I made the mistake of not reading the reviews for this place before I came in for an oil change, a tune up, and a couple other regular 100,000 mile mark services. The older gentleman in the front of the store printed off my quote for me and it said labor was nearly 3 hours. I proceeded to tell the gentleman I only had 2 hours to make a an appointment so I wouldnt mind coming in another day for the services. I was not in a rush whatsoever to have the services done all in one day. He then guaranteed that they would have it done in 2 hours or less for me. He even reassured me when I asked if he was sure. 2 hours and about 14 minutes pass and I tell him I only have 6 minutes before I will miss my appointment and will be charged a fee for missing it. He did not respond with much more than a mumble and then said the guy is pulling up my car for me right now. I was not informed that another mechanic would be driving it away again so I go out to the parking lot and of course my car is not there. The gentleman from the front points to a sedan that is not my car. It was clear he did not even know which car was mine at this point. I finally find my car and I missed my appointment so I was charged a fee for missing that. Through this whole experience, no one seemed to care that I was guaranteed and also reassured that my car would be done and back to me in less than 2 hours, no one cared that i was charged for missing an appointment that i was guaranteed and reassured again that I would have my car back in time for, and even worse, he didnt even know which car was mine. This whole fiasco was absolutely unnecessary as I informed him I was not even planning to do it all in one day for the sake of making my appointment. Dont be a dummy like me, choose your auto shop wisely and read ALL reviews. read more

Rip off!!!!!!! Had a nail in my tire and found a local shop to try to get it repaired, came across this one....this guy tried to tell us it was 75$ to remove the tire and plug it ... LOL Ended up going to another tire shop down the street who quoted us $20 to do the same thing .... Hal's always does a great job. They've worked on three of my cars and never disappoint. Not sure what I did when I replaced my brake pads but I got a wobble and my rotors needed replacement. Dropped the truck off and they were fast and efficient as usual. They are alway good and fair when it comes to realistic costs of any repairs. Johnny provided prompt service for my father, addressing his needs within a day. While the initial estimate for a balancing and oil change was $255, the final bill totaled $1,000. While I'm not overly concerned about the sales tactics, I do find the parts pricing concerning. The shop is transparent about the parts they use, which is appreciated. However, the markups are excessive: 266% on brake pads, 149% on the filter, 64% on rotors, and 123% on wipers. Overall, the shop had a 68% markup on parts, without providing MSRP or stating they were marked up. You can decide for yourself if that is appropriate. I didn't leave a one-star review because Johnny was willing to entertain my concerns, and the shop did provide transparency on which parts were used (albeit after the fact on the invoice). Additionally, their labor was acceptable and prompt, and appears to be in line with "book costs". I encourage you to review the invoice and, using the part numbers they provided, to confirm for yourself how much they are charging above MSRP. read more

My Toyota RAV 4 was needing a transmission service. I called several places. One quoted me several prices and kind of maneuvered around on the service and prices and just didn't sound right. One never answered the phone on my 2 attempts to call? EXP answered each time I called even though I thought they were a different shop; my fault because I wasn't paying attention to who I had dialed!! So, today I went to EXP and explained I was the guy who called twice and made that error. I told the manager what I was looking for. I had talked to him the 2 previous misdials and he took it all in stride. He had quoted me a price that I thought was very fair and told him one place I called gave me the maneuvered routine I mentioned above. I got the answers I was looking for . I told the manager to do the work. He said gave the estimate and said he could get to it right away. I am totally pleased with the manager and shop tech. They took time to give answers and advice. My car runs great now I even notice that it runs better than I expected and was used to. The manager also noted that my parking brake lever needed work. I will be going back for brake service soon. My family has been going to him for over a decade until they misdiagnosed one of our cars 2x, charged us thousands of dollars the first time. Then the 2nd time, they said either replacement of the car parts or buy a new car after charging us thousands of dollars after the first misdiagnosis, which should not have happened if they were thorough with their job the first time. We finally went to get a second opinion and turns out it was only a minor replacement which costed 1/10 of what this shop was asking for-a part that didn't even need to be replaced. I debated on leaving a review at all but felt I had to share my latest experience with Hal's tire shop. My check engine light came on and I took it to Hal's. I've been a customer for a long time and trusted this shop. They charged $180 to tell me that I would have to come in for more tests which would cost almost $400. That's before any work would be done. I talked with a friend who said it's probably your gas cap, just replace the cap. So I went to auto zone and the gentleman behind the counter said before you spend any money let's see what's wrong with your car. They took a device out to my car, plugged it in, got a reading and then put it in their computer in the shop. He said it's an O2 sensor. It took about 5 minutes and it was free of charge. Needless to say I found a new mechanic who replaced the sensor. Problem solved. I called Hal's and talked with Johnny and told him I could no longer trust this shop, that I had been ripped off for $180 and they should be ashamed of how they treated a long standing customer. He of course argued with me and insisted they did nothing wrong. It was not a pleasant conversation. Much later that day Johnny called and left me a message saying they would return my money if I would come into the shop. I knew he wanted to just continue bullying me but this time in person so I ignored the call and did not go in. They would have refunded my card if they really wanted to. I no longer trust this shop and will not return. I gave them such great reviews and thought they could be trusted. They made me look like a fool. Needless to say I won't ever go back because I can no longer trust them. I'm not even sure if Hal knows what happened but at this point it doesn't matter. They've lost a good customer for good. read more

BAIT & SWITCH CROOKS! Do not trust these thieves. Called and spoke to "Johnny" and asked for labor cost to install four shock absorbers.. Labor only, as I was bringing in my own shocks... Told $185 to install four shocks. (fairly competitive price) so I scheduled the work for the following day... After they had wasted 45 minutes of my time, they came back to the waiting room and told me that "there was a mistake" and that the "real price" was $400. When I confronted Johnny about this, he seemed awkwardly understanding of my anger.. We then agreed to a labor price of $225... Then the owner of the shop (Iranian decent) came in and said "no way!" can't do it for less than $440! Don't waste your time with these clowns.. They re dishonest and not worthy of your hard earned money... BTW.. Got my shocks installed by Warner Muffler (right around the corner) that same afternoon for $200 read more

Brought my 2016 honda pilot couple weeks ago. i know i need to replace my brake pads it was like 5 1/2 years old. this guy doesn't want to replace just the brake pads. he want's me to replace the rotors too. and charging me $300+ in front $300+ rear. i was like "WHATTTTT did you just say?" i only have like 40,000+ mile on it. and i barely drive my pilot. I'm no mechanic but i know something on cars. he refuse to change just the pads, he wants to replace the rotors and asking for that price. i SMH and say it's a no for me and left. the guy too doesn't even smile. update: so i ordered my new wheels and tires @discount tire and decided to change my rotors so that it will look good better than the stock one. Had a great experience today at Hal's Automotive. As a woman, you're never sure if you'll have a good experience at the auto repair shop, but Hunter and his dad were great. They were able to clean out the air filter compartment (and remove a dead mouse!) and replace my wiper blades as a walk-in. I was out in less than a half hour and the price was very fair considering some of the other quotes I received. They did a great job cleaning out the compartment. I can't recommend them enough as an honest and friendly repair shop and will share them as my go-to shop in the future. 5-stars! read more

Came here for the first time due to my rear tire needing to get patched up quickly after running over a nail and I could keep hearing it losing air, I quickly called Hal's as it was closest to me. I was almost worried they sound too take me bc it was almost 5 pm but They told me to come by and Hal and his team took care of me right away. It was all patched up and better within 20 minutes and I was so so relieved bc I had somewhere I needed to be as well. Hal is very gracious and seems like a very genuine person. I had new tires and windshield wipers replaced about six weeks ago, so yesterday it rained and the driver side wiper flew off while I was driving with 2 kids in the car. thank God it did not hit the car behind me. I was able to make it home but it was scary. I called today and was told that I could either pay another 50 dollars to have a new one put on or go pick one up myself and they would install it.
