So appreciate having a place locally that I can trust for great customer service and accurate and honest repairs. I have been bringing my cars to this location for years for oil changes, brakes, air conditioning repairs, and basically anything my car needed. They even have let me know when they found a necessary expensive repair that it was still covered under my warranty through my car dealer, rather than have me pay them out of pocket to do the repair, which I would not have known otherwise. I've been looking for a reliable shop since I moved here almost 4 years ago from the East Coast. I've been to several different places but by far I felt I received the best service at Midas. I was very anxious about the work my car needed and had been quoted close to $700 at another shop. Jeff gave me an honest opinion, consulted me with my options and presented a coupon offer making the work come out to about $350. They didn't try to upsell me and gave me some suggestions for the future but also let me know what was imperative to do for my car to be safe. I didn't feel pressured at all to make any decisions. I decided to get the work done and they fit me in (originally only a consult scheduled) and finished before the quoted time. The guys even helped me with changing the battery on my key fob! Needed to have the orange bulb for one of my headlights replaced and kept pushing it off until I finally decided to stop by Midas today. I'm SO glad I did!! I was initially worried there would be a long wait but I was immediately greeted by the Service Manager Jovani who put Willy on the job 10 seconds later! Jovani and Willy were so knowledgeable and friendly and took the time to fix my light even though they were in the middle of other repairs. Willy changed the bulb so fast and I was out the door in less than 2 minutes! THANK YOU so much Jovani and Willy! 5 stars isn't high enough. These guys are always fantastic and very fairly priced. I've been coming her for 9 years, and I've brought 2 different vehicles here. Jeff is the shop manager and we're on a first name basis, I call and tell him my name and he knows who I am and what I need. His assistant, Jovani, is fantastic as well. Having your car worked on sucks (because it usually means hemorrhaging money), but they make a pleasure here. Don't go to a mom and pop shop thinking you're gonna get better service or prices. This is as good as it gets for basic to intermediate service. And they're franchised, not corporate, so it is a family business with a major brand name on it, but don't let corporate name turn you away. This will always be my shop as long as I'm around here! read more

I've had great experiences at other Midas shops but this what awful. I take my boyfriend's car in for an oil change and break job and they come back to me with almost $3000 worth of bull shit to fix. This included everything they could think of throwing on the list. It makes me wonder if they are trying to rip me off because I'm a woman or if that just they way they work. They quoted me $830 for breaks. That would be more than the dealership for the same amount of work. They wanted to replace the water pump (one year old), Battery (6 months old), and the wiper blades (2 months old). I'll never go back. They were no help. read more

Service was friendly, however I was ripped off with the pricing of my brake service. I have previously paid $70 per brake rotor at other Midas shops and was recently quoted that same price at big o tires. But after the service was done I was charged $112 per rotor! When I asked for an explanation I was told they put in "premium rotors". I have never heard of that and was not given any option at the time of service. Shady business! I won't be back read more

I dropped my vehicle off for an oil change at 8:30am on a Saturday. Didn't have an appointment so I was told it would be a couple of hours. That was fine by me because I was dropping it off. About 3 1/2 hours later, I hadn't heard from them so I called to check if it was done. I was told that it would be at least another 1 1/2 hours. I think waiting 5 hours for a simple oil change is ridiculous, so I picked my vehicle up and took it somewhere else where it was done in 30 minutes. I might have been more understanding of Midas if they had told me from the get go that it would be 5 hours, or if they had at least called me to tell me there had been a delay. read more

Dishonest operation guilty of typical auto repair bait and switch. They distribute a coupon for $150 brake service. I called ahead and spoke with the manager who confirmed that my model and model year was covered by the deal. So I pulled my car out of one shop where other work was being done and took it to Midas. I presented the coupon when they did the estimate, which was for brake inspection, which would be waived when the work was done. They later called offering a long list of other work to be done. I said no thank you, and that I just needed the brakes. OK I was told, that will be approximately $200. I pointed out that I was told by the manager that the $150 deal applied. No, not for my vehicle was the reply. I explained that the manager already told me it applied. I asked the service rep to have the manager to call me. Through the service rep, the manager refused to call me. This is the most dishonest business transaction I have ever experienced. Do not patronize Midas in Encinitas. read more

Admittedly, it has been quite a while since I have been in, so it may be back to the way of my original review, but it's not worth it to me to go back and find out. I took my car in for an exhaust problem, and told them what I thought I needed - that the hanger bracket from the exhaust pipe was broken, and that the exhaust center pipe may need to be replaced. I worked with Tony, the asst manager, who I thought was very customer oriented, friendly, knowledgeable, and represented the Midas brand positively. The result was their recommendation to do some welding work on the hanger bracket, and not to replace the center pipe. They put the car up on the lift and pointed out their recommendations to me. Total price: Under $30. I was impressed that they offered the 'right' option - not the one that put more revenue in their cash register today. That motivates me to come back in the future to try them again next time I have an issue, because they demonstrated that when I offered them a chance to rip me off, they didn't take advantage of the situation. read more

GREAT SERVICE AND PRICE! I was referred to Midas by a friend and I am very glad I took her advice! I was having problems with a noise my wheels were making. A month ago I got a diagnostic and a second party said both of my front wheel bearings were bad. They quoted me at 750. I took my car to Midas and Jeff the store manager told me he would take care of me and make a lifelong customer out of me. Now I will be! Jeff was personable and professional and puts customer service first. He called a shop and had the parts delivered and from the time I got there they completed the job in only one hour and the total cost was $650. I am very satisfied and will definitely be coming back for my future automotive needs. read more

I've never met a team of people at an auto service place that are so honest and transparent. I got my brakes repaired and a month later the same problem started. I took my car back and with the warranty I was all set. Problem was fixed in a few hours with no bill. I thought it was crazy that a Midas could have such amazing reviews. This place came recommended, but horrible service. A leak to my coolant led me to ask questions (I am not a mechanic). In trying to understand the problem, the service man actually told me to take my car to Toyota and pay more money. Then he filled my coolant (per my request as he had pointed out it was leaking and below the low line) and the container said "Windshield washer fluid". When I questioned him he became angry and even more rude. Decent price for brakes but poor customer service and professionalism. I would not recommend this MIdas. read more

the customer service here was horrible. the guy behind the counter was painfully slow and i sat back and listened as he disparaged people of lesser income. When I was finally greeted I asked if I could get in for an oil change. I was told they were booked for the day I looked out to the shop to see two empty bays. Wow!!! What a great experience here in Encinitas! I came in from Fresno to take care of some personal things and unfortunately had some mechanical issues with my breaks. I made a last minute appointment to get my breaks looked at, and I was not prepared for what happened. Sam instinctively knew I was preoccupied mentally and overextended his customer service to a personal and more than friendly service. I am in the hospitality industry and deal with issues all day long. It is my job to make people feel special all day long. I was blown away at the level of service Sam provided. As I sat there and listened to each customer come in and heard them on the phone, everyone received personal care and attention.
