This place is good but not worth the price. Most drinks are $22-$25. The berry drink I got was half Topo Chico, and it was too sweet. The ribeye appetizer is good but SO spicy; it blew my pallet. The chicken Sonora tacos were not good. The chicken was so dry and there was nothing in the taco to balance that such as a sour cream or avocado. We also ordered the $75 short rib dish. The short rib was great and the cheese quesadillas to dip in the sauce/broth was a nice touch. The accompanying bone marrow was the worst I've ever had. All fat and no flavor. Leave that off, charge the dish at $55, and it'd be worth it. The tres leches dessert was amazing! Highly recommend! As far as atmosphere, the music was way too loud and we could barely hear ourselves or our waitress. La diskada skillet: there's all kinds of meats in this little skillet. Corn tortillas are yummy!! It looks small but it's incredibly filling. Great for an upcoming night of drinking. Callejon del Beso: YUM! I'm so glad the manager came around to the table to explain this unique drink. Find the small yellow flower part, take a tiny bite. Experience the tingle it leaves then take another sip of your cocktail. AMAZING!! it really lightens up the drink so much more. The feeling lasts for a minute or so. Agavero: they put some work into this cocktail. It's so fun! They give you a glass with hibiscus in it then a bottle with the alcohol. Beautifully presented. It's kind of strange... they had English radio music instead of Spanish dancing music playing in the background. If you stay late enough, they have live performances and DJs, turn the restaurant into a dancing area. Came to enjoy a pre show dinner here on a Sunday afternoon around 5:30. We were quickly sat and attended to by our waitress but that's about where the service ended. It was apparent they were understaffed but they were doing their best to accommodate all the guest between food runners and bussers. If you check-in on Yelp you get a free margarita which was very good but I only had one as I was never asked if I wanted another. I included pics of our entrees which were both very flavorful and delicious. Their infamous birria tacos lived up to hype as they were packed with meat and cheese. We also tried the bone marrow app which wasn't for us but it was our first time having bone marrow so if you're into it be my guest. Drinks to dream for. Music that would keep you there all night an a menu that made me regret eating before getting there. Visiting Phoenix and stumbled across this restaurant when exploring downtown. There was a couple waiting prior to opening which made us curious. We ordered queso fundido skillet with braised pork, a side of bone marrow, infamous quesabirria, and the cheesecake brownie and they were all amazing. All cheese lovers should try the queso fundido skillet, which consists of melted Mexican cheese with your choice of roasted chili verde/corn, chili's braised pork or chorizo. This was really filling for the 2 of us. The infamous quesabirria have 3 different sauces to pair with. All super flavorful and a joy to experience. The sauce for the bone marrow was very strong (cilantro based) and slightly spicy. The drinks are yummy but super strong. One is enough. Get a DD when coming here. Noticed that people who came in after us were taken care of first which sucked but I think the owner (got that vibe from him) came to ask if we had been helped and took our drink order. Food was pretty good! We got the tomahawk steak and wagyu burger, would definitely order again. Cooked just how we like it (medium). Drinks are really good as well! Presentation could be better but it all ends up in our stomach the same. The side of beans was very small although came in a cute cup. Salsa was okay, tasted more like the chile than salsa. We tried this place just for a moment. Meaning we had a short amount of time to grab a bite. We were pleasantly surprised. We had the salad and some Sonoran tacos. Both amazing. Great flavor. Their take on chips and salsa was a bit different, but still pretty good. Just don't expect the usual. The place was small and I believe they have concerts or live performers here. Was going to breakfast at another establishment that had a (too long) wait, so we went here instead. Best choice ever. Party of 4 seated immediately. Started with delicious cocktails (authentic, so much so that mine came with crispy grasshoppers on the watermelon!) that were worth every penny. the elote appetizer was delicious (eaten before a picture). We had chilaquiles, birria tacos, a birria torte, and pork belly rancheros. We all enjoyed our entrees - the birria consume was excellent. The flavor is deep and smokey for the pink color it gives off with the hibiscus. The Queens Hell had an edible flower and was delish too. We ordered the octopus tacos and the imfamous quesabirria. Both were great and I'd get both again for entrees. I wish the roasted chile verde and corn queso fundido skillet had a bit more chile in it, but it was so cheesy and delicious. Miel de Agave has a ton of potential. The food is creative and beautiful. The cocktails look interesting (I haven't had any). Unlike similar places in this area (ghost donkey and barcoa) they have a full restaurant menu. Miel had a few decent wine choices which was nice as well. I've been twice, once in the evening for dinner by myself and once for lunch with my dog. Dinner I sat at the outside bar. Service is not seasoned yet and I'm rooting for them to tighten the ship. The bartenders and service were all nice and friendly. But lacked some organization and process, it seemed. I wasn't sure who was taking care of me it was kind of by committee. But ultimately they were nice and accommodating. I ate empanaditas de huitaloche. The server asked if I knew what huitaloche was and explained it to me, which I appreciated and found interesting (mushrooms that grow on corn I believe he said). They were presented beautifully, and tasted good but didn't blow me away. The salad was good. I'm a fan of the fruit, nuts, and goat cheese type salads. This one however was a bit too sweet. The strawberries honestly tasted like they had sugar added but maybe they were just really sweet strawberries. It was also presented well. As the night progressed it got busy and there were a lot of people drinking and having a good time. There was a live cover band that seemed pretty awesome but I'm no music critic. Lunch I sat at an outside table. Service was again a little discombobulated but I got everything I needed. I was allowed to have my dog which I appreciate. I ordered the king tostadas which are a Japa Mex fusion. The fried rice puff tortilla shell was super delicious. I liked some of it but the seaweed and sticky rice was not really my cup of tea. If you like Mexican food and sushi though I think this might be your favorite. I found the meat a bit tough but I'm kinda picky about meat especially skirt steak. I'd rather over cook it slow for an hour which is maybe an unpopular opinion. The watermelon salad was pretty amazing. It looked and in many ways tasted like tuna sashimi. But crisper and not fishy. It was worth the experience. Looked beautiful. Ultimately I'll probably steer away from the Japanese dishes and stick with the more Mexican ones, but that is just my taste. I'm glad I had this salad though. It was an amazing transformation of the watermelon in my opinion. Both of these dishes looked stunning. Miel de Agave is definitely not perfect and I'm giving them some benefit of the doubt being brand new. I see them taking the feedback seriously in these reviews which is a good sign. If they can smooth out the rough edges, I expect them to become a great addition to the neighborhood. I see a lot more people drinking there than eating, which I hope changes.
