I chose Johns based on the owner's response, offering us a repair option the next day (New Year's Eve) at a reasonable price. This is a family-owned and hands-on operated business. It's located just east of the Albertsons on East Valley Pkwy. The shop is large. Service was excellent, as was telephone and text communication with the shop. Overall, I had an outstanding auto repair experience here and look forward to using them again for auto repairs.

We were far away in Michigan coordinating the work. It felt like we could have been easily talked into unnecessary work and a much bigger bill. The work got done in the timetable we needed. BUYER BEWARE…read more Unfortunately I had to come and replace my once GLOWING TESTIMONIAL with a now, regrettably revised version, now that I have all the facts. Fact of the matter is that after having spent $4596.39 at this place that OVERLOOKED MAJOR COMPONENTS during my vehicle service as verified by Encinitas Ford I was obligated to update my review accordingly. The facts are as follows; 1) I am on disability and only get $1200/monthly and these people totally extorted me by not servicing my vehicle correctly 2) I trusted them to take care of my vehicle and they didn't (BUYER BEWARE/Careful who you trust) 3) I had to incur EXTRA COSTS as a low income person to inspect their work that substantiated this place overlooked key components related to the service requested (TRANSMISSION SERVICE) 4) After spending FIVE MONTHS OF MY INCOME my truck is STILL NOT UP TO PAR. I will be paying off this debt for the next year and a half of my life all while my truck is not even repaired correctly.

Call me a fan! After…read moreover 30 years, my trusted, go-to mechanic closed his shop. I was at a loss for where to find another honest, reliable, knowledgeable auto mechanic shop. After a lot of Yelp research, I found Escondido Auto Tech. I brought my vehicles for a smog and got great service each time. Found them easy to work with too. Next, I brought in my car for maintenance and a list of repairs and items to check on. Let me not bore with the mundane details, just know: -they took good care of the car, addressing every item on my list. -Frank, the service manager, took the time to discuss the list of repairs with me and explained what they would do-to make sure we were on the same page with everything. He listens! In fact, when he received the list (which I'd emailed ahead of time) he immediately spotted a safety issue and reached out to me to get it addressed promptly. -they finished the work AHEAD of the promised completion time -took the trouble to score parts at a lower price than quoted (and passed on the savings!) -provided a detailed completed work order with information I about my vehicle that I found valuable. Like I said, call me a fan!

I would rate Escondido German Auto more than (5) stars!!!!…read more I've been taking my car to the same Porsche dealership, where I bought it, for all of its maintenance services in the past 10 years. I knew I was paying more because I thought I was getting the best service and care for my car. I was wrong. A couple of weeks ago, my Boxster needed a clutch/flywheel replacement so I had it towed to the Porsche dealership for repair. (The clutch would not engage.) Porsche quoted me a ridiculous amount; 60% more than what they initially quoted me a few months prior when my transmission was just beginning to act up. I stopped by Escondido German Auto for a second opinion. (I've read about their excellent reviews on Yelp.) Austin, the service advisor, provided me his best guess of the possible issues, without seeing my car, based on what I described to him about my car's behavior. He sounded credible and was very professional, and he also gave me a more reasonable estimated quote. I was also very impressed by their clean, open service bays. I took a chance and had my car towed from the Porsche dealership to Escondido German Auto. Escondido German Auto did a thorough inspection and a detailed breakdown of the proposed work on my car; way better job than the Porsche dealership ever did. They also discovered a rodent nest and damage to the wiring harness of my car that the Porsche dealership missed. Brandon, the technician, did an outstanding job repairing my clutch/flywheel, documenting (including photos) the rodent issues for my car insurance claim, and cleaning and fixing the rodent damage. Austin, on the other hand, updated me daily regarding the work progress. He was always accessible via email, text, and phone. The job was completed in a timely manner; within a few days of bringing my car in. They even cleaned my car prior to returning it to me. Additionally, they emailed me a copy of my CARFAX report a few days later; unexpectedly. (That was the first time I've seen a CARFAX report of my car.) Overall, I am 100% satisfied with my experience with Escondido German Auto! Customer service, quality of work, professionalism, trustworthiness, and price are unmatched!! They've definitely earned my business and I will no longer be taking my car to the Porsche dealership. My Boxster now runs, sounds, and feels like a new car again, and I can't help but grin each time I get behind the wheel; thanks to Austin and Brandon! They were awesome! My wife will also start bringing her BMW X5 to them instead of the BMW dealership for service.
