Called in at 1pm and got an appointment for 2pm the same day for an oil change. They used Mobile 1 at my request to match MB recommendations (same as dealer). My car was done in about an hour, they checked my brakes for free, topped off my wiper fluid. Jeff the service manager was friendly and honest about my brakes NOT needing to be replaced yet. Since then, Jeff has become a trusted and super accommodating go-to for any and all car needs, both emergency and regular service kinds (and was even super understanding and patient with the first mysterious car issue, which that genius car dad of mine was mis-diagnosing from a distance.) Im a stereotypical girl who knows little about my car. So when it breaks down, I basically twirl my blonde hair and wait to be told there is a unicorn in my exhaust that will need to be removed in order to change my oil. When I went to Midas I had first shopped around and my estimate was 150 dollars less that both Pepboys and Evans tire to do my breaks and fix my AC. I can't tell you how many times I've come here for various things, but this Midas location has great leadership and service techs, their prices are extremely competitive and they perform great work quickly. I am here today because the dealership screwed up on an oil change appointment and left me waiting for 15-20 minutes and handled the customer service aspect so poorly. Called the day before to set an appointment for an oil change. Jeff offered me a promotion for $10 off synthetic oil change, and made sure it was applied when I got in. They took care of me in less time than they quoted me (which is fantastic, since the reason I came here rather than my typical oil change place is because they take sooooo soooooo long). They did a courtesy check and suggested an air and cabin filter by the next time I needed an oil change. No trying to sell me on it before I was out the door. I was in and out and on my way. Jovani is the best! I had a tire that was losing pressure by the second as I drove down El Camino at 5pm...I pulled in to Midas to see what was going on. Somehow I had gotten a pair of pliers stuck in my tire. Weird. These guys fixed my tire for free and had me on the road again in 5 minutes! I had a problem with Hoehn Honda regarding my Honda CRV and rear brakes. I needed rear brake pads I went on line to search for another local (Encinitas area) repair shop. After reading reviews about Midas and Jeff I decided to try them out I phoned and spoke with Jeff he said without hesitation sure bring it down and we will get you taken care of. All the reviews regarding Jeff's attitude were spot on from the minute you arrive until you leave you are actually treated like a customer you get the feeling they really appreciate you being there. I waited for the work to be done in a comfortable waiting room. 1-1/2 hour later my Honda is ready to go with a lifetime parts warranty on the brake pads. I went to Midas to get mufflers on my classic 1971 GMC jimmy. I was told it would take "about 45 minutes". I went to lunch and came back well over 2 hours later an the truck hadn't been touched. After waiting about another hour they finally got the truck into the garage and came back with an estimate of $650 for the muffler work. When I stated that was an outrageous price the response was "Well how much would you be willing to pay?" I took the truck and went directly to another muffler shop in Encinitas and got the work done for less than have of what Midas had quoted. Buyer beware. read more

It was time for an oil change and Midas was the first place that I saw with a coupon so... Not only was it a great coupon discount on an oil change, but the service was friendly and honest. When they found a problem under the car they actually walked me under it to show me what was wrong, then they gave me several options for repairing it. The AC in my truck was not working so I called around to see what different places would charge me to diagnose the problem. I called two places first and both quoted me between $100-175. I am so glad I called Midas. Jeff, the store manager, said he would do a visual inspection for free. I brought my truck in early on a Thursday and they got me right in. Jeff was great, he explained the process and the different options I had. I felt comfortable from the get go. He called me as soon as they had found the problem. He broke down the cost of the repair and got me scheduled to get it fixed when it was convenient for me. It is hard to find an auto repair company that you feel confident that they are not upselling you. I immediately felt that the guys at Midas were honest and knew what they were doing. I had another great example of why Midas is the only place I will take our cars for any service. Jeff and Ian are straight-forward and honest (not what you always find when you're in a bind with a car needing repairs). Our shocks went out on our SUV so I took it into Encinitas Midas and talked to Ian. They took a look at our car and came back with a few different solutions. We talked through it and he approached it as if it was his own car and ultimately suggested the solution that was priced in the middle. No gauging here. They did the work quickly and delivered our car back in great shape. Compliments to Jeff for running a great shop and to ownership for empowering the team there to work with customers in a no pressure rational way. I had to write an update to my review after the spectacular customer service I received today at Midas. Before finding this Midas shop, I dreaded taking my car in for work (or even an oil change) because I never felt like I could trust the manager(s) and mechanics. This Midas is truly a breath of fresh air. Jeff and Ian are the most honest and helpful people I have ever come across in the auto repair industry. I have been taking three different cars there for the past four years and each and every time I go in, they do something to amaze me. Today I took a battery in that I'd been told was defective by Autozone. I knew I'd gotten the battery from Midas but there was a problem finding a record of it in their system. Furthermore, Jeff had told me over the phone that even if it was under warranty, only a portion of a new battery would be covered. When I got to Midas and they couldn't find it in my system, Jeff walked out to my car, looked at the battery, yelled out to a mechanic to bring me a brand new one, and refused to accept payment. GO TO THIS MIDAS!!! You will never want to go anywhere else again. read more
