Came here for a little staycation with my family and decided we didn't wanna leave the hotel so we picked 26 for dinner. I'm gonna give three stars because the service was great at the bar and the server was attentive outside and quick although she didn't know the menu well. I ordered the cheese plate to split with my children and no one knew what was on it when I asked, but I was later informed that I got a tomato jelly and honey mustard as the sauces. To me a $30 cheese plate would not come with a container of honey mustard so I was not impressed. When I asked what cheeses were on it they told me there was 2 different cheddars. There was no way it was a cheddar it was a very soft cheese. I believe it was a goat cheese. The almonds were probably the best part of the whole platter. My husband got wings, which were very big. He enjoyed those and the sauce, and my other daughter got meatballs, which she enjoyed, but thought they were a little spicy, I find that usually when kids order things that are spicy servers will say just so you know that has a little bit of heat to it to which the waitress did not again, I don't think she was very knowledgeable on the menu in general . For the type of hotel twenty6 was kinda of major let down. Definitely will pass on the next visit. read more

Twenty6 lounge is the bar in the lower lobby of @jwdesertridge and is a casual spot for resort guests, or a couple on a mini date night. We each enjoyed a couple of drinks while chatting about life. Sitting at the bar was quick service and quiet, but you can also relax in a plush patio chair out in the courtyard. I was here for a conference. The bar was a huge hangout for everyone! I had a few drinks here. The service was always good. One day when I was hungry and I'd already eaten at Tia Carmen's twice and Kembara was still closed and the Meritage was having a private event, I decided to order something from the bar. I ordered a chicken Cesar salad and it was really good! My waiter was so nice! He was super busy but always very sweet! The menu is very limited but when there's nowhere else to go... The next night we ordered a charcuterie board to share before dinner. It was good, but I did not like the blue cheese-looking cheese. It's very strong, smelly, and gave me bad breath. This bar is located off the lobby in the JW Marriott! When conferences are in session, the lobby bar is super busy and loud! Hard to hear people sitting or standing across from you. The bar is located on the bottom floor, below lobby entrance. You can order at the bar or through a server at a table. My husband and I went here last night for a drink cause I'd never been to this hotel before and I wanted to see it! I ordered a desert flower drink, it had gin and elderflower. Was extremely strong, as gin drinks often are haha. My husband got a beer. One of the bartenders was telling us how they had their 20th anniversary of being a hotel soon so some limited menu drinks were being made! He had us try one of the drinks. It was like a Paloma with mezcal, one of my faves. It was a special mezcal too, had a really good smokey flavor. My husband isn't big on mezcal or grapefruit but he actually said it was pretty good too! Really fun experience here, glad we checked it out. read more

This swanky little lounge inside the JW Marriott Desert Ridge was beautiful and a great place for people watching on a Saturday night. The drinks were awesome...try the espresso martini! They also have a happy hour food menu. The chicken empanada was decent but my favorite was the tres leches cake. Great bartenders, and also dog friendly! I'd recommend grabbing a drink here and taking it out onto the gorgeous patio by the water. Great date night idea! read more

Solid light dinner and wine! Caesar salad was split for 2 without us requesting! Fried calamari included tentacles which I consider essential. Charcuterie platter was fresh and had huge wedge of blue cheese plus humbolt fog cheese and havarti. Mustard, olives, fig jam plus candied nuts provided just the additional touch needed. Located inside the JW Desert Ridge, the food at twenty6 is overpriced as you would expect for a hotel bar, but the happy hour (2-5pm daily) is pretty good. During happy hour, they have $6 margaritas (too sweet), sangria, wine, and beer. The deviled eggs ($8 during happy hour) were very good, but still a little pricey. You're really paying for the nice seats and atmosphere. They have live music on Friday and Saturday nights. During the day you can watch birds - I saw one tearing a part a smaller bird on one of the chairs, which was an unusual but interesting experience... On one last note, the JW Marriott "signature beer" is actually quite nice. It's a kolsch, made by a local brewery and has some nice honey flavors. I would get that again if I came back. read more

Twenty6 is the main lobby area bar where you're bound to meet up with friends to grab a drink before heading out for the night. Just make sure to order the right drinks. The Twenty6 Margarita is a for sure drink you should order. The prickly pear syrup makes it so much more than your regular old margarita. The Bloody Mary was definitely the best I had while at the hotel, but definitely not near what the greatness of other places in Phoenix like Carly's. The biggest drawback for Twenty6 is the price. Is VERY expensive for a bar. Which is to be expected for a JW Marriott, but a little shocking when you get the bill. Opt for the Happy Hour (if they have it). Started off with the Spice Market Old Fashioned. It is wickedly good. I'm an old-school old fashioned fan and it really isn't one of those - but I enjoyed the heck out of it anyway. Really wish I had some peeps to keep me company so I could have had another. Anyway, I was alone and those meals usually go fast. Sat at some uber cool seating area. If I was a beautiful, stylish person - it would have worked. As someone trying to scarf a meal in a bar, it was a little awkward. I ordered the Turkey & Avocado BLT. It was very good. Only down side is that the bread was so toasted (stale?) that every bite broke it up like a shattered piece of glass. Difficult to eat as it was intended, but it tasted just fine. It came with a side of chips. The waiter seemed apologetic, but I thought they were well spiced with some sort of BBQ seasoning thing. This little gem, nested on the first floor lobby of the elegant JW Marriott Desert Ridge Resort & Spa, offers elegant atmosphere, delectable bites and a friendly, hard-working wait staff. Their food is delicious and filling. My husband and I snacked on treats while watching a football game. In the evening we sat outdoors by the fire and snacked on the Artisan Cured Meats and Local Cheese Board. The selection was simple and just enough to satisfy our need to snack. I initially ordered a Vieux Carré but they did not have the Bénédictine for the drink but the bartender improvised with some B&B and it was just as delicious. He also made us some mean old fashioneds and gimlets. Excellent all round when it comes to his craft. I understand that hiring competent customer service staff has gone the way of the dinosaur, but even at the lowest standards, Twenty6 at the JW Marriot Desert Ridge has had to scrape the bottom of the barrel. We stayed in an executive suite for an extended weekend, rented a poolside cabana for several days, and spent a LOT of money at this resort, as we do several times a year. The resort itself is terrific. The staff is helpful, friendly and accommodating. Then, there is Twenty6. The waitress that we had while dining there must have been having a really bad case of the Mondays. I understand that taking orders and having a server bring out the food can be a very taxing task, but if she didn't want to be in the customer service industry, she should not take a job in the customer service industry. We're very polite customers, we don't make demands, and we tip very well. In this case, we tipped well below what we would normally do. If I didn't feel for the person who actually served the food, I would have tipped 5% or less. The service was terrible. The attitude of the waitress, abysmal. It was like we kicked her favorite cat when placing our order. Didn't say "Hi", "Thank you", or even "Kiss my grits!". She certainly perfected the "Frickin Customers" scowl so prominent in the world of customer service today. Unfortunately, while the JW Marriot at Desert ridge is one of our favorites, they seem to be stuck hiring anyone who can fill out an application, customer service be damned. With all of the resorts available in the area, we may have to rethink whether we stay there again any time soon. We definitely won't be eating at Twenty6. read more

Not a big fan. On my stay here, I stopped in 3 times. The first time I had an awful experience. I ordered the burger medium rare, it was fully cooked and I did not enjoy it at all. Great atmosphere and food was good, but disappointed with the service. It was crowded, as I think an event was going on in the ballrooms and people must have come here after. However, we were able to get a seat. After waiting for a while and no one acknowledging us we were going to leave, but then we saw another table open up near the bar and kitchen. We thought maybe someone would see us better there, so we moved over. Same thing. I tried to make eye contact and signal a waiter, but was ignored. We were going to give it 5 more minutes then leave, and a waitress finally stopped. I was surprised she wasn't apologetic about the wait and not very friendly. She seemed almost annoyed/stressed, which I understand being so busy, but when paying a lot of money for the food and drinks there it would be nice to have a friendly server. We ordered drinks and an appetizer to start then thought we should go ahead and order more food at that time since it was busy. She said that would be a good idea because the kitchen is slammed. Took quite a while for the food to come and when it did it was just one of the orders (we had two separate checks). The rest of our food finally came. Not sure why they came so far apart when we ordered together, just separate checks. Some of our food was even the same. It was a different guy than our waitress who brought the food. One thing we ordered was the pretzel bites mainly for the cheese fondue. As he set the food down he said they're out of the cheese fondue that comes with the pretzels, which was disappointing. We didn't see our waitress for the longest time. When she stopped by to see if we got our food (which was almost gone) we mentioned the cheese fondue. She said the kitchen is so busy and trying to whip up some more. We had one pretzel bite left by that time anyways, so it didn't matter. I thought maybe part of the charge would be taken off our bill, but it was not. I didn't want to wait around to ask her about that. Not that it was a huge deal, but would've been nice customer service. Overall, the food was good and it's a nice atmosphere, just very disappointed with the service especially when you're spending so much money. I understand they were maybe busier than normal due to the events going on there, but I would think they'd plan ahead and have more people on staff during that time. read more
