When I called this Oceanside Car Clinic and I talked to Eric who works for their shop, he told me that he is not at their shop right now. I explained to Eric that I want to get a Free Quote on this Brake Replacement Service that needs to be done on my 1995 Honda Civic DX Coupe Car. I want to know, how much would Eric charge me for this Brake Light Part and how much would he charge for his labor including the sales tax? Eric told me to send him 3 photos of my car and to text message him from the Oceanside Car Clinic's business phone number. Then Eric said he will give me the (price of the Brake Light Part) and he will also give me a FREE Quote on the (Brake Light Replacement Service). I said okay great. Eric's voice sounded really friendly during my cell phone conversation with him on Thursday, June 20, 2023 at 4:30 p. m. I have the proof in posting my photos and my text messages to Eric on my Apple IPhone XR. But it is also very important to write a review to explain the issue, I had with this automotive repair shop. As a Yelp Elite 2023 Reviewer, it is required from me to always tell the Truth with every experience I have with a business. I did send Eric these 3 screenshots on my 1995 Honda Civic DX Coupe Car. I also told Eric that my local automotive repair shop that I am a regular customer at currently is at this Golden Wrench Auto. Shop and I had recently had my car taken in for an oil and filter change with a 22 point inspection from my local auto. repair shop on June 6, 2023 and my car was fine. I had texted Eric all of this information about my car. Then Eric said he will text me back with a price on this Brake Light Replacement Service if I decide I want to have to get this service done at their Oceanside Car Clinic. I waited for Eric's response back to me on Thursday, July 20, 2023. Eric did NOT respond back to my text message to him from my Apple IPhone XR. Eric still had 30 minutes to respond back to my message to him. Eric never got back to me and like he said he would. I see this as (poor customer service) and the Oceanside Car Clinic needs to improve on their customer service skills. I want to let Eric know who works for this shop, you never know who is going to be calling your shop. It can be a Yelp Elite 2023 Reviewer like me or a potential customer. Please next time respond back to that person calling into your shop for a quote on a specific service. My assumption maybe is that since I told Eric I am a loyal customer at my local shop at the Golden Wrench Automotive Shop. It could possibly be that Eric doesn't want to take away another shop's business. I don't really know for sure, because I am not a mind reader. I think Eric should have been more (honest) to me and he should have told me that he will not respond back to me with a Free Quote on this Brake Light Replacement Service. I also learned that when I call around to some other automotive repair shops to compare prices on a specific service that I want a Free Quote on, these other automotive repair shops, they just care about making a profit and they don't care about me. This is my reason to give this Oceanside Car Clinic a (2 star rating). It could have been better. I rarely give a business a poor review. The only time I do give a business a poor rating is to alert that business to improve their customer service. It would be great if their manager or their owner would respond back to my review.

Brought my Toyota RAV4 2013 asking for fluid flush (transmission fluid and brake fluid) and a brake inspection and tire rotation. My invoice came out to be $800. They charged $165 for brake inspection. I have no words. Tire rotation was $41. I am paying $200 for service that could have been free at other places. I am not saying they shouldn't charge for it, but their prices definitely left me in shock. I am upset. If you want an affordable and reasonably priced place, steer away from this place. Since then, we've had new tires and front-end alignment for our daughter's car as well - all great service from both companies! Recently that "daughter auto" was afflicted with a dead battery, leaving me puzzled how you navigate this sort of issue. I called Scot at Accurate Alignment simply trying to put together a plan of action. Not being familiar with the whole towing process, Scot's guidance was welcome in getting the car to his shop to move toward repairs. I hadn't looked to Scot's team as being able to also provide other "SERVICES" as their name suggests. With his help we had the car in his shop, and out with a new battery by 4:30 same day! Scot was his usual helpful, professional, friendly self, guiding me along the towing steps from AAA, to one of their towing agents, and on to Accurate Alignment SERVICES for our needed repairs. He arrived very quickly, towed my car to the dealership, knew where to leave my car, knew the service people and actually went into their office and had one of them come out to start the repair process. It was $58 with their special, that included the smog certificate. We made an appointment for 1:30pm the same day and ended up coming early around 12pm or so. We went to lunch next door at the Fish Shop and they were done by 12:35pm even though they had an another appointment. Johnnie at the front counter and the person who did the smog (sorry didn't get his name) but they were both great! I will definitely come here again for our next smog!

Have a Mercedes C300 4 Matic - all wheel drive --- I had a challenge with a high speed whine noise coming from rear and ABS light came on. Took it to A-1 Auto as a recommendation. Turns out it was the incorrect tires were installed on my vehicle and the front brakes were almost metal to metal ( I drive my car the way it should be driven.. shoot me) Long story short the team at A1 replaced my tires and front pads and rotors and sensors and the noise gone ABS light out and car is driving like a dream. Highly recommend this repair shop ( caveat :- I Have been in the motor trade for 38 years and the professionalism and welcoming atmosphere here is wonderful) Melissa kept me up to date every step of the way and Kevin and staff got me back on the road. I'm from a small town in Northern Calif where we had an incredible mechanic that was 100% honest and worked his tail off to offer the best costumer service possible. After trying several different mechanics/shops here in Northern San Diego, I can say that 15 years later and I have finally found the same relationship with A-1 Auto Care. Not only do I feel that A-1 Auto Care is incredibly trustworthy, but their customer service goes over and beyond to make sure the client is happy and educated about the options they have while having their car serviced. I have also referred them to close friends who feel the same way. Then to top it off... their prices are very competitive! A-1 was recommended to me when I first moved here four years ago. I was told that Jimmy was a fair and honest guy and that the service was great. Four years later, A-1 has been the only place I take my vehicle for preventive maintenance and repairs. Everyone at the shop is great. The quality of the service (from the front office to the maintenance bay) is outstanding!!! I appreciate the fact that they (Jimmy and Kevin) will have discussions with me regarding the health of my vehicle, down to planning out if and when a service should be performed. If I could give 5000 stars I would! As a single Mom, it's hard to know who to trust to take care of things such as this, but Kevin and the team there are absolutely top notch- From the care they take over the phone, to the way they greet you once you walk in, you know you're in the best hands possible. Today was the first time I have taken my Honda Odyssey in, and it will be my go-to from here on out. I have brought my 2003 Hyundai Accent here for service and repair on several occasions from belt replacements to my most recent repair involving a complete clutch assembly. I was considering trading this car in since it had close to 109,000 miles. My clutch is smooth and shifts like butter now. I should now get another couple more years of dependable driving out of this Hyundai because of this repair. I am very pleased with the result and of course with the fine mechanical workmanship entailed in acomplishing this job. The check engine light came on in my Pontiac Solstice, and instead of freaking out, I spent about 30 minutes crisscrossing the streets of Carlsbad to find this place. I found them by accident in 2013, when I was in need of a 'major' repair; according to the dirty dealership. Jim, A-1's previous owner took one look and was like, "Darling, you're just missing a bolt!" He popped one on, tightened it up, and I was on my way. 4 years laters, which was yesterday, they took my car in around 8 AM, had one of the guys shuttle me to work, then had my car fixed and back to me before 5. As long as I'm driving and A-1 is around, I'll be a faithful customer. read more

Top Notch! We had a really tricky electrical problem with our 2011 Subaru Outback. (We had already taken it to the Subaru dealer and all they said was "the battery is fine".) We put in a brand-new battery but there was some kind of drain on it and after two days it would go dead. We checked that all the interior lights were off, rear door hatch closed... still dead. Kevin stayed after hours and ran several tests and finally figured out that the electric seat adjustment was stuck, meaning it was always on, and thus drained the battery. Simple to fix, but you have to have the knowledge to find the problem in order to fix it. Kevin is the best. read more

From: Marty N. A1 Auto Care in Carlsbad is the only place I'll take my vehicles!! (A 2012 Infiniti M37 and a 2014 Subaru Forester). They are totally honest and dependable, competent, and will save you a lot of money compared to your dealer!! I recommended them to a friend with a very high mileage Toyota Sienna, where the dealer gave an estimate of over $4000 for repair....A1 Auto Care did the job (and eliminated some of the proposed work as unnecessary) for a little over $700----they delivered a vehicle that's safe and reliable!! My family and I have been going here for over 20 years. It's a small mom and pop type shop in all the good ways. Friendly service, trustworthy, and they always give a fair price. Case in point, another family member was having problems with their CRV. After several other mechanics could not find the problem I took it to A-1 where Jim and his crew were able to find the issue and fix it. It was something so abnormal that most tests and mechanics would just dismiss is and it would have been a major issue had it not been fixed. Kevin runs a great business. Fair, expert service that keeps my cars running great after I beat the hell out of them. They get me in and out and don't take my car and throw it in a lot until they can get to it. I trust him with my life, and that's just what your doing when you give someone your car to fix and then go screaming down the highway. I have been doing business with A-1 since 2014. These guys are honest, flexible, and skilled at their craft. The shop is clean and organized. I brought in my 2019 Acura TLX on the fly after doing the rear brake pads myself and I was blown away at the prompt service I received. If your brakes are good for another 5000 miles, they will advise you to come back later instead of just saying "you need brakes, Bud." It was smoking before I even got back to work. Oil dripping onto the headers. Returned it same day, they re-torqued and sent me home. Still smoking. Dropped it back off 5/14 at 3:10PM. Picked up 5/15. Two lights from the shop my transmission started slipping hard in second gear. Turned right back around. Owner Ricky confirmed the slip on a test drive. His first question was whether I'd done aftermarket work to the transmission, trying to make it my fault before we even got back to the shop. Plugged in a scanner, found an old unrelated stored code, erased it, drove it again. His conclusion: "I don't know what to tell you." I pointed out the transmission was perfect at drop-off. He got angry. Said no one drove it, they only idled it. Then offered to pull camera footage as proof. I said let's go watch it right now. He said he had other things to do. This happened in front of my fiancée and two of his own employees. No intake paperwork was made when I returned the car, no mileage logged for the exact period the transmission failed. What I can tell you is the mileage on my car does not support the story they're telling. A certified third-party inspection from the shop literally 150 feet away documented my transmission passing with zero issues the same morning I dropped off. The oil pan job on the 6.1L HEMI also requires physically moving the transmission for access. They did something and when confronted with the proof, they dodged cameras and kicked me out. BAR complaint filed. Small claims next. Update "Response to Ricky, thank you for responding publicly this actually helps me significantly. You identified yourself here as "Business Manager." When I asked you in person for the owner, you said you were in front of witnesses. That is now publicly documented. Regarding the OBD codes : the stored code found was a historical "lost communication with TCM" event. That is not a transmission mechanical failure code. It is entirely unrelated to active gear slipping. Any qualified technician or BAR investigator will confirm those are two completely different things. Regarding the SRT8 being driven aggressively: on the morning of my drop-off, another shop conducted a certified digital multi-point inspection of my vehicle. 31 of 33 systems passed. Transmission was in the green. The only red flags were the exact leaks I hired you to fix. That inspection is timestamped and on record. A performance vehicle with aggressive driving history does not pass a certified inspection hours before drop-off and then suddenly fail two blocks from your shop after picking up You stated the transmission was not touched. The 6.1L HEMI oil pan job requires the transmission to be lowered for access. It does not need to be fully removed to be disturbed. You also claim no evidence exists linking your repairs to the transmission failure. There is also no intake paperwork from my return visit, meaning no mileage baseline exists for the exact period the failure occurred. That absence of documentation benefits only one party, and it is not me. Your building advertises transmission services. You told me to my face you don't diagnose transmissions. Thank You Sir

So I cleaned the mass airflow sensor, and the code went away, but the symptoms (struggling to idle) were still there. So I took it to A Better Auto Repair because it's not far from where I live and told them what had been going on. They called me back a day after I had dropped my car off, and they said there were no issues and that the car did not struggle to idle and they asked me to pick it up. So I went and picked up my car, but this time the idle issue was still there, and now my car has rod knock. I have babied my car, and there would be basically no reason for this to happen, but then I take my car here, and this new issue (along with the old issue that they said went away, even though it didn't) appears out of thin air, and they deny it all. Unacceptable. I'm now going to have to pay upwards of $10,000 for a complete engine replacement somewhere else. AutoNation Subaru Carlsbad quoted me for a complete swap at $13,000. I wish I were joking, but I am not. My entire family and I will never go there again. 0 Stars.
