My car took some damage after an object snapped the emergency brake line on the highway, and Oceanside Automotice was able to quickly assess the damage and give me a quote, and had the car fixed within a day. After taking my car there 3 times, no work was fine on my car, 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland. The first time I gave them a Cash deposit to order the struts. The second time they told me it would be done before closing only to call me three hours before closing to tell me they got the wrong parts and ask could I leave my car until Monday, this was on a Saturday. I could not. The third time I dropped my car off the night before so it would be one of the first to get started on. I go by before dropping my dog at the vet, same shopping center and they tell me they should be fine in about an hour. They call me while I'm at the vet and tell me they have the wrong parts again and it will take $2000 more to get the right ones. Did they really not check and see if they received the right parts the second time? Did they know what they were doing? Or was it me, a person of color, that was the problem? I saw an O'rielly truck dropping off parts while I was waiting for the owner to come and write me a check for my cash deposit. read more

Having me do things that were necessary, making my car leak after I left there, tightening the oil pan too much, 30 Mi after going there, so many problems with my car. They texted me to come and I had an appointment I wonder why they did that. They knew they did something to my car. $1,000 in already and not going back there ever. I told him I didn't have an appointment with him because I didn't, but they expected me to come back. Not honest and up front, just good actors. read more

Dropped off my vehicle to get the clutch replaced. When I got my vehicle back it was making a weird noise and I immediately told the shop, which they said it wasn't from anything they did. Found out they had forgot to reinstall a cover and the new clutch had road debris all over it. When confronted they said the noise still wasn't from anything they did and to take it to a different transmission shop. The new shop told me they had installed the wrong size clutch and also cleaned out all the road debris they left behind. Oceanside automotive refused to pay for any of the additional repairs caused by their terrible work even tho when the vehicle was brought back I was told to find another shop to fix it. read more

So I was there at 8 came back at 3:30 To Pick It Up And They Had Not Even Moved My Car and the two guys were just inside hanging out in the air conditioning. I took my Honda Civic Car into Oceanside Automotive for a synthetic oil and filter change, also an 20 point inspection that included (checking all the belts, hoses and setting the tire pressure on my car at 32 p. s. i.). This service was done on 12/17/2014 when Mac McCracken originally owned this automotive repair shop then Mac retired and sold his shop. When I arrived for my morning appointment, Mac asked me if I would like to get my Brakes inspected? Since he told me his Brake Inspections are no charge to the customer. I told Mac, no that is okay my brakes are fine. Mac still had his mechanic (Jose) check my (front brake pads and my rear brakes) even though I told Mac that my brakes are fine. It took Jose the mechanic about (20 minutes) to complete the synthetic oil and filter change and the 20 point inspection. Mac's shop is a very reputable business and he told me he is a Christian. His shop was very busy that day during my appointment. Mac the owner had (two mechanics) working for his shop. Mac discussed with me after Jose his mechanic checked my whole car, Mac wrote down on the invoice my (rear brakes) are slightly out of adjustment and he asked me when would I like to set up an appointment to get my rear brakes adjusted and cleaned? I told Mac I would call him at a later date to set up a new appointment because I have a busy schedule. I was charged the total amount of $32.66 and I paid for this oil and filter change service in cash. Mac gave me good customer service, quoted me a fair price, and he is honest. I also liked that Mac accepts personal checks, credit cards and cash payments. read more

This is a good trustworthy auto place to bring in your car :) I took my car in for a synthetic oil change since they had the best rate out of anyone who was in the local area (I wont put the price since it may change). Bruce is the one-man rep who speaks with all the customers and leaves a great impression on customers. Everything went pretty smooth as I called in the morning, took my car in the afternoon and my car was ready 1 hr after. I typically do my own oil changes since its easy but when your pressed with time and need someone to take care of it, this is a great place to leave your car in good hands. read more

The main manager Justin is awesome. He is extremely helpful with his knowledge and patience when I ask him a million questions. The one thing that really stood out to me was his follow up! I took my daughter's car in for a variety of problems. We had it scanned at a shop in SD, however, it was more convenient for me to have the work done closer to home. Bruce went over everything with me and gave me a quote that I approved. Left the car and Mario gave me a lift home in our car so he could get an idea of the issues. Bruce and Mario were both pleasant and kind. They changed the fuel tank Pressure Sensor, Fuel filter and Power steering pump. They kept the car to work on for a few days and I was out of town. They were kind enough to drop the car back at my house and left the key under the mat. Sounds good so far, but this is where it takes a turn. I took the car for a short drive and noticed that the gas tank was super low. Didn't think I left it that low. Back to the driveway. Looked in the back seat and it was flipped up and there was a panel open and not screwed down. (see pics) this should have been a warning of what was to come. I took pics and planned to call and ask the next morning. My daughter was heading out to dinner with a friend, happy to have her car back. I told her to get gas as it was really low. About 10 minutes later I get a frantic call that her car is leaking gas. I said come home and I will figure it out. Not just leaking gas, but full stream of gas!! I literally had a car bomb in my driveway. put a bin under the car to catch the gas. Thankfully I have an amazing neighbor who was willing to lay down in the gas puddle and reach up under that car and saw there was a clamp missing. He had a clamp in his garage and was able to get it to stop leaking. I left a message at Oceanside Automotive that night to call me immediately. I called them at 10am the next day and they hadn't even checked the messages. I also noticed there was a leak in the front, oil or power steering fluid. They did come and pick up the car and took it back to the shop. Cleaned up everything that was left undone. And brought the car back to me. My issue with this is that the quality check of the work was not done. The car should have never left the shop like this. They put my daughter's life in jeopardy, and also mine and my neighbor. Sorry's all the way around from Mario and Bruce. However, I don't have any confidence in the work ethic of this business. read more

BEWARE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This place is a total rip off and should be reported. I was comparing prices with other shops and went with Oceanside Automotive because they were the lowest. Justin Elliot the Service advisor quoted me over the phone and we I got to the shop he said he screwed up and wanted to charge me $100.00 more which I did not go for and had him change it. He told me that he had to take off my bumper to get to to change the blinker bulb and would take two hours of labor to do that. I had to leave my car and they found other issues. I asked Justin if he had to take off my bumper and told me he didn't have and showed me that he just had to discount a hose to get to the bulb. So I should have not been charged to two hours of labor. They had my car for 2 hours , when I picked up my car they charged me $417.00 . Their labor prices are listed on wall board and it states $ 110.00 per hour, they overcharged me by $190.00 for labor. I complained to the Owner or Manager and he said I could not stay in business if I charged my labor hourly. Unethical and scammers. Stay away!! read more

They weren't however, trained, to handle privileged entitled, pompous ass customers like Jackie L. you failed to mention in your review that rats chewed the shit out of your car, and that you also needed a lift home. and they can't properly quote you until they look at your car of course the price may be different after they look at it. ethically they have to advise you to fix these problems and any other issue they find which you agreed to and labor costs also include the time it took for your ride to/from home. too bad there isn't a platform to leave reviews on piss poor customers like you. being a customer, does not give you the right to treat people as you did they worked on your car they fix the issue and they still gave you the best prices around for what you needed done. Brought my car here last year to replace a couple coils with spark plugs, returned the same day to see if they would be able to replace a couple fuses that were blew out just for them to tell me they would have to recharge me for diagnostic , labor, ect. A years later I was able to have all 6 coils, spark, & fuses plugs replaced with a complete tune up for half of the price. Completely overcharged!!! read more

If they don't know you, and if it is a job that can be disguised and massaged by false words and smile, it could. Go there with discretion. If you are off the street, or they are behind, over booked, or no racks available, be careful... something you paid for may not be completed -- be careful. Karma will get all those that rip off customers. You know who you are. Also, they have a couple of young cats in there, that speed and drive reckless when test driving. After talking with the guy at the desk I made an appointment at 1pm for a smog test and when I arrived I was told that their "smog guy" left for the day and they had meant to call me to cancel. Completely unprofessional. The technician that worked my car "test ran" after he completed the job and left a half bottle of vodka and cell phone in my front seat. Not only are their rates high but they are also drinking and driving in your vehicle! This was not fun explaining to a teenager as we went straight to pick up our child from school. Should report to the police. They also pick and drop off THEIR kids in your vehicle when they "test run" as the guy told on himself while we were chatting... not cool. I'd suggest recording your mileage/gas before leaving your vehicle there for the day and recording as soon as you pick it up and look around to assure nothing is stolen! Need more things to be broken, come here! I had been taking my vehicle here for maintenance for years but have grown suspicious of their honesty as they kept "finding" new issues with every visit. My concerns stemmed from a recent oil change visit, where they had informed me that my belts had gone bad. There was no visible wear and tear but I like to stay proactive on keeping my vehicle running smoothly, so we made an appointment to change the belts. At the belt change appointment , I was then informed that my radiator hose was now leaking, which had not been an issue beforehand. They said they called around and could not find a hose anywhere. Called back several times throughout the next couple weeks and they still were unable to locate the part. I called one place, literally within 7 miles of the shop, and found the hose. I purchased the hose and brought it in for them to change out and do a radiator flush. By now, my trust in them was slim but decided against my better judgement to give them another shot as they're located close to home. However, during this recent appointment, I'm convinced they are crooked! They tried to up sell me on radiator fluid thinking I wouldn't know the difference and then also called to tell me that now, all of a sudden, my radiator is leaking. I know the radiator did not have this issue prior to bringing it back there because I had inspected the hose and radiator very well as I had planned to change the hose myself, but could not do the work in my driveway. This new radiator leak is right near where they did the work to replace the hose. I'm quite disgusted with how this establishment does business and takes advantage of their customers. I would not trust these guys unless you want to create new damage to your car so they can ensure repeat business. read more

I came here for the convenience on the distance to my home. I work more than 15 years training people in marketing and customer service so is disappointing when you see somebody that rude as the person at the front desk . I just change the oil of my car and the same guy recommend me to replace the arm bearings on the front of my car, he mentioned that was really needed! I was about to come after a week or so I had a professional inspection on a different mechanic, but not happy with that I ended paying for a expensive diagnostic on the Jeep dealer (my car is a 2016 jeep) in both place's couldn't fine any problem . They also offer competitive prices on scheduled maintenance services. As a woman, I always feel as though I'm being taken advantage of when it comes to work on my car. At Oceanside Automotive, only the necessary work is recommended. They explain everything, why it's needed and they will also show you the part that needs to be replaced/repaired. I have never felt pressured to do any of the work and I have never felt as though I was being talked down to. I gave then three stars because, although I have never had a problem, every time my husband has used their services he has had to return for something minor to be fixed. First time, they didn't tighten the oil cap (good thing we have a cat..that kitty litter really does work to soak up oil!), second time, they forgot to top off all of the fluids they said they would top off, third time (he was ready to find someone else but I encouraged him to return) the check engine light came on right after paying a lot of money for the 60k mile check. Everything was fixed and put right but he didn't like the idea of having to return...who would? All in all, I would recommend Oceanside Automotive if asked by a friend. read more

I went this place because my car wouldn't start up. So I had triple A come and tow it. I'm not from around this area so I pick this place since it was the closest. That was on Wednesday night. The towing guy said to call them the next morning make sure they got it. I called They have the car. I call Friday to see what the update was. Since they don't call you. The guy say said it's going to be 500. Should be ready Saturday perfect. I called Saturday asking if it was ready since I do live far from there then the guy said it's now 2,200 dollars which ridiculous amount and the guy said since it is a lot of money the owner would like to buy it off. Which is very weird how it jump from that then the owner wanting it. Since they wouldn't give me a real answer of what was wrong with car I said let's wait I'll come Monday. so Monday I called the shop and said I'm going to take my car to my old mechanic in cypress. When can I come and pick it up I called them before 12 the guy on the phone said 1:30-2:30 and I said great I'll be there by 3:00. It's now 2:50 I called and ask the guy is it ready since I do live far and he said no and I said ok when would it be ready since you said this time then he said it'll be ready at 4:00pm so I got off the phone drove there to waited for my car. So I got it towed back to my mechanic. I do not recommend all this place at all it's unpleasant they never call to update you about the car. The prices jump. First it was 500 then 2,200.00 it's a Mitsubishi Lancer sport wagon 2003 so it's little old it was my grandpas car it was in excellent condition. I took it too the original mechanic it cost me 629.00 and when my mechanic received he said none of the screws were put back it's place everything was loose. This place is a joke. read more

Apparently Oceanside and Bayside are the same company according to AAA. Why they allow them to be listed twice I have no idea. It took AAA 2 days to find another tow provider near me and said the alternate provider was the same company. This is in addition to a formal complaint to AAA about this company. Having dealt with many tow truck drivers in the past, who were all polite, understanding about the car being valuable, unique that requires extra know-how and special care. They will either reassure me or let me or repair store guide them. I have never had any problems with any tow truck drivers in my 17 years as being a member of AAA and 10 years owning the car. Unfortunately, this tow truck driver, apparently George is his name, was not the same. When asked if he knew how to handle the car, George seemed to take great offense to the question. He gets out of his tow truck, gets in the customers face , intimidating the customer, yelling at the customer "It's just like any other car", and "I've done this a hundred times". Meanwhile I'm standing there in shock while he's in my face wondering if this guy is going to try to attack me or something let alone potentially catch covid from him since he wasn't wearing a mask. He stood there an aggressive and intimidating demeanor then finally just turned around and got back in his tow truck and left me stranded without a tow. He turns around and tells AAA that I was being rude although I wasn't the one getting in his face aggressively, intimidating and yelling. Unprofessional is an understatement. Actually was pretty frightening experience, and also very upsetting considering the complications in finding another tow provider. Inconvenience to aaa, and the repair store. I'd never expected to receive this type of service through a AAA provider. read more

Took my car in for an oil change and to have the air in tires looked at and just an overall check to confirm the car was ok to drive to the desert the next day. (Where my car would be standstill for 5 days after, and then return home). Upon completing the oil change they said they that the radiator needs to be replaced, its leaking, and made it sound as if it was in dire need to be done right away. Quote? Over $1,000. I got my good friend on the phone who is a mechanic to talk to them for me. I needed some reassurance that this was a little excessive. Only got the oil change done, and left. Friend came over and looked at the radiator. It was not in as dire repair as they made it sound to be. Just as a precaution, he added some waterweld to it, but vouched that it would be fine. I made my journey and got back and the car is still just as good upon looking at it once more. Will be getting work to the radiator done in the near future, but definitely not going back here. Not to mention one of the guys who works there is a creep and was trying to hit on both me and my friend, but I'm also damn sure that $40 cash was taken from my bag I had in the backseat.
