Vietnamese xíu mại/ meatball in tomatoes sauce.
    Tam N.

Came in toward a late afternoon, wanted to try the famous "xíu mại" Vietnamese meatball with a baguette. Service was good, although it was slow so the workers also had their lunch time. The xíu mại was okay, although i had a slight issue with the middle part of the meatball being cold. The price was $8 for the small item with a baguette. I'm up in the air about giving the place a 2nd try, given the raving reviews about the place. Otherwise, their Vietnamese coffee was good.

Mien Tay has a variety of Vietnamese noodle soup options. Come here for the banh mi xiu mai. Banh Mi Xiu Mai: How does a meatball sandwich sound for breakfast? The large meatball (or is it a meatloaf) contains minced pork and diced jicama. It is in a small bowl filled with a savory tomato and tapioca sauce. The giant crispy baguette is fluffy on the inside. Tear off chunks of the bread and spoon some of the meatball and the sauce onto it. There's also a quail egg in the meatball. Dining Area: The dining area is spacious with about 10 tables. Parking: Parking is easy at the strip mall lot.

Came for the first time for lunch on a Friday. It's located in a plaza with plenty of parking. Inside was very new and clean. We ordered a #1 pho dac biet and a #8 hu tieu with egg noodles (chiu chow noodles). The pho came out first. We tasted the broth before mixing it up and it had a light sweet flavor. However, after I mixed the noodles, added the basil and bean sprouts the broth became very bland. Meats were good though and rice noodles cooked just right. The hu tieu with soup was a total let down. It didn't taste nor include all the ingredients in your typical hu tieu. There was no pork kidney, no fish cake and the broth tasted mostly of soy sauce. They even used the wrong type of the egg noodles. However, the noodle soup did taste good. Had they called it something else, house special noodles or something, I would have enjoyed it better. But cause they named it hu tieu, I had a certain expectation of the authentic hu tieu flavor. This was not it. Service was minimal. I might return to try the bun tieu.

Decent restaurant for Vietnamese food. They have a big menu and I got to try multiple things. From favorite to least favorite: Pho, Bun Rieu, Hu Tieu (Hay Mi) Bo Kho, Bun Thit Nuong Cha Gio, Bun Bo Hue. Pho had a generous portion of meat, fresh soft noodles, and a flavorful broth. That's why it was my favorite. As for the bun bo hue, the broth was not rich or spicy enough. The meats were a bit dissapointing. I would have liked to see some pork blood or pork knucles in it. That is why it was my least favorite. Service was really quick. The tables and utensils were clean and the condiments section looked well maintained. This place is very affordable as well.

I ordered mì nam vang khô. Food is good overall. Shrimp and meat are soft and tender. Sauce is a little salty for me.

Came here after my long moratorium from restaurants due to health reasons. The Vietnamese Spring Rolls were good. The Bread Bahn Mi was interesting. Pho was decent. Not a fan of the Seafood Noodles.

This experience was quite different from our first attempt to eat in this restaurant. Suffice to say we really enjoyed our meal this afternoon! We ordered the Shrimp Spring Roll, Beef Pho combination, Udon, Shrimp with Boiled Quail egg. Our food came quickly, Hot and tasty! The ambiance was low-key! The service was helpful and friendly! The restaurant was very clean!

I think they changed ownership. Since the bowl of Banh canh is a lot bigger but the quality stays the same, they took out quail eggs which is my fav part of the bowl but it's okay. The ambiance is nice and clean like before, this has always been my go to place when I can't think of something to eat and it always sastified me.

Decided to come here as we were in the area for lunch and got a dish to go for dinner as well. Located in a mixed residential and industrial area, this restaurant is serving up authentic viet food at a great price. Service: It was pretty quiet but we did come on a weekday. Nevertheless, server was good and everything came pretty quickly. Food: Special pho - noodles cooked to right texture, lots of beef and assortment of meats, broth was delicious, plenty of bean sprouts and basil leaves. 5/5. Took the vermicelli to go and it was delicious. The pork has a nice sweet sauce/glaze which is a bit different than other viet places. The meat is not super thin which I appreciate getting more meat. Spring rolls are delicious with plenty of filling. Price: really affordable at 12-13$ a dish.

Vietnamese meatloaf (appetizer menu) REALLY FREAKIN TASTY!
    Melinda B.

I have returned for another visit! I had to have the meatloaf again. It's so addicting. I also tried the egg rolls. I love that they give some mint leave with it. I wrap it all together and dip in the fish sauce. Yummy yummy. I had the wonton soup that was very good too. I loved the scallions cooked in the broth. What else...I tried the lychee lemonade. It was really refreshing and had chunks of lychee in it. A lovely meal

    RAT POOP everywhere

I'm so sad I have to post this because I loved this place but I walked in today with my family and before I sat down I looked down and saw this! I had to search up what I thought it was since I refused to believe it was actually RAT POOP on the chair and on the floor. We all ended up walking out and finding a new place:

    Pho Dac biet
    Huong N.

Went in for lunch on a friday. Got sat and waited on immediately. We ordered bun rieu and pho dac biet. Food was great (saying this as a Vietnamese person), service was great. Big portions and a good price. Plenty of parking in the lot.

I always order the no.1 at new pho places as it's always the same combination and it was really good. Northern style pho broth which is a mild broth but not in a bland way, very tasty, clean and didn't have any taste of msg or bouillon/dashi. the typical cheat code a lot of places seem to use to pack some flavor. im not saying it was void of any but I couldn't make it out being asian. hidden gem that could rival any Westminster pho. nice ladies and clean bathroom. definitely will be back.

Noodles were thin and cooked properly. The bone rib was a hard miss. It was very chewy and almost hard, as if it was old. Cooked a while ago and sitting for someone to order it. The rib itself is 4/10, if 5/10 meant acceptable. I ONLY recommend this spot if you're on your lunch break and gotta stay in the area for work. Otherwise, you should make the drive to eat better. I assume the good rating they have is due to lack of competition in the immediate area. They have a B rating as if 9/25/2024! 1.5 years and they still haven't made the effort to get right? I've eaten in many hole in the wall spots and have pretty normal standards for cleanliness as I understand how things get. But this place made me feel dirty. I'm a dude who can just stand and piss over any drain, but the restroom was disgusting. If my family was with me I would feel horrible allowing my wife or kids to have to use it. Washing your hands would make you feel dirtier, that's how bad it was. Bottom line. 6/10 If you must remain in this area, go for it. The pho is good enough. If you have options and time 4/10, steer clear from here until they put in the effort. If the bathroom didn't gross me out so much, I woulda took a photo.

Didn't think I'd find it here in the SGV vs in Orange County where I lived for 10+ yrs. Broth at Viet Huong is richer vs the clear broth favored at most places here. The brisket (thịt chín) has a little bit more fat to it which makes it less dry, cut with a meatier cut vs paper thin. The rare beef is minced a little.
