Free Auto is #1 regarding quality, fair-priced work. I use and recommend the team here for ALL auto work. I've had multiple friends use them and come back to thank me. read more

I have been using Freer Auto Repair for about 20 years now. I will NOT take my cars anywhere else. Tony is a competent and honest mechanic that runs his place that way. Over the last two decades Tony has fixed several types of issues with multiple cars that I have owned (two boys that have cars, my wife's and my cars). And of course the routine oil change & checkout for all of our vehicles. You don't get your car washed and vacuumed - but, you get excellent service and satisfaction that what Tony said he did, got done. Important things like tire rotation and filter inspections are done instead. I have had multiple cars with over 140k of miles that I put on (drive regionally for my job) with comfort in knowing that they were in top shape. I drive places like the middle of the Mojave so it is very important for me to know my car is in top shape. One last comment - The guy takes his mechanics to lunch every Friday religiously. That says a lot right there. read more

Tony and his crew are the only mechanics I trust 100% with any of our cars! He takes great car of my 650i convertible, our Mercedes C class as well as our Karman Ghia 1970. Our son just brought his Mazda in and was satisfied with all the work that was needed! Cheers! Juergen read more

Excellent service at a fair price. I recently visited Freer's for the first time on the recommendation of an acquaintance. I have been going to Tony for years. Even when I moved to San Diego in 2010, I still chose to drive to Escondido to Freer. It's worth it! He's a knowledgeable reasonable trustworthy mechanic ! Those are hard to find. read more

OMG is this place OUTSTANDING!!!!!! I inherited a 1996 Mitsubishi Montero due to a death in the family and needed to get the title in my name. In order to do that I had to have it smoged but since the check engine light was on it would be an automatic fail. Well, I found Tony Freer on Yelp and I could not be happier with his kindness, helpfulness and most importantly HONESTY!! His shop fixed the problem and it didn't cost me an arm and a leg. After all of this was said and done (title in my name etc) I went back to him and asked if he knew of anyone who would be interested in buying the car. It turned out he did and put me in touch with the gentleman and that evening the car was sold. Talk about SERVICE! Now mind you that's not going to happen to everyone all the time, I just got lucky with the timing. (BTW..I'm gonna pay him a finders fee which, I feel he deserves). That very same day, I had brought him a Toyota Tundra to check out to see if it was worth buying as a third car/utility vehicle for my family. For $35 he checked it from top to bottom and told me what it needed (new radiator, spark plugs and battery) but other than that it was in excellent condition and the price the owner wanted for it was fair.....not bad for a 14 year old car with 200k on it. Once again.....TOTAL HONESTY. Folks listen here: In this day and age it's SUPER hard to find someone who's a straight shooter and will tell you like it is...(without trying to rip you off)--especially in the world of automotive repair. Tony's shop is a WONDERFUL place to have your cars serviced. HONEST AND REASONABLE. IT DOESN'T GET BETTER THAN THIS!!!! :) :) :) read more

Tony and his team are true professionals. They may be the best in SD county. Repairs and customer service are at the core of what this shop lives by as well as reputation in the community. I always appreciate people who are honest and operate with integrity. I wish they had a loaner car or a shuttle read more

Freer Auto Repair - Excellent Location - Auto Repair Near Me - Escondido, California

Too bad Tony's mechanics are no longer reliable, honest, competent nor professional. A simple oil change on my Sprinter Van cost me dearly. Not only did he deny braking parts, I had to have it towed to somewhere more reliable to have it repaired. $600.00 later I have my vehicle back. Not even an apology from Tony Freer. Once was good but not any more. STAY AWAY!!! read more

We took two cars we were considering purchasing to Freer and got great insight. We felt much more well informed about the vehicles and learned things about the cars that we wouldn't have otherwise known. Not to mention that their pricing for the inspection was extremely reasonable as well. This was a wonderful find and we are extremely pleased! read more

I am very careful when posting reviews. First, there are a lot of wanna-be professional automobile repair shops in San Diego County. Tony and his talented mechanics are reasonably-priced and straight talkers. I have been with Tony for many years. He has never let me down. Most importantly, they fix cars. they don't offer fancy perks like free rides. I am bothered that one post gave a four instead of five. Cry-baby. Trust Tony to do a great job for you. read more

These guys are awesome! They worked on my F150 and my wife's Escape. Always professional and reasonable. I tell them what I need, and they do it, with expert recommendations. They will work with you on repairs and tell you when you need to do the repairs. Very cool. Glad I found them. read more

Freer's auto is fantastic. The guy is world class and can fix any car. My family has been getting cars fixed by Tony and his crew for well over 20 yrs. They are honest as they come and also well priced. Highly recommend!! read more

Tony and his crew are the best in the business. Reliable, honest, and trustworthy, the most important qualities you can hope for in a mechanic. My family, my wife's and my friends all rely on Freers for over 15 years. Everytime I take my car somewhere else (out of town, on the fly) and they tell me I need a lot of work done, I take it to Tony and every time he saves me headaches and heartaches. Tony and his team are the greatest! My family friends and I have been going to his shop for years. Always honest, open and solve the problem, as well as provide the best maintenance on all vehicles! Amazing customer service! It can be hard to find an honest mechanic but this is definitely the place to go. They fixed my car for half the price of what I was told from somewhere else. Definitely coming back. read more

Need to find a mechanic you can trust? Freer's Auto is the place to get your car serviced and repaired. They will fix what needs to be fixed, not create bogus issues just to get your hard earned cash. Cost is a little high, therefore the 4 star rating rather than 5. read more

The best! Great team and extremely trust worthy. I've taken all my cars to Tony's shop for the past five years, l always get an honest diagnosis on my car and I feel confident in his team's work when I leave the shop. He solves the issues correctly the first time, every time, and doesn't prescribe any frivolous repairs. Highly recommend. read more

Who gets a five star rating??? Tony Freer does! and his shop has definitely earned it. I am not going to drool over his ethics and skills but your vehicle will be fixed and without any extra bs or mechanic hanky-panky. Now that being said...Tony is not cheap or discount. These are the facts. Your vehicle will be repaired at a quoted rate and if youre ok with that rate...its all fixed with no dissatisfaction on your part. A mechanic you can trust and youll never choose another one after he has done some work for you. read more

I have been coming here for 18+ years and cannot say enough about the quality of work that Tony and his technicians give. He is honest, straightforward, timely and dependable. His rates are reasonable and he has the utmost integrity therefor will not take you for a ride. I really like this shop. Tony explained to me what needed repair and what can wait. Best kept secret in Escondido.

Tony is a great guy. Honest, friendly. Its like having a mechanic in the family.

It's always great when you can find an auto repair shop that you can trust. Tony Freer is an honest and hard working guy who you can definately trust to give you a fair price. He also can fix your car and make it run like new. I have recommended him to many of my friends and relatives, and we also bring our company vehicles to Tim for repair work. He also does oil changes and tune ups. I'm happy to give him a 5 star Rating! read more
