What a wonderful surprise! I wouldn't say that this is an authentic Japanese/sushi experience but more of an Asian fusion. I also can't speak for the rest of the menu but the Prix Fixe menu is a really good deal at $29 as it comes with 4 courses. Add $10 and you can have unlimited cocktails (small selection) for 90 minutes. A no brainer if you're not in a rush. Here are some notable dishes: 1. Mimosa cocktail - very standard but a nice touch. 2. Calamari - different but very tender and tasty. 3. Shishshito peppers - very good. 4. Avocado salad - enjoyed the dressing and a good portion. 5. 3 rolls (shrimp tempura, salmon avocado, tuna avocado) - seemed to be fresh but small pieces. 6. Chicken pad thai - different but was good. 7. Wagyu burger - quite big and delicious. 8. Vanilla mochi ice cream - tasty. 9. fried bananas - seemed to be a crowd favorite. The space is large and clean, and parking is close by and abundant. The service was kind of spotty and some things took forever to come out. This place is pretty decent... maybe I would give my visit tonight 3.5 stars, but I'll give 4 because the ambience is nice. The decor in the main dining room is really cool. It's a Saturday night, the weather today was around 55F, and I had a feeling it was going to be busy here... and it's packed. And this is a big place, too. We were seated quickly though. I stayed with a miso soup, which was decent. My Roasted Goat Cheese Salad was pretty good too... the beet was really crunchy. My daughter got vegetable gyoza and wasn't thrilled. My step mom got the Shrimp Shumai, said it was OK but the shrimp was all shredded and she prefers a whole, wrapped shrimp. OK... My Salmon Avocado roll, Eel Avocado roll and yellowtail scallion roll was good... the yellowtail was exceptional. The wife got the Rapunzel Roll and liked it a lot! Since my daughter wasn't satisfied with her gyoza, she scanned the menu bar code with her phone (teenagers... ugh) and see a photo of a roll with Avocado and Crab and ordered that. When it came out, she was like..."raw fish? Salmon? I didn't want that!" The waiter was like "yes, that's the Alaska Roll!" On the website the Alaska Roll shows a photo of a California Roll. Of course, the restaurant saw the mistake and there was no problem... we got the California Roll to go and they took back the Alaska. We had some Green Tea ice cream and some mango ice cream and they were great. The service was really good, I have to say. Our waiter, Carlos, was a great communicator, and patient. The other staff helped when we had the Alaska Roll issue... even though it took a long time to get our mains from the kitchen, the staff came to make sure we were OK and let us know that the kitchen was deluged and food would be out shortly. My husband Dave brought me here for my birthday. We were greeted and sat immediately upon arrival. Tracy was our server, she was very nice, professional, answered our questions and makes a mean lychee martini! The only bad thing is it seems poor Tracy was the only server for our side of the restaurant and was also running the bar so there were times we had a bit of a wait to order and receive food. My sister, bf and I stopped in here before going to AMC to see a movie. We sat at the bar and was politely greeted by the bartender. We ordered their truffle fries, (10/10) and Wagu Sliders (9/10) and we had A few drinks: Espresso martini (10), Lychee martini (10) and an Apple Mojito (7/10). Every sushi restaurant we go to in great neck, roslyn, plainview gives you tea, plus soup, salad or both. Here you get nothing. Those living locally come here because it's easy to park. This is the same spot of previously Tony Roma's, Allora Italian Restaurant. Decor has drastically changed and very Asian with floating boats and wooden coi fishes raised high in thr ceilings. My review is only based on their catering menu so, please keep that in mind. (Kids menu) Chicken fried rice - large portion, almost adult serving. Flavorful, lots of veggies and well seasoned but nothing special. (Kids menu) Roasted Pork Rib - Chinese-based sauce accompanied with fries. Again, huge portions and not dry with a lot of meat on the bones. Yellowtail Jalepeno appetizer- salty and vinegar but I felt that it was missing a slight sweetness to it. Sushi was not as fresh as I had hoped. Lobster bisque- not sure if this is on the regular menu but it was salty, creamy and a slight sweet finish. Includes a large plumbing shrimp and a side of garlic crustini for dipping. Miso Salad - huge helping of greens, small heirloom and balsamic vinegarette. Ribeye Steak with potato croquette, grilled veggies and side of au jus. A bit too salty and charred for my taste and we requested medium rare but it was well done. Roasted Chicken with same sides accompanied with cream truffle sauce which was seasoned to perfection, Roasted to a crisp and the cream sauce was a perfect richness. Really a fave! If I lived nearby, I may be curious to try their regular menu and the great servers but since I don't, I wouldn't drive 45 minutes to come here again but who knows! I would recommend if you're curious but Flushing has such great real Japanese cuisine but if you want to check out the beautiful decor or hold your next event here, I'd say give it a try! read more

MY NEW FAVORITE RESTAURANT I can't believe I didn't know this restaurant sooner. I have fine dined all around New York City and I can say that some of these dishes were better than Nobu. My boyfriend and I came for a quick bite before a movie and were shocked by how amazing the food was. We started with the salmon sashimi 10 out of 10. The rock shrimp was a perfect sauce for those who love some sweet and spicy. finally, an eel avocado roll with a correct ratio of eel. I've been here twice. The decor is very nice. The hostess has always been pleasant. First time had the brunch on the weekend. Food was great. Visited this place for Mother's Day. They didn't have the brunch special which is weird for Mother's Day, but I'm glad we were able to get a table with no reservation, zero wait time. The hostess was very pleasant. Food was great overall. However and a big however, is the wait staff. This place is 0-2 with the staff. Both times the staff was rude. Yesterday the waiter was very rude, dismissive and unaware. At one point we called him over to place an order for an additional item, when he finally acknowledged the table, he stood in front of the table and literally said "yes?!" Where I had to tell him 3 times what it was. Food is solid, decor is great, but for the price definitely the customer service should be 100 times better. read more

From how the restaurant looks on the outside, my expectations were high maybe a little too high. Upon entering the restaurant we were seated and the server did not mention anything about the Chef's specials or weekly specials that were available. That being said, now mov8ng on to the food. I had the Blue Fin Tuna Tartare and once i mixed the tuna with avocado, the arugula and put them on the chips provided it created a nice bite. It wasn't amazing but it was delightful. Moving on to my second plate, I ordered the Petite Filet Mignon (medium). once it arrived it looked really good but once I took a bite the flavor of the meat was lacking. The sauce that covered it was delicious and the sauce on the potato was also really good but the met lacked salt/seasoning. I was a little disappointed to be honest. The next thing I ordered came from the Chef's Special menu, the Spanish Octopus. While the octopus was cooked well it lacked flavor. The same can be said for the vegetables and potatoes that came with it. It seemed like they were there just to be there, just to fill the plate. For the reasons mentioned above is why I gave 3 stars. I can see these dishes becoming so much more than what was presented to me. So if you want okay food at a moderate price then by all means go and try it for yourself, but don't expect to be amazed. read more

Service is also fast and attentive. - Chef sushi- 12 pieces sushi picked by the chef. fresh and good rice to fish ratio - Yellowtail scallion roll- my go to roll. kind of weird that it came with 6 pieces while my other roll came with 8 pieces. Not sure if this is just the norm - Salmon avocado roll- large pieces of salmon in the roll - Duck roll- really delicious! I would def get this again. The duck was juicy and flavorful and wrapped in a crispy scallion pancake. I personally didn't see the spicy mayo on the bottom of the roll but it was delicious regardless read more

Went here for a team dinner on a Saturday evening. Although the place was not very busy, the ambience and decor was excellent. I ordered some spicy wontons and a sushi roll while others in my group ordered hibachi. Mito was very accommodating of the various requests of my table and the service was far better than expected.
