The space has been remodeled a bit from the last occupant but it's definitely nice and modern so ambiance isn't lacking here. Food here is an eclectic collection of Asian offerings but its still mostly sushi and Japanese fare. The sushi and fish quality here is pretty good IMHO. Fresh, cut well with well seasoned sushi rice, it was pretty tasty. Rolls here are also good. While I would say that nothing truly stood out as "WOW", all of our food was good. I came to this restaurant with high hopes as my fiancee and I were always talking about trying this place. The restaurant itself is beautiful. The waitress was very friendly and attentive. The appetizers we ordered were amazing. We ordered a dim sum sampler and miso soup. We decided to share an order of beef yaki udon which was also amazing. Everything went south when the main course came out. My fiancee ordered the filet mignon and she wanted it medium, but she got medium rare. Despite this, she had no complaints with hers. I ordered the dry aged ribeye and I wanted mine medium rare. When I got it, I had a medium well steak. When the waitress asked if everything was okay, I showed her the steak and told her that the steak was overcooked. She was polite and said that she would inform the chef. Shortly thereafter, she told me the chef would make me a new steak. The new steak came back to me blue (not even rare, the outside was seared but the inside was raw). She checked in again and I could not help but show her this completely undercooked steak. She took it back to the chef and told me that the chef apparently stated "I don't care." I paid the bill, left a tip, and left. I really was not going to leave this review until she told me what the chef said. I will definitely NOT be coming back to this place and I don't recommend it to anyone. Highly disappointing. Do better Mito. read more

I've already tried this new sushi spot in bay terrace a handful of times for lunch & dinner on weekdays & weekends. The sushi is fresh and tastes good. Prices are more expensive than some sushi spots closer to home but I have always left feeling satisfied and happy. The service is pretty good but can be slow sometimes. The staff are all nice. The dining room is beautiful, especially one corner of the room that is slightly more elegant that the rest of the dining room. I have seem that back corner reserved for a baby shower, but most of the restaurant is casual. Ample free parking. The service at Mito was excellent, the drinks were so good and the food was delicious! The decor was really nice and added to the ambiance. I especially enjoyed the yellowtail jalapeño, toro sushi roll, risotto cheese balls and the chicken. My absolute favorite was the perfectly cooked Chilean Seabass! What ruined our evening was the smooth talking waiter who came over and told us the specials and said he was a sushi chef and they got a fresh delivery of fish that melts like butter in your mouth. I asked him if I could order by the piece since he made it sound so good, I just wanted to try it. He said each order came with 2 pieces. I ordered the 3 pieces he mentioned, i was thinking I'm ordering pieces a la carte and at the most I was looking at was $20. The bill for those pieces came out to $50! I thought the boat was so pretty, but not worth $50! My friend asked if they melted like butter and I said it was fine and I could have done without it, even before seeing the bill. We were ridiculously excited to try this new neighborhood restaurant and we both left feeling swindled. Out night started off on a high note and we left feeling sucker punched. Ever since Allora closed, I had been curious as to how Mito had reimagined the spacious restaurant. Upon visiting for the first time a few weeks ago, the ambiance and decor certainly did not disappoint! It has a modern and luxurious feel, with large windows that let in great natural light during the daytime, and elegant accent furniture. Waitstaff are incredibly kind and attentive, too. The sushi is mid-range quality, so come with the appropriate expectations. Great spot to meet with friends for drinks and a casual lunch/dinner, but not a fine dining experience by any means. First of all, the food was okay, but there were a few issues. The first issue was with the Salmon Teriyaki and the Chicken Teriyaki. They both tasted okay but there was a lack of vegetables, the portion was too small, and there was kind of a lack of sauce too. There was hardly enough brown rice for the amount of food it comes with too. The California Roll was good though and my parents were enjoying it as well. I feel like the price is an issue for me too, the food is way too overpriced and I feel like they should lower the price a little and I have seen other reviews where the price was an issue as well. I don't think I'll come here when the food is at regular price but I probably will when the lunch special is available. The lady who gave us our order was nice though.
