I have been using this shop for years and I am very satisfied! Jeff and the other guys there are very friendly and accommodating, I can trust them (which is a big thing), and they get the job done well. I think their prices are very fair. Also, they often go the extra mile: Yesterday morning my car developed a strange noise. I decided it wasn't safe to drive and took an uber to a meeting I couldn't miss. I called Jeff at Midas to tell him to expect my car in his shop around 1-2pm. He said, "Don't worry, have it towed to us, we will take care of it." After my meeting, I had my car towed to Midas and they looked at it very quickly and found out that my front wheels were loose! They tightened the wheels, test drove the car and charged me nothing. There are mechanics and then there are good people who know how to work on cars. The guys here are definitely the latter. They worked with me and my wife to fix the most important things in my car not just what would make them the most money. They took calls and emails from both my wife and I as I was at work but would be the one dropping off the car. They worked with us with pricing and even dropped me back off at work after I left the car with them to be worked on. Excellent customer service, excellent work, and just generally nice people. Literally the only place I go for my car. I have been a customer here for almost a decade and they have treated me like family. Car mechanics get a bad rep for trying to rip off customers by "finding" things that need to be fixed. Not here though. Jeff and the crew would NEVER suggest any extra unnecessary "problems" that need to be fixed. They are honest to the core. I came in one time to get my headlamp fixed and it appeared to just be a loose wire when they popped the hood. Unfortunately, that wasn't the problem and the headlamp stopped working again, so I went back to get it fixed. Jeff felt bad for "inconveniencing" me and not getting it right in the first place and he refused to let me pay for the fix! Seriously! It's hard to find an honest mechanic, but since I found these guys I refuse to take my business elsewhere! read more

After the disaster that was my experience with the Toyota service department (the bolts on my exhaust literally fell off because they didn't tighten them enough and the pipe wasn't even attached anymore, and the sub-frame bolts were about to fall off also, which could have caused all kinds of problems) they tightened the loose bolts and even popped in a couple new bolts in the exhaust line for free, since I didn't have the money to pay for it at the moment... Jeff didn't want to see me leave with that kind of a major problem!!! Now that's good service!!! Thank you so much! Just had the Mercedes repaired at Encinitas Midas. This is the 2nd time we have used them and it was again a very cost effective, pleasant and positive experience. The 1st time was for brakes and they saved us over $200 on just the front brakes alone and they give us new FREE pads as they wear down! The 2nd time was for an ignition coil and again they saved us over 1/3 the cost to repair as others and used OEM parts! The diagnostic fee of $100 is waived if you decide to repair the car at Midas. I had an oil filter stuck on my Prius, couldn't do oil change. Jeff Check said bring it on in and we will break it loose. Sure enough, got in right away, they got it free, changed the filter for me. Jeff has REALLY done it again this time! Thank you Jeff. For always taking care of me when I come in for service. Let's just say I have only had issues with my Mazda Beast. Last time I went it I had to replace some sensor in my engine, this time I had to get my window fixed. Jeff went above and beyond to call Maxcare for me and figure out what my deductible was since I did not know I was even covered. As busy as the man gets, he sure seems to make the time for each customer so they receive the best customer service and feel fairly treated. I strongly recommend bringing your vehicle to this Midas shop and be sure to ask for the owner - Jeff ... all of the other staff are also very knowledgeable. I needed a new catalytic converter and an O2 sensor as per the vehicle code. Jeff found that I also had a major crack in another part in the exhaust system. His prices were fair and reasonable (way under what 2 other shops wanted to charge me), and his staff were friendly and professional. Jeff worked tirelessly to get my vehicle repaired with minimal downtime on my end. Unfortunately, I had to bring my vehicle back for the same issue, and Jeff determined it was a faulty catalytic converter. It was under warranty, and he ensured a new part was ordered, received and replaced within 24 hours. Great and trusting service. I bring two cars here regularly and am always treated fairly. Yesterday one had to be towed to this Midas with a charging system issue. Turns out it was only a defective battery i purchased from some where else. To ease my trying day, they diagnosed and installed my battery at no charge. This center was always very good. Went to Midas again today to get my tires rotated. Mathew was super friendly and got my car in right away. I wasn't charged for the rotation because it comes with the oil change. I also needed new windshield wipers, the service was super affordable and was quick. They made a number of recommendations about work that I needed done and were more than happy to work with me on an as-needed basis since I was not ready to do all of the work that they recommended. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because I just got an oil change but the service was great which means ill definitely be back! I originally came in thinking I would get my brakes done too but I didn't need it. Jeff was very nice and seemed honest about what needed to be done to my car. He could have charged me for new breaks but was honest and told me it wasn't necessary because I still had a lot of miles left. I appreciated the customer service and how fast they were. I wish I could give more stars to Midas in Encinitas and the manager Gary! My car had been making an odd noise for two weeks and I took it to Pep Boys who did the oil change right before the noise began. After waiting for 20 minutes just to explain my problem and being told I would have to wait hours since they were booked, they diagnosed it with 3 possible problems. Finally thinking it was the muffler, Pep Boys referred me to Midas- THANK GOD! I called Midas to see if they could even see me since they were closing but Gary told me to come right in and he would check it out. It took him 5 minutes of putting my car on the lift to figure out the exact problem, fix it in 5 more minutes and let me drive it to make sure the problem was corrected. No charge AND he stayed 30 minutes after closing time!! Not many places would stay past their 8 hours. I am so impressed with Midas that I will be switching all of my business to them in the future!
