1 star. Do not bring your car here. I brought myJeep SRT8 in for a valve cover, oil pan, and crank seal job on 5/8. Got it back 5/13, five days for a two-day quote. It was smoking before I even got back to work. Oil dripping onto the headers. Returned it same day, they re-torqued and sent me home. Still smoking. Dropped it back off 5/14 at 3:10PM. Picked up 5/15. Two lights from the shop my transmission started slipping hard in second gear. Turned right back around. Owner Ricky confirmed the slip on a test drive. His first question was whether I'd done aftermarket work to the transmission, trying to make it my fault before we even got back to the shop. Plugged in a scanner, found an old unrelated stored code, erased it, drove it again. His conclusion: "I don't know what to tell you." I pointed out the transmission was perfect at drop-off. He got angry. Said no one drove it, they only idled it. Then offered to pull camera footage as proof. I said let's go watch it right now. He said he had other things to do. This happened in front of my fiancée and two of his own employees. No intake paperwork was made when I returned the car, no mileage logged for the exact period the transmission failed. What I can tell you is the mileage on my car does not support the story they're telling. A certified third-party inspection from the shop literally 150 feet away documented my transmission passing with zero issues the same morning I dropped off. The oil pan job on the 6.1L HEMI also requires physically moving the transmission for access. They did something and when confronted with the proof, they dodged cameras and kicked me out. BAR complaint filed. Small claims next. Update "Response to Ricky, thank you for responding publicly this actually helps me significantly. You identified yourself here as "Business Manager." When I asked you in person for the owner, you said you were in front of witnesses. That is now publicly documented. Regarding the OBD codes : the stored code found was a historical "lost communication with TCM" event. That is not a transmission mechanical failure code. It is entirely unrelated to active gear slipping. Any qualified technician or BAR investigator will confirm those are two completely different things. Regarding the SRT8 being driven aggressively: on the morning of my drop-off, another shop conducted a certified digital multi-point inspection of my vehicle. 31 of 33 systems passed. Transmission was in the green. The only red flags were the exact leaks I hired you to fix. That inspection is timestamped and on record. A performance vehicle with aggressive driving history does not pass a certified inspection hours before drop-off and then suddenly fail two blocks from your shop after picking up You stated the transmission was not touched. The 6.1L HEMI oil pan job requires the transmission to be lowered for access. It does not need to be fully removed to be disturbed. You also claim no evidence exists linking your repairs to the transmission failure. There is also no intake paperwork from my return visit, meaning no mileage baseline exists for the exact period the failure occurred. That absence of documentation benefits only one party, and it is not me. Your building advertises transmission services. You told me to my face you don't diagnose transmissions. If you read the positive reviews, they are bull shit. Read the 1 star reviews. I spent $6k to have an engine installed. I was assured by RICK, that it was tested. Good to go. I drove it to New Mexico and back, 1600 miles and the check engine light is on . The engine oil is dry. I figured out later that the engine burns a qt. every 500 miles. I stopped at a Penzoil station, they said it was dry. They filled it up. I took it back, and Rick Says "It needs a higher viuscosity oil" Then he tries to charge me for the oil change . Refused to look at the engine. I have brought back twice, and RICK has refused to look it at it. " Oh, we checked it out. It was good" The worst thing about this I feel like a chump for trusting them. Let them change your oil, do your smog if want. Its cheaper other places. read more

They were friendly on the phone and said a couple of cars were being worked on but they could accommodate my car during their next day of business which was Monday. Came in on Monday and they did an inspection and oil change using synthetic oil. It was done in about an hour. They recommended that I change the cabin filter at some point but didn't try to push for it to be done. I liked that they ample parking and have several chairs and a TV in the indoor waiting area. I went to this shop today because I needed the left side outside cover to be screwed. I walked in to the shop without any appointment, they helped me right away and they screwed the cover for me without charging me! Then I noticed this squeezing sound in my car when I was driving. They took my car for a ride and told me that it wasn't something that will affect the safety of driving. They offered to do a diagnose for my car but because I was in a hurry so I refused. I received a phone call on my Apple IPhone XR today at 2:30 p. m. from Victor who works in their office. Victor said that my mom's 1998 Honda Accord LX Sedan Car on the Driver's Side Power Mirror Area covering this surrounding area is finished by Baha Auto Body Shop and it has been re-painted a (silver metallic paint color) and her car is ready. Victor said I can pick up my mom's car now and also I need to pay him the $150.00 in CASH that is total bill. I said okay thank you very much Victor. I will have to call a Uber driver to pick me up at my house and drive me over to their Oceanside Auto Repair Shop as soon as a Uber Driver is dispatched out to my home from their operator. I locked up my house. Then I waited outside in front of my home for Shelia to arrive at home to pick me up and drive me over to this Oceanside Auto Repair Shop. Shelia arrived at my home at 4:27 p. m. and this shop closes at 5 p.m. I hoped that Shelia would arrive before this Oceanside Auto Repair Shop is closed. Then I put on my face mask outside of her SUV and then I opened up the side door and got into the back seat. I put on my seat belt. Shelia asked me, what is the address that she will be driving to? I told her the address is 3582 Mission Avenue and it is the Oceanside Auto Repair Shop. The traffic after 4 p. m. was really backed up really bad on this main highway on Mission Avenue tonight. I told Shelia I hope she makes it to this shop because I have to pick up my mom's car tonight and I also have to pay Victor my bill. Shelia said don't worry she will drive faster so she will be able to arrive before this shop closes at 5 p. m. I said thank you Shelia. Shelia arrived at the Oceanside Auto Repair Shop at 4:50 p. m. I told her to drive to the side of this shop and then turn left and then she can drop me off in front of this shop. I had 10 minutes remaining before this shop was going to close at 5 p.m. tonight. Shelia told me that she wants to be paid a Tip from her customers but sometimes she is NOT paid anything. Shelia also said she would prefer to be paid her Tip in CASH. Everyone loves Cash. I told Shelia I frequently pay these Uber drivers who have given me (excellent customer service). I looked in my wallet and I only had $3.00 in CASH. I told Shelia I don't have the $5.00 in CASH to Tip her. Shelia said it's okay and she will accept the $3.00 in CASH so I gave her the Tip of $3.00. Then I exited her SUV. Then I walked toward the office and walked inside and I said Victor. Victor said he wants to show me the (completed work) that one of the Baha Auto Body technicians re-painted the Driver's Side Power Mirror surrounding area. Victor said it was difficult to perform an (exact Paint match on this Silver Metallic Paint on my mom's 1998 Honda Accord LX Sedan Car) due to her car is 22 years old and this paint on her car has faded over the years. Victor also told me that the Driver's Side Power Mirror Part was removed (twice) from my mom's car because one of their technicians at the Baha Auto Body Shop wanted to have an (Exact Match) on the Silver Metallic Paint on my mom's car. I was really very HAPPY because Baha Auto Body Shop did an AMAZING JOB due to the Silver Metallic Paint was an Exact Match and it was really shiny and beautiful. I will take some (photos this morning) and ( I will post these photos on the completed work from Baha Auto Body Shop) for their fantastic work that one of their technicians has done in the doing an (Exact Paint Match and Re-Painting the Driver's Side Power Mirror in the surrounding area). Baha Auto Body Shop deserves the full the credit for doing a wonderful job. My mom's car was in their shop for 4 and one half days. However, Victor told me last night that Danny one of their A. S.E. Mechanic's removed the driver's side mirror for Baha Auto Body Shop. I walked into the office with Victor and Victor printed out 2 copies of the Invoice he typed up earlier today. Victor asked me to read the information on this invoice before I signed my name and put today date on it. I read all this necessary information and then I signed my name and put today's date on this invoice. Victor took the original copy for their shop's records and then Victor gave me my copy for my reference. The only con I see at this shop is Jack the owner's son said they don't accept appointments because their shop works better that way. Jack said their shop is operated on a first come and first serve basis. I don't like this method. I like appointments. Then I took out the $150.00 in CASH out of my wallet, I gave this money to Victor. I saw Victor taking the $100.00 and the $50.00 money in CASH, he raised both of these bills in the air to see if this money was counterfeit. I said to Victor that money is REAL and it isn't counterfeit. Victor laughed and then he said it's his job. Then I drove my mom's car to my home tonight. read more

Needed a rush smog check on a Saturday since I'm lame and didn't read my DMV renewal thoroughly... so days away from renewal deadline! Calling all over, these guys were open and available! Nothing could have been easier. Well I guess I should say, once I found the place. It was a little tucked in amongst some other fix it shops. But found it! Drove in the little parking lot, gentleman greeted me in the lot, sent me into the little office to do the paperwork. While they did the testing, hung out on a couch in the office. Please note, they do not have free WiFi, you know - for Yelp check in of course!! But it didn't matter too much because I was done and out of there within a half hour. This place also sends the results directly to the DMV which is very nice. So once again my procrastination tendencies did not adversely affect my life! Thank you Khama gods! Think twice before using this shop even though it is AAA recommended. I brought my 2001 Audi in for a coolant leak. The shop quoted me over $300 for an auxiliary water pump (they claim they only use OEM parts. ) I questioned the cost and in less than 15 minutes I was able to find an OEM part for less than $100 and the part comes with a lifetime warranty. The shop also recommended replacing two coolant hoses which did not need replacing. When the work was done after I brought in my own OEM part, I requested the 10% discount that AAA promises when working with their recommended repair shops. Victor, the service rep refused to honor their commitment. I had requested the 10% discount on the labor only. I will inform AAA about this issue as well. When I paid the bill, Victor stated that I had a check engine light on, which was not present when I brought the car in to Oceanside Auto Repair. I declined the diagnosis since I no longer had any confidence in this shop. Upon arriving home, I found that two vacuum lines had been disconnected which was the cause of the check engine light. Shady. I'm fairly knowledgeable, when it comes to logical car repairs and can spot unscrupulous business practices. So my advice is to watch yourself if you decide to use this shop. Caveat Emptor! This place is obscure, actually kinda hard to find, but not for a local like myself as you kinda come in around back. Parking is generally good, except on Sundays, more on that later. John is a great guy, friendly, efficient. The waiting room may feel dated, but at least it's clean and has amenities like water, TV with remote and roku, comfy leather couches and a year round Christmas tree for some decoration. The tile color with all that stuff reminded me of Miami circa 2005. Came in for a groupon smog check in order to register my car and came to found out that although I was one of the first customers on a Saturday and only for my visit, that they only do them on Sundays. For 2 reasons. They make little to no money on a groupon smog ($6) as groupon takes a huge cut. And you are supposed to make an appointment. As I looked around and saw no one and knowing this takes 20 minutes I was like come on man? Bing bang boom we worked something out. Within 20 minutes I was about my day. Don't be off put my the storage of cars/parts on the south lift. They do bumper repair, body work, light repairs on everything short of heavy duty trucks. They def need an update on the pricing board. It's nearby plenty of food places while you wait, so that's good. read more

I really appreciate the swift response to my Yelp query, this STAR-certified shop being open on Saturdays (many simply are not, w/c can be hard when you have to work full-time Mon-Fri), the $10 off smog Yelp digital coupon, the price transparency ($55 for smog getting passed, $46 if failed and needing DMV-backed repairs) and for the honest, experienced assessment of indicators that a vehicle might not pass smog (ex. Check engine light on, battery died/got replaced causing system reset, etc.). Since I knew that my rarely driven, less than 100K miles 2000 Ford Explorer SUV (prior known owner only used it to drive to festivals like Coachella before retiring/downsizing to a smaller ride) had none of those above-mentioned issues, I went ahead & kept my fingers crossed/prayed that my SUV would pass on its 1st try (takes 35 minutes or so of thorough testing) - and it did!!!! They have a cozy waiting room and an open enough parking lot. You just have to keep your eyes open for the alleyway entrance that has its name, for people who may be driving too fast might easily miss that alleyway entrance w/c leads to their parking lot. As a STAR-certified smog & repair place, they immediately scan & send to the DMV the smog results and give you the Smog Certificate attached to the receipt (easy to use credit/debit card machine; also takes cash at same transparent prices & their advertised discounts), so you have that handy while you wait the requisite 30 days for the DMV to send you your renewal tags.
