I had called Furgerson's last week and made an appointment for rat repellant installation for 1/24 at 8:30am. When I arrived they couldn't find my appointment, however, they were able to accommodate me right away. They also checked my tire pressure which was so nice. Peter was very professional and kind. I look forward to working with Furgerson's in the future! read more

Took my 2017 Acura RDX in for an issue with the AC. Received an estimate of $2400 to replace the AC compressor which seemed a bit high, but I assumed most of the cost was for the compressor. However, it turned out the compressor was $700, and the labor was $1700. I complained about the labor cost for what should have been less than a days job, but Furgerson's tried to explain it was justified. In fact, they claimed they have lower labor costs than other shops in the area. I felt I had been gouged and don't plan on returning to Furgerson's. read more

I called Ferguson's Garage for a smog. They scheduled me right in. Very friendly and helpful. I dropped my car off, went and had lunch at one of the many nearby restaurants. Within 20 minutes I was texted my car was ready to pick up, just as I finished lunch. Great, convenient service. read more

Very prompt & knowledgable. Excellent pricing. They give service recommendations without upselling like the service writers at the dealerships do. read more

The staff at Furgerson's was very welcoming, very focused on customer satisfaction, very professional, and very fast in taking care of the smog check required by the DMV! I will absolutely take my business there again! read more

Just by asking the right questions you can tell that this place has gone down hill since 2009. They only offer standard services, nothing more, nothing less, and they will decline to work on your vehicle if the issue is not easy to fix which means replace parts. Forget about bringing anything here that is other than factory. They will decline repairs and call you after you dropped it off. Don't let them waste your time. There are shops a few miles away that have real mechanics, Buddy at Future Automotive and Mark at About Service. They work on everything and have earned 5 stars. I brought my FJ in, asked a few questions, and walked out.....They talk down to you and the guy at the front desk is an AI Gen Z type, not a person. read more

Fergersons got my sons truck running great. He has a old Chevy and they replaced the distributor. Running really nicely now.

I was referred to Furgerson's from another garage that was unable to do the job that I needed. He referred me to Rich and I couldn't have been in better hands. Nick, Rich and Miguel were all professionals and really sympathetic to my situation in what I needed. I really appreciated their willingness to get it done properly and they were super fair on the price. They also gained a new regular customer. read more

I called to see what the wait time was for a smog check and they said were able to do it in about an hour from then (I called right at lunch time). I showed up an hour later and they immediately pulled my car up and started the smog test. No waiting around at all. I was in and out in about 20 minutes. Fast, freindly, and knowledgeable. I would definitely recommend them for anybody in need of a smog test. read more

This place will rip you off. Be careful and know what you're getting. Otherwise they'll take advantage of you.

Very nice people, and I felt like i got a good deal! I'll be using them again in the future

Greeted on time for appointment. The dialogue with Brian was extremely helpful. They accommodated my need for my car on the weekend. The TAT on the repair was 50% less time. I have found my mechanic partner for my Fiat! Thank you read more

Brought car to check air conditioning. Found a leak requiring a major repair. Wanted to have them recharge to allow us to get home 400 miles away. They wouldn't do because of environmental laws. We were disappointed and another shop did it. But respect their decision and found them to be very competent and reasonable. read more

Went in for a full vehicle inspection after trying two other places and they were super helpful and really honest. We talked about how strict these inspections can be and they let us know most cars don't pass the first time because a variety of reasons but these guys were very sincere and transparent with how they handle everything. Thank god I brought my car here because they let me know all the major things we needed for it to pass this time around and got it taken care of. An honest and respectful business. Trust these guys forsure. read more

We've had 6 cars into this shop for various reasons, with 4 fails. Okay he latest is an unusual response. I had a 1990 Vanagon in to add an auxiliary battery and ironically the gas tank was punctured and had to turn around to bring back. They claim it wasn't their doing. I replaced the tank with them. During the prior visit I also had wiring worked on for an electric window. 7m and 138 miles later, the window jo longer works. They are no longer working on "classic" vehicles from that era, won't honor warrantee and literally exaggerated the time since it was in his new I asked for paperwork from the supplier, stating, "I can look around, but we don't generally have paperwork from 8 months ago..". I would t suggest this shop for anything more than smog checks. read more

After experiencing some problems with communication during my car repair, I heard immediately from the management team. They took the time to explain and more importantly to listen to my concerns. The car repair has been great and now I will only go to Furgerson's garage for all of our car repair work. I highly recommend this organization and their commitment to customer satisfaction. Thank you all. read more

We had condensation in one of our headlights and found out the only way to fix it was to replace the entire headlight unit! The cost of the part was $1700! I went shopping and found the same unit that was used, but worked well and had a guarantee for $500! So I called Fergusons and asked if they would install it for me, but was told they only install new parts through them. I asked what they would charge for the part and installation and they said "$2600!" Wow. That meant they were adding their profit to the part and charging four hours of time for installation. Then I called my car dealership, who said they would replace the entire headlight including installation for $1960! Translation: Furgursons Garage jacked the cost $600 over the dealership cost! I don't have an issue with the quality of work done by Furgersons but there is no doubt they are the most expensive garage in Encinitas. read more

I needed to smog my vehicle...the mister has always taken care of that (and before him...my dad did)... neither are an option at the moment...so it was on me. between working and being a mommy chauffeur i didn't know what to do! I called my mom and asked her ...well.... --i could take it to the dealer (which is where it has always been smogged)...but i didn't want to drive that far. --i could go to the local gas station...but out the door would be like $60 -mom is a winner...she brought a coupon over to my house for Furgerson's Garage. I guess this is where my dad always took our cars. I called to make an appt but it was already closed for the day (on a friday)...they are only open M-F...so had to wait till Monday (and it's a holiday so no work or driving kids!) monday 9 am...got an appt for 11:30... of course the 5 north was down to 1 one because of some horrific accident...no i wasn't happy sitting in it...but i was better off than the people in the accident (hope they are ok) finally made it...about 30 minutes late). It wasn't a problem at all. they told me 30 min. I went for a short walk and was back in front of the shop after 20 min and my car was done! paid...$37 out the door. friendly, efficient, affordable...and plenty to do while you wait for your car. oh and they have an after hours drop off if you want to leave your cars/keys over the weekend! nice! thanks guys...i have 2 more cars with registration coming up, if they need a smog i'll be back! read more

INCREDIBLY HONEST and always surpised at how well my 2 cars have run, after a visit to Furgerson's ! About 20 years or so ago, we had an older Dodge v-10 Truck and Bryan fixed whatever problem it was having and when I got it back, it ran like no other ! Tuned to perfection. He kept that 1996 truck running amazing, as it was by then "sentimental". Also, the other day my older Benz had a problem and when I left there was NO charge, as Justin had seen on the records that they had fixed the similar/same problem a year or two ago. I might not have looked back over my records and found this, so THANKS for that !!! INCREDIBLE ! read more

This place is A+ from start to finish. Every person on their staff is communicative and friendly. The managers are super transparent and crazy fast with estimates too. I was in a tough situation when I arrived at Furgerson's and had no clue how to handle it, but throughout the entire process, I felt cared for and comfortable asking questions. Thank you, especially to Brian, who has gone above and beyond in our time working together. I'll truly never recommend another mechanic (or visit one myself) after this experience. read more

Furgerson's Garage - Auto Repair Near Me - Encinitas, California

This is the best mechanic I've ever been to, and I've been to several. They offer the best prices and the best service. It took me a while to give them a try. I have an older vehicle - 2001 Toyota Celica - and ne fed urgent service but Fergusons is always busy (now I understand why!!!) I went to Scott's first because they are closer to where I live. I had an oil leak and another leak I thought was water because it would evaporate from the concrete of my parking space. The oil leak was worse after Scott's, and my check engine light indicated misfiring which apparently is dangerous, so I took it to the dealership service. They charged me a lot of money to fix a lot of things and the vehicle still wasn't driveable. During a very stressful time (job interviews and pet hospitalization) I took my car to fergusons as a last resort and was so impressed with their service! Within a few days my vehicle was drivable and they found a major issue that somehow Scott's AND the dealership had missed: I had a major fuel leak. How they missed that is beyond me. The vehicle was clearly leaking fluids and my fuel tank kept emptying but I didn't make the connection until fergusons recommended replacing the fuel injectors, and nothing more. The dealership had wanted to dig into my internal engine (super expensive) and fergusons guys knew that wasn't necessary. They used their expertise to solve the puzzle two places couldn't. The best part was the DETAILED service statement they sent me conveniently by text! Never before have I seen anything like it. They explained their thought process and were so kind. Absolutely impressed with their service, especially Evan. Evan was so knowledgeable, personable, and approachable. I didn't feel intimated or concerned at all. I immediately trusted him. Thank you Evan for being an incredible advisor through this process. Fergusons has earned my trust and I will go to only them moving forward. I wish I had tried them sooner, would have saved me a lot of frustration and money. Thanks again Evan! You guys are LIFESAVERS. read more

Requested transmission fluid change & seals changed. Said it was checked without moving vehicle saying fluid was chunky black with debris and entire transmission needed replacing. I consider myself to have an above average car IQ and try to do most car maintenance myself. My cousin is a former mechanic and when things get complicated, I would have him help me out. When the turbo wastegate needed to be changed out in our BMW 335i, we decided it would be a pain to DIY and we probably didn't have the computer to reset/calibrate it if needed. My cousin recommended Furgerson's and we got a great quote to do it. The initial estimate was 4 hours of labor. Four days later, we pick up the car. The shop admitted it took "a little longer" than usual which is usually a telltale that they don't have that much experience doing such a repair on this type of car. But, hey, everyone needs to learn sometime. When we drove the car home, the windshield wiper fluid level sensor came on and the coolant level sensor came on as well. I was charged $80 to replace coolant so we wondered why the car would be low on coolant. There was fluid leaking and I determined it to be windshield wiper fluid. This was never an issue before I dropped off the car. The coolant reservoir, wastegate, and windshield fluid reservoir are all in the same vicinity--on the passenger side of the car in the engine bay. I have an OBD-II scanner so I checked the codes. We figured there was a loose hose somewhere and they didn't connect it together correctly. We didn't touch anything because if the shop did it, then they should fix it. I brought the car back a total of 3 times after that because they couldn't figure it out. Coolant level was fine but obviously they denied they did anything to the wiper fluid reservoir. They wanted to charge $200 for just diagnosing it again but I fought them on that. Then they decided the coolant reservoir and sensor needed to be replaced because it was bad and wanted to charge another $500 for that. I declined and decided to fix it ourselves. THEY DID NOT PLUG IN THE COOLANT SENSOR. $0 fix for that for me. The wiper fluid reservoir was cracked. It is possible that they didn't cause it because it was in the wheel well but I did not want to give them the benefit of the doubt since they could not figure out the coolant sensor was unplugged...or maybe they just wanted to drum up more business. I wanted to leave one star but they get another star for fixing the wastegate. read more

Furgerson's Garage was awesome. I made an appointment by calling in, when I arrived the service advisor was happy to greet me. We went out to my car and got the information from it and was told around when it would be done. A short time later I got an inspection report sent right to my phone with pictures that showed me how dirty my air filter was! They take great pride in how well they take care of their customers here. I got another text when my car was all finished. When I came in to pick up my car, the process was more of the same with great service and smiles all around. Even the mechanic thanked me for coming in today! read more

I have brought my work truck in to Furgersons garage on two different issues and both times done professionally, on time and the mechanics there know what they are doing they are certified and not your backyard grease monkey's. Sure may cost a little more than your corner mechanic but you get professionals that work on your vehicle, that are knowledgeable and they got it right each time for me. read more

Had such an awesome experience here today. We had some sputtering with our car in idle and finally brought it in this morning as it seemed to be getting worse. The customer service was out of this world. It is so hard to find genuine honest service these days. They were able to fix all of our car's issues and get us out by the end of the day. They even went above and beyond by providing a ride home for us while they worked on the car. This is my go-to mechanic now; it should be yours too. read more
