I always have a great time at Foley Ranch, though I am very upset about Steve in the black shirtless shirt not being there, place is not the same without him. I always really enjoy dancing with him. He is a great member of the dancing community. I can not imagine him being aggressive, he is always very polite and a great dancer. I have never seen him grabbing anyone, he is just politely asking to dance like everyone does. read more

I'm giving a 5 star review because I've always had a great time at Foley Ranch! Food, service and music are always great. That's the good. The bad is in my opinion, how poorly this incident with sleeveless Steve was handled. I've been dancing over 35 years, I currently have a very large dance group in the Phoenix Metropolitan area called Honky Tonk Dancerz. I bring a lot of people to Foley Ranch to enjoy the food, the great Service and the ambience of the country western music and great dance floor to dance on. Over the past several months I've gotten a chance to get to know Steve and I find him very pleasant, very kind to the lady he dances with and respectful. He is a product of the new style of country swing, that you have your instructors teach this style on Thursday nights. In my opinion, there is a lack of instruction on Dancefloor etiquette and feeling the music, by that I mean, actually dancing to the music, not alongside of it. Steve dances as he was instructed by the instructors that you bring on the dance floor and teach new dancers how to dance. Steve dances exactly like all the other new dancers dance. If you have a problem with Steve and the way he dances, then you have a problem with all the other people that have been instructed by the instructors that you bring to Foley Ranch. And in regard to the comment that was made by Dan B, where Steve grab the arm of a lady and drug her to the dance floor, that's BS and that is never happened. Like other people have said in comment and in Steve's defense women can say no and that's their prerogative. If they don't like the way he's dancing with them on the dance floor then they need to open their mouth and tell him to take it easy I don't like the way you're dancing or I'm not gonna dance with you again. It's very obvious that Dan B and his group are not part of the dance community like Steve and many others that have commented in Steve's defense. Last weekend, I spoke with Garcia the floor manager and introduced myself and the concerns that I had when I heard about Steve being 86. I asked a lot of other dancers in the dance community, what their thoughts were on this. Some have already commented on here. And I feel it's my obligation to the dance community to do so also. Alrighty, so I have really only been in for the dancing and girls night out for dancing and drinking but after the Scottsdale rodeo I told my hubby we are coming because I finally want to try the food lol We got sat immediately right before the rush which was cool and got our drinks! Hubs got the cherry old fashion which he didn't care for but the normal old fashion he enjoyed, and I got the foley ranch tea which is my go to here! We shared the corn bread hush puppies and those were just amazing! They were not oily and were the perfect taste of cornbread and the honey drizzle was nice but not too sweet. We each got some bbq meats he got brisket and the ribs with Mac. Sadly the Mac was on the verge of being cold but still tasted good. His ribs were so damn good! The bark and smoked flavor were truly impressive. I go brisket and when I asked for lean cuts I was informed there would be no guarantee but I was happy to see lean cuts when it came out! We loved our brisket as well and really appreciated the flavors. I love the homemade chips with mine and while they're just chips they were enjoyable. The bonus to the evening was the dueling guitars which I loved! Plus the swing dance lesson to join in on and the line dance lesson. A simple dinner turned into a fun evening which I appreciate. The service was good and the atmosphere was really fun -- definitely a lively spot with great energy. The line dancing and overall vibe make it a great place to grab drinks and hang out. Unfortunately, the food fell short for us. I ordered the baked potato and it was barely warm. My son had the beef roast, and we weren't fans of the barbecue sauce. The ranch dressing was also very salty with a strong dill flavor, which wasn't to our taste. I've been to Foley Ranch Boots & BBQ three times. Twice for drinks and once for food. Located in Desert Ridge Marketplace right next to BJ's Brewhouse, you won't have trouble finding free parking in the large lot that surrounds the entertainment complex. Ambiance (4.5/5): If you're into country bars, you're going to like Foley Ranch. I'm from Texas so Foley reminds me of home, which is always a nice feeling. As you walk in, they will check your ID and then there's a hostess stand. There's a long bar with a decent amount of seating that takes you to the main room where you have booths, high tops, and a large stage. They often have live music on the stage. And twice a week, there's free line dancing lessons. There's a dance floor where you can two-step. If you're into country music, you'll enjoy all that Foley Ranch has to offer. Drinks (4/5): They have a full bar so there's an extensive menu. With it being a country bar, I'd recommend a beer or a cocktail that has tequila. If you're not drinking alcohol, they have sweet tea (always a nice touch). They also have a solid happy hour with specials on both drinks and food, as well as a reverse happy hour. Food (3/5): This is where things fall of a bit in my mind. On my most recent visit, I had their loaded baked potato with brisket. The baked potato comes with cheese, sour cream, green onions, and BBQ sauce. With my Texas roots, I have a high standard when it comes to BBQ. The baked potato was smaller than I expected. And the brisket was mediocre at best. If you've had brisket from top BBQ joints in Texas and you compare it to Foley Ranch's, you'll see a stark difference. It wasn't bad, but given the portion size, and the price, I was expecting more. Especially since it's marked on their menu as one of their signature dishes. We sat at the bar and unfortunately had already eaten, however just the smell of the bbq food was very enticing. We will have to be back to try the food as well. The bartenders are very fun and attentive. My party ordered the old fashioned, Foley peach tea, and smoked pineapple margarita. I LOVED the smoked pineapple margarita - perfect for anyone who likes sweet-tasting piña colada drinks. Only downside is that live music came on around 6/7 pm, and while it was amazing, it was also a little loud, so maybe not the best place to invite important conversations (lol). I always love popping in here! Great layout, very spacious. Love the community table by the dance floor. Bar visibility to the stage is a bit awkward but otherwise great! Was in the mood for some bbq but unfortunately this didn't really do it for me. Grabbed some takeout from Foley and was a bit underwhelmed with what I got. Ordered a 3 meat combo, with slaw, added an extra side of cornbread hush puppies, along with 2 sweet teas and a wedge salad. All of that came to almost $60 which I would have been fine with if not the portion sizes being a bit small. The highlights were the ribs, pulled chicken, and hush puppies. Loved the smoke flavor and seasoning blend on the ribs. Had a nice bite to it as well. The hush puppies were delicious too. Even though the ribs were good, the pulled pork was disappointing. We definitely got the fat end of a roast as half the container of pork was all the fatty pieces. There was no flavor to the pork at all and it was really watery for some reason. The wedge salad was not great either. Great size salad but the blue cheese dressing lacked any real flavor and had no blue cheese taste at all. read more

The portions were honestly SO small and yet the pricing was very expensive, especially considering the size of everything. The three meats were more like an appetizer at best. The pork had no taste and was so watery. The chicken was a bit better, but again, no real barbq taste. The ribs, however, were the star of the show! Tender and very flavorful. We've wanted to try this place for awhile being big fans of BBQ and having eaten plenty during our eight years living in Dallas, but unfortunately Foley Ranch turned out to be very disappointing. My wife and I had lunch here during AZ Restaurant Week and ordered the two meat plate with brisket and sausage and the half rack of ribs. Sides of hush puppies and green beans. We started with a wedge salad and sourdough bowl of chili. All the meats were dried out and lacking flavor. The brisket was flavorless and didn't have a smoke ring that I would expect. The ribs were burnt to a crisp, the first bite was full of burnt fat that tasted like meat that had been subjected to flames for way too long and no seasoning. Neither had any real Bar-B-Q taste. The sausage was dry! The green beans were mushy like they had been in the pot a few hours too long. The chili was okay but not great. The hush puppies and wedge were both very good. Unfortunately, overall a sad experience and not what I would call a worthwhile barbecue restaurant. One person who made a big difference early on was Sleeveless Steve. He was not only one of the first to welcome me, but also someone who helped me learn to dance with confidence, always treating me with kindness and respect. We went to Foley Ranch for dinner and live music. They don't take reservations same day. Which is fine. We just showed up about 630 and live. Music was already playing. It was a really cool western saloon vibe with big huge TVs all around which my husband loved so he could watch the Cardinals game It was absolutely packed. We got a great table close to the dance floor we ordered The meat plates, the sliders, ribs burgers we all ordered rounds of drinks. We had an amazing server very attentive and I have to say the vibe was very good. We had such a great time listening to the live music and the people there were very lighthearted and it just seemed like a great light positive vibe. My husband and I love the country dance and This venue will have live music until 9 o'clock, and then it turns into a line dancing extravaganza. And that's where the younger crowd comes in and takes over the dance floor for line dancing. Which is fantastic because I love line dancing, and they will show you how to do the new Line dancing currently on the dance floor. So the food was good my niece said that her ribs were dry, that made me sad because I do love a nice rib. The macaroni and cheese was a bit watery. It was kind of odd. But my meat plate was delicious. I love the different styles of barbecue sauce . Very dingy and delicious. My husband had the burger and he said it was very good. The french fries were delicious. They had a really great seasoning on my niece said the sliders were really spicy, but I like spicy so, I don't know if she wasn't aware they were going to be a spicy barbecue sauce. As i was leaving the owner saw me and asked to chat, he was deeply apologetic for the slow service and offered to comp my next rib meal and then handed me his business card. I truly appreciate this extra attention and told him that I would be back. I have been following the Facebook and insta of this place waiting for it to open, I finally made it out this way. The atmosphere is so laid back and gives that great chill country mood. The food was good especially the brisket and the pulled chicken , potato salad was stellar! Smoked chicken wings were tasty and the wedge salad was great. We also ordered a brisket sandwich it was a no go it was a burnt end sandwich overly salty and greasy we had to send it back. It was not the brisket that was on the meat plate. I think it's very sad that a person is 86 from a place for doing something he loves, it's very easy to just say no Thankyou! I have danced there for the past year with many different people. If I find a person to be tough with me I just no longer dance with them! Sounds like a simple solution, use your words and use them tactfully and kindly! I think a conversation would be more appropriate over expulsion! I love going to foleys, the staff is friendly and efficient. One thing I do not care much for is the room is not read very well! During a busy time I think after the 1 st music set is completed! The chairs on the dance floor should be removed, when there are a lot of dancers on the floor which is most Friday nights! My only complaint is that I ordered the crispy chicken sandwich and I was expecting a chicken breast but instead it was 3 chicken strips- made it hard to eat. So much so that I just ate it as strips and not a sandwich. Service was helpful and attentive until the end when we wanted another round of drinks, so instead of another round we just decided to pay. Ive been back four times and have ordered different items each time. EVERYTHING IS DELICIOUS. The most unexpected items were the fries. If you are a fry connoisseur, you need to try the fries here. Perfectly crispy but still fluffy, with a tasty seasoning. Also, the hush puppies are a must try! The ambiance during our visits is my kind of perfect. Its usually dead inside; like were the only table. One time there was another table. But usually dead. The tables are placed around a giant dance floor with fun lights and a bunch of tv's. Thursday happy hour was alot less crowded than Friday happy hour. Found a spot at bar and got $1 off my two beers. The girls wear flannel and they have live music at 5pm on weekdays. The main jig is barbecue, but appetizers are $3 off during HH. Tried the deep fried macaroni and cheese and my order came with both bbq sauces,not just the red one mentioned on the menu. My husband and son joined me at Foley Ranch for a Sunday lunch. I really like the layout of the restaurant, you would never know it was formerly a Sweet Tomatoes! Plenty of room for stage and dance floor with high top tables and booths all around. Great decor, excellent modern country music selection and staff is very outgoing and friendly. We were seated in a booth indoors by our choice, but the tables on the patio near the fire looked awesome. Our server greeted us promptly and took drink orders, which someone else delivered to the table after a long wait. We wanted to order a couple of appetizers but they were out of the fried mac and cheese and the bacon wrapped jalapenos. The server was quite apologetic and said if the mac and cheese was ready before we left she would bring us a sample. It was not. We ordered the smoked chicken wings, a serving of eight plump wings for $16.99 which was not a great value. The wings didn't taste smokey to me at all, although my husband said he could taste the smoke. They were not crunchy, but cooked through. Not tender, like slow smoked meat would be. They were served with thinly shaved celery and a ranch-ish dressing that was pretty tasty. The honey hickory BBQ sauce was pretty ordinary, I wish my son had ordered the spicy for the wings. When we ordered our meals we did not get offered a choice of BBQ sauces, and so I never did get to try the spicy one! I ordered the brisket plate with creamed corn and country style green beans. Husband also ordered the brisket with the cowboy beans and the potato salad. Son ordered a half rack of ribs with hush puppies and french fries. The waitress was sure to tell us that the French fries stay warm for up to 30 minutes and are fluffy inside like mashed potatoes with a barbecue seasoning on the outside. I will start with the French fries, which everyone loved. The seasoning was more like Cool Ranch Doritos seasoning, and these were narrow wedge fries cooked very crispy and certainly delicious and fluffy inside. The half rack of ribs is a very meaty portion, however they are not tender. They do not fall off the bone. You have to gnaw them off the bone, and even then the meat is chewy and even a bit dry. It is a generous half rack, and my son didn't finish it all after his six wings so that says something! The hush puppies were three large fried cornbread balls with a side of a quite delectable honey butter. Although I did not try them they looked to be great and got no complaints from the giant teenager. The brisket plate came with about half and half fatty and lean brisket. Some places offer you a choice, and I usually choose the lean style at most restaurants, but that would have been a grave mistake here. The fatty brisket was excellent, tender and moist. The lean brisket was dry, brown, overdone and chewy. The barbecue sauce couldn't save this meat. The side dishes I chose were creamed corn (which wasn't very creamy and was roasted corn with maybe a splash of mayo or heavy cream. Edible but not special. The green beans were clearly fresh as four beans still had inedible stems attached. They were cooked with a little piece of pork fat and had a nice flavor, but they were extremely mushy and not an attractive shade of green anymore. I would love to see a sweet potato fries side dish option!! My husband fared a little better with his side dishes on his brisket plate. He raved and raved about the cowboy beans which had a little bit of a spicy bite, and were cooked until soft and creamy. The potato salad looked to be red potatoes and was clearly very freshly prepared and tasted like homemade. He ate them all. Our server was very attentive and kept up with the many RC cola refills required by my thirsty men. She tried to sell us on the mason jar desserts because we could take them with us and keep the jar, but we were stuffed and had already spent over $90 on one appetizer, three entrees and two sodas. She processed the check pretty promptly, and invited us back. BBQ is never cheap, but the Desert Ridge Marketplace is also the high rent district and prices reflect that. Personally I will come check out the drinks at the bar and the great country music. But I don't think you'll get the rest of my family to return, because the four stars in this review were solely based on side dishes and service, and not the slow smoked, tender barbecued meats that should be the heart and soul of any barbecue restaurant. I would have liked the BBQ sauce I little more spicy hot. It was all too mild for me

Great table service, band, and French fries. Food not so much - cold, runny and fatty pulled pork, and little flavor to the potato salad. Cole slaw was oddly spicy! Good spot if you want to 2 step or line dance. Be prepared for loud music. read more
