Service is still fantastic here. I chose and purchased my tires as well as scheduled my appointment online. It was fast and easy. On the day of my appointment, I received a text from Discount Tire and via their Journey Tracker app was able to let them know when I was on my way and when I arrived. Once I dropped my car key off, the app also let me know when the car was in the service bay and when the service was completed. This transaction was so simple and streamlined, it allowed me to go to the grocery store just steps away while they worked on my car. My car was finished in just a little over 30 minutes. This location inaccurately measured the life of my tire, leading me to believe I needed to replace them all... I came by to get more air in my tires, and was told they measured at a 4, and recommended a total replacement. Today my tires were measured in front of me at the dealer, 7s in the front, 8s in the back. (My car including newer cars measures up to an 11) I always advocated and trusted Discount Tire, perhaps this person at this location was new or trying to make a sale. Either way, I've never had this happen before, and was bummed at how easily someone can be persuaded into something they don't even need yet. I got a flat tire while on vacation in Carlsbad CA. Friends suggested Discount tire in Encinitas for a spare tire. Drove there and was able to get a brand new tire in a couple of hours. They have a nice waiting room and the store is right on an outside mall so I went across and did a little shopping while I waited. I was very happy with the service and the product. However, when I got back to Los Angeles I found that the tire they charged me $495 for (Mercedes run flat) would have been $425 at my regular store in LA, Loyola Tire near LAX. I just dealt with Don the manager at this location. Needless to say he was not helpful whatsoever. I'm heading to Evan's tire because they seem to know what the heck they're doing. Not only was he rude but when I told him the type of vehicle I had he didn't want to take the time to look up the type of tires I needed because I wasn't driving that vehicle at the time. I asked him can't you just look it up and he said nope you have to know what kind of tires you've got or you have to have your car here. I found that astounding because I was in there several weeks earlier for another vehicle and the sales person looked it up and gave me a quote for several different brands of tires that would fit on my other vehicle. Needless to say Don was not helpful whatsoever. As a result of his lack of help makes me never want to go back to this location again. I stuck my head in the garage and asked an employee who is that guy over there on the far right and he says oh that's Don. I said is the manager around and he said that is the manager. Slow as always. These guys overload themselves and take in way too many appointments and lie about the ETA. So whatever time they give you then you need to triple it. If they say done at 10am. Then expect around closing time. During the sale they'll quote you a time they cannot abide by. They scanned your card and now 5 hours have passed and your car isn't even in the bay yet. I believe Corporate have trained each location to mislead the customer like this. Best bet is to drop it off and have them call you. Never wait for your car at Discount. Easy fix, is what you expect. NO, sure the tire got fixed, but I left with way bigger problems. My windshield got cracked and the side of my car got scratched. I realized about 5 minutes after driving, I picked up my dad because I am 20 year old girl. When we arrived back to tell them about the damage THEY CAUSED. All that happened was them screaming in my dad's face, demanding they did nothing wrong. Now my broke college ass has to pay for the deductible for my new windshield. This past week, Junior helped me pick out the best set for my car and driving habits. They have an unbelievably good warrantee that pro rates select tires and saved me a good amount of money this time around. went in for regular rotation with 3 of 4 tires showing too low in air pressure. car came back with tires rotated with same three tires still too low. i brought it right back in and told them and the guy said "you have to drive it a little for the tire pressure sensor to reset. i thought this sounded like total BS but i figured i would give them the benefit of a doubt. a month later and still showing too low until i put the air in myself. amd guess what - the tire sesnsor immediately registered the change. a tire store that doesnt check pressure? thats basic stuff. read more

Went in today to just order 4 tires and schedule an install in a few days. (Encinitas location) Waited for 10 minutes on line and then was told that it would be another 15 minutes just to get someone to take my tire order. I expressed to the Manager (I think) that it should not take 25 minutes an a slow Tuesday morning to take a tire order. He suggested that I just order online and I then recommended perhaps he is under staffed and he should hire more people and that this is not reasonable. With all the tire companies in the area, I went to the competitor down the street and quickly orders my 4 tires. I had been a loyal customer for years but no more. Tire prices are competitive and the manager, Junior, is wonderful, but I scheduled an appointment a week in advance and when I got there, I waited an entire hour before they even pulled my car up - I was told when I got there that it would take 35-40 minutes maximum. I was handed a flyer from a stack in the drawer. Don, the manager, told me to drive to a shop in San Marcos to have it fixed. 30 minute drive each way plus 1 hour to repair, it took 2 hours from my work day to fix the damage they caused to my mother's car. Scheduled an appointment online which was fast and convenient. I arrived for my appointment 5 minutes early. I was told when I handed in my keys that it should be approx. 1 hour to fix my flat with a nail in it, even with an appointment. I was also told it could be 3 hours without an appointment. At that point I guess I considered myself lucky. The employee told me appointments move up the line in front of walk in orders behind my appointment time. Apparently this must not be the system. I waited, & waited, and it took 1 hour for them to even move my car inside. Then another 30 minutes from there to fix 1 nail on 1 tire. I probably could have gone to the counter and asked them for updates but I was trying not to pester the desk. People who came in after me (no appointments) and bought new tires had their cars finished and left. I have purchased from Discount Tire for over 20 years, have multiple business vehicles and a couple of personal cars. I have spent large amounts over the years at Discount Tire. I have to say this Encinitas store is one of the worst of the 3 Discount Tire locations I have come to. To be fair they were not selling me $800.00 worth of tires today. The flat tire was part of a previous $850.00 order at the Discount Tire in Escondido. The Escondido store is not as glamorous as this Encinitas store but it runs like a machine. I will try in the future to only return to the Escondido store. The whole appointment concept at this Encinitas store appears to be based on sales. read more

They are very dishonest to the point of pure corruption. Their "free" service to add air in your tires comes with a price. If your tire has a leak your tire will never be new enough to pass their thread wear test. The tech told me the tire was relatively new after his scan, which I knew because I bought it there a few months ago. I asked the tech to mark it as passed so he did. But when Patrick the sales guy came out to ok for a patch of course it was worn beyond the point to patch it. Told him the tech just scanned it so he went over to the tech and screamed at him for being honest. The place is run by Patrick and he is dishonest to the point of corruption. They need to be sued to stop them from ripping people off. read more
