Chicken Kaarage (top) and Takoyaki (bottom)

My boyfriend and I were strolling Queen Street West area on a Saturday afternoon. For dinner, we decided to pick a place that looked cozy. As we were walking, we saw people inside having warm bowls of ramen, so we picked this place to have dinner. As soon as we entered, we were greeted by friendly faces and high pitched hello! Our waiter for this evening was a friendly young man who took us to a seat across from the open-concept kitchen. He brought us hot glasses of water (as per our request) and suggested their popular items to try. The decor was modern and calming. The mix of brown, green, black, and red added interest to a few places (e.g. by the entrance, the kitchen) yet a relaxing feeling. I enjoyed seeing the mix of artificial plants and wood panels to create a serene place. For appetizer, we ordered Takoyaki and Chicken Kaarage. For the main, we both picked Spicy Tan Tan Ramen (seasoned ground chicken, baby bak choy, chilli pepper, chilli threads, and chilli flakes). Also, my boyfriend ordered a Japanese mango soda. The appetizers tasted great- Takoyaki were hot and fresh and the Chicken Kaarage were also hot and succulent. The ramen was also delicious- hot and spicy to warm us up! The portion size was very generous. We enjoyed the Japanese mango soda- it was lightly sweet and refreshing. Throughout the evening, our waiter checked-in on us to make sure that we had everything we needed. He was attentive and friendly, and we appreciated his service. Delicious food and attentive service in a relaxed place. You can't go wrong!

The food, service, and the ambiance were perfect at Midori ! The waitress that was helping me, she was very friendly :) At Midori, they have a unique appetizer flight! My favorite were definitely the purple yam with honey dip and the chicken karage! I ordered the Truffle Ramen, and it was delicious! A lot of flavor for sure, and more on the saltier side. I had a lot of broth remaining, so I ordered an extra bowl of thin noodles! If you're in the area of downtown Toronto, this place is highly recommended!

A mid tier ramen place. Noodles have good texture, toppings are reasonably fresh, but the broth is meh. Nothing wrong with it but I stand by my opinion that the best ones are Kinton, Ajisen, and Sansotei (then again I prefer spicy broths).

I got the red spicy with fire spice level and for me it wasn't spicy. The broth was yummy and I enjoyed it. Price point a little higher than most places and ramen did not come with an egg. Service was the issue we had. We were seated first and another couple was seated next to us a few minutes later. The waitress comes and takes their order first then comes to us. Sure no big deal but then they proceed to get their food while we are still waiting. By the time they finished their meal we are still waiting so we ask the waitress what is the delay? She told us 'oh sorry we got a lot of delivery orders so your food is coming soon'. We would think that dine in customers should be priority over delivery but yeah eventually we got our food but it was a big delay They did give us 10% off for the delay but will not be returning

Finally got to try Midori after having it bookmarked for so long! I usually get spicy ramen but I decided to try something different based on other reviews. I got the black garlic ramen and w o w. So worth it. The broth was so flavourful and almost creamy. The garlic flavour wasn't overpowering but the taste was still there. I got the ramen with thin noodles and an egg. The chashu and chicken was a good size of protein for me. The thin noodles were chewy and delicious. Also shared the karaage and takoyaki with my friend and we loved both appetizers. My friend got the spiciest version of the red spicy and the broth actually tasted pretty mild. Restaurant is beautiful and service was great. I'll definitely return to try their other ramen!

Had dinner here right before 7pm which was the perfect time - no wait! I didn't have high expectations for this place but I was pleasantly surprised with the creamy broth. It was different than other ramen styles I've had - although a bit heavy as a result. I had the original tori paitan ramen with an egg. The thick noodles were cooked really well - great chewy texture. Something different is that each order comes with a slice of chicken and a slice of pork (rather than typically being just pork). The chicken was soft but I prefer having regular chashu. The Red Spicy was pretty much the same broth but with a bit of spice. We also shared a takoyaki appetizer which was good but took longer to come out. By the time we left, the restaurant was starting to fill up. Overall I liked the food here!

    Takoyaki is always great!

This place may be my new fave ramen place! Usually, I find ramen to be too salty and heavy, but this one was perfect. I tried the duck ramen, and it was perfect-- juicy duck, a lovely broth, great noodles, and a perfectly executed egg! What's not to love? As usual, I couldn't finish it in one sitting, but I'm happy to eat the leftovers for lunch tomorrow. Their takoyaki was also awesome; crisp on the outside, soft on the inside. The restaurant is small but they have this really cool seating area up front around a green space; loved that!

Who doesn't love a good bowl of ramen on a winter day? Especially with the cold weather, I've been craving ramen a lot. Midori Ramen was a spot I haven't tried yet and was intrigued to give it a try. Their menu has a reasonable amount of options to pick from. I ended up picking the Duck ramen considering not many places in Toronto sell the duck ramens. Duck Ramen: It was super delicious. The broth was the right kind of flavour and the duck really complimented with the creamy ramen broth. The portions were quite good. The service was nice and patient as we took some time to browse the menu. The food came out pretty quickly. Overall, I would definitely come back if I'm in the Queen St W area again.

Great service! Ramen was ok/decent - perfect portion, good noodles. However, I preferred my friend's ramen which was the duck one - the broth was creamy with an earthy/umami undertone. I asked for hot sauce on the side and they gave me a spicy paste which was not spicy at all.

Tasty food but staff's service left bitter taste in my mouth. Wouldn't let me sit where I wanted when there was nobody sitting there anyways. Food: 4 stars

I always love when a new ramen spot pops up in Toronto, as we have so many different specialties that the ramen scene here has become truly special. Midori specializes in a creamy chicken broth, which was incredibly delicious. Their decor was also beautiful, with a bonsai bar at the front and some cozy booths at the back. Here's the rundown of the food: - Signature Tori Paitan Ramen: this was an incredible broth, creamy and fragrant and unlike anything I've had before - but with all that cream and butter it was incredibly heavy meal and I could only finish half my bowl. The chashu was also delicious, and the egg was perfectly cooked. - Tan Tan Noodles: this was a spicier version of the chicken broth, and honestly the pure chicken broth was better but this was good too. Packed with chicken, it was also a very filling bowl. Overall Midori was a great spot with delicious ramen, and I would love to come back to try more of their menu!

I ordered 4 different ramen via uber eats (in order to get $50 min) all for myself! I sampled a bit of all 4 right away, before putting the leftover in the fridge. 1. Spicy Ramen Medium - After I cut the whole fresh chili pepper into thin slices, the broth became much spicier with a chili flavour, which was perfect! The broth was very creamy, chickeny, and flavourful. I felt very satisfied with this ramen and drank every drop. 5/5 2. Spicy Ramen Fire - Same as above, just more spicy. I could drink this broth alone every day! It is the perfect amount of spice for me and so addictive. It is not too spicy, I would say it is sriracha level. 5/5 3. "Creamy" Vegetable Ramen - I enjoy getting vegetarian ramen to try so I can recommend halal or vegetarian options for my friends. I also like tasting how different shops create a flavourful ramen without pork or chicken bones. That being said, I've had vegetarian ramen from several shops in Toronto. This was my least favourite broth ever. It was very bland and watery. It also was not creamy at all. It was cloudy but not creamy like the chicken ramen here or like a cream of broccoli soup. It was "creamy" like a watered down miso. I would give this item a 2/5 and feel like it was a waste of calories and money. 4. Black Garlic Ramen - At first, the broth tasted very 2 dimensional. It tasted like roasted chicken bones with roasted garlic in liquid. Like homemade chicken soup with burnt garlic. But after the chicken breast and pork slice sat in the soup for a few minutes, everything balanced out more. The broth became more flavourful and complex which I grew to like. However, I would not order this again as the black garlic tasted like burnt garlic and it is too garlic heavy for my preference. I would reccomend this to a garlic lover, but also think there are better garlic heavy ramen in Toronto. 3.5/5 I normally dislike chicken breast in ramen, but I actually preferred it over the pork at Midori as it was like a sponge holding the soup! Really wish the ramen came with a soft egg, ramen doesnt feel like ramen without it.

This is my first experience eating ramen since February 2020. Food: The chicken-based broth is in the high-tier of rich and creamy - the ultimate chicken soup in ramen form. I got my ramen with thick noodles (I consider this normal thickness) and as recommended by the staff got the Signature Tori Paitan ramen. This bowl comes with both pork and chicken chashu. The chicken chashu was unbelievably soft, I have not had a piece of chicken breast with that texture before. The pork chashu is a pork belly slice, nicely charred with a torch. The red onion, scallion, aosa sea lettuce, soft-boiled egg, burdock root thin chips (placed in the center) complemented the broth. After finishing my ramen, I had a full stomach despite sipping the majority of the amazing broth and experienced no heaviness. Alternative noodles are offered such as thin, kale, and gluten-free noodles. Cold noodles are also served here too. Service & atmosphere: When you walk in, there is a COVID-19 questionnaire your group has to complete on your mobile device. At the table, there is a QR code where the menu can be viewed, no physical/paper menu is given. The staff here are attentive and give good customer service. There are four tables that seat 2-4 people at the back each. There was a fair amount of physical distance between the tables. If you come here to eat solo, you can sit by the bonsai garden table at the front of the shop (maximum 2 people at this table I think). Pricing: At the time of this review, a bowl goes from $13.50 to $16. There are combos available for 1 person, 2 people, and 4 people with great deals. I usually gravitate towards pork-based ramen but Midori Ramen has changed my perception of chicken-based ramen. I will definitely come back here again!

The seafood and tonkotsu broth was rich, savory, and full of flavor. It was a little too salty to drink on its own, but perfect for dipping the noodles. The only thing to note is that the cold noodles stayed quite firm even after sitting in the broth for a while, so if you prefer a softer texture, I would recommend asking for hot noodles instead. The soft-boiled egg was also really good, slightly sweet, chilled, and very flavorful. We also tried the Spicy Red Miso ramen, which was not actually very spicy and leaned a little sweet. The broth was pleasant, though my teammate felt there were so many onions and green onions that they covered some of the miso flavor. The chashu, however, was excellent, with a really nice balance of lean meat and fat without feeling greasy. The takoyaki was classic and well done, crisp on the outside, soft in the middle, with generous pieces of octopus inside. The karaage was also very solid, crispy outside and juicy inside, with a seasoning that had a clear ginger and cooking wine aroma. Overall, a very enjoyable meal, especially if you like rich broths and comforting Japanese side dishes.

My friend had the King of Kings as our server said this is one of their most popular choices. I opted for the Spicy Charsu. Now I understand some people can't handle heat but I live off of Purple Tongue hot sauce which is made with some pretty hot peppers. I asked for a level one and the lady explained that the spice level on the Charsu was a whole series of levels higher than the King of Kings. I get that . Give me the heat. Anywho, she was comfortable with giving me 0.5 but said I could make it hotter if need be. Ok, better to start smaller I guess. They put some sauce on the side which I added to my bowl. Personally I found the 0.5 a nice tingle; it was good. Made my nose run. But I'm totally getting the level 1 next time. My friend however tried a sip of my broth, spit it out and said poison poison because of the heat Mind you, his King of Kings was a level 1. Which to me tasted creamy and delicious. I love a good pork bone soup and I opted for the Spicy Charsu because of the pork bone base. I loved the broth. It was perfection. The noodles were so fresh . The portion size was enormous. The broth was magma red, but it was not as spicy as I thought it would be. Don't get me wrong, it was spicy but not to the point where it would warrant a warning. The spicy broth tasted like a mix of Buldak sauce and Capsaicin, but didn't have much depth. I finished my ramen, broth and all and enjoyed most of the experience. The least favorite was the chasu and the egg as chasu did not taste fresh, and I could not taste the char on them at all. The egg was over-cooked and under marinated which was disappointing. It's still one of the few ramen options in Durham but can't say it's comparable to the other Kenzo locations.

Last Tuesday, I had my monthly 7 am meeting with a bunch of technical writing peers from around the world. It's quite the meeting that typically lasts for four hours. Luckily, we ended earlier than usual. It meant that my workday ended at around 3:30 pm. It was perfect, as I had a concert to attend several hours later. Normally, I don't do dinner before a concert. I grab a quick bite to each before I head downtown. This time, since I was done work early, I felt that having an early dinner was worthwhile. I drove downtown and parked in a lot that seems to be my usual spot whenever I'm attending a concert at Massey Hall. My original plan was to find an eatery close to the concert venue. I spotted Hokkaido Ramen Santouka steps away. I wanted ramen! I walked in and there was a sign that said to wait. I had no wait time. A woman and the entire staff greeted me. I asked for a table for me and got one. It was great. Seating between tables and diners is close together. You definitely overhear conversations and you can't help it. The man next to me had stretched his foot under my table. I didn't notice that he was in my space until I uncrossed my leg and my foot hit his. I listened to two friends next to me. The man seemed to take charge over what he and his female friend should eat, which was interesting. He gave the impression that he was an expert until the server came over and he had a ton of questions. It's always fun being an observer and listener. I had no choice but to listen to her dating experiences. I got a menu. I knew what I wanted. My server came over and was ready to take my order. I got these items: - Diet Coke - Miso chachu ramen, with bamboo shoot held - Jammy egg and corn as extra toppings The menu doesn't tell you what ingredients you get in each type of ramen. However, it does come with a photo. I asked how large a large bowl of ramen was. My server was great pointing up to a display of three bowls. I went large. The photo indicated that my miso ramen had bamboo shoots. I'm not a fan of them, so I asked that they be omitted. I also added a jammy egg and corn. I got a cold can of Diet Coke. A frosted glass with ice accompanied it. I was happy. I love an icy cold drink. This one was excellent. I loved that it was extra cold. My bowl of ramen had arrived. I was excited to dive in. My miso chachu ramen was delicious. The miso flavour was on point. I drank most of the broth, which speaks volumes on how yummy it was. The chachu was tender and had the best balance of pork and fattiness. The number of slices was generous. The ramen was chewy and perfectly done. I loved the corn and jammy egg. I probably wouldn't have enjoyed my ramen without these two key toppings. They worked nicely with the green onions. What prevents me from giving this place a perfect rating is flagging a server to get me water, or to frankly flag any staffer for something, such as ordering dessert or getting the bill. It took effort and hand-waving to get their attention. It took two tries to get a glass of water with ice. I was happy when I got some after I had finished my Diet Coke. It was equally as cold and yummy. I ordered dessert. The menu is stuck on each table. I asked what ice cream flavours were available. There were two flavours and I went with matcha. It was rich, creamy, and full of strong matcha flavour. The scoop of ice cream was generous. I loved the small spoon, which allowed this dessert to last a lot longer. I asked for the bill. I got a payment machine. I used my credit card to pay and tip. All was great. I used the washroom before I headed over to explore the downtown area. The washrooms are downstairs. It's an older building, so accessibility is an issue. There are two single-stall washrooms. The one that I used was clean. Because it's an older building, the ceiling is low. I am just shy of six feet in height. I made it without hitting my head on the ceiling. If you are six feet and taller, you'll need to duck to make sure you don't bang your head. Staff say goodbye to you when you leave. It was a nice touch, although I don't know what they are saying to me in Japanese. They could be swearing at me and I wouldn't know. I had a wonderful experience here. If you don't mind sitting close to folks and waving your arms like a maniac to get your server's attention, come here. This ramen joint appeared as a Michelin place in 2017. I can see why. The food quality is excellent. (200)
