit for the neighborhood. We sat for a early Friday dinner. They don't have their liquor license yet, so we brought our own wine, but saw the wine menu they will offer and the prices were fair. We had three appetizers spicy edamame, Gyoza, and yummy shishito peppers. For our main course we had chef choice sushi/sashimi for two. A great price value FOR SURE. The two rolls we chose for our accompaniment for the combo dinner were the Mito Roll and the Triple 3 roll. All were fresh and tasty. This place has awesome service and wonderful food. We were craving sushi and this place popped up on the map! Let me tell you, it was amazing! We ordered the Seafood Bisque Soup which was cooked to perfection! And the bread was perfect! We also ordered the yellowtail jalapeño which was perfect! The sushi we order was the Mango Roll and Lobster Roll which were perfect and the sauce that topped it gave it the finishing touch. We tried Mito for the first time not too long ago and after loving their weekday lunch menu, came often. We tried it out on a weekend, but without the bento box options..it was much more expensive for much less food. We stuck to visiting weekdays until they recently changed their menu. Some appetizers have changed, option in the bento box and dressing for their avocado salad. They also got rid of the wonton soup which was delicious. Lots of changes, and none for the better. Waited an extremely long time for it for the food to be a disappointment. For one the sushi was not good at all. Falling apart while trying to eat it and eating it was worse. Did not taste right at all. We were also given wrong items. My boyfriend ordered udon noodles with chicken there was no chicken in it and barely any noodles in the Tupperware. Had a really bad experience and the waiter was terrible AND it was my birthday. My food and entree was brought out at the same time. And he claimed the food would be thrown out and I would get a new dish. I purposely remembered the way the roasted chicken looked when it was brought out but it ended up looking exactly the same. Where do I begin....well, I loved the decor.....and thats where it ends. If you're a true "foodie", stay far away and look for the many other Sushi restaurants the area offers. I was hoping for an amazing experience, what I got was a rude, inattentive staff. We sat for our dinner and weren't happy with the table, when we asked to be moved, we were told they couldn't accommodate us due to a table that was coming in...5 HOURS LATER!!!! Really? I asked to speak with the manager and being one myself, I assumed the issue would be taken care of promptly. It wasn't. We sat through an ok meal (meaning I'd never go back) but then, when I didn't think it could get worse. I looked over at an empty table and watched a huge bug, maybe a roach (wasn't sure) climb across the table nonchalantly. Luckily we'd paid the check and were headed out... but for the rest of the day, I was imagining how filthy the kitchen might be after seeing that. If you really need to go to Mito, walk in, take in the decor, then turn around, walk to the exit and be happy you didn't have to spend your hard earned money for an inexcusable experience. read more

Last night a group of 7 of us went to celebrate my dear friend's 50th birthday. Wow - what a mistake. Drinks took about 2o minutes to kick off what was meant to be a celebratory night and because we were out in a side room we literally had to flag a waiter down on various occasions. After ordering our entrees we were told they were very busy and it may take a while - 'a while' translated to an hour and 40 minutes after we arrived. How is a restaurant actually using the fact that it's a busy Saturday night as an excuse not to have their shit together? Isn't it the actual goal to be crowded on a Saturday and therefore you're prepared on how to deal with it? And for the record - they had an average amount of guests - nothing unmanageable. I complained again reiterating it was my friend's 50th and this was unacceptable. Also the food was mediocre at best. My fried lobster roll was cold and hard by the time it hit the table which is not how a cooked roll should be served. None of us ordered dessert because we were afraid it would take another 90 minutes and you'd think they would just surprise my friend with a dessert and a candle regardless of not ordering anything. Checked out this restaurant due to the 5 star reviews for a birthday celebration. I really wanted to like the restaurant. The interior and exterior is gorgeous. The owners put a lot of thought into decorating it. I called a couple days early to make a reservation for outdoor dining, afraid it would be crowded on a Saturday night. My party of 7 arrived, it wasn't overly busy but there were patrons and seemed well staffed. They didn't find my reservation so the staff had to prepare our tables..we stood in the lobby for a good 10 minutes. Next our waiter, Xin, came and introduced himself. He was super friendly and let us know of the specials for the night. When we let him know we weren't interested, his demeanor completely changed and he took his sweet time taking care of our table. In fact, after he took our order, he never came back. In addition, I had to ask him for water for the table. His service was horrible and unfortunately made our experience unenjoyable. If it weren't for the other staff members who actually were nice and took care of us, I probably would have been even more disappointed. The food was good, but the service was terrible. The large outdoor dining space is a huge plus for those concerned with social distancing. I hope others have a better experience..it could have just been our server, Xin. read more

This is the spot that replaced Allora and fairly new so I was hoping to support this place. But, I already knew something was up when I probably had the same server as Karen K (one of the reviewers). A waiter came over and introduced himself as a previous sushi chef with three years of experience and kept trying to upsell me on everything on the menu. I literally just sat down and haven't had the time to glance over the menu yet. Plus, when I was eating my last piece of sushi, the same waiter just came and took my plate before I even put my chopsticks back down, like...what? The food was alright and the best thing was probably the Kumamoto Oysters which was about one dozen for $50. Also the $20 (per piece) Uni in my included picture looked really sad, didn't know until I saw how they came out. Four pieces were already $80 and you could buy a tray full of Hokkaido Uni and be more generous with the portions. However I will say the other staff (Rainie?) was great and accommodating. Spent about $500 with family and was still hungry. Overall, it's one of those experiences where once it goes downhill the little things bother you even more, so it could be better but I'd pass next time. read more

Ordered take out from here yesterday. Wanted to try out this place because I used to love the previous restaurant Allora. I had the spicy yellowtail, hot mama roll, rock shrimp and chicken lo mein. Everything was tasty but the rock shrimp. The rock shrimp had no flavor! What was the flavor suppose to be? Very odd. Usually rock shrimp is very flavorful in other places. My favorite dish was the spicy yellowtail. I definitely will be back to order more and I love how they packaged everything so nicely for take out! read more

We took my cousin here for her birthday today and everything was phenomenal! Tracy was our server and she was very pleasant and helped us order a good variety of food and drink. There was no wait time at all, as we just walked right in(1:30pm or so). Food and drink arrived quickly and was very tasty! in my haste to eat I neglected to take any pics of the food, but I will be going back and will update this review accordingly. I had the $15 Teriyaki Box(sliced chicken breast in a teriyaki glaze and vegetables, spring roll, 4pc California roll, white rice, miso soup and a salad with an Asian vinaigrette - a nice deal for that price!) My other companions had the Land and sea entree and Ocean Treasure entree. I had a bite of the steak off of one of the plates and it was tender, cooked perfectly and delicious. Lobster tail was huge, scallops were a nice size and everything was seasoned well. Trendy, vintage style glass mason jar with handle. Even the water for the table was served in an elegant, long-neck frosted/clear glass bottle. Silverware was gold-plated in a very avant-garde style that I really liked, as did the plates, bowls and dessert dishes. Food temperature was good, and restaurant had a stunning ambience in interior design and music(smooth jazz) very, very nice. Entire wait staff showed up with a delicious chocolate ice-cream dessert with a sparkler to wish my cousin a happy birthday, singing and all! The ice-cream arrived on an onyx slab, like a serious slab! Loved it! All in all, we are COMPLETELY SATISFIED with Mito Asian Fusion, their very attentive and accommodating staff and this new location is proving to already be an asset to the Bay Terrace community even though they only opened a few days ago. As a local I wanted to check out the place on what used to be Tony Roma. You can still see remnants of what it used to be. And it is now Mito - Japanese cuisine. We have the chef special which is the sashimi deluxe. The fish was ok. I couldn't tell what this one type of fish is, with the skin attached and a bit smoked. The waitress calls it my thai - never hear of it. She said it's japanese fish. I have had enough sashimi in my days to know this is not some fancy Japanese fish. There were no saba or octopus on there. I think its the restaurant trying to play off cheap fish as sashimi. I liked my plum wine though, they gave me a shriveled up plum in it. Salmon carpaccio was delicious, wish the portion was bigger. Triple three was good as a specialty roll. Nice ambiance and not too noisy. read more

I just started going here about three months ago and I'm hooked. The service is great and the food is consistent. There is something for everyone. The Oysters are so fresh and delicious-we order them every time we go! There menu is interesting and has a variety of meat and sushi items to choose from. I especially think the sushi is super fresh and I like that the pieces are just the right size. I'm not a fan of giant pieces of sushi. The rolls are generous though.
