The pho here is where it's at - my favorite in the entire SGV (yes, I have tried everyone's favorite spot Golden Deli). I grew up eating pho in Saigon and IYKYK, the pho in North America vs in Saigon are distinct. One isn't inherently better than the other, it's just a matter of taste. But, I was very pleasantly surprised that the pho here comes very close to pho in Saigon, a taste I've often craved (and this is also how I cook pho at home), but haven't been able to come across in North America. Didn't think I'd find it here in the SGV vs in Orange County where I lived for 10+ yrs. Broth at Viet Huong is richer vs the clear broth favored at most places here. The brisket (thịt chín) has a little bit more fat to it which makes it less dry, cut with a meatier cut vs paper thin. The rare beef is minced a little. All the good things that remind me of the good old Saigonese pho flavors. The staff is very friendly. They all speak English really well which made me doubt the authenticity of the food (lol) but that worry was put to rest soon after my pho bowl came out. This will become my new favorite pho place. read more

Came here because of the 4-star rating on Yelp. Honestly, the food felt more like 2 stars. Maybe I didn't order the right dishes, even though Bun Bo Hue were featured on Yelp. Service was attentive, so I'd add an extra star for that. The ambiance is pretty standard--just your typical Vietnamese pho spot. The food here is delicious, fresh, and authentic. We had such an amazing lunch today and I'll definitely be back to try more dishes. We had the sampler appetizers as a starter and it was so bountiful and well balanced with fresh herbs and lettuce for the crispy egg rolls and the cha and nem nuong was cooked to perfection. The spring rolls were wrapped perfectly with every note well balanced with shrimp and noodles and veggies. We had the tofu in s savory tomato base sauce and it made me remember my childhood of how my mom used to make it. The chao with shrimp and seafood soup were both comforting and flavorful and complimented the other dishes. The portions are huge and flavor packed! Ambiance - Simple, casual, and homey. It's a small place with a few parking spots of their own but not super roomy for parking. Inside there is a decent amount of seating for a cozy sized restaurant like this. Service - Sweet and friendly people. They try their best to serve and be helpful. Accidentally made my drink wrong and blended the ice so they offered to re-make but I didn't mind so I told them it wasn't necessary. Food - It hurts me to say but it was middle of the road. Good enough to satisfy a craving without having to go all the way down to OC area but not what my mom was looking for. I personally also didn't like the veggie eggrolls. The wrap was crunchy and crispy but I fear it also was thick and I didn't care for it. Filling was also whatever. Somewhat bland and mushroom tofu forward. We tried this place while visiting the area. The beef spring rolls were very tasty with the sauce although the sauce is a little sweet. I had the beef noodle soup with brisket and thin beef and it was very good and filling. My friend had the shrimp and pork blood soup and it had a strange smell and taste. My mom and I asked the first server what he'd recommend-to which he was like "uhhh idk" lol, But then who I assumed to be the owner came around and gave us great recommendations-always ask, it never hurts. I got the #5 with well done beef brisket and flank, I was also shown how to eat my pho with a type of beef oil and pickled onions with a couple different sauces-which was all new to me. I've had the com tam dishes with grilled pork and the pork chop. Overall, great amount of food and great flavor. The appetizer sampler is great value and the spring rolls are excellent. Been Trying see how my local Asian restaurants are in the El Monte community. This Vietnamese restaurant is pretty authentic. I got some spring rolls for appetizers which wasn't too bad. I got the shrimp and beef. Was a bit sad when the shrimp didn't come with the usual pork belly slices but it still pretty good. I have been coming here for at least 15 years. My go-to is the rare beef pho and eggrolls. I also love the iced coffee and always grab a cup to go. When it's too hot for pho I get a vermicelli pork salad. The food is consistently delicious and honestly this is the ONLY pho I enjoy. The egg rolls were filled with hard log, hotdog mystery meat consistency not rolled in rice paper but some kind of flavorless blistered, fried? whatever it was wrapping. I also got the Beef Vermicelli bowl, it came with iceberg lettuce with stands of cucumber skin- both gross, typically comes with romaine. The fish sauce they gave me was just that- no additional flavouring put in it, just a bowl of fish sauce- NO. disgusting. The beef itself was hard and cold, much like beef jerky. My friend got the fried rice- from what continent or country, no one can tell. Beef Spring Rolls -- Four per plate, stuffed with sweet-marinated beef and a bit of crushed peanuts (double-check if you have allergies). The dipping sauce is a unique, hoisin-based blend with pickled carrots and daikon--very different from the standard orange or fish sauce that most places offer. Again, the flavors took me right back. I'm giving this place five stars--not because it's the "best pho of all time," but because of the value, consistency, and nostalgia. First impressions: it's really empty for a Saturday night, booths are ripped, and it's colder than a walk in refrigerator ( obviously an exaggeration but I was wearing a long sleeve, sweat pants, and a jacket and was still cold until I started eating) Food was okay. Pho broth was a little oily and the noodles were a tad undercooked and ever so slightly hard. The stand out part was the basil leaves which were gigantic. While I would normally appreciate the soup not being scalding hot, this time I wish it was to cook the noodles a bit more. The pho came in a huge bowl that's twice the size of the small size. It was enough for two people. They gave only one plate of side veggies even though we got more than one bowl of pho. I like that there's never a wait to get seated here. The parking lot is small but theres always open spots. The booth seats are getting old as some cushions had big cracks. So it's missing the full experience but decent. The broth is good. I do like that the beef is cut into chunks instead of slices though. The pho is ok only the soup broth is missing something and doesn't smell delicious, good amount of beef included, pho noodles are a bit overcooked and falls apart. I like the pho noodles chewy instead. Pretty average pho restaurant. This is the spot you'd want to go, if you're looking for value meal. The bowl is about $14 for large now but they give so much meat & noodles. It's not the best tasting broth and the brisket does take a little bit of chewing, but it taste alright & they give a lot of meat. We called to pickup and it went pretty smooth. They only offer large size for to go (makes sense, otherwise they'd have to have so many size containers).
