It's never easy trying to find an auto shop that you can completely trust, I went through a few quotes before I came across Pinpoint. I was told by most places that the problem was with the rotors and it would be at least $500, the highest price I got was from pep boys for only the front rotors and brakes priced at $1,500 (ridiculous). I contacted Pinpoint as my last hope because I was tired of the amount of shops I already contacted only to be ripped off. They told me initially ~$359. I couldn't believe it at first, I was like this is a new scam. But, I decided to pull up, and they not only found the actually problem but said it was going to cost less than they initially quoted me! Safe to say if I left a fresh pack of gum in my car I'd trust them to not grab a piece, or in another way if I left $1,000 in my car I'd bet that not a single dollar was missing. I have a 95 F-150 that has seen dozens of mechanics in its lifetime, many of which have lied to me and price gouged me. Specifically in the span of this past month, after it stalled while I was driving it, I went through 8 mechanics who either refused service, didn't have the right tools, or just simply didn't know what to do with it. Thankfully Chris at Pinpoint was the 9th (and final) mechanic. Chris and George were both competent, kind, and communicative every step of the way. They treated me respectfully and Chris was dedicated to finding and fixing the problem properly - he even notified me that the ECU I had installed by a previous shop had likely been stripped from a junkyard vehicle (that shop had charged me full price and neglected to tell me it wasn't a new part). When all was said and done, I was charged very fairly for both the parts and labor. But George and his partner made it happen and I felt as a customer, valued and taken care of. As someone who knows nothing about cars, I felt as though they were honest, transparent and real with me on what I needed and didn't charge me an arm and leg. It's Ironic to rediscover Chris and this shop. I actually hired Chris many MANY years ago when I ran a competing shop in Oceanside. I had to retire when I became too disabled to work and thought Chris had left California. Now I stumbled across him and it will now be HIM taking care of ME:-) It is more than Chris is also a Former Marine like myself. He is a man with integrity. He has more wisdom and natural ability on all things mechanical than ANYONE I ever met in my 66 years. I have never seen him even consider overcharging anyone or selling work not needed. He goes beyond caring for owners cars, he cares about their owners as well. There was never a day in all our years working together that I ever saw Chris lose his temper with a customer or with a vehicle. His work was always as good as it gets and so was his attitude. I am thrilled to find him again, even though I only need a new battery now for my wife's old Toyota truck.
