I've been eating at Mimi's periodically for many years. Generally speaking the food is excellent and reasonably priced. Over the years it has consistently produced the best French onion soup aside from a high end steakhouse or home made. Tonight was a horrible meal and value. The French onion soup just had an entire rock hard bread roll thrown in the soup. The portion size was about half the normal amount of vegetables, 4 small shrimp and less vegetables in the jambalaya as well as salmon entree. When I called the restaurant the manager told me if I wanted to return he would make another bowl of soup and that was the only offer made. I declined making a 15 minute return trip for a bowl of soup. No other remedy was offered. I told him everything mentioned above and said I would rather not return in the future and he wished me a good evening. I imagine this type of business practice is why other Mimi's restaurants continue closing around the valley. $51 for this meal was an awful decision. read more

Was quite shocked to see how old and run down this restaurant looks like and management has done nothing to upgrade it. Food quality was all right but not as fancy as other modern places. Service was also sluggish and very rushed as only 2 servers serving the entire area. Hibachi salmon tasted just okay. Roast chicken was better and sides like spinach and baked potato were good but not spectacular. Mimi's needs to invest some money and upgrade this place as it's really outdated and not kept up with the times. read more

Passed this location several times and super excited to inside since a lot of the locations have closed in the valley in past years. I walked in and right away smelled a NASTY smell and the decoration style was RUN DOWN really bad. I was shocked to see this place has not been updated since probably the day they opened. I had no choice since I was short on time to just give it a try. The sever was very nice and fast but then I looked around was shocked to see how bad this place was looking and for the North Scottsdale location I thought maybe Mimi's Cafe would invest some money into this place I guess not! My first visit here, and the food was okay. Asked for my eggs over easy, however they were more medium/hard. Also, the potatoes were warm, but lacked much taste. Just plain potatoes. You can add peppers/onions for a fee, which is annoying. My "toast" was not very toasted and cool. The coffee and service was really good. I personally would not go back, nor was it my first choice. I was with a small group and I went with the flow. I'll be more vocal in the future. read more

We had an amazing visit at the Mimi's in California so gave this one a chance. At this location, the server and food was good. We had the avocado chicken ciabatta and hamburger. The hamburger's bottom bread piece was soggy from grease but the rest of it was tasty. Also, had two muffins as appetizer. We had the pumpkin and pineapple upside down muffin. So delish! I was sad to see they went away with the bread and muffin basket they used to give to patrons. The last thing I'd like to point out are the bathrooms. There was a terrible sewer smell in the bathrooms. The toilet handles and facets need a desperate renovation as they were green and bubbling with fluids. That smell made me nauseous as I hurried out of there. Not sure I'd ever return unless the bathroom sewage situation was resolved. read more

2nd time at Mimi's. This time I get to experience the full experience cause last time it was at a baby shower. You can book events here like baby, bridal showers and etc. We ordered the trio appetizers it comes with 4 pieces of fried chicken strips, 4 or so pieces of zucchini sticks, and tortilla chips with spinach artichoke dip. Everything is good. They bring you complementary french bread & banana bread with butter. I ordered the Mimi's ribeye steak, it comes with 2 sides. I chose mash potatoes & broccoli. It was really good & flavorful. My brother ordered the roasted turkey club. It was like a blt sandwich. With 3 pieces of toast & tukey, bacon & cheese(cheese is extra.) Inside it's a big place. Good social distancing at tables and servers are wearing masks. The food is still going ok. The turkey club used real turkey (maybe too thick),but the lettuce was dark green style with no crunch. Hands down the best breakfast I have had in ages! The eggs were cooked perfect, my husband's omelet was filled to the brim with vegetables, and the cappuccino was better than Starbucks. We stopped here for breakfast on a whim since we were at Desert Ridge. I ordered ham and eggs, my husband got chicken and waffles. He also ordered an iced mocha. He said the mocha was horrible. I thought my eggs were runny and had a weird texture to them. The ham wasn't that stellar, potatoes were ok. I had a chocolate chip muffin that was delicious! We used To be regulars but no longer . The first thing that kind of stunned us were the big signs requesting that you pay in cash which is all fine and good however it appeared very desperate as they were everywhere. It appeared that the interior had not been cleaned or vacuumed in sometime and everything looked old and uncared for. Then we received our food and that too was not the quality we used to receive at Mimi's restaurant. To say it was disappointing is truly an understatement. I ordered quiche which I used to get there every time but this appeared to have come from the frozen food section of the grocery store. Originally I wanted to go to another restaurant but my husband said he's heard great things about Mimi's, so we took a chance unfortunately I can't say it was the best decision. Upon arrival no one was up front so we weren't sure if we should seat ourselves or wait. The server finally appeared and seated us we ordered and although the place looks nice their food is FAAAAAAAR from that. I ordered chicken and waffles. We both did actually with a side of potato's. We had our coffee in the mean time while we waited (coffee was the only my thing that was good). Our ordered arrived and my waffles were burned not only could we smell the food burning in the back but the actual audacity to serve what was burned was baffling. I cut into it and the waffle broke apart instantly. My husband looked at his potatoes they were also burned and very over salted but you could taste the bitterness once something has been burnt no seasoning will save it... I asked the server if she could take it back and explained it was burned she agreed and had a second plate sent. My question is how does a "Great restaurant" fuck up waffles not one but twice. The second plate the waffles were still raw in the middle and the chicken has a weird taste . We didn't bother eating. I asked for the check and the server looked at the plate still full with all the food asked "did you not like it?" I explained what the issue was and although the food was not good the server said ok don't worry about it and took the food luckily we didn't pay for this disaster of a meal so I'll give them 3 stars for customer service. No matter the location, I knew the name & reputation of the restaurant meant it was going to be good fare and kind and warm restaurant staff. Unfortunately, that wasn't my experience today. Lived down the street from this location for years and hadn't stopped in until recently with the family. With two toddlers, the kids menu is important to us and they seemed to have a good one. My two daughters enjoyed the waffles and mac n' cheese selections, which came with a fun "dirt cup" dessert. My soup and sandwich lunch combo was great, and my wife enjoyed her omelette. Service was friendly and attentive. Decor was cozy, with fun paintings and a pleasant ambiance. My wife commented that we will need to return and add this place to our rotation. Sorry to leave a bad review, but just very disappointed. Ordered an omelet yesterday morning for breakfast. The egg was scorched, and all the ingredients were served on top of the omelet, rather than used as the filling. It was very, very bland and eggy. Visited MImi's mid-morning on a Sunday. I started by ordering a hot hazelnut latte which I hoped to order dairy-free, but there were no alternatives milk options available. I ordered an omelet which comes with toast but there were no gluten free side options available, other than a cup of fruit which cost a dollar more. I used to come here years ago for a Sunday brunch which was very good. We were in the neighborhood around dinner time on a weekday and dropped in. They had 1 guy who was the host/waiter/busboy/bartender - everything but the cook. But, the place only had 3 tables occupied and I had to wonder why. Then I got our food and I found out why. I got a chicken parm pasta dish. The chicken was a bit overcooked, the sauce on the chicken and the pasta was bland and the pasta was overcooked. My dining partner got the French Pot Roast. I think it arrived fresh out of the microwave. It's not that it was bad, it was just blah. and the veggies were overcooked. For dessert we got the bread pudding which was cold in the middle - I mean like it didn't defrost enough kinda cold and we got the lava cake. Not much lava and the chocolate was really bitter.
