Very disappointing experience. I brought my Kia Optima Plug-In Hybrid in and paid $200 for a diagnostic. They listed code P1326 but they didn't clearly explain that it's associated with a known Kia engine issue/recall. Instead, I was told I had to approve a $1,300 repair for radiator hoses and a coolant flush before they could look further at the engine. Not only did three other auto shops quotes come back at half the price for the same work, but they left out critical information about my engine most likely not working after those repairs. I had to google all the codes myself for that information. The price difference was concerning and they left me feeling uncomfortable about the recommendation. Most auto shops would see that there was an engine recall code, and refer me to Kia. Took my Kia in for the check engine light. They charged $210 for the diagnostic and kept it overnight to do a cold start. Called me the next day saying they wanted to change a spark plug and do a fuel injection with a quote of $1400. TOTALLY INSANE. this guy is a total fraud and a crook. I brought my car in for repairs after realizing there was vibrations coming from the engine. my insurance company was covering the cost minus my deductible. During the process, I felt the shop owner tried to push additional repairs and fees that didn't align with what the insurance had approved. I double-checked with my insurance rep, who confirmed some of the charges weren't necessary or justified. It seemed like the shop was trying to take advantage of the situation to inflate the bill. Thankfully, my insurance stepped in and handled it, but the experience left me feeling uneasy and mistrustful. I brought in my car for unrelated repairs and the mechanic (tony) incorrectly installed the oil housing unit 3 times. In addition, he installed the thermostat incorrectly resulting in my car to overheat without noticing. I had oil draining into the coolant reservoir. I got a second and third opinion stating that my cylinder heads are warped. I contacted mission auto care and was quoted 10k for a used engine dropped. I have tried multiple times to reach the owner. This is the absolute best auto repair company I have ever been to!!! I had new brakes installed somewhere else and after, the ABS lights on the dash came on and there was a clunking sort of noise when braking that the brakes people couldn't diagnose after returning 3 times. Went to Mission Auto Care and they knew that it was the ABS sensor. Jared paid for an Uber to get me home and then back after the repair. I'm an older single woman and have experienced dishonest businesses but not this time. Mission Auto Care is the best of the best. Super honest, helpful, caring. They know what they're doing. 2021 Review: I have to say this honestly, Jared is amazing. I had a loud clunking sound every time I turned the steering wheel. I wound up replacing the steering coupler in the EPS motor to correct the issue. However, I ended up with no power steering and an EPS and Traction light. Researching showed that I'd need to recalibrate the steering angle sensor to correct the issue. I turned it in to Jared and they found a connector wasn't fully seated. They connected the connector and recalibrated the sensor. They also performed a 36 point inspection and found other areas that needed attention. Me loving to work on my cars within my skill set told Jared that I'd be fixing those issues. Jared is such a breath of fresh air. I've been to other places where they put the pressure on you non stop to have them do the repairs but Jared didn't. He was extremely professional and stated that he just needed to inform me of the issues and said if I ever need them again, they are there for me. Please, if you're on the fence about a trust worthy place... don't feel that way with Mission Auto Care. I highly recommend this place to everyone and am very glad to know that I have such a professional and trustworthy repair shop in my local community. 2019 Review: Took my vehicle in which was an out of state purchase from PA. Explained to Jared that there was some concerns I had in regards to the seller lying and spraying over rust. I explained a couple of other items of concern as well. I also told Jared up front that I'm a DIY guy with a helicopter mechanic background and that I would do repairs within my skill level and work with Mission Auto Care for items I can not handle. I really wanted to like this place. We went a few times and they were nice but I think eventually over sold and over charged us. We won't go back. Charged $105 to diagnose why Check Engine light was on, then in addition to fixing the problem talked us into having all kinds of other individual things done that added up to a big bill. Went back for what we thought would be an adjustment; another $105 to diagnose but this time we shopped around for the price to fix. They were $100 more for the repair! At that time, my rear shocks were questionable, but I was told there was no need to get them replaced immediately. This time, Jarod went over the list of items with me and we decided to have the rear shocks replaced. I love the fact that they keep track of everything on my car, from oil changes and air filters to major mechanical issues. I brought my car in here today to see if I could get my brakes checked. This is the third car that I have brought in since 2004. Pepe has always taken care of my cars. I don't know if he is still the owner of this business but after waiting for over 20 minutes for someone to come and at least acknowledge that I was there, I called another mechanic. During the time I was sitting there a guy came in and looked at me, got himself some coffee and walked out. If I could give zero stars I definitely would. This business doesn't deserve one star. I notice the other reviews for this business have gone down which is sad because if you know Pepe, it's very unusual. I saw the reviews and still came in. They sold me 4 brand new tires and didn't balance them i went to have yhem looked at by another tire atore they showed me on the machine that they were way off and it would cost to fix them so i came back and told them about how my car shakes and that the other tire store showed me that they were not balanced. I was then told to get out!!! I paid yo have my tires put on and for balancing and they didn't do that part. Then he pused me out the front door and told me never to come back!! I now have to pay to have the tires fixed. We've used a few mechanics in the area, and even went as far as Laguna Nigel looking for a good one. None of them met my husbeast's demanding auto care standards. Then The clutch went and this was the closest place to our house. The guys here are AMAZING! It's very reasonably priced, and they don't try to scam you out of your money. The staff are all super friendly and knowledgeable, and our cars are always done way before I expect them. We've been going here for 2 or 3 years now and I wouldn't dream of going anywhere else! Had my spark plugs changed here 1 year ago. Was told valve gasket was leaking so did that too. Little over a year later car wouldn't pass smog do to fouled plugs from a leaking valve gasket. Was told there was no way my gasket had been replaced a year ago. Also when my plugs were replaced they weren't set to proper torque... What dumbass complains about an estimate that's $5 off (and it might have been way less)? Pepe and the crew have been taking care of my two cars for over ten years. The best testimonial is simply giving a description of the two cars. One is a 1999 Ford Explorer. It currently has over 240,000 miles on it. I have never been charged for work it did not need and I feel the repair charges are always fair. I take it out to the desert and need to rely on it and so I have to have confidence in the work. My other car is a 1990 Toyota Corolla. It currently has over 355,000 miles on it. The engine is original and it still gets 25 miles to gallon and is only burning about a quart of oil every 2,000 miles. It has always started and has never left me in the lurch. (And I ride it hard.) Pepe's goal it to get this to 400,000 miles and with the work I've received at Mission Auto Care I think I'll make it. I guess I should throw something negative into the review so it's not so over the top: The office, and perhaps the whole place, could really use a good cleaning. But hey I'd rather have their quality work on my cars since I spend more time in them than I do in their facility! ADDED 6/24/15: Well wouldn't you know? Shortly after posting this review the shop began a major cleanup with new signage, soon paint for the office and other touch ups. Victor helped me out looked over the work Midas quoted me and they did a great job for less money. Can't complain about that. Unfortunately the car ended up breaking down the next day!!!
