This place was great!! My husband and I were traveling and just wanted a good diner to go to. I believe our servers name was Enrique (forgive me if that's incorrect it was a long day of travel) Enrique was so friendly! When we first walked the place had a very cozy atmosphere. We had a reservation for 1:00 PM on Mothers Day. It was made a week in advance and confirmed by the restaurant. When we arrived at 1:00 PM, there were dozens of people waiting. Even parties who had reservations at 12:15 PM were still waiting. I understand that Mothers Day is a busy day for restaurants, but there seemed to be some breakdown in the organization. There was very little communication to the people waiting about what the plan was or how long it would take. We ended up going to another restaurant. read more

Back around 2019-2020 I used to eat here about twice a month and, back then, the service and food was fantastic. I moved out of state and just came back today (March 1, 2026) and things have seriously changed. Let's start with the service. My wife and I walked in and stood in the entryway for a solid seven minutes without even being acknowledged. I finally walked over to the bar and asked a server if they were closed for a private party or something. He assured me they were open for business. Eventually a blonde woman with a blue streak in her ponytail who seemed VERY unenthusiastic (frankly, she seemed high as a kite) put us on a waiting list and told us it was about a 20 minute wait. We went outside to our car for 12 minutes and came back in and she had already skipped over us. We witnessed at least a dozen people walk out after they realized they would be waiting a looooooong time to be seated. We finally got seated and got some drinks fairly quickly but waited 24 minutes for our food to arrive after we ordered. The food was fine but nothing to write home about. Our waiter was a good guy who tried his best. For future reference, know that the first impression of Mimi's on a Sunday afternoon is not good. People should be greeted within 30 seconds of walking in the door, NOT forced to stand and wait for seven minutes to even be acknowledged. Little miss blue streak in her hair has no business being the face that eventually greets you when she gets around to it. She clearly hates her job and it shows. Mimi's is a convenient breakfast place for a few of us to meet up on weekends. It's hard to mess up breakfast and I have to say that we have always had stellar service and the food has been good. I'm a creature of habit, so the brioche pancakes are my go-to meal. Last time I even added a peach bellini! The prices are reasonable and, since it is a little quieter than some of the other local establishments, you can actually carry on a conversation. read more

Service was good. Our waitress was very attentive and had a great personality. However, your restaurant needs a deep cleaning. Carpet is separating and probably beyond cleaning. Needs to be replaced. Some of your chairs are in need of repair. Tables need to be refinished. And both seats are terribly dirty. Back of seats are extremely dirty. Bathrooms need an upgrade. My guess is that the kitchen is in the same condition. The Mimi's in Glendale seems to be in the same condition. You had a nice set up and great menu, but in the past few years management has shown no pride in the appearance of the dining room. Not to mention the bar, which should have more business than it does. Your business would do a lot better if your customers could feel pride in the business. read more

It was so nostalgic coming back here since the Mimi's Cafe in awhatukee closed years back. I got the grilled cheese and tomato soup and it was SPOT ON. The service was almost nonexistent. We waited 15 minutes for a server to take our orders. I ordered the eggs benedict, and my wife ordered the TRIO. We waited twenty-five minutes for our order to arrive. This was the worst and most tasteless order odder of Eggs Benedict I have ever had anywhere. My wife ordered the TRIO and likewise her meal was just as bad as mine. The food was so bad that we both could not finish our meals. The service polite but lacking in real customer focused service. I'm surprised they're in business. I've never seen such poor service combined with poor food. We ordered burgers and a French dip. Nothing fancy and no special requests. It took over 40 minutes for our food to come out and never once did someone come and ask us if we wanted drink refills. Nothing. The burger (ordered medium well) was as raw and cold. We made a reservation for 1030 for Mother's Day. We ended up waiting 35 minutes to sit. The restaurant needs a good clean. It is so dirty, dusty and just in need of some love on the inside. They do not have enough people working so the service was slow. Would not recommend the crab cake Benedict it was horrible. My husband got the breakfast tacos and said they were nothing to write home about. My son got pasta and he liked that. My daughter's scrambled eggs were dry, like they had been sitting for a while. The Mother's Day Reservations were a catastrophe. When we arrived 15 mins early for a 10:30am reservation we stood in line for 20+ minutes just to confirm the registration in which I was informed people from 9:45/10am had yet to be seated. There was one girl who was working the host stand without a manager in sight. She was checking people in, seating tables and all while dealing with very disappointed and frustrated customers. She should have not been alone up there to fend for herself, the management team clearly lacks presence and support to their team especially on a holiday rush. The staff were stressed, disappointed and exhausted but yet no support was to be found. Despite the wait we chose to stay and were seated at 11:40. Once sat we were informed that breakfast was over and only the Mother's Day specials were offered. No food outside this very odd and unappealing menu were able to be ordered now that it had passed 11am. Extremely disappointed, we chose to leave and go somewhere else. What was supposed to be an enjoyable and nostalgic experience turned into a terrible experience in which we will never choose to visit this place again. read more

Well, well, well. I have not been to Mimi's Café in years. I had breakfast here - 21001 N. Tatum Blvd. Wow! Excellent service; my waiter Enrique was courteous, attentive, and efficient. I ordered the Spinach Artichoke Omelet, and it was delicious. I also had the carrot raisin nut muffin (I wanted the pineapple upside down, but those muffins were still baking). So fresh it tasted like a carrot cake. I did not take a picture because I wolfed it down so quickly. ;-) While eating, a man (may have been the chef or manager ) stopped by the table and said the item was new and wanted to see how it was. Ha! My empty plate said it all. Also, try the Grilled Peach Griddlecake. Two breakfast orders with coffee (before tax) hit right under $40.00. The restaurant could use a refresh on the seats/booths; it's a bit worn. The lighting over my table was clean, but a few spots on the ceiling. I noticed some cobwebs on the lights near the restaurant's center. A good cleaning would take care of that in a jiff. read more

The bread is awesome here, warm and served with butter. I like the tender ribeye steak but there are a lot of good choices on the diverse menu. Breakfast is good also. Relaxed atmosphere here. Another BIG mistake. Both meats lacked flavor and were of the pressed meat type. Au Jus for French Dip was SO SALTY I couldn't use it. Salad was a pile of Romaine Lettuce with two hard croutons and two cherry tomatoes, Ranch dressing lacked any flavor too. With one Ice Tea and one water, bill was over $40. Save your Money go somewhere else. No wonder the place was lacking in customers too! read more

Hit up Mimi's Cafe location on North Tatum Ave at opening time and had the place to ourselves. Our waitress Kathy was very friendly & sweet and took excellent care of us throughout the meal. Two of us had the Pain Perdu Grande stuffed french toast accompanied by 2 eggs & ham. Excellent flavor on the french toast. The whipped cream cheese filling gave a very smooth & creamy mouth feel to the dish. The eggs were fried over hard, as ordered, but not to the point of being tough. Ham slice was thick & large enough to make its presence known and the meal substantial. Coffee was pretty ordinary, i.e. tasted okay & had caffeine. A somewhat lighter breakfast of a mushroom, bacon, & brie omelette with home fries and toast that a dining partner ordered looked good. Decor was a rustic motif and there was plenty of seating in a couple dining areas from what I saw. Price was about in line with typical Phoenix prices. I would easily choose to eat at this Mimi's Cafe again, no problem. read more

I hadn't been to Mimi's since high school maybe? Which would've been like 15 years ago! It looks exactly the same as the last time I was here, doesn't look like they really updated anything! My husband was wanting a night time breakfast meal and I wanted a grilled cheese, this was somehow the only place nearby that had both! My husband got eggs, bacon, and toast, bacon extra crispy (they pulled through on that got him!), and fries. He liked it! I got the grilled cheese with corn chowder soup. Soup was very thick, a tiny bit congealed on top but not bad. I still thought the flavor was good! Grilled cheese was tasty, it was on like garlic bread it tasted like, yum! It was a tiny bit soggy on one side though. My husband and I liked the very crispy fries. Only one server and there were two bigger groups before us still there. So service was understandably a bit slow but she was doing her best and was very nice and good about checking in on us. May have to come back again and not in another 15 years haha. read more

I've been eating at Mimi's periodically for many years. Generally speaking the food is excellent and reasonably priced. Over the years it has consistently produced the best French onion soup aside from a high end steakhouse or home made. Tonight was a horrible meal and value. The French onion soup just had an entire rock hard bread roll thrown in the soup. The portion size was about half the normal amount of vegetables, 4 small shrimp and less vegetables in the jambalaya as well as salmon entree. When I called the restaurant the manager told me if I wanted to return he would make another bowl of soup and that was the only offer made. I declined making a 15 minute return trip for a bowl of soup. No other remedy was offered. I told him everything mentioned above and said I would rather not return in the future and he wished me a good evening. I imagine this type of business practice is why other Mimi's restaurants continue closing around the valley. $51 for this meal was an awful decision. read more

Was quite shocked to see how old and run down this restaurant looks like and management has done nothing to upgrade it. Food quality was all right but not as fancy as other modern places. Service was also sluggish and very rushed as only 2 servers serving the entire area. Hibachi salmon tasted just okay. Roast chicken was better and sides like spinach and baked potato were good but not spectacular. Mimi's needs to invest some money and upgrade this place as it's really outdated and not kept up with the times. read more
