Guy is super rude, didn't make it 5 minutes before I walked out, definitely won't waste another minute there.

Brought my 73 Chevy in. Keith is extremely knowledgeable. Had my carburetor replaced.

If I could give lower than one star i would. I am a long time resident of N County coast and actually when Keiths was in Solana Beach he did work for me successfully. I had a minor taillight issue on a vintage car i just restored and thought I would take it to Keith and re engage with his business. Turns out this was a terrible decision. Both he as well as the other individual (his Son?) were rude and disrespectful. I ended up paying $250 for his "diagnostic" to find they just did not appear willing to work with me on a solution that made economic sense. By far the most disagreeable business owners i have encountered in years. Do yourself a favor and take your business elsewhere! read more

Eric and Keith are my "go-to" whenever my 74 C20 needs service. They're knowledgeable and personable, and they do quality work for a fair price. From tracking down complex electrical faults to converting air-conditioner systems, they are the guys I trust to do it right. read more

Over the years I've had Keith fix a couple of electrical issues on several cars. Stopped in to ask a question. Unfortunately he's turned into the cranky old man, that didn't know when to pull out and retire. Turn it over to your son while you still can. And for god sake's brush up on your people skills. read more

Eric is amazing!!! Cranky Keith? He's always been cranky. Get to know him and you'll probably agree. But they handle their customers and situations accordingly. They did me a solid years ago and I still owe them for that.... Not money, but recognition. You can go to Charlie's on 2nd (if they still exist), or you can get down true feeling and reality with Eric, who will spell it straight and do the best he can to properly fix your issue at an affordable rate. read more

Very good job diagnosing my old Ford and repairing what we chose to have done. Communication was great with both Eric and Keith. Highly recommended for your old car troubles and woes. Bring those old treasures back to life! read more

*** Stop searching! Take your car here*** I took my 1979 Ford Bronco to Keith's and he fixed it fast and at a great price!! Keith's came well recommended and gave them a try. I got a call for Keith that my truck needed a repair worth $908. The part itself was quoted at $600+ plus labor. I asked if there were options..."Napa sells it for $900" (Later on, I checked and they sell it for $360.) I said OK fix it because it wasn't running, my super busy schedule and needed it fixed ASAP. My gut feeling said to look into it. Found the part for $287 and called my usual mechanic. He found the problem was a fuze just a FUZE. Less than $10. Quoted for $908. Running a business and ripping people off are two different things. Keith, Welcome to technology age. People can google prices and figure it out. Need I say more? read more

Keith is a bit of a short temper kind of guy. Maybe he was having a bad day when he got all mad over the phone when I decided to do a repair myself after hearing cost. He just needs to retire or hire a nice front person. I have no complaints about simple work he has done on my vehicle. As a business owner myself -I know some customers are a pain in the rear but you just have to be nice and polite. It is not like I wasted his time! I paid $150. for a 10 minute diagnosis. read more

I've known Keith for 25 years. He can fix any electrical problem. I once worked for a small local car dealer and Keith was always our go-to guy. I also had an experience where a friend - who always took his fancy car to the dealer - had a stubborn electrical issue. He insisted "only the dealer could fix it" - well they couldn't - so they sent him to an "expert" and sure enough, it was Keith. read more

I took my Pathfinder to Keith to fix an electrical issue. Keith rewired the charging system but did not check the battery. After two additional trips to Keith's the vehicle was confirmed to be repaired by Keith, but my battery still wouldn't hold a charge. Keith did not even suggest checking the battery. I took it upon myself to replace the battery and since then have had no issue with the electrical system. While the vehicle was initially at Keith's he suggested front and rear brakes needed to be replaced. I had not experienced any issues at this point but followed his recommendation. After the brakes were repaired by replacing the brake pads and brake fluid, the brakes failed to stop us and we nearly hit a car. The vehicle was taken back to Keith's and he suggested replacing the master cylinder for $432. So we did that. We got it back and on the next trip, the brakes failed again. We took the vehicle back to Keith and he demanded we pay $135 to diagnose the problem. I specifically asked him what he was going to diagnose for $135. At this point, he suggested we find another shop. I asked him to replace the front brake pads which he had originally replaced and he refused. I took the vehicle to a second shop, and they replaced the front brake pads noting that the pads that Keith used were cheap and pitted. They also noted that the brake fluid was dirty after Keith replaced the fluid on the original brake job and the master cylinder (approximately less than 300 miles ago). Keith refused to reimburse me for any portion of the brake repair and contested my complaint with the credit card company. He is extremely unprofessional and I would never recommend this shop to anyone because he is an unprofessional mechanic and businessman. read more

Keith is great! He is very knowledgeable and accommodating. You can tell you are in good hands with him. Prices are very fair.

Long Story Short after paying near 10,000 to Keith i had to tow my Bronco to another mechanic spend another $9000 to do exactly what he was hiered to do. Watch out he is a lyer and doesnt know what he is doing. Oh ya and he had my vehicle over 6 months.. He did howerever make my vehicle more dangerous by installing a clip on my excelerator to keep the RPMs higher so the vehicle wouldnt die. I was a time bomb with the amount of fuel being fed threw my system. read more

I'm going to keep this simple because, quite candidly, I'm not feeling too witty anymore esta noche, and how much can you really expect from an auto shop review? "Um, well, they can give your 'mobile a tune-up, find you a new engine, repair tires and carborators and they have oil on their fingers." Pretty standard auto shop stuff, right? What's not standard is that you get the feeling that you can actually trust Keith and his colleague (Eric?), and from experience I know that you can. Instead of charging me $75 for a part that he could easily have slid on my bill without my dumbass noticing, Keith gave me a way to MacGyver a solution for about $2, American cash that is. Seriously folks, how may of you can honestly say that your mechanic is more interested in saving you money than charging for work that doesn't need to be done? Hands up now.....that's right, none of you....shut up smug person in the back. Nobody likes you anyway. So if you live anywhere between Del Mar and Oceanside, go to Keith's for your automotive repair needs. It's worth the trip to know that you won't be getting ripped off, and furthermore, you'll have someone that looks out for your best interests while working on your car. read more

Long story short, every time they have one of our cars or trucks they managed to mess something else up. Installing an electric window motor- scratched up the tint. Change the oil- broke the halo light ballast "why the f?$@ is that there anyway?" Well Keith it's aftermarket. It cost me a lot of money and I liked the look.... "It's $#!T, illegal and you wasted your money!" Ummmmmm so you're not going to fix it? Exhaust header leak- 4 attempts at repair before just giving up and cursing me for buying an old "P.O.S." (RPM in oceanside, $25 first try) Here's a test, go look at the cars around the shop, impressive yes. Now go back a week later..... A month later..... Every six months...... Oh, same cars? Have you ever taken your car in for repairs and paid less than what you were initially quoted? I hadn't, either, until I went to Keith's Automotive last week. From my 2 different experiences with Keith's (1. Alternator, done RIGHT, after having been done almost right elsewhere, twice, and lasting a few months; and 2. Great mechanic. Feels like you are at home. John Smith

Keith was super cocky and rude. It is annoying when people lack customer service skills. He tried to belittle my understanding of the problem over the phone. Once I got to his shop he was just cold and rude and he tried to charge a different price then the quote on the phone. I would avoid this place, there are plenty of competent mechanics who respect their costumers. They deserve your business not Keith's Automotive Electric. read more

Great honest service and pricing!! All of our vehicles have been going to Keith's Automotive for years for repairs. We found them year ago when in need of a repair for electrical issues, (their specialty). Then found they can do it all. They are great mechanics, honest and pricing is also very reasonable. I have referred friends with issues and they have shopped around and agree. My children are now grown with families and they both take all their vehicles there as well. I don't go anywhere else! read more

I took my sick 1971 Ford F100 in for some electrical work. Keith is a very laid-back and extremely knowledgeable. He's definitely a hot-rod enthusiast (if you stop by, check out some of the cool vehicles he's working on). Anyways, I felt like I could trust him from the start, and he actually did steer me away from having some work done that would've cost me a whole lot more than was necessary. He did a good job on my truck, fixed the charging system, brake lights, and adjusted the steering - had it out in less than a day too! Price was reasonable, not a bargain - but fair. You get what you pay for. Without a doubt, I will go back next time the need arises. read more

Keith and Eric provide the type of service and attention to detail most of us only dream of. Their knowledge and personal attention give you the confidence to know your problem will be handled with the same focus you would have working on you own vehicle if you had their skills. I was a week away from expired tags that required a smog test. I have a Dodge pickup with a Cummings diesel. About 6 weeks ago I took it to someone that specializes in this truck and it came back running better than ever but the check engine light was on which is an automatic failure for smog. I took it back and after replacing some sensors in the transmission it ran better but that light was still shining. He determined that I needed a new PCM which is about $300.00 and he would install it in a week. Ok I still have a week but he forgot to order the PCM so now time was running out. I researched my truck online and found that the PCM seldom fails. So after researching mechanics with a strong electrical back ground I came up with Keith's. I had used him 4 or 5 years ago for an electrical issue on an old VW. I called him on Monday he was able to take the truck the following day. By the end of the day he had the problem isolated and it didn't need a PCM. There was one issue remaining and that was the slight problem of being able to start the truck in gear. The following morning Keith found the culprit. Previous mechanics had patched into the wrong circuits and was playing havoc with the computer. The truck is running even better and I got it passed smog and I went to AAA and got my renewed registration. I'm not sure why Keith's Automotive Electric has three pages of filtered reviews but they are mostly 5 stars and I am completely satisfied and feeling pretty smart with myself for bailing on my mechanic and taking the truck to Keith's. read more

I would rate it lower if I could!!!! I took my Ford Expedition in because my turning signals were not working. I left my car there so they could try to find the problem. They called my back right away and told me I needed a entire new electric panel and it was $645.00 to fix. I thought it was rather strange that they diagnosed it so quickly because the last time I had an electrical problem the company kept my car for a few days and ran several tests to pin point the problem. I paid them to replace the panel and my signals stopped working two weeks later!!!! I just paid $645 and they diagnosed it wrong. To make matters worst when I came back to tell them my signals weren't working again the guy at the front desk was extremely rude and unprofessional and didn't make any effort to fix the problem. I was so upset after talking to him I went someplace else to fix my car. The other company kept my car for 4 days and fixed the problem for less than $300. I later emailed Keith's Automotive explaining the situation - giving them a change to fix their error and they never responded. This is the worst customer service I have ever receiver on any auto. SAVE YOUR MONEY AND GO SOMEPLACE THAT ACTUALLY CARES ABOUT THEIR CUSTOMERS!!! read more
