Came here to try the newer boba spot in Walnut; boba was soft and chewy, but tea was unsatisfactory. We ordered the hojichata and hojicha milk tea at the recommended sugar levels. To start the hojichata was extremely watery, with strong cinnamon flavor, making it taste like cinnamon water. We did not taste hojicha at all. As for the hojicha milk tea, it was more or less the same to the point we thought it was water with boba and hints of hojicha. There are 4-5 thats closed by but those are either boba chain store thats not heavy on quality drinks or too sugary ( ten ren or ding tea ) or the tea from boba place is not that heavy. THIS place, Ming Cha, has some heavy tea taste in at least a few of their options especially their milk teas. I'm in love with their Hojicha milk tea and their oolong milk teas! Highly recommended!! They also have the mango refresher which the mango flavor blends in well with the green tea, you cann taste the tea and mango! The place has a couple self-serve machines where you can order it on yourself or a barista can assist in ordering as well. They recommended 75% sugar so I went with it and the drink itself wasn't sweet at all...:( My boyfriends drink was good though. He ordered hojicha milk tea with barley boba. Came here for the first time for their soft opening and it was pretty good. They have options from milk teas, matcha, pure teas, to hot drinks. I really liked their teas and matcha. Their normal sweet isn't too sweet and drinks didn't have too much ice which I really like. They also measure everything precisely. Just stopped by today to try their mango lassi jasmine tea. I appreciate that their menu has some unique options and that their spin on mango lassi was one of them. I can never get mango lassi outside of an Indian restaurant or grab and go spot in Artesia so thought it was cool that something similar was available. Reason I'm giving it 4 stars is the jasmine tea wasn't that strong. The mango lassi isn't what I'd call traditional (it's more similar to an American lassi that's sweeter and doesn't use the pulp) which is what I was expecting. It's also a thinner drink because it's mixed with jasmine tea. I enjoyed it enough, but wanted to taste a stronger floral flavor. I got it at 75% sweet without boba. At 75% it's sweet, but the aftertaste of the jasmine tea balances it out. Adding boba I think could make it too sweet for some. You order on a kiosk, but staff are upfront willing to help. Service is quick and there's some seating area. It's very minimalist inside so don't bring in a huge group. I saw one person working so there's an outlet, but I didn't inquire about WiFi. Self ordering machines for you to order, pretty easy and quick. I could tell that they do make it from fresh tea as it took some time as there was only 1 customer in front of me. So by the time I got my drink, there was a line for ordering about 7 people, and I waited about 15mins for 2 signature drinks. I got the Mango matcha.....not much to say about it, but I wouldn't order again. Osmanthus oolong with agar....they gave me two thin straws......I was like either they forgot I had agar, or they didn't put it in my drink. So yes agar was in the drink, but wrong straw. No big deal, get the right straw, just pain to have to go down again to get it. Hummm...honest I prefer another place..... Staff and service were really good. FYI-they don't use organic milk so we had to get our drinks with soy milk (due to lactose intolerance). The space is small, but I appreciate the self-order screens for a smoother experience. Service was normal except the staff was kind of chatty while completing orders. We tried the matcha latte with matcha foam and osmanthus oolong milk tea with boba. Both drinks had a weird fruity/tangy taste and felt watered down, possibly because of the "house milk". Lacked creaminess. They tasted very low quality and at a relatively premium price. The matcha foam was fine, though. I came in on a Friday afternoon and used their kiosk to order. I had a short wait until my order was ready. I ordered a jasmine green milk tea with boba and it was really really average. The tea was slightly stronger than most boba places, and the boba was soft with SOME brown sugar flavor, but it overall tasted watered down and not particularly milky. The craziest part was that this drink alone cost me $7.34! I could get tastier drinks at a lower price at Torotea or The Tea. First of all, congratulations to Ming Cha on their grand opening a few days ago! As I was skimming through boba shops / coffee shops in the area that served matcha, Ming Cha popped up on the map. At the time Ming Cha only had 7 reviews and this piqued my interest because it was my first hearing of a new boba shop in Walnut. When I went into the shop, the bright white, modern theme provided a stark difference between the other shops in the building. Also the cashiers / baristas welcomed me as I walked in. There was a wall of polaroid pictures of customers and employees that displayed a sense of community. Like many boba places these days, there were two screens to order your drink. Since, two guests were in line in front of me, the cashiers/ baristas said that they could take my order in person. I ordered the mango matcha latte w/ matcha mousse, 75% sweetness and regular ice. I did wait a little bit for the drink (~15 minutes), but I would factor in that there were two guests in front of me and the store is still in their opening stages. However, it is important to note that the workers were continuously working on the drinks and the drink making process might just take longer than I'm used to. The drink itself is quite tasty. At the first sip, I could taste the freshness of the mango. It is difficult to make the matcha-mango combination work, but there was a good balance. Would come again! read more

I came during their BOGO special around 11:50am before they opened, but left bc the line was not moving by 12:15pm. I however did go back at 6:30pm to see if the line died down. It definitely did so I was glad that I did not wait 2 hours in line and wait an additional 2-3 hours thereafter to receive my drink. We were lucky, they closed the entire ordering for the remaining of the evening after the group behind us so we knew our drinks would be the last few batch that they made. Even though, I ordered my drink in 5 mins, it still took ~2.5 hours to retrieve our drinks at 8:50pm but we knew what to expect since the cashier told us it would take a long time. Here's what I would rate MingCha based on the BOGO day: 5/5 service 4/5 drinks 1/5 ordering process 4/5 ambiance Let me first start by saying the workers worked TIRELESSLY to make all the drinks. There is a lot of improvements for them to make regarding streamlining their ordering/making process more efficient, and I know many people got pissed because I would be too had I had to wait 2 hours to order and another 3 hours for our drinks. But the workers kept their smiles up and still welcomed/greeted all the customers. They were also nice enough to give us some recommendations and answered our questions about their drinks patiently. They were empathetic about the long wait and I think they realized towards the latter half of the day that they would post updates online so people can come back to the store later to pick up their drinks. In terms of managing the crowd and streamlining their process, they def should've prepped beforehand, limit the number of drinks per order/per person, or taken orders ahead of time before opening. The wait to get your drinks should never exceed over 30 mins. This was the worst BOGO crowd I've witnessed. I'm giving them 4 stars because customer service was good and the drinks were good (although they messed up one of our order - they gave us lychee jelly instead of agar boba). My sister and I are avid boba drinkers, and Ming Cha has made a lasting impression on us. Claire was a stand out with her welcoming and kind nature. She informed us of new items they added to their menu as well as offered us samples of their different mousse flavors. They are all AMAZING, fresh and packed with flavor (Mango, Matcha & Ube). Mango Mousse: incredibly fresh & it has a sweetness to it, but definitely not artificial. They must use fresh mango to make this cause it tastes like you bit into the actual fruit. This was my sister's fav. Ube Mousse: many places claim taro as ube, but this is TRUE ube mousse. It has the most beautiful purple hue, and the flavor is soooo good! You can tell they use the actual potato to make this mousse. Matcha Mousse: this one was SO delicious and what I chose to put on my drink. The matcha flavor is potent, yet not overpowering. It almost has a chocolatey taste to it, and I'm here for it. Water Chestnut Boba: I have NEVER seen this at any other boba shop. Claire was kind enough to allow us to try a sample, and it's so interesting. There's actual water chestnut encapsulated inside of a clear boba. The boba pops like a popping boba, but the texture inside of it is viscous? You just have to experience it yourself. Red Bean Boba: again, something I've never seen before! This is similar to the water chestnut boba, where it's encapsulated in that popping boba. Delicious if you like red bean! Jasmine Milk Tea: I really wanted a jasmine matcha, so I added the matcha mousse to it, and let me just say, it's a match made in heaven. The jasmine aroma and flavor is on point. I loved this and will be coming back for another in the very near future. Mango Jasmine Lassi: my sister loved this drink so much! Although it's a milk tea, the natural mango flavor makes the drink refreshing. She did mention that she wished she wouldn't have put the mango mousse on top because it added an additional sweetness to it, so next time she'll be enjoying the drink as is. The storefront is small, but they do have a couple of bar-top tables and a small booth area. They also have some games like Jenga, Connect 4 and a couple deck of cards for those that want to linger a bit longer. If you're debating on whether or not to try Ming Cha out, give it a shot! Best new tea shop in Walnut! Ming Cha is located in the same plaza as Vons on the corner of Lemon and La Puente. They serve teas imported from Japan and Taiwan, and you can taste the freshness. The decor on the inside of the store is minimal and aesthetically pleasing - their logo is so beautiful! There are tables inside for customers to sit and some board games. My favorite drink is the matcha with the matcha topper. The topper is AMAZING. So very good. I also loved the hoji-chata and the mango lassi. The service is friendly and quick. There's a few seats inside and I believe they offer board games available to use. The located in a plaza with plenty of parking. I ordered the mango jasmine lassi, black sesame matcha, strawberry matcha latte, and double matcha. I tried the highland barley boba and water chestnut boba. Anyways the Strawberry Matcha Latte has WAYYYY too much Ceremonial Grade Matcha (Good and Bad thing) and barely any strawberry puree to balance the bitterness and sweetness. The matcha foam on the other hand is top notch. I also got the Mango Lassi Jasmine Green Tea Latte and it was pretty mellow. It was hard to taste the Jasmine and Green Tea, but the Mango was also really mellow too. So basically the Mango hits first and it was like a watered down mango and then the Jasmine Green Tea hit after and I got lost looking for the taste where I had to get a few more sips to lock onto the flavors... Now the lids... I've never dealt with this, but the lids are tooo big and pop out with any pressure applied to the cup. I spilled the drinks inside the shop and outside. Also when I was driving away I saw someone also pop their lid on their car. I'm in love! But I'll admit, this place might not be for everyone. Personally, I think Ming Cha really shines when you order your drinks at 0% sugar. Let me explain. Here's what I've tried: - White Peach Oolong, 0% Sugar, Regular Ice, Highland Barley Boba, Cheese Foam: This is my favorite drink here! Super refreshing, smooth flavor, and the cheese foam adds just the right creamy richness. I'm obsessed with the barley boba. It has a nice pop, chewy texture, and that nutty grain flavor I love. If you're into the Peach Oolong Milk Tea at Molly Tea, this one tastes nearly identical. - Thai Milk Tea, 25% Sweet, Less Ice, House Milk: This one was definitely disappointing. Heavy on the milk, light on the Thai tea. I was hoping for that signature warming spice that you'd expect in Thai tea, but it just wasn't there. -- I've also tried to order the Thai Milk Tea on a revisit with a request for more tea and less milk, which they happily obliged. It was slightly better, but it was still quite milky and the tea, warming spices, vanilla flavors were still barely noticeable. - Hojicha Milk Tea, 0% Sugar, Less Ice, House Milk, Water Chestnut Boba: Delicious. Zero sugar is really where this place shines so that you can actually taste the tea. I'm sugar sensitive, and the way they blend their teas works perfectly for folks like me. You don't get that oversteeped bitterness that tea places brew to compensate for the milk and sweetener. The brown sugar boba was tasty, with great texture and flavor, but added a ton of sweetness. It was good, but I couldn't quite distinguish the hojicha or horchata flavors.
