Call me a fan! After over 30 years, my trusted, go-to mechanic closed his shop. I was at a loss for where to find another honest, reliable, knowledgeable auto mechanic shop. After a lot of Yelp research, I found Escondido Auto Tech. I brought my vehicles for a smog and got great service each time. Found them easy to work with too. Next, I brought in my car for maintenance and a list of repairs and items to check on. Let me not bore with the mundane details, just know: -they took good care of the car, addressing every item on my list. -Frank, the service manager, took the time to discuss the list of repairs with me and explained what they would do-to make sure we were on the same page with everything. He listens! In fact, when he received the list (which I'd emailed ahead of time) he immediately spotted a safety issue and reached out to me to get it addressed promptly. -they finished the work AHEAD of the promised completion time -took the trouble to score parts at a lower price than quoted (and passed on the savings!) -provided a detailed completed work order with information I about my vehicle that I found valuable. Recommended - I needed a STAR smog station and decided to come here. The one thing with Escondido Auto Tech is you're going to need to make an appointment. The place is pretty busy and I'm not sure what your success rate would be as a walk-in. Check in was fast, car was kept clean, and they even did a free brake / tire inspection. Escondido Auto Tech is a sister shop to Owen's just down the street. That's another shop I recommend. Tip- 10% discount on first visit. Might be better to use that on a larger, more expensive repair than just a smog check. read more

We had transmission coolant hose failure while driving, Had to stop and have our SUV towed to Escondido Auto Tech middle of the night. Never worked with them before but did a search of qualified mechanics with great feedback. Once towed, I Filled out an envelope explaining problems, placed the key fob inside and dropped it in the dropbox. This place truly lives up to their rating! It's so hard to find honest and reputable places now a days and EAT is definitely IT! Went in on 5/9 for a brake inspection due to some squeaky-ness and was informed I needed new pad/rotors. They presented the estimate and gave me and my husband the option to replace fully or a cheaper option of "grinding" down so they last a little longer. Took the more expensive option just so it was a one and done thing vs coming back in a few months! The gentleman that helped me get everything situated was very kind and made small talk while he typed everything in! Even made sure to contact my husband with the info as well since im "just a girl" haha! Everything went smoothly or so we thought! Fast forward to today 5/22 as my husband was driving into work he received an alert on the car that indicated "braking power low" We took it into the dealership since reading on this sounds like it could be a system issue known to our vehicle and possible recall! Got the call from the dealership that we had leaking brake fluid due to the bolt not being replaced properly! How scary. By this time im a bit annoyed because we had been driving with leaking brake fluid for about 2 weeks...no other issues presented THANKFULLY. I called EAT which I admit I was a bit heated and spoke with Ben..he was absolutely wonderful on the phone yet again which I do apologize if you are reading this for being snapped! Said that we could bring the car to him for repair since the dealership needed to replace bolts and bleed the lines again which would have been almost the cost of the original brake job! Crazy. Husband picked up our vehicle from the dealership to find out they ended up doing the repair (no cost) and we only paid the diagnostic fee. The dealership advised us to check with EAT to refund that fee since it was unfortunately an error on their part. So here my husband goes to EAT and he speaks with Brad. He refunded the diagnostic fee that the dealership charged us IN A HEARTBEAT. No questions asked. He looked over the dealer notes and apologized for the overlook. Absolutely outstanding customer service and satisfaction on his part. Needless to say if you read this entire review I 100% would return if I needed further work done. Mistakes happen. 2013 Dodge Challenger, They were very responsive to my inquiries. Much more than the Dealer. Once the issue was diagnosed, they kept me informed through the repair process. Even when the wrong part arrived. Total repair time was 2 days, While the end cost was was 10% less than the dealer estimate. I felt better about talking my car to them as they have earn the business vs the dealer that has a built in audience I would take my car back to them. read more

Our minivan needed some rear brake work done as well as some work on a power sliding door. Getting an appointment with Escondido Auto Tech was easy and done over the phone. Car was dropped off in the morning on the appointment date and later Frank called to discuss the recommended repairs his technician identified. I was very happy with the explanation for why the repairs were recommended and that the issue with the brakes wasn't as bad as I had feared. Honest shop. I've done small issues like smogging to larger issues like replacing a clutch and the repairs were done well, timely and at a fair market rate.
