Brought my 2013 Mercedes ML-350 SUV here for a B7 service back in Nov. They changed the oil, performed a brake fluid flush, replaced the cabin air filters, front and rear wipers and replaced the coolant. What was nice is after a 40 point inspection, they sent me a link to a website which detailed all of the inspected items (with photos) and the recommended services with a price for each. I could pick and choose what I wanted or could afford to do at that time. Compare this to European Autoworks on Melrose that charged me $600 for a B service, and didn't tell me any details about what they were going to do or what they did after the fact. Completely in the dark on that one. Only issue we had was the next day we got a "Check Coolant Level" error on the dash which didn't make any sense as they performed a flush of the coolant. We still have the issue, just need to get some coolant to top it up. Outside of that, they were great to work with and would come back for future service work or repairs. read more

Horrible service! My dad made an appointment last week for today to take our Range Rover in for an oil change and getting a sensor fixed. We drop the car off at 11, come back at 3 and they tell us they can't work on our car today. What's the point of making an appointment then? Didn't even have the decency to give us a call earlier to let us know we would have to come back another day. Long story short I have a Subaru that had the check engine light come on, after some testing they told me I should take it to the dealership and have them run some diagnostics. ???What you say?? Well, the car is still covered under the PZEV warranty and the Subaru mechanical warranty. Instead of charging me a bunch of money (which they could have if they were not honest people) they saved my behind!!! To the tune of $8K!!!!!!!!!!!!! All covered. Today I had a remarkable experience with customer service at Lael's in Oceanside. My husband had taken my Fiat to the shop yesterday to find out why the AC was not working. After doing a complete check of the car, they discovered the compressor needed to be replaced and gave him the quote for the amount. So today I went to the shop to place the order for the part and was greeted by the owner, Lael Leoni, who was polite, friendly and welcoming. I explained I had spoken with the office manager Bob earlier in the morning and he said he knew I was coming in. I gave him my card so I wouldn't have to take the sleeping grand baby out of the car seat and he said he would send Bob out with paperwork to be signed. Bob came out a few minutes later, introduced himself and had me sign the receipt. He then explained the next steps and said they would contact us when the part arrived. He also mentioned the price was lower than the quote from yesterday because he had found a better price for the part, saving us $200+. I noticed that the shop is a AAA recommended auto repair location and asked Bob if there was a discount for AAA members. He looked at the receipt and said "The AAA discount is not noted on your account so I will take care of that as soon as I go back to the office." I thanked him and went on my way. This whole experience was so pleasant and stress-free and definitely not the way I have been treated by other auto repair shops in the past (particularly the Fiat dealership where we bought the car.) I look forward to having the work done on the car as soon as the part arrives and feel confident that the repairs will be done professionally and I will soon be driving in air conditioned comfort in my cute little red Fiat. This review is long overdue. I met Lael has his team on a fateful day when the car engine of my 2013 BMW X3 completely died not far from their doorsteps. Over the next couple of weeks, Lael and his team did their best to help me out almost as if I was their old friend. This included an initial diagnosis, help arrange a tow truck, help rent a discounted rental, provide free extended parking at their premises and help move the car. To my surprise Lael continued to provide me advice that was in my best interest even if that meant no business for him. Hard to believe there are still people like that in auto service industry. I made an appointment for a leak . The owner told me it would cost 99 for a pressure test . When I check my car in the worker tried to charge me 150 for that test. I then got a call with a quote for 2 hoses to be replaced for 780$! The owner has already told me it would be 200-400$. I asked for the write up and they didn't have one!!! I demanded one, took it to another auto shop and sure enough got the job done for 400$!!! Terrible people at laels! I have receipts to prove it.....My husband & I took our 2012 MB to have the Brakes replaced, rotors turned & some filters put on. We were quoted $718.00 - which is a bit high because my husband got another quote & it was $100 less. Well we were there & wanted to support a newer business, we left the car & came back to pick it up & paid. It wasnt a couple of days later I heard a squeak coming from the back tires. I called & was told they didnt do the back brakes. WHAT??I returned it to the shop 2 times to check it out & he couldn't find anything wrong. Oh & BTW he charged me 100%of the price. Life savers... My starter broke down on a Friday afternoon. AAA recommended me tow to Lael's that afternoon. My car was towed in around 4:30 PM and before they shut down for the day, they had already diagnosed the issue and ordered the part. I was initially told my car would be done on Monday, but when I expressed concern about being stuck in Oceanside till Monday (I had an important work meeting that morning and I work and live in Orange County) Preston said to call back Saturday morning because he would try and get it done!!!! I called back the next morning and spoke to Lael, he said they were having the part rushed and he had called in a mechanic to come in specifically to work on my car!!! Got my vehicle's body damage fixed from an auto accident by Lael and his crew some time back. They were supposed to put factory parts on the car and use the best quality paint. Well I'm hear to say that they screwed me. They gave me after market parts that are defective and now the paint is changing color to that nasty two-tone purplish tint when cheap paint is used. They actually did a horrible job putting it together. The panels on the car aren't flush. It really was a con-job. Please read this before you go with him. Do Not! let this place touch your car! Last week AAA recommended this business because my car needed to be towed. They are all liars and trying to make as much money as possible. They told me my car needed a intake manifold and it would cost $1700. Then they tried to charge me $141 just to tell me what was wrong with my vehicle. I refused and took my business to their competitor across the street. Guess what? All my car needed was a fuel pump! I believe they were going to replace the fuel pump but charge me for an intake manifold. These guys tried to take advantage of a woman who is 62 years old! Absolutely terrible! read more

After some minor DIY work I was still having issue with my 435i BMW. Having dealership service experience I'm very knowledgeable about the inner workings and mindset of service writers. With one call I was able to speak directly to the owner Lael. After a brief conversation with a lot of ideal qualifiers i was advised it would be best to bring my car down to be looked at. I speak from experience that is in fact the best solution. Arriving near closing time Lael himself came right out as if i were his first customer of the day. After opening the hood he quickly assessed the problem. Once he snapped a hose in place I started my car and it now runs great again. In the process of an engine oil cooler repair, the mechanic broke the PCV hose and instead of replacing it and/or at least notifying me, they shrink wrapped the hose which ultimately melted and caused me to have yet another repair issue. Hoo boy, where to begin with this miserable experience? Maybe I should start by reviewing Lael based upon his service? It took just around 3 hours to complete an oil change I had scheduled an appointment for in advance. Maybe they were extra busy? How about sitting in the waiting area for at least 30 minutes before anyone acknowledged that my car was done and that I was waiting for no reason? Or perhaps I should start with the fact that Lael himself got my car mixed up with another and was blissfully unaware that he was charging me for services performed on the other car? Should I mention the domestic dispute that was happening behind the front desk while I was waiting for my car? By the way, it was super unprofessional (not to mention uncomfortable) to subject a customer to that, Lael. Maybe I should also warn potential customers that Lael tried to rip me off by telling me there was "8/10 damage" to a core component of my Volvo? How do I know he was ripping me off? Two separate Volvo specialists and a Volvo dealership told me there was no issue. Thanks for helping me waste my time debunking your lie, Lael. I'm not sure how this place has such high ratings. My daughter drives a Volvo 850, she was having stalling problems, she took her car here to have it diagnosed. They said they would look at it, but if was electrical it would have to go to the dealer, and there would be a charge of 137.00. Next day they said they could fix it for 2 hundred dollars, So I told my daughters boyfriend to tell them for 200 go ahead, now they want 300 plus dollars, for diagnosing and changing a fuel pump relay I can buy fo less than 30 bucks, this relay is excessible under the hood takes less than 5 minutes to change it. 350 bucks for a relay you can buy on the internet from16 to 29 dollars, at autozone 25.49.. 5 minutes if your slow to change it, still have 2 other codes not addressed to us by him for efi faults. if there are any futher updates I will update this review. read more

I cannot recommend this place highly enough. I live in LA, and drive down to SD quite often on business. Unfortunately, twice I had some major car trouble in Oceanside (different issues). Both times I went to see Lael, and I'm sure glad I did. He is honest, fair, and extremely trustworthy. Yesterday I blew the engine out on my Lexus. I was quite upset. He calmed me down, walked me through my options, and after discussion I decided it would be best to not repair it (very old car with high-mileage).
