    Today's visit for check up
    Zoe Z.

I have been coming here for the past two years for almost all my repair/check up needs. They are very responsive and reliable. Never force any parts or service on me. Had a minor leak this week. They did the check up quickly and told me it's something that the car can regulate by itself and not an issue. Nothing needs to be done and zero money spent. For someone like me who knows nothing about car, I feel I can trust them every time I bring my car here.

I was once a secret shopper at this establishment and I gave them great reviews then and I'm giving them a great review now. They are less then 10min from home so they are conveniently located. Normally when I pass by they aren't really busy so I like that I wouldn't be waiting half a day to get my car back. I had looked them up online to check for business hours and saw that I would need to set an appt prior to coming in. I set an appt for Mon at 3p and got done with errands early so I headed over, an hour early, hopeing that they take me in, which they did!! Yay! Went to get an oil change and I was in and out in about 20min. Price was reasonable. Overall, I'll be a return customer for future auto services.

Invoice after they replaced the bad strut they installed and refunded me a second shop's fee to assess their poor quality work.

I came to Midas for an oil change for a Honda CRV. Similar to Jennifer A.'s review, they would not honor the coupon amount which was for regular oil, but stated Honda required full synthetic oil. I got the oil change and they recommended new struts, new tires, and a wheel alignment. I thought they were trying to sell more service and declined, but at home I could see that at least one strut was leaking. I took it in and had one pair replaced on 1/14/2025 and the second pair and control arm replaced on Friday, 3/14/2025. At that point all four struts and a However, it was IMMEDIATELY clear right as I pulled into traffic that something was wrong with the suspension. There was a severe rattle and vibration from the left rear of the vehicle after going over even the slightest bump. I made my way back to the shop. The service writer (Javin M.) was gone, but the mechanic and assistant were still there. The mechanic put my CRV back up on the rack to show that he had replaced the struts. He stated that he had heard the rattle and told "the boss" (evidently the service writer), but the service writer made no mention of this to me verbally or in writing when he handed me back my key. The mechanic said it was so bad he thought the new strut had failed, so he replaced it with a second new one, and claimed it had no effect. He said he didn't know what was causing the problem. I took the vehicle to a second repair shop on 3/19/2025 and they told me within an hour that the new left rear strut was no good. I took the car and the second shop's receipt to Midas, told the service writer (Brant T.) that they installed a bad strut on my vehicle and either didn't recognize it or didn't tell me, and asked them to fix it at no extra cost and to reimburse me for the second repair shop's assessment. He did not argue with any of that but did not admit at any time that they made any mistake. But he asked me to sign a form that specifically said that I authorized them to charge me for extra work and parts if they were not able to contact me. I said I wouldn't sign that and he said (I QUOTE) "you can sign it or you can have a good day". I thought that was a pretty rude position for a suspension shop that failed to do basic suspension work to take and I was about ready to walk away and file a claim in small claims court. Then he stated verbally that he would call me before doing anything that would require any additional charge. I asked why did he need me to sign that form, and he claimed it was a required state form. Nowhere on the form were there any markings indicating it was a state of Hawaii form. I handwrote a note that the shop would contact me before proceeding if any additional charges were required and he either didn't notice or didn't complain. I've tried to find evidence that this form is required online at home and I can't find anything from the state of Hawaii about it. I do see this information (https://cca.hawaii.gov/rico/the-regulated-industries/motor-vehicle-repairs/) from the state of Hawaii saying "Hawaii law requires licensed repair dealers and mechanics provide a written estimate before starting any work." That's about the opposite of what their form is claiming. I am not convinced at all that it's actually a required form from the state and I would love for them to prove me wrong. A couple hours later I had a message saying my vehicle was ready. Brant T. was still at the counter and apologized for the form but not for failing to do the correct maintenance correctly or wasting my time with extra trips. My vehicle operated correctly afterward, and he didn't charge me anything additional and reimbursed me for the second repair shop's assessment. Maybe they knew it wasn't fixed and meant to tell me that, but accidentally gave me my keys back and charged me $1,934.98 for a new pair of struts and a sway bar link and sent me on my way anyway? Maybe they didn't test drive it after attempting to repair it? Maybe they did test drive it and were too incompetent to notice that the suspension was not operating correctly at all? Or ... maybe they knew they installed a bad part and hoped I wouldn't argue about it? I guess only Midas Beretania knows what happened here. I wish you could give zero or negative stars. I would STRONGLY advise that you avoid this shop. It seems in my case that they either made a grossly negligent mistake or were outright dishonest.

Worst customer service !! Period!! I can in today for a safety check and the lady said it will take 45 min. Now it will take up to 2 hours because they said i would need a new tire because they said my tire was bald which it wasn't. These people find any excuse to charge a person something that people don't need. Yes I am changing my tires soon because I did ordered 4 new tires now!! Now I can't change them because I just spent more damn money that I didn't need to spend in the first place.

Beware! Get a second opinion & quote before coming here. These guys will rip you off esp if they think ypu don't know anything about cars. Brought in my Jeep Renegade because it was making grinding noises. They basically said I have to replace almost everyththing on front & rear axle. Quote was 2,200$ not includung tax. I Immediately drive to Lex Broadies after & got diagnosed there. They said it just the front breaks, Rotators & calipers & was less than half the quote of Midas. These guys will rip you off, treat you like your ignorant & push repairs thst are not necessesary. Do not trust this business!

On top of that, they would not let me take my car home that Friday (because I worked weekends) or they were gonna charge me an additional $150 to RE-assess my vehicle AGAIN that Monday. So in addition to the $847.80 that they charged me I had to rent a car which costed me an additional hundred something dollars. My car kept dying as I was driving, and I had previously had a AAA read out that said that my alternator was fine. Neue Auto insisted that it was the alternator and the serpentine belt that needed to be replaced and guaranteed their work. I authorized them to do the work because they insisted they were the professionals, but this did not fix the problem. I attempted to remedy this with the manager and instead of doing things in writing so I could have documentation he insisted on calling and trying to smooth talk his way out of the promises that his business made. Needless to say I had to replace the vehicle. The reason that I am saying that they're a rip off, is not only because the vehicle was still presenting the same problems, but also because this is what they sent me as "proof" that my alternator was not working. Please keep in mind they never actually gave me this receipt for the readout, and it's stapled to a bunch of other receipts that I have no idea what they are. To sum it up, avoid Neue A uto or risk unethical business practices that don't actually fix your vehicle but still take your money. I would've given them zero stars, but that's not possible.

And it was the first of the month so everyone and their mama was at Oil Changers needing a new inspection at 8am. Look. I waited in that line for 3 hours! But I was in my car and just watched videos. Totally my fault. If you come during the middle of the month, I feel like you'd be fine. Don't go first thing in the morning to "beat the crowd" because you ain't beating these guys. I was there at 8am and the line was already to the road. Then someone pulled up behind me so I was stuck. Fml! Not their fault. They have one inspector and one bay dedicated to that inspection. It took about 25mins per car. And yes because my d*mb*ss let my safety inspection expire, I had to wait 3 hours to get the safety inspection, go to the actual dmv to pay in person, then go back to oil changers to get the safety inspection sticker. That process didn't change. And when I came back in the afternoon, there wasn't much of a line, and since I just needed the sticker, the guy just updated his computer and put in on real quick. I don't know if there are quicker places on the island. I'm not that cool. But just don't go on the first or last of the month and you should be good. No appointment necessary just show up, and bring a snack.

I was told that my car had multiple issues, but the shop repeatedly misdiagnosed the main problem and recommended replacing parts that did not resolve the issue. I went back and forth with them for over a week, spending both time and money, only to leave without the original problem being properly fixed. I eventually took my car to a different mechanic, who was able to diagnose the issue within about an hour. They also found that some of the things this shop had told me they had fixed were, in fact, still not fixed. What was especially frustrating was the lack of clear answers. The general manager called me and repeated what the employees had told me: that my car had "so many issues." When I asked him to explain specifically what those issues were, I couldn't get a clear or straightforward answer. Overall, I feel that I wasted a significant amount of money and time dealing with this shop. Based on my experience, I would not recommend them. I believe customers deserve clear diagnoses, honest communication, and repairs that actually resolve the problems they are paying to have fixed. Do yourself a favor and get a second opinion before spending a lot of money here. I certainly wish I had.
