The Oceanside Car Clinic was the (second) auto. repair shop I called after Niko's Shop at S & R Service Center on Thursday, July 20, 2023 at 4:30 p.m. I wanted to compare different quotes from these two different shops to see the kind of prices that I would be charged on this Brake Light Replacement Service. When I called this Oceanside Car Clinic and I talked to Eric who works for their shop, he told me that he is not at their shop right now. I explained to Eric that I want to get a Free Quote on this Brake Replacement Service that needs to be done on my 1995 Honda Civic DX Coupe Car. I want to know, how much would Eric charge me for this Brake Light Part and how much would he charge for his labor including the sales tax? Eric told me to send him 3 photos of my car and to text message him from the Oceanside Car Clinic's business phone number. Then Eric said he will give me the (price of the Brake Light Part) and he will also give me a FREE Quote on the (Brake Light Replacement Service). I said okay great. Eric's voice sounded really friendly during my cell phone conversation with him on Thursday, June 20, 2023 at 4:30 p. m. I have the proof in posting my photos and my text messages to Eric on my Apple IPhone XR. But it is also very important to write a review to explain the issue, I had with this automotive repair shop. As a Yelp Elite 2023 Reviewer, it is required from me to always tell the Truth with every experience I have with a business. I did send Eric these 3 screenshots on my 1995 Honda Civic DX Coupe Car. I also told Eric that my local automotive repair shop that I am a regular customer at currently is at this Golden Wrench Auto. Shop and I had recently had my car taken in for an oil and filter change with a 22 point inspection from my local auto. repair shop on June 6, 2023 and my car was fine. I had texted Eric all of this information about my car. Then Eric said he will text me back with a price on this Brake Light Replacement Service if I decide I want to have to get this service done at their Oceanside Car Clinic. I waited for Eric's response back to me on Thursday, July 20, 2023. Eric did NOT respond back to my text message to him from my Apple IPhone XR. Eric still had 30 minutes to respond back to my message to him. Eric never got back to me and like he said he would. I see this as (poor customer service) and the Oceanside Car Clinic needs to improve on their customer service skills. I want to let Eric know who works for this shop, you never know who is going to be calling your shop. It can be a Yelp Elite 2023 Reviewer like me or a potential customer. Please next time respond back to that person calling into your shop for a quote on a specific service. My assumption maybe is that since I told Eric I am a loyal customer at my local shop at the Golden Wrench Automotive Shop. It could possibly be that Eric doesn't want to take away another shop's business. I don't really know for sure, because I am not a mind reader. I think Eric should have been more (honest) to me and he should have told me that he will not respond back to me with a Free Quote on this Brake Light Replacement Service. I also learned that when I call around to some other automotive repair shops to compare prices on a specific service that I want a Free Quote on, these other automotive repair shops, they just care about making a profit and they don't care about me. This is my reason to give this Oceanside Car Clinic a (2 star rating). It could have been better. I rarely give a business a poor review. The only time I do give a business a poor rating is to alert that business to improve their customer service. I went to this place because of their good reviews but I must write this to WARN others. This place OVERCHARGES you. Brought my Toyota RAV4 2013 asking for fluid flush (transmission fluid and brake fluid) and a brake inspection and tire rotation. My invoice came out to be $800. They charged $165 for brake inspection. I have no words. Tire rotation was $41. I am paying $200 for service that could have been free at other places. I am not saying they shouldn't charge for it, but their prices definitely left me in shock. I am upset. If you want an affordable and reasonably priced place, steer away from this place. Day 1 went in with a clunking sound to right side steering: got quoted axle replacement and scheduled service. Day 2 went in because sound became worse they quoted me for strut replacements and scheduled service. Day 3 I take car in because sound is still there and sounds like it could be bad, they hold car over the weekend and say the sound isn't there, sound comes back as soon as I drive off lot. Day 4 I go to Firestone, they quote me for replacement struts they say they are not not assembled correctly and or do not have a part number. I call Oceanside car clinic and tell them about the issue and take car to them for inspection, I present the car to owner and he says he can hear it, I leave the car for 5 days, I get car back and first day back it's making the same noise. Day 6 I go to Nissan service center and they assess the vehicle they say it's the struts! Days were over the course of 3-4 weeks Long story short I got the run around and wasted my time and money, i'll take the loss financially but they will not be getting my business, i thought the reviews spoke for themselves but I was wrong. read more

A very busy auto shop. We got two very affordable oil changes done. 5-stars for that. But, no place to park. First come- first serve. My car got buried behind incoming cars, so it took an hour more than necessary to complete and get me out. Go early if you hope to something done quickly. This place is not fancy. It's always interesting when you are about to try a new automotive shop for repairs. Being that I'm not a person who totally knows my way around a vehicle I'm always worried that I'm gonna get taken advantage of. I get even more worried when I go to a location that is not a chain and is in a business park surrounded by other businesses that have nothing to do with automobiles. North county car clinic is a perfect example of why stereotypes are so dumb. Not only was this company incredibly helpful explains to me what was going on with my brakes but they also made sure to walk me through different options and cost saving options if I wasn't in a position to afford the more major replacements that would be required soon. It's so interesting how we put things in boxes. I walked in there and talked with 'Jose who is a big dude with San Diego padres ball cap and tattoos and my immediate assumption was that this guy was a former gangster. I also, as a result, assumed that I might not be able to trust him. So dumb. The guy is actually an incredibly solid individual with a background of faith and high moral upbringing. The language that he uses his level of professionalism and his demeanor all totally shattered my stupid assumptions and stereotypes. They did excellent work and he was so friggin' cool and friendly and I was so glad I brought my daughter's truck in for service here. I will 1000% be back. My car had to be towed as well and Jose was able to get his driver to me and picked up within an hour! Goes to show how knowledgeable he is to what he does without having to see the car even. Overall, for a pretty bad breakdown that needed to be towed, I was amazed that Jose and his team in a matter of a 1 day turn around were able to get me back up and running! I had a leaking valve gasket and Acura quoted me for $600, without any further information provided. Here at Oceanside car clinic, they showed me where the problem is, explained the process, and quoted me with with $350. feel I not only saved a lot, but also being able to understand what happened to the car and learned some knowledge from them. They even gave me a free ride to a cafe nearby when I was waiting. I highly recommend this place to all of you who are reading this review. I took in my car, it was very straightforward, they worked around my schedule and they fixed my brakes same day when I told them my situation. It is a really casual, but also somehow also really professional repair place. They were upfront about costs and friendly on the phone. It felt like they respected my time, I think, was the big thing, most places don't. For example, a lot of places seem to take a long time to get parts, but it seemed like they had a good system in place that saved time. This was a real highlight, you ever talk to an auto repair place and they tell you they can fix it a week from Tuesday because they can't get the part, then you check on Amazon and can see you can get the correct part the next day? I didn't get the impression they were stuck doing business before the age of the internet like a lot of other repair places in the area. It was absolutely not what I was expecting, but that's usually good when it comes to auto repair. They couldn't turn my rotors, they don't have the machine, that's my one complaint about this place, but I'd really run down my brakes, so I can't really complain. I can't even begin to share the feeling when I have finally located an HONEST mechanic that can repair my 13 year old vehicle! I spoke to Jose over the phone informing him that Oceanside Automotive told me my vehicle had a rear seal leak. They mentioned the Honda dealership would charge me $1400.00 to fix it as Oceanside Automotive can't repair it. $1400.00? YIKES! I proceeded to make phone calls to get quotes and starting reading Yelp reviews. After speaking to Jose, he told me he can fix it for $900.00 but I had to leave it in the shop for 2 days. Bummer but okay.... : ( Once the mechanics got my car on the lift, they determined it was a completely different issue to my benefit and it would only cost $200.00. Now I have gone from a whopping $1400.00 to a $200.00 repair..... FABULOUS! This shop could have easily informed me that they fixed the leak and I would of happily paid them the $900.00 they quoted me. Jose was HONEST and I drove out of the garage with an additional $700.00 in my pocket! Took my Dad's Lexus to get a diagnostic for the check engine light. Spoke with my boyfriend since he's a mechanic (I'm visiting from out of town) and gave him the check engine code which displayed a generic catalytic converter code. He said to have them check to see if there's any leaks first before replacing the catalytic converter. Unfortunately that was not done, my Dad ended up paying $2k cash (because they gave discount for cash payment) and the check engine light came back on again. He took it back to them and now they're saying the 2nd converter is bad. What the hell!! Im back home and cannot do anything to help my Dad and now he's out $2k for something that was not replaced/repaired. So sad you can't trust anybody anymore. I couldn't be happier with the service at Oceanside Car clinic. I brought a car in that had been sitting for a year and was running very rough, it had 10 engine codes for misfiring. They found that a rodent had been chewing on some wires that lead to the coil packs. They repaired the wiring harness and that fixed everything, and at a very reasonable price. Took my car in because my front right wheel was squeaking at low speeds. They came out and inspected my brake system and shared that it was a rotor. They said it was not serious and not a safety hazard. Rather than giving me an estimate for a significant amount of money, they suggested if I can live with squeak it really doesn't need a repair, and that my brakes were certainly good. NO CHARGE! These guys ROCK! Awesome customer service! They are all about keeping customers coming back. A lot of other business are get them for everything you can while they are in your shop! I first noticed them when my sister and I were passing by and she said you should check those guys out for brakes. so then I checked the reviews on Yelp and Google. I used the quote button on Yelp app. They responded accurately and quickly with correct information. Actually the price was lower than the quote! Came in for a free brake inspection at 1:00 pm and they had completed the service by 4:30! In addition to great service and customer service they gave me advice on how to possibly save money on a factory light that comes on randomly. Cool guys who work at this shop because I was getting a lot of work done to my truck, belts , tran diff oil , brakes Damon the owner installed my front bumper free of charge which was great! But unfortunately they took a long time to install the belt correctly on my truck and I had to take it back twice and would leave it with them the whole day unfortunately again my emergency brake never got re adjusted and I had mentioned this to Erick when I brought back the truck they ended up fixing the belt correctly cause it was installed wrong but they thought the parts were defective they weren't they were just installed wrong & never got the e brake done I've been in contact with Erick trying to get this fixed they are either busy or he doesn't respond. I texted Erick last week again and he told me this week they were free and could do it I had asked him if they do alignments and he never responded fast forward this week Tuesday I text him again to get on schedule cause he didn't text me back he responds tells me they are booked until Thursday this is frustrating cause I tried to schedule my appt last week but never got a response I text him back saying I need get this stuff done you told me the whole week is free when we had talked and again I don't get a response. I called Oceanside car clinic and spoke with Victor. Victor said he would take care of me. I did my homework and found out the price of labor for rotors and brake pad installation. Victor was reasonable and on-the-spot with his estimate. I dropped my car off and he basically went ahead and got it done within an hour and a half. He did an amazing job! I appreciate Victor and Oceanside Car Clinic, and I would recommend them to anyone who needs Automotive repair. Plus Victor is a nice guy and allowed me to work while I waited. I randomly chose this place because it had a 5 star rating. I had an issue with my brakes and I was quite worried about them going out. The owner was very flexible with my inability to get into the shop earlier in the day due to work constraints. He accepted me in later in the day despite the fact that I'm pretty sure I may have caused him to have to get home later that night. That was truly impressive. He was very informative and detailed when explaining what had to be done immediately, what could wait, for how long I might be able to wait, and what could happen if I wait too long. If I could give Jose and Oceanside Car Clinic zero stars I would. Where to even begin... First, he fixed a coolant leak and put new CV axels on my car, no problems with that. Problems began with a massive misdiagnosis issue on his behalf a month or so later when my car died right by his shop, so I had it towed to him and he said I needed a new igniter, a $700 part. So I bit the bullet and said sure. He put the new one in and threw away the original. Picked up my car, drove it for a day, and then it died again. Now he said it needs a new ECU. That part is hard to find for my particular vehicle and cost me $300. I had my car towed to his shop and had to rent a car and drive it to Los Angeles to pick up the part. Then he puts it in and only saved the original ECU because I specifically asked him to. Good thing I did too, because the original ECU was perfectly fine and it's in my car working as I write this. After the new ECU was put in, I picked up my car, drove it for barely 30 minutes and it died again. I had to pay for another tow truck to tow my car back to my place. At this point, after throwing parts at my car and over $1,000 dollars down the drain, now Jose decides to tell me I should probably see an electrician. Thankfully I managed to find an amazing electrician that actually fixed my car. The problem the whole time was a bad wiring harness that just needed some TLC. The igniter was fine. The ECU was fine. The electrician I found spoke with Jose about the igniter, and Jose swore up and down it was toast, but the electrician explained to me there's no way that's true and it was still good. Too bad Jose thew it away. Jose also swore up and down that my ECU was toast, but like I said, the electrician put the original back in and it's working just fine and it's been weeks now. Jose never fixed my car, and in my mind he owes me $800 for that igniter he pitched. I'll never see a dime of course. He's a personable guy, I'll give him that, but his work on my car was an unmitigated disaster. I'll always shudder with regret every time I think about how much money and time I wasted at Oceanside Car Clinic. read more

The most honest mechanic shop I've ever encountered! Came in for squealing brakes thinking I needed brake pad replacement and Victor was so incredibly honest letting me know I still had about 40% life left in the pads if I could deal with the noise, they pose no safety concern. I picked my car up without paying anything!! Not even for inspection! I will 100% be back when it is time for brakes (or anything else that comes up) and sending my friends and family here as well! Jose and his team are awesome. I'm glad I found a trusted mechanic. He's a reasonable, common sense person who isn't trying to get one over on you. They outline and prioritize work that needs to be done and items that are optional. He fixed an issue with my clutch pedal. There were some delays in getting the pedal repaired and from what I could tell, beyond his control in getting the part delivered. He let me use one of his shop cars in the interim and then got me a rental. I'm not saying this is standard for all customers, just that he wanted to make sure I left feeling satisfied. His mechanics are extremely communicative and give you updates along the way, which I super appreciate. Even after this repair, he gave me recommendations on car wash people and such. I contacted this place because they were open on the weekends and I work full time. I unexpectedly ended up with the day off Friday and he was able to take me in right away. The owner was really nice and they even fixed this issues on my door panel which I wasn't expecting so that was great. Why not 5 stars? My brakes don't feel good as new and a couple times I heard some noises coming out when I hit the brakes after getting them fixed. I don't know what's causing it or how to make it happen to "prove" it so it's not worth arguing about yet. read more
